Help! is my motherboard faulty?

Hello,
I just bought a Neo 2 FISR2 motherboard with the 865PE chipset. I bought a P4 2.6 MHZ processor and 2 500MHZ ram sticks (512MB total) to go in it. I am using parts from my previous PC to upgrade. These parts are a Maxtor ATA133 hard drive and the other part that is at issue, my Gainward Ti42000 128MB G4 video card.
I noticed the warning notice about the installing 3.3V video cards in this motherboard, and I couldnt find out how many volts the Gainward is, but their are no jumpers on the card, so I dont think its a variable voltage card, and it has the 2 notches in the interface area so I assumed its an AGP4x and therefore not a 3.3V card.
So, anyway this is what happened. I put everything together and booted the system up fine. I tried to use the Promise IDE controller at first, but found that my current XP install wouldn't recognize it, so I switched it to a regular IDE slot. I then rebooted and got the WinXP logo load screen followed by a blue screen saying something about page fault...if this is the first time you get message reboot blah blah blah...if you get it repeatedly blah blah. So I rebooted with XP boot CD and reinstalled XP. Midway through the process I got a fatal installation error. I think that something is wrong with my CD because I tried reinstalling XP on my old setup after getting this, and got the same problem.
So, anyway, with the new motherboard, processor, ram and my Gainward video card, I rebooted after the setup error and my screen comes up blank. I try rebooting and same thing, my screen is blank. Everything is getting power, but my screen is blank, as if the monitor thinks my PC is off. I disconnect everything from the motherboard, reconnect a few hours later, and still same problem, everything blank. I try the video card on the old motherboard, everything blank also. So I thought my vid card was the problem. But then I waited like 6 hours, and tried again with my old motherboard, and it worked. So then I tried it with the new MSI motherboard, and it did not work. I went back to the old motherboard to make sure the video card was still working, and it was.
So is my MSI motherboard faulty? Or is the Video card a 3.3V video card? I cant seem to find out one way or the other from the manual or the Gainward website.
Any help is immensely appreciated.
Thanks

I read in one of the threads that this is not such a big problem, can't recall which one, but it is within two weeks if you want to search....

That 'regular' slot is better then the promise as it is supposed to be connected to the Southbridge of the mobo instead of the pci bus (I say supposed to as the device manager (on my 875 system btw) says it is on the pci bus)

Good thing you did reinstall, you can't just replace the -so to speak- backbone of your pc, and expect it to work perfectly

I think so too. I got the exact same error on my corporate edition winXP pro (Since I used to work at home the company I worked for gave me a license of some sort, not sure if it was all legal, but ok) Now I bought a new XP pro CD, completely legal and with service pack 1a and the problem disappeared, now I'm here typing (installed it last sunday)

Is there a D-bracket with your mobo, I believe there is?? anyway, install that, and post the light colors, that might help.... (The D-bracket is the one with two usb ports and four lights in case you don't know)

If this is a current system in where you had Windows installed and you just replaced those parts, then you will have to do a repair/install of windows due to different chipset drivers and whatnot. This might prevent you from having to do a complete format/re-install. Otherwise you might have to completely format your system. No other way around it.

  • Please help me locate motherboard documentation and diagram

I have purchased a Lenovo IdeaCentre K320-30192GU. For some strange reason, none of the manuals and none of the info on the Lenovo support site make any reference whatsoever to the motherboard. After a long session with the tech person at Lenovo support I was told that no information could be given to me that wasn't already on that site. (I have never owned a computer for which this information was not available.)  I would like to know the motherboard's ID and a documentation source. Some posts made reference to an app that would identify the processor, but this is not what I want. Any help would be very much appreciated.

  • Is my motherboard faulty again?

    Hello everyone,
At first, I want to excuse my bad English, and I hope someone help me.
Here I put the my PC specs:
    Motherboard: MSI P43 Neo (MS-7519 ver. 1.0)
    CPU: Intel E8400
GPU: Nvidia 9800GT XFX with 512 MB DDR3 RAM (order code PV-T98G-YDQ4)
    RAM: OCZ DDR2-800 PC2-6400 PLATINUM XTC2 x 2
PSU: LC Power LC6600 Silent 600W
    Case: Cooler Master CM690
I'm having some problems booting the PC if I have any USB device connected. In the first moments I had the motherboard, it was working great, instead of some times when I won't get the system response after the bootloader, and sometimes it also restarted itself.
After about 3 months, the problems have multiplied and the computer were booting only at some times, and then I was getting a BSOD (in Windows Vista) each about 4-6 hours. The windows error signal system told me to update the BIOS because there were problems communicating by RAM and CPU. So I updated the bios, and the system won't boot up (also the POST wasn't showed) for multiple times, each time I resetted the CMOS. After some times the system is started. The system also sometimes wasn't showing the POST.
So I contacted the seller, and I started an RMA process. After 9 days they tested the product, it resulted damaged, and they directly substitute it with a new one motherboard.
But now I am with the same problem: the system boot for how about 2 times, and after the problems returned, but for now I did not have any BSOD. The system won't go after the post if I've got any USB device attached. Sometimes also the system wasn't showing the POST.
I risked another time updating the BIOS, and so the situation changed a little. Now the system won't boot if I've any USB device attached. I updated the bios another time, and the system loaded the OS with also USB devices connected for only one time, and it also started immediately when I press the start button (because all other time it asked me about 3-5 seconds after start powering the system).
Now, what I do? Have I to insist substituting the motherboard, or request another model (but I think that the seller won't accord it to me)?
I tested RAM and it was good, booting the system out from the case won't resolve the problem.
Sorry for the very long (but detailed) post and I hope someone helps me. I'm so sad...

Quote from: youeffsee on 02-April-09, 03:57:25
That just might be your problem right there. Why did you update your bios in the 1st place.
You said in your 1st post that the system ran fine for 3 months or so.Is this right around the time you started flashing the bios?
Also flashing bios within windows is very risky....Did you use live update all these times to flash?
No. I used it only for the first and second time. The other times I updated from floppy. Sometimes (also in the first 3 months) the system didn't go after the bootloader.
The last times the system didn't go after the bootloader also if I had no USB peripherial connected, and for now I got 2 new BSODs after some time the system is turned on (with OS loaded succesfully).

  • Help find my motherboard model!

I own (kinda history) a dv 2112 tu! It's dead now - motherboard problem. Can any1 tell me wt the motherboard model is? I mean, its dead and I can't find the motherboard that used to be on the 2112 tu. Pls, reply quick and honestly. Preferred answers from those who own it!!!!!

I don't own one, but if you remove both RAM sticks, the model number of the mother board is underneath them ending in -001. The model number can be Googled or you can enter it in the ebay search box in your country.
If you lost the mother board then there are a few of them listed in the service manual on page 5-70.
     http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035657.pdf
Unfortunately your product specs are not listed so I can't tell you if you were running an Intel or AMD processor.
Here are a couple of examples from ebay US.
     http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=dv+2112+tu+mother+board&_sacat=0&_odkw=dv+2112+tu&_osacat=0&_trk...
     These people ship world wide.

I thought I would post what I have as you may never get a response from a dv2112 tu owner.

  • Help - I have two faulty 60GB iPod Videos

Hopefully someone here can offer some guidance. I have two 60GB iPod Videos (mine and the wife's) which are both two or three years old. Both of them are playing up. Mine freezes and crashes constantly. It starts with random blocks and dots, artifacts and graphical gliches appearing on screen as I navigate (everytime the week clicks the "pattern" changes) and then it will freeze and crash. I then have to do a reboot and then when it comes back on it is okay for a while, it may even play a whole album. Then I start it out of hibernation the next day and it happens again. Apart from that it is okay and it charges, connects to iTunes, etc. I am okay with opening it up to check it out. Anyone know what I have to replace to repair it?
My wife's iPod is something else. It had been missing for a month or so and then we found it at the back of a drawer. It was dead so I charged it, however, once it got passed the "the battery is extremely low" message and booted up proper it then froze my PC and stopped charging. My PC screen froze and only started working again when I disconnected it. I tried charging it on my laptop and the same thing happened - it froze the screen on the laptop. Finally I tried charging it through a wall plug adaptor and again it would not charge it past the low battery message. It works, but literally only for a few songs before the small charge on the battery runs out. Again, anyone know what is required to repair this problem?
I was thinking of either buying a faulty ipod off ebay and try to salvage parts to repair one or both of the above, or just using one to repair the other.
    Any ideas?

Have you tried restoring them to factory settings through itunes? Sounds like from your psot that you've reset them, but not restored them.
    Good luck!

  • Help with Keyboard-Motherboard ZIF Connector

I have a 1033CL Mini - I replaced the hard drive and in the process broke most of the motherboard-keyboard zif connector -
I am able to put the cable back in and close is with about half of the damaged zif but only abpout half of the keys work now -
I hate to have to buy a new motherboard to fix this problem -
    Any ideas?Thanks

The only fix I have ever seen is to epoxy the ribbon cable in there...apply some type of pressure while the cement dries...not a certain fix but you can't hurt anything trying it. You are likely going to need a new board and I hate to use you as an example but it illustrates why you should not casually try to repair a laptop. Even an experienced tech is one slip of the screwdriver away from a boat anchor. Think back to the old phrase frm WWII and gas rationing..."is this (repair) really necessary?"

  • PSU or Mobo or RAM? Help needed.

    Hi everybody.
I just upgraded my old nforce system to an nforce2 with a new K7N2G-L. The following is the configuration:
MSI K7N2G-L mobo using onboard video, audio and lan
    2 x Kingmax 256 mb 333mhz DDR Ram
300 Watt PSU with a case fan
    2500+ Barton
I came home, built the pc and pressed the power button but damn, it didnt work. It showed a memory problem. I was terrified. Switched memory slots, removed one, swapped them, tried all possible slots, nothing...
It just keeps telling that there is something wrong with the memory. Then I took my memory stick to a friend who has a soltec nf2 mobo with 350 watt psu. They worked pretty fine there. Nothing seemed wrong. Now I am wondering:
    * Is my PSU too weak? It has 20 amp for 3.3 Volts.
    * Are my rams not compatible with this board? (but compatible with soltec nf2)
    * Is my motherboard faulty? (So it cant post)
Ohhh, by the way, once in a 20 times maybe, I can have everything working. But without the HDD and CD Burner plugged in. I mean I can pass the bios post. But this is very rare.
I suspect that the problem is the weak psu. What do you recommend me to use with this conf? 350 watts or 400 watts?
    any brand will suffice?

Do you think this PSU will help me solve my problems? Can I be sure that my current PSU is not good? I am asking that because the local store where I will buy the PSU sells it for 110 CAD which makes about 80 USD. It is pretty expensive but I dont have another chance in this little town. I want to be sure that I need that PSU.
Another option is to buy TTGI 350W Dual Fan TT-350TS which is a little bit cheaper and gives the following:
    5   -> 35
    3.3 -> 28
    12  -> 16
    What do you recommend pros?
Yes, your PSU is weak! The TTGI you have listed seems to have enough power but as you can see Enermax puts out more. Antec & Enermax are probably the 2 top PSU's in the field I would recommend a 400W+. The PSU is one of the most important components in your rig so the bigger the better.

  • Archiving faulty Source file not working in Sender Adapter FCC

    Hi Experts,
I have enabled "Archiving Faulty Source File" in Sender Adapter FCC and pen down the directory path accordingly.
Likewise I also enable the processed mode as "archive" and give it the direcotory path.
However when there is a error flagged in sxmb_moni for this interface, I unable to see any file created in the error folder but I can see a file with timestamp being created in the archive folder.
I have checked the access right to the directory, so this is not an issue. I ran through the forum on this subject and come across the help.sap note on the following
" To archive source files where a permanent error occurred during processing, set the indicator.
A permanent error occurs either during the conversion of the file content, or in a module in the module processor.
More information: MessageTransformBean, Migrating Dispatcher Classes
    ○       Specify the Directory for Error Archiving.
    ○       To add a time stamp to the archived file, select Add Time Stamp. "
What is the definition as "permanent error". The error I got in sxmb_moni is a mapping conversion error, so it should be archive this to the error folder, right ?
Anyone have any such setting enabled and working ?
    Regards
    FNG

The error I got in sxmb_moni is a mapping conversion error, so it should be archive this to the error folder, right ?
No, it is not the case. As mentioned on the SAP Help site, for the faulty file to be archived, the error has to occur in content conversion, or in module processor.
If the error you are getting is in MONI, then it means syntactically the file is correct and hence adapter engine has picked up and sent to integration engine (SXMB_MONI).
