Help! :( iPhone 4 completely dead.

Hey guys..so yesterday my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) went completely dead. Still had a full battery and I set it down for a couple of minutes and when I picked it back up again it wouldn't turn on. I plugged the charger back and still nothing happened. I made my trip to the apple store and made an apt with the genius bar and they couldn't even solve the problem. I've tried doing the hard reset multiple times, from 20 seconds to about 60 and still nothing. Can anyone help me figure this out and fix it? I'd have to pay $149 or $199 to replace it and frankly I think that's not right since I had nothing to do with it malfunctioning. Any help would be grand! xx

There's nothing much anyone here can do about it. If they told you at the Apple Store that you would have to pay for a replacement because it's out of warranty, then that's what you'll have to do. It doesn't matter whether or not you had anything to do with it. The warranty is 1 year. If that's expired, you have to pay. Just like any other warranty on anything you buy.

Can someone help please..? After down loading to the latest software verssion 5.0. My iPhone went completely dead. Can't swith on any more. What can I do?

Hi, thank you very much for your reply. No my phone was never been jailbreak-ed. Never been dropped in water or in any wet surface. Dropped on the floor while texting yes, but it was just a one time incident, last year august i can clearly remember, but after that no more (phone still works fine even after.) restored the phone again earlier, but problem still occured. Will try to go to Apple also to ask and have it checked.  Just worried because my phone is already out of warranty. Will keep you posted. Again, thanks. If you have any more advice just let me know. It would mean a lot.
    Cheers,

  • Help iphone 4S went dead, no drop, no water. Docked to pc and came up w/ error that it could not be restored

Help iphone 4S went dead, I did not drop it, docked to PC and error came up that it can't be restored

    Hi
I followed this guy's instructions and it worked:
    http://evsiphone.blogspot.com/2009/05/iphone-iphone-could-not-be-restored.html
I did disable the security (AVG and Zone Alarm) when I tried on my own PC. My wife's laptop which eventually got it working also uses AVG and Zone Alarm but on an XP O/S whereas my PC is Vista - maybe this is why.
    Cheers for you help.

  • IPhone 4 completely dead

    Hi there,
I tried to update my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 yesterday, as some of my recently updated apps had stopped working (I guessed this was a compatability issue?). This failed. I then followed the trouble shooting guide & it suggested I put the phone in recovery mode which I tried to do. However, the phone is now completely dead- it won't accept charge & is not recognised at all in itunes. I've tried the hard reset (holding home & power for 30s) but this doesn't do anything.
Has anyone seen anything like this before (have tried a few searches which haven't revealed anything) or have any suggestions? It's pretty annoying since I was only updating to keep my apps working & I now don't have a working phone!
    Thank you for any help!
    Matt

You may have done the procedure incorrectly and actually put it into DFU mode, Device Firmware Update. Follow these simple steps:
    1. Hold down the "home" + "power" button simultaneously.
    2. After 12 seconds of holding, release the home button and continue to hold the power button until the apply logo screen comes on
This should work, reply if you've had any luck.

  • Iphone 4 completly dead

doesn't charge, May be dead battery, constantly problems since thursday. First no sim card then a brick. This is a bad apple!

Connect your device to a mains charger, and press and hold both the lock (on/off switch) and the home button at the same time. Keep holding these two buttons until you see a faint empty battery/charging battery icon on your iPhone's screen. Once this appears, release the buttons, and leave it to continue charging. Once charged again you'll be able to use it.
Sometimes iPhones can 'freeze' in standby, which to the naked eye the device just appears locked, but all this time it's actually draining battery extremely fast, so the next time you go to use it, it's completely dead. The above method forces the iPhone to reboot, using power from the mains, allowing it to continue charging back to a usable state.
If you don't see the charging logo appear on your device after holding the buttons, it'd be safe to assume your iPhone has some sort of hardware fault preventing it from powering on.

  • IPhone 4S completely dead - will not reboot with holding down sleep

We were using the phone, left it for a while, when I went to use it again it was completely dead. I then could not start it, charge it or reboot it using the sleep & home buttons.

Umm, thanks. I am on holiday at the moment. Do you think there is any chance of saving it?

  • Iphone 4 Completely Dead, Help??

So my iphone was on 70% battery when it suddenly went off, it would not turn back on. It will not charge and is not recognised in itunes, i have tried a different power supply still nothing. PLEASE do not suggest the the hold power button and home button IT DOES NOT WORK FOR ME, tried about 300 times even holding on to it for up to 5 minutes, ive tried reseting through itunes aswell.
I took it too apple and they said they dont know whats wrong with it and want me too pay for a new one (helpful) Shall i buy a replacement battery and swap the battery? any suggestions please, thankyou

If you have tried http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281 without success, you probably do need a new iPhone.  If you do a battery replacement you will take away any support from Apple including any kind of replacement at a reduced cost.  The only option then is pay the going rate for a new iPhone.
Did the Apple store offer an out-of-warranty replacement?  For an iPhone 4 that is $149.

  • HT201263 iphone has completely dead, it wont connect to power supply or PC and won't re charge

My iphone 4 has completely died - it wont connect to the power supply, wont connect to PC nothing - any suggestions ??

Maybe the fact that it's dead has something to do with it...?
If a reset didn't work, make an appointment at the Genius bar and let them look at it.

  • IPhone 4 completely dead after update to iOS 7, anything to be done?

I have an iPhone 4 that I updated to iOS 7 today. Everything was going well; I'd been using the phone normally for a few hours. I was trying to add a picture of a friend from an iMessage to their contact card, and was at the point where I'd hit okay, and was just waiting for it to complete. It took longer than expected, but I just let it sit, and then my screen went blank and turned to this:
The lines are not static (they appear to be moving horizontally, but not vertically), the screen is flickering, and the phone is completely unresponsive. I have tried force restarting by holding down the home and top button for up to a minute, plugging the phone into the wall socket, connecting the phone to my computer, and nothing has caused even the slightest change. I can't even get the screen to turn off.
My question is basically, is there any hope of recovering my phone? Is there anything I can do now? If I just wait for it to die, is there a chance I can restore it?

    hi there Stagamancer
Sorry i know this isnt relevant to your current discussion but would you able to find out on your iphone 4 do you have dynamic backgrounds soo frustrating that my Iphone 4 8GB doesnt show dynamic wallpapers which is a right shame to the ios 7 of iphone 4
if you could kindly check on your device
    thanks

  • Help  iPhone 5 completely black & white glow in the middle with pink lines vertically down the screen

i got my iphone 5 screen fixed, and since then the screen this is what has happend and I can't use it.

If Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider replaced the screen, bring it back and let them check the phone, repairs are also covered by a short warranty period.
If a 3rd party did replace the screen, you can't bring it to Apple to get it serviced, Apple does not allow others to do repairs on their devices. In that case, those who fixed the screen, have to do something about that.

  • IPhone 5 completely dead

I've tried numerous new chargers but it still wont turn on, what should i do?

I woud suggest that you make an appointment at your local Apple Store Genius Bar.  When you go in, take in your charger, your cable, and your iPhone.  They can diagnose and if it is still under warranty, they can repair or replace it for you.  If you are out of warranty, they can perform the out of warranty service for you for about $269 for an iPhone 5.

  • My iPhone 4S was completely dead

My iPhone was completely dead because I fell asleep at a low percentage. SO naturally I plugged it in when I woke up. I check my phone about 10-15 minutes later and my phone is at 60%. I unplugged it and it seems to be acting normal
But is this something I should get checked?

  • My iphone 4S is completely dead-can not turn it on and no indication on charging.  It is two weeks old!

I installed the latest software update and the next day the iphone is completely dead.  It does not turn on or off.  Connected to the charger, there is no indication of charging.  I have had this iphone for about two weeks.

Thanks for the advice.  I just went to try the hard restart and my phone came on (without the hard restart) showing 15% for battery life.  It was plugged in overnight (maybe a bad connection), but clearly something is very strange as it was fully charged as of about 4PM yesterday.  I have had an iphone for about three years (3GS) and never experienced this before.  It now seems to be charging but there is not the usual battery symbol on the screen.  I am guessing that I should somehow reload the software update (I have already done the update last Friday).  Any suggestions (or should I venture to the Apple Store just to have it checked out)?
