[Help]iPhone 5s screen won't turn on / won't play sounds

Hello, my name is Bryan.
I've got a problem with my iPhone 5s. I opened my iPhone to fix an issue with the home button (Watched a guide on youtube on how to achieve this), and I connected everything as it is supposed to go, my home button is working but now my screen won't turn on or the phone won't play any sounds. I know the phone it's on because I can connect it to the computer and the computer recognizes it. Also, I tried calling it, and it rings on the phone I am calling from, but my iPhone simply won't play any sounds...
I am also sure the phone is not in DFU mode.
Any help?
Thanks in advance,
- Bryan

It won't even vibrate or do anything, but it's on.

Is it the Home button that doesn't work, or the Power (Sleep/Wake) button? If the Power button works, you can switch it off. Not sure how you have been able to do anything without the Home button working?

    Hello Breejumpp,
Try Reset ( No Data will be lost )
Press and Hold the On/Off switch (On top your iPhone) and the Home Button (Button at the bottom of your iPhone screen). Hold both the keys simultaneously for atleast 10 to 15 seconds and you should see an Apple Logo coming up on your screen, once you see the Apple logo you can then release oth On/Off switch and Home button and wait for your iPhone's Home screen.

i was in home screen when suddenly and slowy my iphone 4 screen turns black. i have tried all the solutions that i could get from google but nothing seems to work. can anyone please tell me what to do?
i have tried also restoring it to factory default and nothing happens and now when im charging it using its original home charger its geting hot. csn snyone please tell me what to do? of course except sending it to appple service center...

Love it when you all Electrical Engineers do nothing to help this guy out except trolling another guy's posts with irrelevant information to the thread in-cause.
What did you want me to tell him?
That the in Li-polymer batteries, movements of ion between the negative and positive electrodes causes heat. That the enviromental effects and conditions in which his battery is kept might affect it?
Wanted to explain him what battery cycles are?
Sometimes people understand it easier if you put it easier.
As Einstein said it, make it simpler as possible, but not easier.
@In regard to the thread starter, it sounds to me that your Touchscreen is broken. It probably needs changing.

  • Macbook won't turn on, won't charge either (no green/amber light)

So I was cleaning my keyboard today (just with water and a towel) and after cleaning, the screen shut off but my macbook was still turned on (could hear the fans). It wouldn't respond to anything and I tried a hard shut down but this did not work either. I was forced to take the battery out to shut it down.
Now it won't turn on. I tried plugging it into my magsafe power adapter but it won't charge. There is no light (neither green or amber). My battery still has 2 green dots when I test it.
I've tried resetting the power settings by removing the charger, battery, and then holding the power down for 5 seconds. This did not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had a very similar problem. My battery died about nine months ago and I've been going off AC since then. It recently started not turning on though.. I closed the lid one day and went for a walk and when I came back about an hour later it was like it was in a constant sleep mode. Since then it turned on once successfully. But I am getting the same dim green light for about three seconds and then it goes full. When I try to turn it on the fan or hard drive (not sure) starts spinning and the screen flashes but then it just sits with the sleep light on. When I read your thread though I realized I may have gotten it wet when carrying it to and from my car. I no longer have a warranty or care plan or whatever so apple won't help me one bit. SO yeah I thought I'd share that and maybe it can help you somehow..

  • Won't turn on past the startup sound

    Hello,
I'm a student studying abroad right now in Senegal, part of Sub-saharan Africa (which might help for later on).
My iBook won't turn on past the startup apple noise (the daaaaauummm). When I press the power button it makes that noise, along with a minimal amount of internal processor noise, and then nothing past that. The internal noise basically stops, and nothing comes up on the monitor. This problem started yesterday--I was using my computer and then the screen started to go fuzzy and get static and then it just went blank. Although I said that I don't get anything past the startup noise, I think my computer is still on (even though it isn't doing anything) because if I want to get the startup noise again I have to force shutdown the computer (hold down the power button for 10 seconds). Furthermore, when I do get the startup noise, the lighted ring around where the power adapter plugs in goes from orange to yellow and stays yellow for a bit. However, no light illuminates around the power button on the computer.
At first I thought maybe there was a problem with my monitor. I followed two of Apple's troubleshooting steps, resetting my parameter RAM (I think holding control command P and R) as well as resetting my computer's PMU (shift control option and power button) and for both of those, I managed to actually get something on my screen--the apple with the gear around it popped up and stayed there, but then after about 3 seconds it got the same staticky and lines and then went black again. When I tried to replicate this by doing the exact same thing (for both solutions) I was not able to get past the startup sound (ie the screen stayed blank) and it was back to square one.
Basically, I'm stumped. There are power cuts here in Senegal, along with subsequent power surges when the power comes back on, which lead my Dad to think that maybe my motherboard got fried. However, there is a power adapter on the cord which should block against that. Furthermore, that won't explain why the laptop was working right before it fritzed out on me, even though it was not plugged in. I'm thinking that maybe there might be a bug in my computer (like a physical one that crawled in). I am thinking this because there are bugs that crawl around my computer and under my keys (it's not as gross as it sounds--well actually I guess it is...) and furthermore I was out of town this past weekend so my computer was sitting idly in my room. Could it be that a bug actually made it deeper into my computer? But also, that still wouldn't explain why I was able to make it work on Monday.
I will be here in Senegal for 3 more weeks, but I would like to use my computer before then. Is there anything I can try to fix myself here, or will I have to wait until I get back to the states. Is there anyway for me to al least get some of the stuff off of my harddrive--that's all I really care about? Obviously, there isn't an apple store here in Dakar, Senegal, for me to take it to--although there are a few computer places but it seems like Apples aren't too popular here, and so I'm not sure how effective/knowledgeable they'd be with a Mac. Plus I'd have to explain all of this in French, which wouldn't necessarily be the easiest thing.
    Thank you sooo much,
    Chris
And for my operating system, I'm not sure if I clicked the right one, but I know I'm on one of the newer ones (not the newest though)

Hi, Chris. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It sounds like you may be having logic board problems. Enough Dual USB G3 iBooks suffered from this problem that Apple began the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program in January of 2004. Check out the FAQ page and if the symptoms look familiar, give Apple a call.
Since it is past the three-year time limit, try calling and ask for Customer Relations (NOT Customer Service--they can't help you) and ask them to please make an exception to the three-year limit in your case.
You may want to consider trying the shim fix suggested by John Sawyer elsewhere here in the Displays Forum:
[Y]ou can often fix this yourself by removing the iBook's bottom housing, and placing a shim of any sort, about 1mm to 1.5mm thick, onto the raised square on the bottom shield. I use a Scotch mounting square--you can get them in hardware stores and many grocery stores. When you reinstall the bottom case, it will press against this shim, which will press against the graphics chip, and may allow the chip to come into better contact with the logic board.

Instructions for removing the lower case:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/50.5.0.html
Once you get it fixed, try never to pick it up by the left front corner alone. Rumor has it that can contribute to logic board failure when the case flexes, causing the graphics chip to come loose from the logic board. If you're picking it up in your left hand (as I often do mine), pick it up in the center under the trackpad.
Good luck. Let us know how things go.

  • Creative Zen 32GB won't turn on, won't reset, won't do anyth

    1. Make sure to state what player you have, and the firmware version. No idea the firmware version, the Zen won't turn on. I have the Creative Zen 32GB, bought in April, 2008.
    2. What you have tried so far to solve the problem.Plugged it in using the USB port to the computer. Tried the reset hole. It won't turn on or respond or do anything.
    5. Also add any other information that relates to the problem. The more information you give the more likely the problem will be solved quickly. Last week, I had to do the 'clean up' option after using the reset pin hole and another problem was fixed (that problem was that none of the music files were able to be seen via my computer). Then it worked fine, but now it won't turn on or do anything. The last thing I did was upload songs to it using Explorer, and re-labeling individual tracks by cleaning up names, album names, etc. Help, plz!?

i just got back from the mall.i visited the electroworld branch from which i purchased my zen. i explained to them what my problem is, at first they recharged the player in a usb port in front of me...then they also reformatted it too...told me to stick to the firmware that came with the product..the player responded and thanked them..but hr later, it blacked out again..i came back to the store manager showed him my zen ( he couldnt deny it doesnt have a problem ) and within minutes told me...they are going to give me a replacement. (the diagnosis was AUTO-OFF). they did and im very thankful. right now im charging the new player and hoping...i mean really hoping that this zen works. because im not going to waste my time again even with that warranty. if this zen is defecti've, im gonna li've with its defect..but im going to save up for the fruit's company in my next purchase..better yet why not a new pda...i can play music files in it, watch movies, save medical books etc..

  • Find my iPhone: How to turn off a Pending "Play Sound"?

So I'm at work with my iPad, and my Macbook Pro is at home.  On my iPad, I launched "Find my iPhone."  As expected, it couldn't locate the MBP because that machine is currently powered down.
So, (because I like to experiment with user interfaces) I tapped "Play Sound".  I assumed nothing would happen, since the MBP is powered down.  But now the app is displaying: "Pending: Play Sound".
I assume that this means that when my wife comes home from work and powers up the MBP, she'll be blasted with an annoying sound.  (Then she'll be startled, drop the computer, crack the screen, trip over the dog and break her leg.)
It seems unbelievable to me that I can't "revoke" this pending "Play Sound" in the meantime.  But I can't figure out how to do it.  Any suggestions?

Try removing the device from device list in Find my Mac.

  • Okay so my iPhone randomly shut off for NO reason at all. At 30% and everything. Now it won't turn on, won't charge, and won't be recognized on the computer. Help me?

I was cleaning, and had replied to a message before setting it down. I go back to check it about ten minutes later, and its just off. It will not turn on for anything, won't be recognized, and won't recognize the charger. Idk what to do. Help me?

If the battery is completely dead it may take some time before there is enough power in the battery to display even the rudimentary battery dead icon. Leave it charge over night. Still dead in the morning, take it to an Apple Store.

  • Iphone 5 screen not auto turning off

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference in how the new iPhone turns off.  With my iPhone 4, I'd drop it in the trouser pocket and it would shut off within the 5 minutes, as set with auto lock.  But for some reason the new phone stays on.  I've forgotten to manually shut off the screen and found the phone on and the battery almost empty.  Annoying, to say the least.  The settings are exactly as they were with my previous phone, so I'm wondering if the touch screen technology for the new phone is different.
Anyone else found this?  And, more importantly, has anyone else found a solution to fix it?

This is a real problem for my new iPhone 5. I have auto-lock set to one minute.  It works less than 50% of the time. I do have Assistive Touch turned on under Accessibility.  I had the same set-up on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5...never had a problem.  My battery is going down prematurely because of this.  Help.  Please.
UPDATE:  I tried the suggestion above.  When I touch the screen last...auto lock works.  If I don't, the screen stays on.  Thanks for the help.  I am hoping that a software update will fix this issue.  For now, I am happy to know about this temporary fix.

  • Iphone 4 shut down, won't turn on, won't charge and heating

I have the iPhone 4 only for 3 weeks now, the first day I bought it, the phone restart automatically every 3-5 minutes when I plugged it in into the computer, did a hard reset, restore to original setting and upgrade and didn't work. So I send it back to the distributor to fix it - so there go my 1st week of iphone 4 purchase. After a week got the unit back, it was ok for about 10 days or so until 2 days ago, I noticed that the phone won't charge over the night when I plug it into the wall charger. And yesterday I placed it for a charge over the night, this morning I noticed the battery is only 22% and when i pulled out the charger it shuts down. When I plug it back in, it came back on again, however not charging, and shuts down again after I pulled it out. Same thing with the computer plug. Tried to hard reset, but won't work, won't even turn on. So I plug it in and ran the BatteryDoctor app, it seems to fix the problem as it start chargin again, although my Iphone got quite warm in this process. That was morning. Now, the thing shuts down automatically, though the battery was still 40%, did a hard reset and won't work. So plugging it into the computer, it came back on, and again shuts down when it is pulled out, however this time hard reset works. This is starting to worry me. Is this a hardware problem?? I some threads that  people are having a shut down problem also. HELPPP!

Ok, so I went to try that and run the program it said I needed .Net Framework 4.0 installed, so I was on my way to update that so I could try to run the program.
Anyway, before I did that, a coworker comes by and I show her that my phone is dead. I unplug it from my computer (it's not charging or anything) and I start pressing the power button rapidly to show her it's dead. All of a sudden the screen turns on and shows me that the battery is drained and needs to be recharged. I quickly connect my phone back to the computer and it begins charging. After a few minutes the Apple logo appear and it is detected on my computer! It is currently charging and is seen in iTunes. All is well again.
What's weird is that I know for a FACT that the battery was not dead when the update was done. In fact the phone showed FULL battery right before I unplugged it the first time.
I don't know if it was a combination of the steps above or what, but whatever it was, I appreciate everyone's input.
