  • Help ipod wont update songs!!!

my ipod and itunes are updated and i tried to update my ipod with newly downloaded songs from i tunes. it says do not disconnect and the little ipod thing comes up in itunes and updates the 158 songsor w/e. then i go to play them on my ipod but they arent there! they r inthe ipod file in itunes but not actually on my ipod! what do i do! ive spent hours on this helpppp.

I have been experiencing the same issues with my Ipod. A week ago my Ipod started to act up. I reset my Ipod and it showed the unhappy face icon. I plugged it into my computer and by the morning it was fixed. Today, however, I tried to update the songs on my Ipod. After updating Itunes said my ipod contained 2993 songs. I disconnected my Ipod an checked the settings:About and it said 2909 songs. I understand how frustrating this is and I wanted you to know that your not alone in this endevor. I also tried the above solutions but none succeed to solve the problem. Hopefully a solution will be brought to our attention soon.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

hmmmm. let's quickly check on this to begin with:

ok so i had trouble at first getting songs on it and then something came up saying name ur ipod and all that

The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.
There is very little detail in your post, consequently it's difficult to work out your problem. How is the iPod set to update? Is your iPod appearing even appearing in the Source list? Is it appearing but not updating? Check Preferences, which of the update methods above is it set to?

    Hey there,
I would check out this site. It may not say anything about your problem, but it still might be able to fix it. It's worth a shot.

Or you can attempt this method as given by turingtest2, but only if you hook it up to your PC.

  • Help mini wont play songs

I am not dissing your post but you are expecting to get an immediate answer, when there are hundreds of people here who are in the same position you are. I don't see them posting every 2 hours.
Look who's talking about lecturing, the one who told me to back off when I was trying to help you. I'm not helping nobody with that attitude. You wait for someone to show up and help you so guess what?? You are going to wait even longer now!!

  • IPod wont show songs under artists

    Referring to this website: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302773
    i have a question:
I am experiencing the same problem as described on that page. Only thing is, it is much more severe for me. I'm guessing that over 100 of my 900 songs wont show under artists.
Yet, most of my songs do not have an album name.
First question, why do only a part of those songs that don't have an album name not show under artists on my iPod?
Secondly, is there no easier way to get this problem fixed than giving the songs an album name? Firstly, it's impossible for me to know what songs do show and which are not shown under artists on my iPod, i only know a few. It's not like im going to go through all 900 songs to find this out. Secondly, i do not know the correct album name for each song. If i fix an album name, i want it to be correct and not made up in my head. Thirdly, it takes ages and ages to name albums for all songs that do not have album names.
So is there any easier way?

"First question, why do only a part of those songs that don't have an album name not show under artists on my iPod?"
It's a bug as far as I know, possibly in the future some update or change to iTunes and/or the iPod software will rectify it.
"Secondly, is there no easier way to get this problem fixed than giving the songs an album name"
At the moment, no there's not.
"it takes ages and ages to name albums for all songs that do not have album names"
Actually you can do it quite quickly. Sort your library by Album to bring all the blanks together. Click on the first song in the list and holding down the Shift key click on the last. This will highlight all in between . Right click on the list and chose Get Info, say yes when you are asked if you want to update multiple items. Put None or Unknown or any title of your choice in the album field and click OK. This should sort the problem out for you.
There's also one other thing that that contributes to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod and that is if the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.

  • IPOD auto. get songs from ITUNES?

My IPOD shuffle seems to automatically start to get any new songs I've added to Itunes...how do I stop this from automatically upating?
    Thanks for any help offered,
    Chris

    Jeff,
That link applies to all iPods EXCEPT the shuffle. The shuffle CANNOT be put into manual mode. Try it yourself, you'll see there's no such option in the shuffle's preferences.
Chris, what you are talking about is a different auto-syncing problem than Jeff's link talks about anyways. I haven't had this problem with my shuffle but maybe because it's always full so there's no room for any songs to be added. But I think the easiest way to prevent the shuffle from "autofiling" with new songs you add to the library, is to create a specific playlist of only the songs you want on the shuffle. Then at the bottom of the shuffle window, chose that playlist instead of "Library" next to "autofill from". (Autofill is only supposed to happen if you press the big autofill button so I'm not sure what's going on in your case.)
    Does that help?
    Sara.
