Help! Intersecting lines and cleanup question
Hi there,
I am brand new Illustrator CS5 user. I drew this image using the pen tool in Photoshop, and then I exported the paths from Photoshop into Illustrator.
I have a picture that looks like this, currently. The things I want to change are circled in red. They are the jagged protrustion on the two flag tags, and the overlaping lines.
I want it to look like this (edited using eraser in Photoshop):
How do I get from point A to point B in Illustrator? I've tried various solutions without success.

The flag edge with the zig zag should be a closed path with a fill, and each of the tags should be a continuous single path reaching or going underneath the flag edge (you may close them).
The pole should be beneath the flag edge and the tags.
You may see the stacking order in the Layers palette/panel.

When I open Firefox I get a blank box in the middle of the screen with a grey bar and a (?) and the page is frozen as if the computer is frozen ~~~ I have to load two (2) Firefox pages in order to get Firefox to work? Any suggestion as to how to fix this problem?
CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back. So probably won't run on modern operating systems. If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

Flash noob needs help with simple and easy question on animation
sorry if this is completely obvious, but Im having trouble and cant start my project until I figure it out. Basically whats happening is I create two keyframes (1 on frame 1 and the other on frame 10) on my mouth layer. In the first frame its normal and on the 10th frame its a different shape. But when I go out of that layer and into the previous layer overview (if that makes any sense), the change isnt there. Frame 1, all the way to frame 10, looks like frame 10 did on the mouth layer. Shouldnt the change be saved on the previous layer overview and shouldn't I be able to see the mouth change shapes? I havent ever had this problem so am i missing something? If this doesn't make any sense, I can provide some screen caps to visualize to you guys what I'm going off about.
Thanks.You could be doing any number of things wrong. If the artwork on frame 1 is different from the artwork on frame 10, and each of these frames is a keyframe in the same layer, did you set a tween on the keyframe in frame 1? If the art is drawn directly to the stage in each keyframe, you should be using a shape tween. If the art in each keyframe is a symbol, then you should be using a classic tween in the first keyframe. In either case you can view the animation by dragging the playback head across the timeline, or, use the play button at the bottom of the timeline window.
When you talk about the "previous layer overview", are you talking about moving from the editing window for a movieclip to the main timeline? If this is the case, then, if you edit a movieclip that is on the main timeline, you should see result of that edit when you play the main timeline. Or is it something else that you are doing?
When you first start up Flash, there is a menu that lets you select what type of file you want to create. There is also a third column labeled "Learn". You may want to spend some time going through those tutorials. -
Need help animating line art/paths
Help please...
I am trying to animate a line, to have it tween/morph between a line and a question mark and then back to a line. I've drawn my two shapes in Illustrator as line art (as paths, not as closed shapes), but I'm not seeing the paths as a mask when I paste them into my Solid Layer. The parts of my drawing that have closed shapes come in and form a mask, but not the individual lines/paths, not matter how thick I make them. I can see there is a path in AE if I click on the shape, but it does not come up as a masked area.
Is there a better way to do this, than to animate a mask? Animating masks seems to be the consensus how to do a lot of animation, but I'm stuck trying to get my line appear as part of my mask.
Happy to try another way; I have yet to see a tutorial that does what I'm trying to do, can't be a reveal, since the final shape needs to morph a few times. I am sure this is do-able (and probably not that hard!), but I can't figure it out; in Flash I would just tween between the two shapes, but not seeing how to do that effect in AE.
Thank you!hi, i took some screengrabs also, so that you can perhaps see what i might be doing wrong...i inlcuded the original shape, from Illustrator, as well as what happens when I paste in AE. for my shape, blends won't work from Illustrator, I need the line to move in a certain way that Illustrator won't do using that feature. thanks very much .

Questions on porting family plan lines and a prorated final bill?
Hey there! I've done some searches on the board before posting and encountered tidbits of information I found useful, but I couldn't get all of my lingering questions answered from older posts so here's my situation:
My number is the primary number on a family plan (3 lines, mine included) with Verizon, and I'm considering porting it along with the two other lines elsewhere. All three lines are no longer in a contract and are month-to-month (the 2-year agreements ended many months ago and none of the lines have been upgraded or anything since then). I'm planning to move them all to separate prepaid services through another carrier.
I'm doing my best to gather enough information about how to go about moving all three of these family plan lines with the least amount of hassle , so I've got some questions I hope I can get answered. Thanks for any assistance!
This is my understanding:
-I'll need to contact my new carrier to have a given number ported, correct? And that line will be subsequently cancelled on Verizon's end, with no ETFs since none of the lines are tied to a contract?
-Should I port the second and third lines first and not port the primary number (mine) first, so asto not cancel all the lines of service before they're ported? I'm okay porting one number at a time AKA separately instead of all at once if that simplifies the transfer process.
-When the porting process takes place and my Verizon service is cancelled, does Verizon prorate the remaining days on my billing period from the date it's cancelled, or do they still bill up to the end of the cycle? I hear it's better to wait until the end of my billing cycle (which for me is the 9th of every month) to initiate the transfer(s) so that I don't have any billing issues, but moving all three numbers on one day (even separately) sounds kinda daunting.
-Do the phones I currently have under Verizon simply "disconnect" or deactivate once service is cancelled? Will they no longer be associated with my family plan lines and therefore be free to be resold or handed off to other family members who are using Verizon? I notice many phones on eBay/Craigslist list a "cleared ESN" as a requirement for someone to activate a used phone on Verizon and wanted to know what that was about.

You have already paid for the current month's service - you are billed in advance for the coming month. What WILL be billed is any texting, roaming calls, data charges, etc, that have occurred during the month that were NOT billed in advance. I hear it's better to wait until the end of my billing cycle (which for me is the 9th of every month) to initiate the transfer(s) so that I don't have any billing issues, but moving all three numbers on one day (even separately) sounds kinda daunting. But YOU don't have to do anything - your new carrier will deal with it, and it seems to me it would be better to end the service on all three at one time, since it is one account. You can ask your new carrier what they recommend. There should be no issues with porting all three lines at once.

It may take several days for the numbers to fully port over and have all services working correctly, and for the old phones to be fully "released" from your account to be used on another Verizon account. I would wait a week or so after the port, then call CS and check the ESN status of the old phones to see if they are "clear".

I want to eliminate an autofill choice that pops up when I sign into yahoo using the Firefox browser. I tried yahoo help which said hover over the unwanted line and press delete, but that did not work. Do you know how I can get rid of this autofill? I am using a Mac if that makes a difference. My 06' Macbook Pro crashed with vertical, green pixelated lines and now will not advance past the turn-on screen with the apple filled with green lines as well. Then, it says to hold down the power button to restart. I have tried several times to get it past this point but tnothing helped.
I have an appointment at the Apple store today, but was wondering : will all of the information and files on my desktop be lost? Or is this a logic board problem?
Any help is much MUCH appricated.I'm not sure, if you're out of warrenty it'll cost quite a bit for the replacement of the logic board replacement...unless you have apple care. you could ask apple to try and recover your hard drive but i'm not sure.

Yes, I started with a Layout template. Yes, I did copy some text from Word - and this is some of the text with the problem so I will try deleting it and typing in the original text. But other parts that I am having problems with seems to be the previous boxes which were there as the template that I deleted - somehow their 'shadows' seem to still be there but only shows in print but not on my screen. If there is any other info I can provide to help you help me, please let me know!

I hope you can help me. I purchased adobe captivate 8 on line and when I click on the email link to download, it comes up with 7 programs, some are 64 bit and some are not, my computer is 32 bit. I am not sure which of these 7 to download? All or just the 4 non 64 bit?
I tracked down the problem with the download and installation, my windows 7 was missing a file and after reinstalling windows everything worked out. The first 32 bit program in their list was used. I hope this can help others.

I create name plaques using TypeStyler, but my laser cutter says they must be converted into two vector files; a cut file to cut the outlines of all the letters and an "etch" to etch the letter intersect lines. Can AI convert my TypeStyler file into a cut file and an etch file?

Does it automatically make folders named after the volume labels? And does it handle the conversion of spaces and non-alphanumeric characters to octal codes?
I could read the script but it would be faster for everyone reading, if you leave the answer as a reply.
I also think that there should be some major work done on modernizing the fstab, either by replacing it with a better implementation of file system mounting or changing the file structure and adding in better handling of non-alphanumerics. I don't want to have to look up a stupid octal table every time I type in my labels. -
