|HELP| Is the late 2009 iMac going to work fine with Video Editing ?

Hey guys,
I would like to know if a late 2009 iMac with an i7 processor could edit a short film in Adobe Premiere Pro and if it could do some things in Adobe After Effects.
Please let me know how it will perform ? Is it going to crash ? PLEASE HELP

Your system could use more RAM. However, it should run fine if you quit all other Apps and have plenty of free internal hard drive space.

Which chipset does the late 2009 iMac have?

Hello everyone especially Fortuny and The hatter!
I'm still having trouble with my Windows 7 installation and wondered if anyone knows what the make and model number of the late 2009 iMac chipset was... I.E. The controller that drives the chipset and Sata etc.
None of the chipset installs that come with Boot Camp install anything and it's still listed as a GENERIC device with a Microsoft Driver...
Intel, Nvidia, etc just doesn't install.

the best I could find is that the chipset is an Intel Series 5 chipset which Intel themselves use on their H55/Q57 mainboards.
Using the OSX Install DVD (no. 1) that came with your iMac should install the correct driver for it.
While in Windows you can copy the whole content of the OSX install disc and thus the BootCamp Driver to a new and empty folder to more easily 'rummage' around in the drivers.
Sorry for not having a more precise answer. (My own i7 iMac is OSX-only).

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). i have a late 2009 imac 21 inch i am having problems with my screen flickering ND GETTING DARK DOES THIS MEAN THAT MY COMPUTER IA FAILING

I have partly the same problem (Sceen blackening) sparodically.
2010 iMAC with I7 CPU and ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB Graphics.
If I lower the brightness to around (3 or sometimes 4 of the on screen squares F2) the issue does not happen at all. I prefer a bright screen.
The issue commenced immediately after instaalling OS X 10.8.2 update one year ago.
The current software is OS X 10.9 (13A603)
The graphics on this computer are always first rate when working properly even at maximum brightness
There are particular days and times when the problem routinely occurs.
Some of my neighbors with iMacs have similar problems.
I live adjacent to the City of London in an area where new building seems to be developing faster than the various utilities and there are known Power Network issues. Professional surge supressors make no difference.
I live in a large property with four independent ring mais. The issue is present on all four rings. I have yet to take the computer elsewhere to possibly eliminate power issues from the problem.
I am reluctant to replace an otherwise fine top of range iMac which otherwise serves me well since the same problems might be present.

Hi. My iMac i7 late 2009 I believe has too much backlight bleeding on the sides. It's got an international warranty until March of 2011. The authorized Apple repair shop says if the find out it the LED LCD needs replacement and that they will get it from Apple's center in Singapore which will arrive in 7 days.
Should I have the LCD replaced and will the LCD from Singapore be backlight bleed free, guaranteed? Or this is really unavoidable? What's your experience on this, was having it replaced better or the same or worse? It is hard to enjoy movies that are letterboxed coz' the sides are bleeding. Thank you in advance. I too am very interested in the answer to this query. Same set up, same fail w/the Thunderbolt cable. The Genius Bar at the Apple Store was no help & recommended I bring my 27" iMac into the store...seriously? Their ultimate answer was that I needed a plain old male-male mini display port cable....that the Thunderbolt cable was the problem. Bloody unlikely, I say. Another guy in the store agreed with me this morning, so swapped out the cable. I was hoping upon hope it was a bad cable, but no such luck—still nothing. Next I tried a mini-display-port-to-DVI adapter—DVI cable—mini-display-port-to-DVI adapter. This also did not work. Is there a chance that the iMac running Snow Leopard and the MacBook running Mountain Lion is the problem???

HELP! My late 2009 iMac is being faulty... APPLE PLEASE HELP!!

I have a question about my iMac. It was working quite fine until recently when the screen glitched up. The screen became all discolored, the shadows/darks became lines and then it just stopped after 2 days.
After this thing happened, the iMac started to freeze on programs and during my work. It even exits applications as if it is glitching in them.
This has never happened to me on my iMac before and I am concerned. The possibility of getting help via warranty has expired RIGHT BEFORE all this started happening... I desperately need help concerning this issue.

Bottom line is you need to take your iMac to your local Apple Store (and reverence these discussion posts. Don't let them tell you they haven't heard about it. The garbage man in China has heard about it by now.) They should either fix it or replace it. I am still waiting to get an iMac until I an convinced the problem is resolved. Don't take a refurb as it may have the same problem.
Side note. With the quality issues on the iMac and the iPhone 4 etc, I am concerned about the overall quality of Apple products these days.

LR5 won't print, it send print job starts to spool then just dissaperes from the print cue? my printer works fine with other software. I can't get any help from Adobe support can anyone help???

Please try the following steps:
Open the file in Adobe Reader
Click on File menu - Print
In the Print Dialog box, select the Printer and then select Advanced button
In the Advanced print setup, Please check 'Print as Image' (See the Screen shot)
Click Ok and then Click Print.

Cannot load ANY vers. of the Flash plug-in! Flash works fine with MS Explorer on same system. Have tried upgrading, downgrading, using Adobes "remove Flash" utility, etc. What's up??

Only able to use Flash plugin with FireFox 3.0. FireFox 3.6 and above (through vers. 8) have the issue. It appears to be an endless install loop from the Adobe "getflash" website download.

Error while running the code using jvm but its working fine with eclipse3.0

I have a problem while building xml document.
I have developed my java files using IBM Eclipse 3.0 and i had no problem while executing the files.
But while i am trying to execute the same code in jdk/bin, xml document is not working..
No error encountered while compiling but while executing when i try to print the xml string it just gives the root element name like [root : null]
Can anyone suggest some solution?Its urgent please....

On ESR 17, the DOCX attachments in my e-mail (I use Optonline) ignores the file extension. (my e-mail works fine with IE). This was fine with Firefox 10.0

I have been using Firefox for a long time. I installed ESR 17 recently. Since then I can't open DOCX files in my e-mail (optonline.net). It comes up as "eFax Messanger files". It obviously does not reconginze the file extension because whe i try to open it using Word it reads it as if it was a text file. If I use IE I have no problem opening the same attachment in my e-mail. I know atleast two other people who have the same problem.

So I followed the bootcamp guide which was made by apple. I opened up the bootcamp assistant and downloaded all of the software needed, and started partitioning the disk. I made about 40GB of space for my Windows side. After the partition completed, my mac restarted and started to read the DVD. However, I only get a black screen, and I can't get the Windows 7 installer to run. I thought I have some problems with my install disk so I used virtual box to see if the dvd works. When I used it on virtual box, the installer started and everything went fine. But when I use this for bootcamp, it did not work. I tried resetting everything, using a different installation disk, redo the partitioning, or boot up the disk by pressing the option key at the startup and selecting the disc. But none of them worked. I don't know why this is not working, since windows installed without any problems on my macbook pro retina. If someone was in the same situation or knows a solution for this, please help me. Again it is the Late 2009 iMac 21.5 inch model.

HT3918 Mixing RAM modules in a late 2009 iMac

I have a late 2009 27" iMac that came with only 2 Gig of RAM. I recently ordered 16 Gig of RAM (4 modules), but they only shipped me 8 Gig (2 modules). I installed the 8 Gig (still leaving me with 2 empty slots), can I also reinstall the two 1 Gig modules that I removed for a total of 10 Gig?
Also, if I order an additional 8 Gig from another company will it cause problems to mix products from different companies?

The Late 2009 iMac came with 4 GB on all the models, so maybe you have an Early 2009 iMac.
Apart from that, if you have a Late 2009, you can use 16 GB of memory, so you can install two 4 GB modules and two 1 GB modules, for a total amount of 10 GB, without any problem. If you have an Early 2009 iMac, 8 GB of memory are the maximum.
To buy memory, I only recommend you OWC and Crucial, that provides compatible memory with Macs. Other brands may work, but with OWC and Crucial you can be sure that memory will work with your computer > http://www.macsales.com
