Help! Ipad not turning, buttons not working!

My iPad sometimes stops turning sideways. Lock button, lower volume button not working. iPad hasn't been backed up in 20weeks but i don't know if that has to do with any thing. HELP!!!

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

Ipod Touch 4th generation 32G not turning on, not charging.
I have used multiple cords on both computer USB and wall USB converters. I let it sit there for over 20 min with each attempt.
It is not being detected by Itunes or my Windows 7 64bit OS. I have tried all 4 of my USB ports (both USB 2.0 and 3.0), with 3 different chargers.
Holding home and power button will not reset.
Tried taking it out of "DFU" mode but Itunes won't detect it, I didn't think that would work anyway.
NO DAMAGE, I have been very careful with it, aside from a few minor scratches. (that you can't even see unless the light reflects them)
My Itunes is up to date, as is my OS.
All I'm getting is a blank black screen. It has been working fine on this computer before. I have no idea what could have happened. I'm at my wits end here.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipad not working (i.e. freezing, not turning on, not unlocking)

My ipad was working fine until I clicked on the Safari app and it pull up incorrectly. When I had last used Safari (around 30 seconds before) it was working normally and had about five tabs open. When I pulled it up again only one tab was open (but it didn't show any of the web pages just a blank page and I couldn't click on anything). I thought I could easily fix the situation by turning my ipad off and turning it back on again. Nope. The first time it turned on it let me type in my password, but wouldn't unlock. It stayed frozen. I even heard the unlock click even thought the screen was frozen. From there I cannot turn off my ipad. I have to let it turn itself off (takes around 20-30 seconds). I've tried this four times and each time is exactly the same. And each time it gets harder and harder to turn on the ipad (e.g. I have to hold down the power button for longer and hold it down multiple of times). I also plugged it into my charger to see if the battery was close to dead and it wouldn't detect my charger. The only thing I can think of for making it do this is that I was updating an app, but it said that it didn't download so I clicked retry. As I stated earlier my ipad was working normally up until then.

  • My iPad Sleep/Wake button not working after upgrading to IOS 4.2.1

Since I uploading the OS system onto my iPad 3G, the Sleep/Wake button is inoperate. When I click this button, my iPad will not turn on (I press the Home button to activate my iPad). When my iPad is on and I press the Sleep/Wake button nothing happens.
I restored my iPad on iTunes which did not solve the issue. I have search this forum for any solutions and I have reviewed the iPad User to see if I miss something when I activated the update OS on my iPad.
Any other iPad users experiencing this issu? All recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, but I can't tell from your writeup how it is that you're actually using those controls. Some basic points:
    A. Merely pressing the Sleep/Wake (SW) button doesn't turn the machine on if it's off. Instead, you press & hold it until the white Apple logo appears.
    B. If you press Home and the machine comes to life, then it was not off, powered down. It was sleeping, or idle.
    C. When on, pressing/clicking SW should put the iPad to sleep.
If you can't put it to sleep by pressing SW, and can't shut it down by pressing & holding SW until the red slider appears, then you have some sort of a fault involving that switch itself and you're probably looking at a hardware replacement. Follow instructions in your User's Guide to start that process.

  • Ipad 1 power button not working

I dropped some water on my ipad 1 and it was working fine, except that hte power button stopped working. I let it sit there, and dry off, but to no avail. Then I drained the battery but every 30 seconds the symbol where it shows the dead batter blinking shows up without me even pressing anything. So i think that the power button is jammed, but it looks normal.

Take it into your local Apple Retail Store and have a Genius fix it for you. I recommend scheduling an appointment to the Genius bar so you can avoid wait times. Search your local Apple Store in the search bar on the Apple website, and schedule an appointment.

    Try calibrating the home button.
Open a stock app like Calendars or Notes.
Hold the power button until the red slider switch appears.
When it appears release the power button and press the home button until the home screen appears.
Hopefully your home button now works.

My phone will not turn off, has not done so for ages, Today I tried to upgrade which failed . Now my screen shows only the itunes symbol and a usb lead. When I connect to itunes it informs me the sim card is not supported though it works on other phones. HELP

    Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds.  Ignore the swipe to turn off message.

  • I Touch will not turn on or work with Computer

My Daughter has a I touch 16 gb 2nd generation. She has only had it about a two months and this morning after taking it off her docking system, it shut off and will not turn on. I have hooked it up to the Computer and Itunes will not recognize it. But when I put it on the docking system it turns on? Does anyone have anything that will help, The trouble shooting doesnt have anything in it to help. The battery indicator shows it fully charged when on the docking system. any help would be great thanks

First of all it is called an iPod Touch, not an iTouch. Sorry but it annoys me that people call it that. haha
When the iPod is connected to the dock, you say it that the indicator shows it fully charged. Are you talking about the big green battery or the little one in the top left corner?
You could try to put it into recovery mode:
    1. Hold down the power button for 3 second.
    2. Then, while keeping the power button held down, hold the home button down for 10 seconds.
    3. Release the Power button and just hold down the home button until a screen that shows a plug and the iTunes logo shows up.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Nano 6th generation will not turn on but works when plugged in to itunes?

My son got a nano 6th generation for christmas 2010 and brought it to me the other day because the screen would not turn on. I plugged it into itunes and it was there, all songs were still on it. I tried to trouble shoot the device after unplugging it by holding down the negative volume button and the sleep button for 10 seconds. I repeated the steps but nothing happened. I plugged it back into itunes and restored the device to original settings. Still no display. Will Apple exchange the device if it has not been 12 months since date of purchase? Please advise. I am at a loss.!

Since your iPod is still under the 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects, I would take it in to your local Apple Store/Genius bar and see if they'll replace it, which they should as long as they determine the cause its not from accidental damage or use.

  • Macbook pro not turning on, not charging

Its a 13 inch macbook pro. Was working fine till about last night.
Today morning, it didn't turn on.
I plugged it to the charger - the indicator had a faint green light, dimmer than usual, that never turned orange.
Even the battery indicator on the side is not showing anything. Its like the laptop is totally dead.
I don't think its a problem with the charger because as far as I remember , it had about 70% charge last night. but today, its just not turning on!!
My one year warranty got over about 10 days ago, so yes, I am panicking because this looks like a serious problem.
    Any help?

If the SMC reset as linked above doesn't work for you, try the following...
Make sure power adapter is removed.
Remove the bottom cover of the MacBook Pro (take note where the three long screws go).
Locate the power connector cable for the 'non-removable' battery (next to the memory modules).
Preferably using a small flat tool such as a small flat screwdriver or such, carefully pry the connector upwards by its edges until it comes off.
After a brief pause, reconnect the battery connector. This may cause the system to start up and fans etc. to activate.
Check to see if the screen is on and indicating startup and also press battery indicator button on the side to verify that the indicators light up.
    * If the system starts up normally, you can shut it down, replace the bottom cover, attach and plug in power adapter, verify the charge indicator lights up and perform the SMC RESET as linked In the above post for models with battery you cannot remove yourself and as I describe below.
    * If the screen has not come on during the 'startup activity' then hold down the power button to force shutdown.  Replace bottom cover, attach power adapter and verIfy charge IndIcator lIghts up, THEN perform the SMC RESET (Hold down left side SHIFT-CONTROL-OPTION keys whilst simultaneously pressing Power button for a few seconds, then release them together). Then press power button again to start the system and check normal operation. You MAY have to reset date and time.
Hope this helps and saves a trip to the Genius Bar.

It's still covered by Apple's 1 year warranty. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.
