  • IPhone 3GS not reconized in Windows 7 x64

    I am having a weird issue that began occurring some weeks back but only became an issue now because I need to sync to update to 3.1.3. I can't figure this one out and I don't think Apple tech support will be much help.
    I am using an iPhone 3GS running 3.1.2 on a Windows 7 x64 (Windows 7 Ultimate N Build 7600 V6.1 - RTM) machine that has iTunes 9.1.0.79. Every time I go to try and connect my device nothing happens. I get no bing notification that a device was connected, and iTunes does not recognize anything.
    At first I thought it was the cable. I ruled that out. It connects to my other machine fine and charges.
    I figured it might be my PC USB ports broken, they're all fine (I have a usb mic, keyboard, mouse and external) I've tried unplugging them all so it's just the iPhone and various other configurations. No luck there either. Also all the devices work fine.
    I thought iTunes might have got corrupted, so I did a full removal and reinstall as per (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923?viewlocale=en_US). No luck there either.
    I have downloaded the latest Chipset INF update from Intel and reinstalled. No effect there. Latest BIOS I just flashed now too to try and see if that was causing problems. No effect.
    I manually removed the iPhone driver by enabling an environment variable (devmgrshow_nonpresentdevices to 1) so I could see the iPhone driver in windows device manager, no effect there upon removing that (thought it might have been a corrupt iPhone driver).
    I don't run any anti virus or firewall software (besides my router) on the machine.
    It is not localized to my user profile (I made a new user to see if it was just mine that was having the problem, it wasn't)
    I'm out of ideas, what else could stop my computer from recognizing a device is connected? What's weird is this was working fine before.

    Thanks, no luck there either
    I have an Apple Expert calling me tonight so hopefully he can think of something.
    I just tried doing some USB Stack traces and the device is even hitting the USB stack (http://blogs.msdn.com/usbcoreblog/archive/2009/12/04/etw-in-the-windows-7-usb-co re-stack.aspx)
    I'd really like to try and delete the entire windows USB stack just in case but there's absolutely no documentation on how to do a reinstall of the usbhub.sys (I tried deleting everything related to usb, in driver cache and everything, ended up with no USB support at all due to unable to reinstall the drivers and what not - had to do a system restore)
    EDIT:
    Now this is starting to get a bit over my head.
    Windows recognizes the device being connected but then eventually throws a bunch of exceptions in the trace file.
    The very first exception thrown is:
    USBHUBETW_EVENT_HUB_PASTEXCEPTION: USB Hub Past Exception Logged
    with error: fid_DebugText: HubErr_SetUsbWakeFailed
    I'll try googling this around...
    Will update and keep people posted if this is a common problem!

  • Iphone 3GS not detected by Xcode

    I'm not sure if this is a problem with my phone or my computer. My phone is not being detected by Xcode and does not appear in the organizer. When I plug it in iPhoto opens automagically and sees the phone, but nothing appears in Xcode.
    It worked just fine a few days ago, my provisioning profile was set up and I was happily testing apps on the device. I have not changed or updated Xcode since, the phone simply stopped appearing.
    I've tried the following (in increasing order of desperation):
    Restart Iphone;
    Restart Xcode;
    Restart computer and phone;
    Open Xcode in 32-bit mode;
    Delete existing provisioning profile in Xcode;
    Restore Iphone from Itunes (on another computer than the one i'm using for development);
    Switch USB ports;
    Confirm I'm using the original Apple USB cord;
    Google furiously for answers;
    Things I haven't yet tried:
    Restore Iphone without restoring backup afterwards (will probably try next, but would be a hassle.);
    Borrow another Iphone to test on this computer;
    Give up & get an Android phone;
    I'm using an Iphone 3GS running iOS 4.0.2, Xcode 3.2.3, on OSX 10.6.3.
    Any help or insight would be much appreciated,
    Owen

    This seems to be a software issue.
    Removing & reinstalling Xcode solved it.
    Frustrating, but solvable.

  • IPhone 3Gs Not Detecting Carriers

    HI All,
    My iPhone 3Gs is not detecting any carriers.  I have just upgraded to ios 5.
    I have tried my SIM in another phone and it is working OK.  The phone was unlokced by O2 and I have tried an O2 SIM in it which also does not work.
    When I manually search for carriers then none are found.
    I'm beginning to think this is a hardware fault.
    Any ideas?

    Cheers for the reply.
    I left the phone overnight and then performed a normal restore.  The phone worked perfectly for a day, then got stuck on the apple symbol.  Since then I have not been able to restore at all.  When I try a restore it gets to the end of the process then I get the following error message:
    An unknown error has occurred (-1).
    I'm starting to face up to this being a hardware issue, but would welcome any feedback or potential things I can try to recover this phone.
    Cheers again.

  • IPod Touch not recognised by Windows 8 or iTunes whilst in Recovery mode.

    Hello!
    I recently updated my iTunes account and during the update on syncing my iPod touch (5th gen) my iPod put itself in to recovery mode and now both iTunes and my computer (in Windows 8) wont recognise my iPod.
    I've followed the steps here> https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT204095
    But I've had no success, the main stop I get to is when in Device Manager (where there are two entries under 'Other devices' both entries have a '!' in front of them and are listed as ' Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)')  in Windows when I get to "Install disk" and input-ing the file Apple support suggests, an error message comes up saying that the folder I've selected doesn't contain a compatible software driver for my device.
    On plugging in my iPod my computer makes the normal 3 pings and begins to charge with my ipod lighting up and saying to connect to iTunes, but Windows does not recognise it. I've tried my other USB ports, my other USB cable (all genuine Apple Parts) and I have tried another computer (also Windows) that did not recognise my iPod.
    I have confirmed that Apple Mobile device is supported in the programs and have restarted it as well.
    I've also removed and reinstalled iTunes and removed other 3rd party software (like the software for my mobile) as the article suggested. The only thing I haven't done is fully removed all my Apple Software entirely and then reloading it but I thought before I make this big leap I'd check if there were any other ideas from everyone.
    Any ideas? I'm a bit stumped with this as it seemingly happened for no other reason then iTunes updating.
    Thanks

    Yes I've got the original USB that the iPod came with and I've tried all 3 of my USB ports and my other USB devices are working with no issue.
    I've been through my antiVirus too and the internet firewall, disabling and then retrying, but with no changes.
    I think I'm just delaying the inevitable of taking the time to uninstall everything and start again.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Why is my iphone 3gs not detecting my sim card

    what is happening with this phone

    99% your iPhone is hacked/jailbroken, now you need the SIM from the carrier the iPhone was locked to.

  • IPhone 4s not recognized by windows 8 after updating iOS and stuck on "connect to itunes" screen

    I tried updating the iOS on my iPhone4s and now it is stuck on the connect to itunes screen. It also doesn't show up in the devices folder of my computer (windows8.1) but makes the notification sound when connected to a usb port. It also isn't recognized by itunes, but that's probably because the computer doesn't connect to it either.
    I've tried reinstalling iTunes multiple times, updating the driver for the usb port, and pressing the sleep/home buttons as i connect it but nothing has worked and I'm still stuck on the connect to itunes screen.
    Also, every now and then, the iphone screen blacks out and the disconnected from computer sound plays, then a second later connects again

  • A iPhone 4S (currently in possession of it) was dropped into the ocean and we can get it into DFU and recovery mode, but we can't get it to go to the lock screen or home screen the phone just gets stuck on the apple symbol, how can I fix this?

    Hey, apparently this iPhone 4S was dropped into the ocean and the light for the camera and a light where the 3G/4G bar is are both glowing. The iPhone 4S, I assume, was on iOS 5.1.1 I need help getting off info from it WITHOUT RESTORING IT. I'm not sure if Apple has any third party apps that they are allowed to suggest to us or if I'm on my own on this one, but if you guys can help I would greatly apperciate it.
    Thanks!

    Those are definitely features of liquid damage. First step after completely drying the iPhone would be battery replacement. The camera circuitry and proximity sensor circuitry are surging because you are seeing these lights.
    New battery may get this booted back up so you can recover data, or even get the iPhone working again.

  • Airplay not detected in windows 7 itunes.

    Airplay not detected on windows itunes even after windows update. Security & windows firewall not an issue. Please assist in re-installing the airplay option in my windows 7 itunes.

    I, too, have the same problem. I have read multiple posts, but nothing works. It all began with an iTunes update. Airplay, my ATV, home sharing, and Apple Remote all worked. Now, everything that is dependent on iTunes does not work.
    They are all on the same network.  I have checked it and changed it multiple times. My ATV retrieves photos from my Win 7 HP computer fine, but iTunes might as well not exist. The ATV won't see iTunes through home sharing. None of my AirPlay devices are recognized by iTunes. There isn't even the icon. Remote doesn't recognize the iTunes library either.
    I have reinstalled iTunes several times. Shut down and restarted everything several times. On two occasions, it all worked for a short time, so I know it can work. But I can't replicate that, no matter what I do.
    I have disabled Norton security (and updated it). No difference. I shouldn't have to remove it since it all worked before the iTunes update. That's why I believe it is an iTunes issue. It once worked. Everything else works.
