Help!!!!!!!!!!! Ipod just wont be recognized by my windows.................

Hi,
Let me first thanks apple for their prompt (mis)service.
I had a small hitch when my i pod woudnt just charge on my windows PC.
I took it to the "authorized" service center and they found nothing wrong. They just erased all my data and reinstalled the i pod software.
All this was done on a Mac.
I was told that i must format the ipod after connecting it to the my windows PC.
Now the i pod connects and all. But it is just recognized as an external disk.
I try formatting it, the format window jus remains as such.
I am not able to format it at all.
Now my i pod is formatted for a Mac system.
i jus dont know how else to reformat it to suit my windows pc.
Believe it or not my ipod is just 4 months old.
Please help.

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restoring via iTunes.  For recovery mode see:

My 120GB IPod classic is not recognized by my Windows 7 PC.  When I plug the ipod into my computer I receive a message saying that the USD device is not recognized.  The Device Manager lists it as an Unknown Device.  I've tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, but it had no affect.  The odd thing is that our other iPod (160 GB Classic) is recognized on the same computer using the same USB cable.  When I plug the ipod in question into another PC, the PC seems to recognize the iPod and lists it in Windows Explorer (iTunes is not installed on this machine).  There seems to be something out of wack with this PC/iPod combo.  Any thoughts on what I can do to try to resolve this issue?  I tried all of the steps listed here, but they didn't help me.  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

i just updated the itunes to version 11.0.3.42.

    Hello rafiquethics,
The following article contains further information regarding this particular error and steps for resolving the issue.
    iPod: Cannot restore or update in iTunes with error 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436, or 1439

    Resolution
Note: If you have an iPod shuffle you may need to use the iPod Reset Utility to restore the iPod. If you are not sure which iPod you have, see Identifying iPod models.
To troubleshoot this issue, try the following solutions in this order:
Disconnect and reconnect your iPod to iTunes, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
Restart your computer and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again. Connecting to a USB 2.0 port is recommended. For Windows computers, refer to Identifying USB 2.0 ports on your computer for instructions.
Remove any USB devices not manufactured by Apple that you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse). Then, attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
Update to the latest version of iTunes, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
Try to restore or update the iPod again using a different user account for your computer. For example, create a new test user account on the computer with admin rights, and with iTunes installed, try to restore/update the iPod. For instructions on how to do this, follow steps under the heading "Restore using a new user account" inthis article.
Try disabling Disk Use on your iPod and attempt to restore or update the iPod again. If that doesn't work, try enabling Disk Use on your iPod and attempt to restore/update. Refer to Putting iPod into Disk Mode for instructions.
If using a Windows PC to restore or update your iPod, try to reregister ".dll" files as described under "Solution 1" in iTunes displays -50 error message when syncing iPod on Windows XP
If using a Windows PC, try to update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers, referring to the section titled "iPod only: Updating, or in some cases reinstalling, the drivers for your computer's USB interface may resolve this issue."
    Cheers,
    Allen

  • My ipod just wont go hom or power off e stuck in settings help please it was my brothers that recntly passed away

    Stuck in settings

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod Shuffle wont be recognized on Itunes and wont update/restore

    Its driving me crazy.
the Itunes wont recognize it because it says there is another user using the softwear and all of the other acounts are logged out.
when I tried restore or update it, it tells me "Ipod service error". so bassicaly im stuck and I cant format it or nothing. and I tried like a million times to take it out and plug it back in.
Ipod and apple stuff in general have too many restriction and standards that you have to have for their stuff to work right.

Neither of 2 iPod Shuffles (both 1GB) will allow version 1.1.4 software to install - various errors occur: "can't unmount", another user is using it, an unexpected error occurred (-147 or somesuch), and of all these, the last one most frequent and varied in timing (i.e. doesn't return immediately but takes between 10 seconds and 2 minutes to return error).
So the nicely buillt-in iPod Updated does download the appropriate software (cool!) but seems to hang up with the Shuffle with various errors. Tried the 5 Rs per ipod on support.apple.com, and also made Shuffle was only connected iPod, as there are 2 firewire-based 30 and 60 GB iPods, 1 60 GB USB iPod, a mini, and 2 shuffles. Lots of wires but all connected to a powered hub or two, so easy to disconnect. Nice wanrings on low USB power levels but just in case…

Hold Sleep/Wake + Home buttons down for at least 30 seconds. Then see if it will come back on. Also, try holding the Home button down when plugging the unit into the USB cord (w/iTunes open).
