need help!!! Since yesterday my ipod touch 1st generation shows black screena dn then every 6 seconds spple logo,It wont switch off, just keeps doing this until battery goes flat.Tried restarting it,restoring settings, nothing works. If i plug it into computer eventually comes back to home page screen but when unplugged reverst back to apple logo.Any ideas?

Oops,i mean reset and restart, not restore.I need to get everything backed up first before i restore it all and lose it! At the moment it just has a black screen then apple logo and the top button wont switch it off.
I had a thought, yesterday i downloaded the latest itunes that popped up on the screen, could this have anything to do with it?

Basics from the user guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  Have these ALL been tried?

  • Ipod touch 2G is black screen and won't restore in Itunes (error 21)

I have aquired an Ipod touch 2g 16g that I was hoping to make a present to my daughter with.  The device is I guess what is called "Black Screen of Death".  I can't get any image to display on the Ipod when trying to charge (which it apparenlty accepts) the item or when trying to connect it to Itunes.  Itunes recongizes the item in recovery mode, and attempts to restore the item and consistantly gives the error 21 message.  I am using Windows 7 and have tried to restore the device on a laptop running Win XP with the exact same results.  The screen will turn white during the process, and the machine will from what I have read and believe go into DFU mode, but it stops with error 21.  I am a Noob and have googled and googled for a week now with no luck.  I have tried the reinstallation of Itunes, all the updates to both Itunes and the machine, no security software, the works.  I tried connecting it to older son's laptop running Win 7 which he uses for his Ipod 2g 32 gig without problems.  My device was recognized on his machine, and he said on his Itunes he briefly saw songs on the device he did not have on his machine/device in his library before it hung again in the recovery mode loop.  I have read different articles and tutorials on jailbreaking and tried loading just the 'oem" firmware from apple with Redsnow and thought i was successful.  The device went through the process of white screen, several boots/dings of on my PC, and then an image appeared on the Ipod of "loading Jailbreak data".  After a few moments/minutes it then began what I believe is displaying the "verbose" booting running the lines of text on the screen.  I then notice it to stop and give me an error of something to the affect of init failed, and then a "lan error, watchdog timeout, giving up, a long pause, then quick scrolls down the screen and reboot back to white screen.  Holding the power button or home/power button puts it right back to a black screen and in the Itunes recovery mode loop/error 21 again.  Can anyone please help me resolve this issue before I pull what's left of my hair out.  I would love to get this working for my daughter before her birthday.  Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

Common, no one has any ideas?  Well, don't know if this will help, but here's some new data to process.  I noticed that when I was trying to load the firmware with Redsnow w/o installing any options to include Cydia I got errors displayed on the Ipod such as WMR NAND format invalid; NANDLegacyFTL failed.  Someone has got to know something.  I would appreciate any ideas or thoughts from anyone with any idea.  Thanks

  • Black screen and apple logo! Help please!

My iPod 5g running on iOS 7.6 won't turn on. It just repeats the same pattern of black screen and the apple logo over and over. Help me please!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 2nd ATV displays black screen and apple logo on initial start up

I just hooked up my 2nd ATV and all I am getting is a black screen with the apple logo. I am using component video and composite audio. No HDMI hooked up. 1st ATV is unplugged. Also have network cable plugged in for now. Using timecapsule for wireless network. This is a second hand ATV, so it has been previously used and configured. I also attempted to hook up using an HDMI, but same result. I am not sure if the unit is trying to find the previous users network or not. The amber light flashes indicating start up. Nothing else on the screen, no question mark, rotating circle, just the logo. Every few minutes the screen goes blue (assuming it is my TV default colour) and then returns to the black screen and logo. I am on the correct TV input. Also tried, menu + '+' and menu + - on the remote for factory restore and screen settings.

I hope you are reffering to the possibility that the person I purchased the unit from may be a thief. I am working with him at the moment and building up to getting my cash back so he can deal with Apple. Thanks.
Sorry if my comments were misunderstood, I wasn't suggesting anyone was a thief, I was suggesting that without a receipt the store couldn't/shouldn't rely on the serial number to exchange/refund the tv, as proof of purchase.

  • Flickering between password screen and apple logo?

my ipad 2 keeps flickering between the password entry screen and the apple logo on a black screen every second, bleeping as it switches between the two screens. This will go on indefinitely and no individual button is receptive, for example you can not alter the beeping volume.
I have left the ipad until the battery drained, but when placed on charge it starts going through the same process, flickering between the two screens.  I have tried holding the home and power down buttons in as suggested on these forums but although it reboots as such it starts to beep and flicker between the two screens.
Has anyone any clues, the beeping is getting a little annoying.

Yes, it concerns me a little as well. Make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes and you could try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. That may be the issue causing iTunes to think that the iPad is an iPhone.
Before you try that, try different USB ports on your computer. Don't use a hub. Make sure you connect directly to the computer. You could try rebooting your computer as well.
Here are instructions to remove iTunes.
For Windows Vista or Windows 7

    For Windows XP

I know you feel this way too, but I don't want your situation to get any worse with trying too many things. I know you are "dead in the water" anyway with the iPad but still - you don't want to exacerbate the problem.

  • My ipad wont turn on after black screen and apple logo

i was playing on my ipad and then out of nowhere it turns off and the apple logo comes on. after about a minuete of the logo it disseapears and the screen become black again. i have tried holding both buttons down but it still wont turn on

    Hello dbrasif,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPad.  It is definitely inconvenient and frustrating when you are not able to access your iPad.
I recommend following these steps for the issue you described:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

Let the battery fully darain. After charging for an least an hour try a reset and restore. Use Recovery mode if necessary.
If not successful, then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Try a reset. Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the screen goes dark for a moment, then the Apple boot logo should reappear. If it doesn't work, it's broken, take it to the Apple store or another authorized repair service.
