Help!  ipod not shuffling music

When I use my 3G iphone ipod to workout, it used to shuffle. Now, it will not shuffle and I have to manually advance to the next song which is extrememly annoying. Can someone please help

Page 62 if the manual:
"From the Now Playing screen, tap the album cover.
The repeat, Genius, and shuffle controls and the scrubber bar appear. You can see
elapsed time, remaining time, and the song number. The song’s lyrics also appear, if
you’ve added them to the song in iTunes. "

  • IPod not syncing music

I have an iPod 5 with the latest update. And in addition to the other problems I have met with this new iOS7, the biggest is not syncing music. At first it just didn't sync new music. I would unplug it and start over and resync many times but to no avail. I eventually removed all music and then tried readding them and now only the first song of each album shows up. Then I tried restoring the iPod and that appearently made it worse because now less songs than before are showing up. I have over 2000 songs but still plenty of room for more so that can't be it and the songs that do appear now appear twice for some reason. One is apparently the purchased file and the other one is for icloud.

    Hello nobunaga1981!
This is the forum for iPod Touch, your query should be posted on the iPod Classic forum. In regard to your issue, Have you authorized and deauthorized your computer in iTunes to sync content from that computer to your iPod? as you have changed hard drives on your computer.
Or another option would be to uncheck "Sync Music" apply the changes and then check it again and apply the changes,
and see if that sync's content onto your iPod.
    How old is the iPod?
I would've recommended that you try a restore on the iPod, but from your post I see you have done multiple things to try and fix the problem. If the above options don't work, the only advice I can give you is to drop in to your nearest Apple Store and make an appointment at the Genius Bar to check the problem out.
Hope you get it sorted soon. Good luck! If anyone has experienced the same issue, post your solutions or recommendations.
    Best,

  • HELP - iPod not readable

Problem: When I connect iPod to my laptop I get the message 'iPod not readble - The iPod needs to be reformatted for use on your PC. Click on the update button below to run the iPod updater application that will allow you to reformat or restore your iPod'.
When I got this message the first time I clicked on the update button that can up, but it only confirmed that the software on my iPod was up to date. Confused, I decided to do a restore in the hope that that would solve the problem. Unfortunately that didn't help and I've continued to get the 'iPod not readable' message whenever I connect my iPod to my laptop.
When I go into My Computer it no longer recognises iPod and I only get a Removable Disk showing up.
I've downloaded and installed the most up to date versions of iPod updater and iTunes but that hasn't helped. I've tried repairing iTunes, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and a whole lot of other things.
I saw on another thread that reformating the disk in iPod has worked for someone else, but that hasn't helped either. I've tried in both disk and normal modes.
I've had iPod in diagnostic mode and it seems that iPod itself is OK.
I'm not sure where to go from here but everytime I connect iPod I get an 'Autoplay' box come up and then a message that 'iPod not readable'. Has anyone got any suggestions that I can try to get iPod working again?
    Thanks<<br>

I have dual USB 2.0 ports on my laptop, and have tried them both. I don't have a FireWire port though.
I did try my iPod on my work computer (which doesn't have iTunes on it) mainly in an effort to format the disk in Disk Utility that I was having trouble formatting on my laptop. Interestingly iPod also showed up as a Removable Disk on my work desktop as well. I would have thought that even without iTunes installed it still would have recognised iPod.
I've read on a couple of threads elsewhere that if you're having problems with iPod on a PC that you should try connecting it to a Mac (or vice versa). So I'm going to go and see the (hopefully) friendly people at my local computer store and see if they will let me connect my iPod to a Mac instore. Failing that I'm running out of ideas.
Anything else you can think of?

  • Ipod not shuffling songs

Ipod on iphone not shuffling songs

I have been driven nuts by this problem, and I finally cracked it today after reading through the forgoing and tearing my hair out.  Look at page 29 of the user manual, at the screen shots at the top.  Ignore the left one, just get your nano to show the middle screen.  No shuffle icons, none of the stuff you want, huh? Wrong! The one on the right of the page, the one you want, is there, out to the right!
So if you scroll the visible screen left, you get the third screen, the one that is on the right side of the page.  That's the one that has that shuffle control.  Mission accomplished, almost!  Just tap the shuffle icon.
This is a fault on the part of the manual writers, who clearly had to know the nano backwards, but who, as a result, didn't spoon-feed us enough. All it took was "Oh, by the way, if you want the second screen. you need to scroll across to it!"
Maybe they say it somewhere, but we all know that users don't read the manual, and when they do, they don't do it in a logical and sequential way.  Ah well, five weeks after a doofus shop assistant in Singapore messed it up, I have things going again.  Thanks to those who did the hard work and left the clues!  Me, I just flailed about irrationally until I got lucky

  • Please help - Ipod not recongised by itunes

I recently attempted deleting a couple of songs from my ipid which resulted in losing all 20G of files. Since then my Ipod is not recognised by my PC. I have completed all support reccomendatsions and returned the IPOD which was in tuen returned to me by Apple indicating there was no issue with it. They will not however provide any further support. I am going nmad with it.
The ipod appears in windows as removable media but does not show in Itunes. I have tried it on other machines with no result. Does anyone have any suggetsions???

  • Please help ipod not restoring

Hi everyone, ive been having some problems with my ipod lately. The 'sync to itunes' screen is showing on my ipod and i forced it into recovery mode in order to restore it. This worked and then my ipod was synced perfectly.
After this i used itunes to update some of my apps and then tried to re-sync my ipod. The apps were synced but all of my music/videos/photos etc were wiped off my ipod. So i tried to sync it once again and it went back to the 'sync to ipod' screen.
Again my only option was to restore it, but now when i try this procedure i just get an 'error 14' message and it doesnt restore.
    Any ideas?

OK - after hours and hours of fidling I have found a [partial] solution.
After posting above I tried restoring my iPod with the Firewall turned off. This changed the Error from (6) to (14) but otherwise the same symptoms.
I used a different computer (Windows XP Laptop) and iTunes to recover my iPod. This was a clean install of iTunes on the laptop. I took the OS 3.0 firmware out of the App Settings folder on my Vista PC and saved onto the laptop. On the laptop I shift-clicked the restore button when iTunes recognised the iPod in recovery mode and chose the OS 3.0 firmware.
Once recovered I completely uninstalled iTunes, Bonjour, Quicktime and Apple Mobile Device Service and used CCleaner to remove rougue registry entries. I also manually moved all the Apple/Apple Computer and iTunes/iPod folders in my Documents & Settings and Local Settings etc.
I then (with great trepidation) plugged my iPod into my Vista PC. I deleted the other iTunes library and its currently syncing with my music library. Fingers crossed the Sync completes.
I hope this helps someone else and I hope that Apple actually takes the crash reports and does something with them - I think its pretty poor that you can't log a support case and that the telephone helpline told me I needed to replace the iPod when there is clearly not a hardware problem.
Come on Apple - sort out your Windows/Vista support!

  • Help Can not add music to library

When i go to file- add file to library- and select the file(playlist) from windows media play it doesnt do anything no error message or anything. I am not good with computers so i need help. All the songs are mp3's. I dont know what to do.

When i go to file- add file to library- and select the file(playlist) from windows media play
Make sure that you are adding actual files - not a windows media player 'playlist'.
    1. Locate where you store the music files that you want (on your computer)
    2. Select the file(s) or album folder
    3. Move the file(s) to your iTunes library on your computer (usually: C: My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music)
    4. In iTunes: File > Add File to library ....Or Add Folder to library > locate the files, select them and add.
Note: It's best to chose a Media Player that you fancy the most to handle your media. If you use two media players to play the same files - then it may cause a conflict between them resulting in duplicate files, files that are not found and automatic renaming of files etc.
    Good luck

  • Help: ipod not recognized by computer(s)

    Hi,
my ipod (4G) has had problems: sometimes skipping songs. etc. So I decided to reset it. But the problem: It isn't seen by the PC (Windows XP) at the explorer level (same with iTunes), not by
the disk management, not by the ipod update (which dies with "internal error"). It's only seen at USB level. I installed a new updater, I changed USB, I tried 3 different computers.
Meanwhile the ipod freezes ever computer I connect. So no chkdisk, rstore or whatever is suggested.
What really annoys me: This is the 4th time with the fourth ipod this happens (It was changed 3 times by support - oncenow guarantee is lost). There must be some misconstruction within the ipod in general.
    Any ideas ?
    Regards,
    Christian

    Hi,
I've solved the problem. The problems occurs if you disconnect the ipod to often "unsafe". Then some files corrupt on the disc. Solution: restore ! But how, when PC is frozen.
    First:
Since nobody can give me help I tried and tried and then I noticed, that not the PC is frozen, but everything around the explorer. It has to do with explorer !
    Second:
After a long while, the ipod can be seen as removable disk.
Nothing ccould be done with it (explorer still frozen, no chance to something with other windows-tools).
    Third:
I read something about "external" tools for removable usb disks. I installed "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool", which has no "connection" to the explorer. This tool has seen the ipod as removable disk and could format it.
    Fourth:
After that the normal restore was possible and everything is fine now.

  • HELP ipod not recognised on PC

Help My Ipod does not show up on my PC. It does not dingdong when you plug it in. I have tried another ipod I have got ang that still picks up on the PC. I have tried restoring the Ipod, I have reinstalled Itunes, and I have checked the drivers on the PC and it does not show up there either???
    can you help please. Shaun

I tried a few things suggested and nothing worked. I always get the message "USB Device Not Recognized". And no matter what I do!
During the process I also found out that one of my thumb drives has the same issue. I tried other USB ports and the same. It is just these two devices that have this issue. I recently did a Windows update but don't know if that can have something to do with it. Before they both worked perfectly fine. I tried the thumb drive on another PC and it worked fine. So what ever is going on is very strange.
Also, while researching this board I found many others who had the same issue. There were very many views but very few replies, and if then from people like me. The few suggestions that were out there did not fix the issue. Sadly!
The question that I have is, "what is Apple doing to help?"

  • HELP: ipod not being recognized

I am using Windows XP and I recently downloaded the new iTunes 7. Now my ipod is not being recogized. When i plug it in, it charges, but a little icon appears on the bottom saying..."One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recogize it." Below that is a list of "Unused ports" but the one that is bolded, and I'm being told is being used, is an "Unknown Device."
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have no idea what Dell or Apple told you, so we'll start from the beginning.
First read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 I am assuming since you talked to Dell your USB Driver is up-to-date. Reload your USB Driver anyway follwing the steps in this article.
Next disconnect any USB Device you have connected other than your keyboard and mouse.
Connect your iPod to a USB port on the rear of your computer and see if your computer can recognize it. If it can, right click on the iPod and change the driver letter to a higher letter (M or P) and then reformat your iPod (FAT32 format).
If iTunes can now see your iPod, Restore it.

    Hi,
TO check if its your computer see if you have service pack 2 (right click on my computer and go to properties and click on the gneral tab) if not it can be downloaded at microsoft.com. If you have SP2, check it on someone elses computer who has the software installed. If you dont have anyone close to you who has a computer with the software installed check out the apple stores they do basic trouble shooting the store (you have to make a reservation at apple.com/retail, or you can make a walk in appointment). If you dont you can call apple support 1-800-275-2273. If you dont want to call support you can send your ipod in for repair at http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod
    Good Luck
