HELP!! iPod won't recognise some MP3 files even though they're in iTunes

I downloaded a bunch of language lessons - all 120 of them! Problem is that of the 120, about 30 will not export from iTunes to iPod. I've updated the tags, swapped around the files. Nothing is working.
For example in the first folder there are 30 MP3 files, but only 23 will migrate across to iPod. Yet I can play all of them on the computer, but not on the iPod, because it won't even recognise the 7. I've looked at the file info etc .. and its exactly the same for all 30.
I have organised all files into a playlist, and I can easily play them from the computer, and they're all there. But 30 or so are missing on the iPod. Hmmmm??
Any clues?

Hey atlangley,
Thanks for the question. It may be that these songs did not download fully, or correctly. The best troubleshooting step may be to delete the songs from your library, and re-download using iTunes in the Cloud (if available in your country).
For more information, see the following:
Songs in iTunes may not play back completely
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4357
Symptoms
Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.
Resolution
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
1. Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
2. Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
3. Download your previously purchased song from this list.
Note: iTunes in the Cloud, which allows you to download previously purchased songs from the iTunes Store, is not available in every country. Learn if iTunes in the Cloud is offered in your country.
Thanks,
Matt M.

  • Cannot see files in music folder even though they play in itunes

I have my entire music folder on a NAS drive (lacie 500 gb ethernet disk mini). It has been working pretty well for a few months but now I can't see most of my music files, even though they show up in iTunes, and when I do "get info" it shows the location as the NAS drive (i.e., NAS drive:music:U2:achtung baby:03 One.mp3) and it will play the song(s). However, when I go to the NAS drive and click on the music folder, I can't actually see a U2 folder. And the music folder itself only shows about 20% of my library (even though 100% of the library shows up in iTunes and does play and all my random "get info" tests show that all of the music is on my NAS drive).
It's wonderful that the music isn't actually lost, but why are most of the music files hidden and how can I see them again? I have no music files on my macbook - everything is stored off the NAS drive. I'm about to get a backup drive, but I'm concerned that it won't back up these apparently "hidden" music files. I did search for the files (i.e., any file containing "U2" on my NAS drive and it came back as 0 files found, which is really odd. I mean, if that were true, why is iTunes pointing to the NAS drive as the source of the music files?
One other clue - I tried to consolidate my music library, which is relatively small (10.29 gb) -- and after about 5 minutes, it stopped and gave me an error message.
    Thanks in advance.

I honestly don't recall. I do however recall my sense of being overwhelmed as I realized belatedly what a huge project I'd undertaken in doing a clean install. I forgot how many weeks had gone into sorting out setup and drivers and apps and shortcuts and macros and on and on and on. So I started looking for faster, easier ways to get things done. So it's quite likely I just dragged the Documents folder on over.
Assuming that's the case, what's the best correction at this point?
    Thanks for the help, --Brian

  • ITunes 7.3 won't recognize some mp3 files

I'm using iTunes 7.3 on a dual-G5 with Mac OS X 10.4.10. After upgrading, I noticed that some tracks were missing from my iTunes Library, even though they are in the iTunes Music folder. When I tried to reimport these files (by dragging them from the Finder the iTunes Library), nothing happened.
Special notes: My iTunes Music folder is not in Users/Me/Music; it's on a second local hard drive. Also, I'm not entirely certain that this problem started after upgrading to iTunes 7.3; it could have happened under an earlier version and I just didn't notice.
Investigating a little bit further, I discovered that the problematic files were all MP3 format, at least as far as I can tell. I checked them out in Media Rage (trial download) and found that their ID3 tags were empty. Now, let me point out that these were files that I ripped myself from CD, probably several years ago since I have used AAC for my more recent rips. I do know that these files and their ID3 tags worked fine and within the last year or so, which means that somewhere along the line iTunes destroyed the ID3 tags and stopped recognizing these files.
I confirmed that these files can play properly in QuickTime player. I also tried adding the ID3 tags back in using Media Rage (and ID3 v2.3.0), but iTunes still will not recognize them.
I also tried completely reinstalling iTunes, by deleting Applications/iTunes, Users/Me/Music/iTunes, and all the Users/Me/Library/Preferences plists associated with iTunes, and then downloading iTunes from www.apple.com, but this didn't solve the problem either.

    I have the same problem.
I've had these songs in itunes & on my ipod before for awhile & they played just fine. I upgraded itunes & everything seemed fine, until I auto synced my ipod & I get this message saying that five files aren't copied to the ipod because the ipod won't play them. Then I try to play them in itunes & itunes won't play them, even though they show up in the library & are MP3s. Quicktime player & VLC both play these files still...
I have no idea what could cause the error for these random 5 songs, which are not related to each other & come off the same CDs as other songs which are still able to be played...

  • ITunes Won'r Recognize Some MP3 Files

I have 2400+ MP3 files in My Music folder. All were ripped using the same DVD-+RW drive, same software (WMP 10.0) and same settings (192Kbps). All were ripped within several days of each other, all from purchased CD albums.
When I tried to add these files to my brand new iTunes library (in order to transfer to my brand new 5G iPod) iTunes only recognized 1802 files. I attempted to manually add the files that weren't recognized, no joy (no error messages either, nothing). I researched the issue; I made sure the file folder permissions were appropriately set; I scanned the hard drive for physical defects; I defragmented the drive; I ran several ID3 tag verifier utilities; I played the "problem" MP3 files on every other music player software I own (WMP 10.0, RealPlayer, MusicMatch) and they played flawlessly. Lastly, I attempted to re-rip the files directly to iTunes from the original CDs; that worked, so I can safely assume there are no copyright or protected-file issues to deal with.
Short of re-ripping 600+ music files to iTunes manually, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to get these files onto iTunes?

  • ITunes 10.5 can't find any of my original files, even though they show in my library

I was hoping you could help me with iTunes 10.5. This update has been a pain. When I first installed it, my entire library was gone. Luckily, I saved the "iTunes Library" file before updating and copied it in place and my library appeared. But now the problem I'm having is that the iTunes can't find any of the "original" files, even though my iTunes Media file location has not changed (it's on an external network drive". When I click on the "Do you want to find the original file" I can find it in the appropriate folder. I checked the "Preferences" and under "Advanced" I re-mapped it to the appropriate location and already had the 2 boxes for iTunes organizing files checked. Then went to "File" and "Organize Library" and clicked the first check box and then got the "Copying Files" bar. When this was completed, I thought it would be able to find the original files. But I'm still getting the same error message about not being able to find the "original" files. Do you have any suggestions?

  • ITunes can't locate files, even though they never move.

My iTunes is set to copy new files to a dedicated music folder on an internal storage drive and to keep this folder organized. I have never moved this folder or edited anything within this folder.
Now, one day I start my iTunes and I'm greeted with thousands upon thousands of little exclamation marks telling me that iTunes can't locate the files. I made sure that the drive letter didn't change and that every file was still in there. There were too many songs missing to manually locate each song, so I highlighted my entire library and deleted it (while keeping the files, obviously). Several hours after re-adding my music library, everything was good and like it once was.
Not even a day later, I re-open iTunes to find that all the exclamation marks were back and that it could not locate any of my files again. This time I decide to go through all the steps properly by clearing the folder where the xml files are located, uninstalling iTunes, moving my music to an external hard drive and making sure there was no trace of iTunes left.
Ready to start again, I installed iTunes, set where I liked my files to be stored and set my other preferences (including "organize my iTunes folder" and "copy new files to iTunes Folder"). I then re-added my music and spent a day waiting for it to copy to the new iTunes folder. After this I deleted the folder that contained my originals and was left with a fresh install of iTunes and all my music was where I wanted it.
This worked for almost a whole month before thousands of songs went "missing" again. I simply don't know what to do. I can't keeping re-adding my library again and again because a few thousand songs went missing. Each time I do it, it just takes longer and longer and i'm sick of it.
Any help with my problem would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Presumably the location of the iTunes media folder is still correctly set in preferences when this happens?
One thing you can do to investigate this is to select a track that can't be found and go to Get Info>>Summary tab.
This will show you where iTunes thinks it is and the name of the file. Now find the file in Windows Explorer and compare the location and file name are they the same?
A thing that occurs to me is that you have other software on your PC that is able to move/rename files. Do you have anything like that?
Windows Media player has a check box that allows the renaming of files in Options, it's worth looking for that.

  • Won't grab correct album art, even though album is on iTunes store

Most of my albums get the correct art just fine, but a few give me trouble:
    1. Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero: The album is on iTunes, but it won't grab the art at all.
    2. The Clash - London Calling: It grabs a cover of London Calling, but a different version, with the title in the middle instead of in the upper left corner.
    3. The Strokes - Is This It: grabs a totally unrelated image of the band members.
The artists and title tags match the ones in the music store, so I don't know why it's not grabbing the correct art. What should I try?
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

iTunes is not always spot on with the correct artwork. So for the problem ones just get your own artwork and add them to the files. Google, then click the images link above the search box, then type in artist and album name and you shoudl find a few thousand version of the album cover. Save one to your desktop then drag and drop it into the artwork area you want to fix. Select the whole album at once first.

  • Script Alert: can't find .js files even though they're in the folder that the program looked in to?

I'm new to the whole After Effects community and I am currently using it for a project.
I followed a tutorial by Mt. Mograph on youtube and I downloaded the script "Ease and Wizz".
I have it as a panel and all, but every time I attempt to apply my desired expression, a popup box says that there is a script alert and it can't find the file for the expression.
Is there something that I'm doing wrong? I have tried to remove the script and download it again, but nothing has worked for me.

Try to copy "easingExpressions" folder that came with the script into this folder:

  • Ovi Suite does not recognise special MP3 files

My Ovi Suite does not import some of my MP3 files, even though they have proper ID3 tags (there are even albums where some files are recognised and others not, although I can see no difference in the "quality" of the tags). If I directly choose one of those to add, the program always states "0 files added".
I would like to get ALL of my MP3s (approx 2GB) into Ovi suite, not just 80%. Can anyone give me a hint why Ovi suite dislikes some of my files?
    Thanks!
    Fabian

    Hi,

  • App won't unzip file even though touch shows enough space

An easy one, I hope. My Reading Ally audiobook app won't unzip a 383mb file even though my touch shows more than 2 gb of space available. The app presents a message saying not enough space available. Any help appreciated.

I can't find any app called "Reading Ally". Do you perhaps mean Learning Ally? If so, are you using the lateset version of the app? Have you tried restarting your iPod (a full restart, from the "swipe to turn off"). Note that according to the company, the app does not work with Learning Ally WMAdownloadable (AudioAccess) books. They also say that if you have downloaded books prior to February 28, 2011 you will need to re-downloadthese titles.
If that's not the app you're referring to, please confirm the actual title of the app.
    Regards.

  • I want to transfer some mp3 files to my iPad from my Mac book pro...is this do-able and if so how do I do it?

I want to transfer some MP3 files from my Mac book pro to my Ipad.....is that doable?  I have connected my Ipad to my Mac but I don't see where to sync them together.
    HELP please!!!

The first thing that you should probably do is to turn off auto syncing just in case....or have you already done that?
Launch iTunes and got to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing.
Now you will have to launch iTunes on your own when you connect the iPad to the Mac. After you connect and start iTunes, click on your device, them click on the Summary Window. If you uncheck Manually Manage, etc. - then the option to select Sync only Selected Songs and Videos should be available. I don't think you can have both options selected at the same time.
You should also transfer your purchased music into iTunes is you haven't done that yet. Take a look at this now.
    Transfer purchases.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
After you transfer purchases, You should be able to select and choose whatever you want to sync with regard to music, playlists, albums, etc ...as well as apps, photos and so on.

  • MY PC WON'T RECOGNISE MY MP3 ZEN V PLAY

HELP!?I'm sick and tired of working on this f* machine! I've installed my software 30 times, and my computer won't recognise my MP3 player ZEN V, by creative. When I want to open my ZEN V Series Media Explorer it says: Your player is not connected. Please connect the player on to the computer. --> When I allready connected the player with the USB. It can load it's energy from the computer but it can't get any connection with it.. My old music is still on it but that's getting boring. Does ANYBODY know how to slove my problem because I can't wait till tommorow. (you get angry and frustrated after trying to solve the problem like about 5 times.)

Hey! Well okay, thanks! But if the file transfer isn't very fast, then whats the problem? Why did my computer work properly and why did it recognise my MP3 Zen V instantly, the file transfer speed was OK. and why doesn't it recognise it now, at all ?
The answer to that is right here:
btw, I installed my computer all over again a week ago and since (then) it doesn't work.[/quote]
When you reinstalled, you didn't install the Service Pack, and the Zen doesn't work without Service Pack or 2 (preferably 2.) If you can't get the Service Pack to install completely, where it shows in your System Properties, then you need to contact Microsoft Support because something is wrong with your Windows installation. Alternately, you can try reinstalling Windows again, then install the Service Pack. Either way, the Zen will not work until you can get the Service Pack working properly.
    Good luck!

  • I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working.  Please help.

I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working.  Please help.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version.  I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again.  I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again.  My blue tooth doesn't work either.  I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this.  When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue.  My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!!  I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue.  Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it.  Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

I don?t think that is the reason. I think there is some problem with the synchronization.
