Help installing XP Pro on K8T Neo2-F!!!

I'm trying to help my cousin install XP Pro on their new pc. It's got an Athlon 64 3000+, K8T Neo2-F, 512mb Samsung ram, and an 80gb ata drive. before i started to fix it, my cousin said that he stopped the xp install midway thru because he forgot to install the RAID drivers. when i try to reinstall xp, it just freezes on DOS when it says "setup is checking hardware configuration" or sumthin like that. i also noticed that their dvdrw drive stops spinning and has a clicking noise at that point. i tried installing win 98 on it and it worked, then tried to upgrade to xp, which froze when the pc rebooted. anyone have any idea what's going on???

Hi. My setup is very similar, and I had a similar problem installing XP as well. Do as simon suggested to make sure your harddrive is clean for a fresh install. Make sure the promise 579 SATA controller and the VIA SATA RAID controller are both disabled in BIOS. Especially if your not using a RAID setup or any SATA drives you wont need them anyway.
Install XP as normal. Do not install the RAID drivers from the floppies by hitting F6. Now the XP installation should be able to complete itself. If you want to use the controllers later, enable the one (or both) you want in BIOS, Then install the drivers from the CD under Device manager update driver option.

Need help installing Adobe Pro 9 to my new PC.

Hi albertc40027908,
You might need to deactivate Acrobat 9 from your old machine.
Then, install the software from a CD (if you have) and activate with the same serial number.
If you don't have a CD, then you might install Acrobat 9 pro from the below mentioned link:
Download Acrobat products | 9, 8
Hope this helps.

• Need HELP installing XP Pro on two 74gb Raptors on Neo2 Plat!!!!!

My friend and I have tried almost everything. We tried them in SATA1/2 and SATA 3/4.
We made sure everything that should be disabled/enabled in BIOS is.
We followed the guides on this forum.
When we get to Windows Setup, we hit F6, and then when it asks us to, we install the RAID drivers and RAID controller from the floppy disk that came with the Mobo thats labeled "Nvidia Nforce3 SATA RAID Drivers". Then it looks like everthing is installing and going smooth, but then we get a blue screen of death, or the computer restarts, or we get an error. The error says something like "Unsuspected error occurred at 5116 d:\xpsp1\base\boot\setup\setup.c." Before we get that error, it says "WARNING! Disk boot sector to be modified, press Y to continue, press any key to cancel". When we cancel, we get the error i mentioned above, and when we press Y, it just says "windows setup is loading" for a min or 2, and then the comp restarts and were back at where we started.
Were trying to put the drives in RAID 0, so if anybody has put 2 Raptors in RAID 0 on the Neo2 Platinum PLEASE HELP US!!. At this point I don't even care about getting them in RAID anymore. I'll use them as 2 separate drives if I have to. I just wanna get the freakin computer up and running with an OS.
And BTW, incase this helps, the full specs of my computer are:
Antec trublue 480W PSU
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
Athlon 64 3500+
Thermaltake Venus 12 Heatsink/Fan
2 X 512mb pc3200 Crucial Ballistix RAM
Two 74gb Raptors
Radeon 9800 Pro
DVD Drive
DVD burner
Floppy drive
PLEASE HELP US!!!!

Okay, two things.  First, revisit that link I cited above.  One person "definitely" found a solution, and MSI is purportedly testing it out.
Second, reading your original message, you only mentioned loading the nVidia Raid drivers (via F6).  What about the nVidia mass storage driver?  According to the manual (and even other users around the forums), you need to load them both.  Are you?
Edit:  To recap:
Update BIOS to at least v.1.1;
In BIOS, enable all four SATA ports (even if you are only using two of them);
(probably optional) Disconnect all other drives;
Build your array (and clear it) of course;
After you hit F6 in Windows setup, install both nVidia drivers; and
Have Windows to a full format, not a quick format.
After all of that, you should be good to go.
Let us know how it all works out.

• Need help installing Adobe Pro on my new computer

In 2013 I purchased Adobe software for my office computer. The computer died in 2014 and now I need to install Adobe on my laptop.
Can I get help, please
Denise Brown

Hi deebrn77,
Are you running into a specific problem with the installation, or just need guidance on how to get started? If necessary, you can download Acrobat from this page: Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X.
And, if you need your serial number to complete the installation, then this document can help with that: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.
Finally, if you had purchased an Acrobat subscription, then this document provides great instructions for downloading and installing an Acrobat subscription: Acrobat XI Subscription | Download and install
I've tried to cover the bases; but if you still need help, please let us know!
Best,
Sara

• [Solved] - K8T Neo2 / Sound: Realtek or VIA?

Hi,
I've made a clean XP SP2 install. on a motherboard K8T Neo2 (6702E ver.1)
I've installed via4in1 and LAN,n then liveupdate.
It detects two differents sound chips: a realtek and a VIA AC'97.
If I install the realtek driver => no sound
If I install the VIA driver => the sound is there but the VIA 'manager' (vinyl audiodeck) is unable to change the configuration (I've only the mode two speakers)
If I install both drivers, I've the sound (Via drivers) and the Realtek manager allow me to change audio configuration
Any information?
Thanks

Do you have an url of the VIA audio drivers you are using? Or do you mean the VIA 4in1 drivers? The Realtek audio chip is a component added by MSI, not an imbedded feature of the chipset. So I find it very strange, if VIA would supply drivers for a component they do not produce. Is the audio chip enabled in your bios?
I'm talking of VIA AUDIO drivers; not the 4in1 (which are of course already installed). Audio is activated in bios (up to date).
We can found VIA audio drivers easily at VIAARENA => http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=2
or .... using Liveupdate if it detects a VIA chip inside. LiveUpdate "needs" version 6.14.1.38.70
It needs also Realtek drivers v5.10.00.5760.
Liveupdate detecting two audio chips => this is this thing that is surprising.

• MSI K8T Neo2 FIR, need help installing drivers

Hi there,
I need help with installing drivers. Here’s my setup:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Mainbord: MSI K8T Neo2 FIR (VIA K8T800Pro)
OS:  Windows XP Professional, SP2 installed
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
I updated per MSI Live Monitor, but when I run ‘dxdiag’, I says I have to update the ‘VIA standard host bridge’. I don’t know what this is or where it can be found. It could be I saved the updated drivers in the wrong file (F:\ Program Files\...) where F is my primary harddisk and the drivers should be saved in F:\Windows\ System 32.
Also, my hardware setup tells me there are two videocards 'installed': a Radeon 9600  Pro and a radeon 9600 Pro (secundary). Do I need to de-install the secundary one?
Here’s a piece of my most recent dxdiag:

Help would be very much appriciated, thnx!

The two vis.cards issue is normal, it sees the primary output (VGA) as a device and the TV-out a separate device.
Go to device manager to see if there's any device on ur rig that doesn't have drivers.
Did u install the 4-in1 drivers, get the latest version from the MSI support site.
good luck.

• [Athlon64] Fedora Core 4 install on K8T neo2 with 9.1 BIOS?

I'm seeing a strange error when trying to install Fedora Core 4 on my new Athlon 64 box.  I had numerous problems with the BIOS that was installed when I got it (3.3) - mostly related to dual channel memory configuration, but I was able to get Fedora Core 4 installed.  After upgrading the BIOS to 9.1 I can boot into my installed FC4 and it appears to work well, but the installation crashes when it's trying to mount the initrd RAM disk (I think).  I would like to start with a fresh installation because I don't know what state the current instalation is in since it was installed in the middle of experimentation.  Does anybody have this working?
My setup is:
K8T neo2
Athlon 64 3000+
2x512 MB RAM
250GB WD ATA Disk
Like I said, it seems rock stable with current install, so I don't think there's any hardware issues.  I think it's an incompatibility between the FC4 install kernel and the 9.1 BIOS.
Thanks

Sorry to mention Windows. Most of the folks that I know who run Linux run a Partition with windows as well.
Anyways... The 9.1 Bios is the correct one for you but so far you are the first I have heard from that has tried Linux with that Bios and there well could be a problem. You may want to drop MSI a line as they likely are also unaware of this and it may be a simple fix. However none of the MSI staff read this forum so if you can mail them you will likely get a better responce. Let them know all the pertanent details of course and let us know what you find out as it may help the next person with this problem.

• With MSI K8T NEO2 FIR Mb (help)

Hi.
I need some help....!
My computer contains:
AMD64 3500+ (130nm, Newcastle) socket 939
MSI K8T NEO2 FIR Hovedkort for S939 K8T800PRO
Kingston PC3200 HyperX DDR 1024MB CL2 Non-ECC Ultra Low Latency (2-2-2-5-1)
Gainward GeForce 6800GT 256MB GS GDDR3 AGP, "Ultra/2400 Golden Sample"
9 X Western Digital HD's
2 X Nec dvd-burning-r
A Gainward psu. (delivers "+3,3=28a" "+5=45a" "+12=20a" and a total of 550W)
I think I have a power problem... because the "+12" has a rather low number for this kind of system... and the BIOS is showing me that the "+12" reading is -- 11,42V --  This is idle in BIOS... and I got the same reading in Win... (idle)
The first thing I thought of was to disable as many disk's/cd-drives as I was able to... the only thing I have left is C: BUT!! the bios and windows gives me the same reading of the "+12"  11,42V.
Both +3,3 and +5 are on the + side.
The main problem is when I ex starts a game or a benchmark prog... Like HL2,battlefield,War3,3dmarks,Prime95 + + +  the pc shuts down, or the prog/game won't run properly.... Kind of irritating!!!
Do anybody have any experience with this kind of problem?!?!?! I need help!
I thought of buying the OCZ 520w psu....  Does it solve the problem?
http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/power_management/ocz_powerstream_power_supply
This psu should give me these specs:
520W:
+3.3V(28A)
+5V(40A)
+12V(33A)
Many Thanks for your help!!
regards.
Kris

Prime95 version 23.8.1 is my first choice, I run the torture test in blend mode because it uses lots of ram, very sensitive to errors. Pure math computataions and matched against known results.
I also use Hot Cpu tester Pro 4.2.2, they do have a free version as well it tests alot of different cpu instructions as well as memory simultaniously as well as doing a burn-in. Faster than Prime, nice when your overclocking since you can see what is failing sse instructions for example, then you can either up the cpu voltage or ram voltage depending on the test or back off the oc a bit.Used it alot with my old Barton 2500 rig.
I've seen a third program used on some of the overclocking sites Superpi. I believe, lol, been meaning to bookmark and try it myself. I imagine it's used to quickly detect memory errors as well as  being a benchmark without stressing components.
This board isn't made for overclocking kind of useless without a working agp/pci lock. Sata corruption over 220 fsb so I've been content with using the first 2 programs to tweak my memory settings and test for stability.
Yeah I noticed that too when I set the DDR to 400 the bios will override the Cas being set to 2 and run it at 2.5 My board doesn't freeze when saving it though. I leave it set at 2.5 in the bios and use A64Tweaker to manually set the Cas to 2 in windows it works fine that way and is easily verified with cpuz or everest. Personally I don't trust using spd in the bios and prefer to manually set all the timing to the manufacturers recommended settings. *edit* I also forgot to mention to when you check your ram manufacturer's website to see if the sticks of ram are capably of Command Rate 1T(CR) some can't other can only if one stick is being used. You may need to set the Dram 1T timing to disable, sorry about that

• Boot and OS install issues with K8T Neo2 F

Can anybody shed light on my difficulties?
Assembled a new computer yesterday.  First power-on produced nothing except 3 (2,3,4) red leds on d-bracket.  After reading several postings, tried the following:
Swapped around memory modules;
Did repeated JBAT1 data clears (NB if you happen to get a board with the V1.0 user guide, note that the JBAT1 diagram appears upside down - pin one is closest to the SATA slots (page 2 - 24).  The MSI downloadable user guide (V1.2) has that error corrected (page 2-25)
The only memory config that doesn’t produce three red leds is with one 512 stick installed in channel 3 (green).
Can now get to the point where Windows XP boots to the point where install is about to start, and then advises me that it can’t find a hard disk!
Have dis/reconnected the sata cable (using different cables) and checked the bios setup but can find nothing strange except that setup refers to the hard disk as BBS 0 (RAID) ST3120827AS - the reference to “RAID” worries me.

Paul, there have been people here that have had to strip their  system down to the bare minimum hardware to get windows to complete the install, so try that. I had trouble completing my windows install as long as I was trying to install the RAID drivers at F6. So I ignored the prompt at F6 and windows installed fine. Then I installed my RAID drivers afterward.
These things are extremely sensitive when it comes to memory. I had the same problem you are having. Mine was cured by a BIOS upgrade to ver. 3.3. The simplest way to do it is to use "Live Watch". It will locate BIOS ver 3.3 for you, and download it to a floppy along with the flash program, and make it bootable all in one easy step. Then all you have to do is boot from the floppy you just made, and follow the instructions. Very simple.
I've read all these stickies and posts now going way back, and IMHO anyone who wants to use RAM thats not on the list should do so at their own risk. Interestingly enough, the recommended list from MSI is not the same as the list from AMD. And the memory manufacturers have their own lists of RAM that they say will work with this board. I'm using 2x 512 sticks of GEIL from the MSI recommended list.
Check out these links to see what I mean. By the way, if you haven't noticed, most of the older posts about memory problems are with respect to the K8T Neo FIS2R which is a socket 754 single channel board, so although they are similar, they're not the same. My point is just because his K8TNeo FIS2R works fine with brand "X" RAM doesn't mean your K8T NEO2 FIR will.

As an overworked professional, I simply have to consider the very viable options out there. Never thought I'd be seriously considering a Cubase product.
It's a Steinberg product, not a Cubase product.. in case you haven't been paying attention Steinberg developed the virtual instrument for use in it's programs way back in Cubase 3.55.. the plethora of virtual instruments and the advent of low-latency drivers can be directly traced to Steinberg/Cubase development.. Logic also borrowed Cubase's arrange page format back in the 1980's. Cubase has borrowed from Logic to be sure but Steinberg has long been an innovator for many of the things we take for granted today. It was Logic/Emagic who licensed the VST technology and ASIO low latency format to use in Logic 4.xx. It was Apple who adapted VST to it's own AU format. Also, Cubase and Nuendo have undergone a lot more innovation over the past three years, Yamaha has been good as a parent company. Cubase is not Nuendo's little brother by the way, they are very close, same exact audio engine, same robustness, they can exchange files, the only difference being Cubase doesn't have some of the high end post features that Nuendo has. I use both Cubase and Logic and occasionally Nuendo at the University here.. I know both programs fairly well, believe me, both Cubase 6 and 7 can hold their own with any DAW out there, they just don't come with a bunch of ready made loops and preset instruments.
LogicX will never be able to use 32-bit instruments without a third party solution, nor will it ever include the Bridge. At least according to the people I know.

I have not contacted Adobe. I am using acrobat pro CC, and haven't noticed any problem with the software itself. The only problem I have had so far is when I try to download.

Many thanks

How did you install Logic onto your new Mac Book?
From the App store or from the DVD boxed set?
If it was downloaded from the App store then it should already be v9.1.8... and if it isn't you need to call Apple to help you sort this out.
If it was originally from the DVD boxed set then you must update using software updates....
If software updates cannot find Logic to update it then you either have...
Renamed the Logic Pro app in which case rename it back to Logic Pro
or
The Logic Pro App is not in the applications folder which is where it needs to be to be updated... so move it back there.
