Help iOS 8 download to iphone 5-now frozen on Itunes/plug-in screen. Already tried holding down power & home screen for 10 seconds - no luck. Anyone have any other ideas as I'm trying to avoid a factore restart.... :-(.

when you have iTunes logo with the use port showing on your iPhone 5 , it needs to place your iPhone in recovery mode. Hope you have back up your data before the update .
Here is is the step
1. Check you iTunes version software 11.3 or 11.4
2. Turn off your device . If you are having issue turning off the device, force quit by pressing and holding the power button and home button at the same time until the device is off.
3. Connect the use cable to your Pc or Mac and
Press and hold the home button while connecting the other end of the usb cable to your iPhone/ iPad / iPod .
continue to press and hold the home button until you see the iTunes logo with usb cable port on the
on the screen of your device And release .
4. On your pc or Mac. will show a message iTunes has detected your iPhone in recovery mode you must restore before you can use iTunes.
5. Click ok
6. Restore .
These process can be use also when your device is disabled with a passcode locked.....

If it is asking for account details then it might just need you to confirm your account before it lets you proceed. Maybe the terms and conditions changed since last time or something like that. Try signing into your Apple account in iTunes on a computer first to check that. Then restart the phone and try again.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

What happens when you go to the web based mail for your email account?
Are you able to login and send / receive messages from the web?
If so, you might need to check outgoing email settings on your iPhone
Settings > Mail, Contacts Calendars
Tap on the account you are having an issue with
Tap on the email address beside the word Account
Tap on info beside SMTP (SMTP = outgoing mail server)
Tap on the SMTP server name again.
Make sure server is turned on
Check settings & port info, password, etc.

That makes no sense . Can you take a screenshot and show me? hold home button and power for about 2 sec then on computer import the photo (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083) and upload it here. Have you restarted the iphone yet?

There is no accessible storage so that is why it needs to reload. The time it take is dependent on your network. Not sure why it is freezing this time but you may want to try a reboot (hold the menu and down arrow for a few seconds until the light starts flashing and then release)

How to delete IOS 8 download from iPhone 5S?

IOS 8 was automatically downloaded to my iPhone 5S. I didn't realize that was going to happen (I discovered since that I had automatic downloads set to "yes"). I have not installed the download of IOS 8; and I don't want to, at least not yet. But that install module is taking up several GBs of my memory and I would like to delete it. However, I can't figure out how to do that.

Hello, flowerpet1. Thank you for your reply. Interestingly, your instructions worked on my iPad Mini, where I had the same problem. The update module was listed under "Usage" and I was able to delete it. Although I still have the red circle with "1" in it over my Settings icon on the home page, the status under Software Update is now "Download and Install" instead of just "Install". Also, the available storage on the Usage screen has increased by about 4.2 GB.
On my iPhone 5S, however, I'm not quite sure what the situation is now. The IOS 8 update module does not show under "Usage". However, the status under Software Update has also changed to "Download and Install" instead of just "Install"--but without my doing anything to the phone. Maybe the update file was removed from the phone when I removed it from the iPad. I don't remember what the available storage was before, so I don't know if I recouped any space.
Anyway, your reply was a big help. Thank you very much.

IOS6 downloaded for iPhone 4, now phone requires factory restore?

I just attempted to download iOS6 for my iPhone 4. Not sure if it downloaded all the way. But at one point after starting the download, when I looked at the phone, it was powered off. When I tried to turn it on, it forced me to plug into iTunes. iTunes then tried to force me to do the factory restore to wipe out everything on my phone. I can't do this, because my photos and videos are not backed up anywhere. I don't understand why I have no other option than a full factory restore. Please help. I am so upset right now.

It's not normal. You may have a problem in your backup. You can try to restore as new, i.e. without your backup.

In order to get the App Store you must be running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8
To get there you must upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6 which requires an install DVD
You can call Apple and ask them for the install DVD. It will cost $19.95 plus shipping
Once you have upgraded your Mac to Snow Leopard then you need to update it to 10.6.8
Then you will have the App Store you need
Backup first before you start any of the upgrade

First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Do the Update using iTunes on your Computer.
