Help - Internet Cleanup 5.0

In need of help fast. Installed the above software 30 days ago to test out on my iMac. I'm having to use my laptop to access internet this morning as iMac is rendered useless.
EVERY time I click on my mouse the words 'Spy alert, internet cleanup has expired' comes up and I have no way of removing it. I threw away the main folder for the application ages ago but elements seem to have embedded themselves into my iMac. Does anyone have any idea how I can remove this horrible software please.

See if your Mac will boot from the install DVD.
    Then uninstall Internet Cleanup.

  • Help -can't start up after uupgrade and 'internet cleanup' install

I've got a problem... trying to remember how my installs went, but recently installed 10.5.4 and shortly thereafter a smith micro product called internet cleanup. in addition, during the restart, the air conditioner for our upstairs (computer / exercise room died and at 85F or so, returned to find the fans running full blast and the international "NO" sign in place of the gray apple at startup.
I am unable to start up at this point and don't know why. I have run disk utility and repaired 1 permission, no joy, and ran disk warrior last night and still can't start up. OS cd and DW see my drive ok and perform tests and repairs ok, but still can't start up.
if anyone has a recommendation, I'm all ears. I'm ready to start unplugging any peripherals, open the case, and unplug memory, not knowing what else to do.
    thanks in advance,

Get a UPS 1500VA for your Mac Pro.
I would be surprised Smith is 10.5.x compatible, why not look at Onyx or Leopard Cache Cleaner, or just manually clean out ~/Library/Caches/
Resetting the SMC (button for pre-2008, leaving unplugged for 2008 model).

Obviously first, if DW repairs your drive and you are running 10.5.4, you have another disk drive and can boot, no?
    Backups and cloned system?
Else, start installing and setting up a new OS boot drive. Later you can try to merge or migrate and salvage files and applications.

  • Is Firefox compatible with SPYBOT Search & Destroy and Aladdin System's Internet CleanUp/Browser Guard applications?

I believe SmithMicro acquired Aladdin Systems, but Internet CleanUp is an older program that I like. If anyone has any experience with the compatibility of these applications with Firefox, it would be appreciated. Thanx.

Quite honestly, from the number of support issues we have seen posted here about problems caused by external security applications "cleaning" Firefox files or "cleanup" programs messing with Firefox files, I wouldn't recommend using a program like that.

  • Internet Cleanup and NetBlockade

I installed Internet Cleanup to try it out. But after uninstalling it (dragging it the the trash), I started to see the NetBlockade logo on all flash enabled sites e.g. Youtube. I uninstalling it internet using appzapper with no luck. I still see the NetBlockade logo. I am curious as to what will happen after the trial period expires, will i have to purchase it. or loose all flash enabled access. Any suggestions.
P.S. Do macs get adware/spyware, are there any better uinstallers then appzapper.
    Thanks,
    Dmitry

    Dmitry,
Follow the instructions here to remove it - just don't reinstall. Remember to remove the other two files mentioned further down the thread on that page.
Spyware is pretty much a self-inflicted injury: The OS as such does not matter, since spyware depends on user behavior. (Please don't misunderstand this: The spyware would still have to be coded to run on a Mac, but OSX itself is not an impediment.)
I'm not aware of much of anything in the way of spyware for OS X - for now.
That said, you can take steps to protect yourself:
    Configure your firewall correctly.
If you still have "Open "safe" files after download." checked in your Safari, you could still conceivably get hit with a drive-by: Uncheck it.
Don't use P2P (Limewire and the like) or visit "dodgy" (unknown, copyright infringing, skanky, etc.) Web sites.
Don't install any program or give any installer your admin password unless you are certain that you know and trust the source.
Create a separate administrator account for installing software and updates and make your user account an ordinary, nonadminstrative user.

  • Adobe Reader X Help internet link

Hi, could anyone let me know how to fix the problem in Adobe Reader X when you click Help from the menu bar followed by Adobe Reader X Help.  Instead of taking you to an Adobe help page via a web browser, you get the error; "Online Help content cannot be displayed.  Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet" message.
I have uninstalled X and installed Adobe Reader 9 and this works fine and connects to the web.  I have read the link from vilcanator back in Jan 2011 which the reply takes you to
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/reader/using/reader_X_help.pdf which is for a local saved copy of the help file.
However, surely the online help link should work otherwise updates to the help document will not be updated on the downloaded pdf copy.  This has been tested on XPSP3 and W7 Prof, and in IE8 and 9.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Debs

    Hi
F1 brings up the exact same message for me, "Online Help content cannot be displayed.  Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet".  The message appears within Adobe Reader X.  It doesn't reach the browser at all.
When I click Help from the menu bar followed by Adobe Reader X Help, it will take around 5 seconds to have a think, and then show the message.  I've used the setup assistant to set to default and no change.  In Preferences, the Web browser Options for the Internet are all ticked,
    Thanks

  • Help: Internet Connection

Hi, I'd be really grateful if anyone had a solution to this problem:
I am able to connect to the internet, but then frequently find that my connection stops (somehow) and I get the "You are not connected to the internet" page.  On the Network Diagnostics box, all of the Network Status (including the Built-in Ethernet and Network Settings) lights show as red and "failed".
I am using a built-in ethernet (ie a cable from my mac to my modem) and haven't touched the settings, cable etc.  I have had my mac for a few months now and have never had this problem before.
This problem has occured when I have started-up my mac, when I have re-awoken it from sleep mode and also just in the middle of surfing.  I have found that if I shut down my mac and then restart it, I can usually connect to the internet again.
    Can anyone help?
    many thanks

Just try reboot ur router sound like hav only limit signals release only working other laptops not to apple so do this first.......take off both cables from back of ur router power and internet and then put back after 15 sec and then check ur apple products is working.

  • Please help Internet goes down when using iPad and Mac book pro at samtime

When I am using my iPad and my wife is using her Mac book pro at the same time we both lose Internet connection. We are using a gateway 2wire wireless router supplied by AT&T. Both devices have the latest updates we have reset network settings reentered wep password rebooted router and restarted both devices with no luck. We bought both of them at the same time so we are new to the Mac world, not sure if it is related but our new 2nd gen apple tv also seems to power on for no reason even after I put it to sleep and the remote is put away so no accidental bumps. The apple tv is connected via an either net cable not wifi. Any info would help thanks.

The fact that your using WEP security could be the problem. Try switching your router security settings to WPA or WPA2 with AES. If you don't know how id suggest contacting your internet service provider to get directions on changing the wifi security settings. The iPads wifi chipset supports AES encryption at the hardware level which increases performance and battery life. I'm not sure about your Macbook though.

  • Hope this helps internet problems for some of you!!!

Hi...I was experiencing the same problem a lot of folks on here have been dealing with. In short, our MacBooks or MacBook Pro's showing that we were fully connected to a network but unable to get on the internet. I'm by no means a tech expert, but I just got BOTH my MacBook and MacBook Pro working. I sure hope this helps at least a few of you b/c this has been a MAJOR pain for me and it is definitely isolated to the MacBooks. I've got three other Macs and they've never had this issue. Here's all I did:
I unplugged and actually reset the wireless router by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds. Powered it back up.
Came back to my computers and once again the signal strength showed I was fully connected. Still no internet though. So...I clicked on the Airport signal strength icon in the upper tool bar. To restate, this already showed that I was connected at full strength but I had no internet. Anyway, I clicked "Other" or "Join Other Network" in the drop down list. In the next pop-up window, I entered the "new" network name. I even just used the exact same network name over again. My particular network used a WEP password, so I put the original WEP password in, clicked OK and bam!...Without even rebooting the computers, the internet is working like a charm on both MacBooks.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL! Lemme' know if it works!

  • HELP- internet explorer issues on Windows 7

so i just installed windows 7, but the os x disk in afterwards etc. got all the drivers working. I used the internet multiple times (internet explorer) via the ethernet cable i have plugged in at school, but now, a couple days after installation, the internet won't work for my computer specifically. It works for my other buddies macs/pc's, just not my windows 7 partition. Safari acts perfectly fine using the same plug/cable, but when switched to windows 7, internet explorer/ the network center says I'm on an "unidentified network with no internet access". I mucked around with the settings to try and fix it, and so far nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

put the os x disk in*

  • PLEASE HELP - Internet keeps cutting me off - is it because of my router?

    Hello!
I live in a building where I can see many active wireless connections from my neighbors. I have my own router that is giving me a very strong signal, however, every 10 minutes or so my internet will die on me and I need to constantly shut off Airport...turn it back on, and reconnect to my router.
Do you think this is an issue with my router?

It may be that your router has a setting for the number of devices that can be active on the network. You should be able to adjust that setting as well as a connection time setting if there is one. Check your router's instructions to see how to access the web-based setup page, but I've read other posts, some of which said just type - home - into your browser's address bar, but otherwise you enter something like this for a Linksys: http://192.168.1.1
Also, you might have a problem with outside interference, refer to this Apple article - Items that can interfere with AirPort: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Airport/5.0/en/ap2082.html

  • After I update to firefox 4.0 it wont load any of my facebook games. And I don't know how to fix it. Please help Internet Explorer sucks!

I updated to firefox 4.0 and it wont load any of my facebook games.

Facebook games are usually Flash based.<br />
Your More system details list show that you have the Flash plugin, so that should be working.<br />
Make sure that you do not block Flash.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Please help: Internet Setup Problems.

So here's the deal. I am trying to connect to the internet through a ethernet cable. I follow everything by the book while setting it up.
I click on System Preferences and go to Network and it says "Ethernet is currently active...and the internet is connected via built-in ethernet." But when I click on Safari, it says I am not connected to the Internet.
I run Network Diag and I get a green light for Ethernet, Network Settings, and ISP, but a red light for Internet and Server.
    Any suggestions?
I have tried reseting the modem and all that. The cables are fine. They work on my other computer.

Could be a lot of things, but we'll try some simple things first. If you are connecting directly to your modem and not through a router, then shut down your computer and unplug the modem for 30 seconds. Then, plug in your modem and let it go through it's intialization sequence (the lights blink). When all the lights are reasonable steady, about 30 seconds after plugging it in, plug the Ethernet cable into your computer and boot it up. I know you did this already, but that 30 second wait is sometimes the key.
Now, if that doesn't work, then shut everything off again. Plug in your Ethernet cable to the computer and start it first. Let everything get settled (hopefully that 30 seconds) and then plug in your modem and let that get settled and see what happens.
Now, if it still doesn't work and you're getting an IP address assigned, what does it start with?
