Help! iPhoto and notes have become unresponsive, what can I do? Etre check results here
this morning Notes was unresponsive when I click to share as a message, now iPhoto becomes unresponsive when I click to share. I ran etre check, and here are the results:

As has already been pointed out, you've got a lot of junk installed. The biggest problem is likely to be the Intego software, which is far too heavy-handed and is known to devour system resources and cause instability. You definitely need to remove it. Clinging to it simply because you pay for it is simply not logical if it is causing you problems. For less intrusive means of protecting yourself against malware, see my Mac Malware Guide.
You also need to clean out your login items list, which is extensive, and should uninstall any apps you're not using. (I see you have Turbo Tax 2011, for example... since it is now the 2013 tax season, you can probably uninstall the 2011 version at this point.) When uninstalling an app, be sure to use the uninstaller provided by the developer of that app. Do not simply drag it to the trash (unless it was purchased from the App Store), and do not use any general-purpose uninstallers like AppZapper or AppCleaner.

Note the problems that ShareKitHelper is causing. This is a part of the system, but I don't really know what it's for or why it is misbehaving. Something is causing it to hammer your processor and devour RAM, though. This may be an indication of deeper problems with your system, or may clear up after you pare down your overloaded system a bit.

But... you need to proceed very carefully or you might delete the wrong things.
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
If you have a Managed library, and also have copies in the Pictures Folder outside the Library, then they're the waste of space... -
Is there a way to use iPhoto and *not* have it import photos?

I'm transitioning from a PC to a Mac and everything is going fairly well -- overall a better user experience. One question I have is, is there a way to use iPhoto without having it import photos? My main issue is that currently iPhoto imports all the photos that I want to view/edit in iPhoto and copies them to it's own folder structure. I like to manage my pictures in a folder structure that I define, so I already back up my photos to another location and now I'm finding that iPhoto is just duplicating the pictures that I already have where I want them, sucking up precious space on my SSD.
So is there a way for me to just point iPhoto to a folder, make my edits on those photos, and have iPhoto automatically save those changes to the original folder I pointed it to, instead of duplicating the photos in it's own folder structure?
It occasional things like this that makes me miss some Windows features. In this case, I miss Windows Photo Gallery.Hm, ok so if I edit my photos (adjust brightness etc) in iPhoto and then export it, does it export with the brightness changed, or does it just export the original?
It exports whichever you choose - the edited version or the original.

NO you're not the only one. The protection against any data corruption is a good back up, and you need that for any data on any computer running any OS. But in the case of iPhoto, remember too that the original files are stored exactly as they are imported, in folders, in the filing system.
that when I go to export the photos, there's a LOT of duplicate file names that the export chokes on, which makes it very tedious, no, painful, for me to export a large number of photos.
Explore the options under File Name when you export from iPhoto using the File -> Export command

i dont know this normal or not this an 2 week old white macbook and the trackpad is sound weird and it depends on what surface you put it!
I had a similar problem and just found a fix for it.
My problem was that on one spot, the clicking seemed muffled, as if something was stuck underneath the trackpad, and near that spot, one time out of two, the click was twice as loud as normal, like it was "unsticking" something.
Anyways, I read that you could apply a good amount of pressure (as in push hard) on the whole trackpad (I used 6 fingers) for 2-3 seconds to fix this. It worked for me. I also read about gently hitting it with your fist... don't know if it works, but I didn't quite want to hit my MBP with my fist... -
I'm using Final Cut Pro X on my Mac, it often quits unexpectedly but i just restart it and all my projects etc havn't been altered.
Now it did the same again when i was working on a project that was less than 2mins long and a small file and FCPX quit unexpectedly. I restarted it as usual to find not only had my current project been wiped but the events as well.
When trying to import the clips again to an event, i named it the same as the original and got "this event name is already in use" even though there are no events open. Also when i attempted to reopen my current project from Finder it stated "this project can't be opened".
I'm quite upset to have lost the video i'd spent hours working on and would really like to recover it, is there anything I can do?That's really good news.
Now, I'm sure, you understand the importance of backing up your media, events and projects on at least one other hard drive.

Every time I try to open Iphoto '11 (as of today) the coloured wheel appears after a few seconds and the program becomes unresponsive. I assume I have a corrupt file but I cant do anything including accessing help. I have tried closing down and restarting but it dosnt help. Any ideas please?

Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

My iPhoto videos are not showing up in iMovie? I have quit, shut down my Mac and they still are not showing up? What can I do to resolve this?
It is also posible to go back to the imovie you had before, it is still on your computer - you go to Finder and it is in a folder in your programs. Many others have gone back to the old program, and perhaps I am also going to do that too.
In the new imovie it does not come up the question "do you want to download these videos ...."
You shall in imovie open your iphotolibrary in top on the left side,( it is standing under libraries) and you can see all the events you have in iphoto, then you can open the event, you shall use and drag the movies and pictures from the events in iphoto to an events in imovie. If you can,t see your libraries, you can click on a show button on top of the left side.
On the picture you see here iphoto is market on the top of the left side and the pictures to the left is my iphoto-events - and there I can open the one I shall use, and find my movies.
