Help : Ipod Nano 1G Replacement Program

Hi,
At 14/03/2012 was my Ipod send to my home for the Ipod Nano 1G Replacement Program. Now (25/04/2012), I still havent got anything back. What should I do ?

    I have an iPod nano 1st Generation that is eligible for replacement, My nano's battery can handle 1 hour of music before it drains.
    I ordered a new battery and one week ago a new battery (OEM) arrived by mail and I opened my iPod to replace it myself, I didn't manage to replace it , ruined the new battery and I ordered a new one.
    Then Apple came out with the replacement program!
    My question is if Apple will accept the currently opened non-working unit for replacement?

    Enter your serial number here https://supportform.apple.com/201110/ to see if it qualifies for replacement. The program does not care about the unit's condition as long as it is one of the units that is being recalled. I wouldn't mention the battery replacement if  I were in your shoes, unless they ask you for some reason.

    It sounds like your iPod is not recognized in either Explorer, or in iTunes on your PC. That can be frustrating, expecially when its a new device. I recommend you use the following article to help resolve that issue named:

    Ten days ago i sent my ipod Nano for replacement (using the packaging Apple sent to me).  Since then i have checked the progress online and all it shows is that they sent me the packaging, but not that they had received the ipod.  I need to email or phone them, but can't seem to find either one.  Is anyone able to help me?

    You can track it on the carriers site - if you have a copy of the tracking label.
    Depending on where it is going - if it is going by UPS - it may be held up due to Weather in Tennessee.
    Anyway - the tracking will show when it was picked up, dropped off, and where it is sitting.

    Looks like we are gettihg six gens as the first have started to hit the mat in the UK if you had replacment pending in November.

    I sent my 1st generation nano back on Monday and got my replacement today (Thursday).  Apple is FAST! Kudos for great customer service.  However, I also got the 6th gen. silver 8gb nano like deggie said although I didn't know that it was refurbished and I am very disappointed.  This is the super-tiny nano that I'm guessing no one liked because they redesigned it after 1 generation.  If they were sending refurbished nanos, I would have much preferred any generation but the 3rd or 6th generation or at least the option of choosing from what was available.  All of the others look very similar to the 1st generation which I really liked.  That said, the 6th gen. does have more memory than my original and has some additional features but I think I would have rather kept my old one.  I said I think because I haven't used the "new" one and I might get used to it.  Something to consider if you are happy with your 1st generation nano.

    I had a nano which I sold to my brother. The nano was purchased less than a month after the release so the warranty is over. He mentioned to me the other day that his battery was lasting less than 4 hours. I turned off the EQ for him, that has helped a little however, no great amount.
    *Has anybody used the battery replacement program? ($60 = iPod exchange)
    *Will they give him a 2G nano?
    *Should I tell him to go through apple or a third party?(which 3rd party?)
    The iPod is great, but less then 1.5 years on a battery is not.

    I have not used the 60 dollar exchange program however I did change my own battery. It is a little bit of a challange, but not real hard. You can get one that is a higher capicity then the one that apple puts in the nano. They are around 30 dollars if you do it yourself and a little bit higher if they do it.
    You will also get the same type of ipod back, i.e. first gen, you get a first gen.
    I have used both these vendors and they have been reliable. Ipodmods.com and ifixipodsfast.com Both are in the U.S. not sure where you are from but you could always google for a third party.

    If your iPod is "damaged," that would not be covered by any warranty.
    The only ongoing "replacement program" for iPods that I know of is for the 1st gen iPod nano, because some had defective batteries.

  • PLEASE! BATTERY HELP IPOD NANO

    Please help me, i have just recieved my ipod nano about 2-3 weeks ago and i love it, but the battery last alot less than 14 hours. It is about half empty after only a hour or so of playing music only. I always put the hold on and use a short backlight and dont play games but i still cant figure out why the battery will not last 14 hours.

    The battery indicator can get out of sync and be visually inaccurate. There is a specific battery test to follow to determine if your battery is faulty and worthy of replacement by Apple.

  • Pleae help ipod Nano wont update, error message driving me insane!!!!

    I have a 2nd gen ipod nano which after originally connecting to itunes was fine, has now decided to not update and not even allow me to restore. I keep getting message that I need to type in administration password. The other message says unknown error .

    1. I can't update my iPod Product Red. I've downloaded the update, and when I click "update" in iTunes, it just sits there for hours saying its updating
    2. The first time I start windows, connect my iPod Nano and then start iTunes (or even the other way around, start itunes then connect ipod), my nano doesn't show up in itunes. I need to restart the service after plugging in the nano every single time!
    3. I cant restore my iPod Nano either, the same problem with the updating my ipod, the progress screen just goes back and forth for hours without doing anything, infact my nano just seems like it looses synch during both an update and a restore, because the do not disconnect message on the screen goes away once either update or restore process is started.
    Please help! This is my first ipod purchase and so far it is really disappointing me and frustrating, thanks

  • HELP, Ipod nano 4 GB v 1.2 not visible in itunes v7.02.16

    I did the update for Itunes v7.02.16 and after this my ipod nano 4 GB firmware v1.2 was not visible in itunes but in de windows explorer it was shown. I was more then a hour on the phone with a support guy, with the result (his opinion) that it was a hardware problem. His advice was updating the usb driver. I did, but the problems was not solved. I did the same install on 2 other computer and all gave the same problems, I've tried all the solutions on the faq etc, the 5 R's etc.
    A strange thing is that de diagnostic in Itunes tells me all the information about the connectec ipod, it shows the serial nummer. name, busspeed, firmware etc.
    WHO can help, my mind is empty.

    For the support guy (or gal)...I have an iPod nano 2 GB and when I plug it into my USB port (I have 2 ports and have tried both) iTunes opens but doesn't recognize that my iPod is connected. When I run iPod diagnostics through iTunes it says iPod Connection Status-Failed, even though it is connected. I cannot sync my iPod via iTunes. I have tried numerous troubleshooters on the apple.com support website without any success (reinstalling iTunes, etc.) I took it to an Apple store this weekend and when they hooked my iPod up with my cable, their Mac recognized my iPod. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

    Hello. I have registered for the ipod nano 1st generation recall program, and I did receive a padded envelope. However, on the direction provided, it said "Insert your iPod into the PLASTIC BAG provided in the padded envelope". My problem is that I did not receive a plastic bag, and I am worried because the direction told me to do so. So, what should I do? Would it be okay for me to just send my ipod without putting it in the plastic bag?

    Yes.  That will be just fine. If you are still worried, put it in a plastic baggy of your own.
