HELP! It's taken over 2 hours to download 147.00MB of 255.9 MB

It's taken over 2 hours to download 147.00 MB out of 255.9 MB for a SNL episode. This is my first itunes download and may be my last. Any suggestions on what's going on?

DSL 54 Mbps
There is no DSL connection that runs at 54 megabits per second. I would guess that you're referring to your wireless connection which if 802.11g would be 54 megabits per second (at least in theory) to the DSL router. But a typical DSL connection runs about 256 kilobits per second (though some are faster, and again that's theoretical). If your DSL connection is that rated speed, then your reported download time wouldn't be unusual.

You can only suspend service for 3 months at a time (with or without payment) and only twice a year.

  • Why is Mountain Lion taking over an hour to download?

I've purchased the Mountain Lion update, but it's taken over an hour to load only 1 dot.  Is there something I should be doing?

I'm replying to my own question to point out my connection is through TimeWarner Cable; normally everything runs fast.
It's worth noting that because Mountain Lion is 4 gigabytes, it's probably many times larger than anything else you usually download. And how fast something downloads is affected by your service level. When downloading most web pages and movies, most people would not notice the difference between, say, a 3 gigabit per second service and a 20 megabit per second service. I, for example, have a 12 megabit connection and that usually means most files seem about equally fast, but a massive system installer like Mountain Lion usually takes most of an hour to download due to its sheer size. I realize I could cut the time down if I paid more per month for a 20 megabit connection or faster, but since it's only occasional that I download something this big I don't want to pay more.
The speed of cable like Time Warner can be (I hear) variable depending on things like how many people are online in the neighborhood. My 12Mb DSL connection is just about always running at its rated speed, but a lot of areas can't get DSL faster than 3Mb or so. In other words there are a lot of reasons why a download as large as an OS X system installer might be slow.
One important thing that can help: Make sure you have minimized the downloading or uploading of anything else on your computer or any other device in the house. For instance, if your spouse is watching a movie on Netflix, your kid is downloading music, and your own computer is uploading an automatic backup to Carbonite or Backblaze, your download won't be able to use the full bandwidth of your connection.

  • Why does it take over two hours to download a movie on Apply tv

Why does it take over two hours to download a  movie on Apple TV
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
Netflix uses adaptive streaming and can reduce quality right down to produce a stream as low as 0.5 Mbps.

  • HT1577 It takes over an hour to download a movie to apple tv!

According to the estimated download chart, a movie should take 18-24 mins over a 5Mbps internet connection. I've been waiting for over an hour and my apple tv is saying another hour +!
I have changed my settings to only allow standard def videos and yes I've updated the software on the ATV. This is totally REDICULOUS! Apple, clearly there are ways to make this content transfer quicker. What gives?

  • Mountain lion is taking over 10 hours to download

I recently purchased mountain lion from the app store about 5 hours ago and there is still about 8 ours left till it is completed

Mountain Lion is a 4GB download.  If your connection isn't very fast, it will take a long time to download.
On a most budget/economy broadband plans (768Kbps-1.5Mbps), it will take 7-15 hours to download.  Once it's downloaded, it will take another 30-45 minutes to install.

  • Help. iphoto has taken over my computer's HD over 50gig. why?

okay, i have iphoto 8. 20,776 pictures and over 50gig of hard drive. it seems that every time i make a small import, multiple gigs are consumed. i just found out about the "copy photos to iphoto library" tab and unclicked it. however, i fear that iphoto is eating up more than double what it should be due to multiple copies of pictures stowed away who knows where. basically, when i open iphoto and scroll through all the pictures, they look as i want them to be. i don't need copies because i back everything up with time machine anyway. what can i do to just have one of each picture saved to my computer and viewed through iphoto? iphoto diet cant work because i read that it isn't approved for iphoto 8 and could cause problems. is there anything i can do to just keep all the pictures i see inside of my iphoto app and nothing else? i really appreciate any help, this is so frustrating!
    thank you.

It sounds like what you need instead of iPhoto is an image browser like Picassa, JetPhoto Studio, FR-PhotoStudio, QPick or Photonator. They can all be found at VersionTracker.com.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • I am uploading an Excel Workbook (xlsx format) to convert to a pdf and it has taken over an hour and it is still not uploading. I have even tried to restart it and that did not work.

I'm trying to upload an Excel Workbook (in xlsx format) to have it converted to a PDF file and that little circle has been spinning forever. I tried to restart the process but it did the same thing. So I tried to open up each individual worksheet of the workbook and save them individually. I "think" I got that to work, but when I go to the combine tab, I see the four pages that I have selected with spinning "thinking" circles on all of them. Please help. I have a client waiting for this proposal and I don't know what to do!

    Hi Lisa Wozniak,
Are you on a slow Network Connection? I would recommend you to Clear the browser Cache and History and  then try again or try using a different browser on a different Network Connection.
Let me know if it works or not.

    Hey JustJosh911,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
When performing the update on the BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 smartphone, what database is the backup stuck on?  If it is stuck on Smart Card Options or Social Feeds, follow the steps in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB29522
