HELP!!  iTunes causes computer to hang up when shuffling through songs.

When having songs on shuffle play, my entire computer hangs up for a few seconds while iTunes is shuffling through songs. I have tried everything, from completely uninstalling (going into system32 or whatever that is) and reinstalling, to turning off Sound Enhancer (that fixed the song-skip when scrolling thru playlist), to turning off Crossfade (fixes the problem for about 4 songs), but nothing seems to work. I got really mad at it today when it made my computer hang up for 4 minutes when changing songs. My computer is kind of old, but it's not a total dinosaur (P4 2.26, 1.25 Gigs of ram, sufficient free hard disk space, etc). Is there a solution to this problem, or am I just going to have to use some other music playing program?

Try getting rid of that Shwicon2k process, if it's on your PC. It's multimedia card reader software. You can always put it back. It might be causing a conflict.

  • ITunes says computer not authorized. When I try to authorize computer it says it is already authorized but will not play song

iTunes says computer not authorized. When I try to authorize computer it says it is already authorized but will not play song. Note. Library was moved from PC to MAC. I am signed in to Itunes with the Apple ID created on the old computer which is different than the Apple ID used to set up the MAC.

I'm experiencing the same thing under iTunes 11.1.1:
iTunes says the computer is not authorized, prompts me to authorize
I enter my credentials, iTunes says computer is already authorized
When I attempt to play song, iTunes starts at bullet point 1 above over again.
    My attempted fixes:
I tried everything in this support document, to no avail: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389 (Note: I cannot find a SC Info folder on my Mac)
    Deauthorize and then reauthorize computer
Delete song and try to redownload from iTunes store - there's only a button that says 'purchased' with no option to redownload it
Note: I am using only one iTunes account, and I double checked the song info - I'm authorizing the correct account - 12 songs from the same album purchased at the same time play fine. As does the song in question - from the finder. Only iTunes stubbornly refuses to play it.
The most odd thing is that iTunes music is DRM free - the song in question was purchased only a few months ago. Thus there's no need to authorize the computer to play it.
I was hoping that iTunes 11.1.1 would cure it - no dice.

downloading itunes causes computer to freeze because of high computer usage...how do i fix it?

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Radeon HD 6450 causes computer to hang when waking from sleep

Card runs fine from a cold boot, but after resuming from sleep, causes fans to run 100% and computer never resumes, just makes a lot of noise and has a blank screen. It won't respond at all to keyboard or mouse. I've tried the original drivers on MSI site and the latest from the AMD site with the same results. If I install my old video card, my computer works fine. I thought overclocking might be the cause, but even with it disabled, the card still causes my computer to hang when resuming.
Computer is an HP Pavillion a6200 (motherboard ECS Nettle2).
    Any ideas?

As you upgrade the card in a prebuilt system the old card and system were most likely fine-tuned. Possibly there's still any HP software interfering. Try uninstalling the driver and any HP software and retry with AMD drivers installed after reboot.

  • ITunes causing computer and everything running to freeze

When I open iTunes, and start selecting music it freezes my computer, my mouse placement, I mean everything for a couple of seconds
When I change songs, search songs, or do whatever with iTunes it causes this
I've made about 4 threads about this before in the past, and it was never helped
It's extremely annyoying, and I would really want some help

Third-party, meaning not from Apple. For example, I have a plug in installed that allows me to control iTunes playback from my menu bar, without having to go to the application or the mini player. Sometimes if you have a plug-in installed, and you update iTunes but not the plug-in, you can run into some weird issues.
Regarding the speed of your USB, if the computer is relatively new, you should have USB 2.0. I have a 6 year old eMachines computer that has 2.0 on it. When you connect an iPod/hard drive to the computer, do you receive a message stating "this device can perform faster"? If so, you have USB 1.1. You can also check this in your Device Manager (right-click on My Computer and click Manage, select Device Manager in the left, scroll to Universal Serial Bus controllers on the right, click the + to expand it, and look underneath). Usually, you'll see something that says "enhanced" or "2.0" to indicate that this is what you have.
You may also want to look into any documentation or support information for your hard drive to determine its speed. If it's a slower RPM, it might be causing some lag.

  • ITunes causes computer to shut down

Every time I open iTunes my computer shuts down within 60 seconds. Sometimes I can turn it right back on and there isn't much of a problem but often it won't turn back on for atleast 30 minutes. I'm pretty frustrated and I need someone's help.
    Crista

It stops at about 70% and freezes there for 10 mins. or so and then my computer shuts down.
Are you getting any sort of blue screen when the PC shuts down? If so what text and alphanumeric codes is it showing? (eg 0x0000007E?)
If it is showing a specific file name too (for example, ati3duag.dll) let us know what that is called too. Precise spelling please.

  • ITunes Music Library.xml not updating when adding new songs

I have about 150.000 music tracks on my iMac and iTunes didnt have any difficulty with it. When using the songs in DJ program Native Instruments Traktor Pro, this program checked the latest update of the iTunes Music Library.xml file and everything went ok. Whenever I changed a smart playlist or added songs, my Traktor looked at the updated .xml file and Traktor updated it's own files.
SUDDENLY, and I dont know why, this iTunes Music Library.xml file did not update anymore. Whenever I change a song or add a song, the 'update date' in my finder next to the iTunes Music Library.xml file stays the same (1 May 2010) This means my DJ software does not show the updated/added songs...
Plse help... what should I do... I am a professional DJ and I especially bought this iMac for the purpose of DJ'ing. Because of this issue, I can't use it anymore...

  • ITunes Jukebox won't shuffle through songs

Remember in the good ol' days, when you could just click the spacebar at the iTunes library page, and it would shuffle through your songs and play something random for you? And you could click > and it'd shuffle again?
Well, my iTunes has stopped doing that. Unless I've specifically highlighted a song, iTunes won't play anything when I hit the spacebar. I'm authorized to play all my songs, and all my keys are working right, but it just won't shuffle anymore.
    Help?

    Woo, fixed it.
All my selections had become unchecked, and I didn't realize that was the cause

  • Help!!! My iPod Mini keeps scrolling through songs, I can't select

When I choose songs, and select one, the song does not play. The Ipod mini just continues scrolling through song titles. We can pause, but not play. Tried reset, no good. Any ideas?

    Hi Tracey,
Does this only happen with songs that you've purchased from the iTunes Store, or does it happen with imported CDs, too?
If it's only with the iTS songs, then take a look here:
iPod doesn't play purchased content from the iTunes Store
If it also happens with imported music as well, then I would suggest that you try restoring your iPod.
For info on restoring, see this article about it:

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • Help, iTunes refuses to not auto launch when iPhone connected to computer

Hi, anyone else have this obnoxious problem? I unchecked "auto syncing" and all of the possible disabling options in iTunes>Preferences. Another forum I visted mentioned disabling iTunes Helper. I am having a problem launching iTunes Helper because I did a search from the main Windows Start area (lower left of computer screen), and iTunes Helper does show up with a .exe extension showing it's an application. However, when I click on it, it just disappears. It's also not listed in "My Programs" or when I run "msconfig". Is finding iTunes Helper so I can disable it what I need here to keep iTunes from auto launching when the iPhone is connected, or is my solution in doing something else? I'm using iTunes 9.0.25 Any solid help here is much appreciated!

I don't have an iPhone but I imagine it is probably similar to using an iPod. When I connect the iPod to the computer and it shows up in iTunes under devices, click on the device (iPhone), in the device screen that appears there is an options section that has a check-box "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected." Un-check it.

  • Burning more than 1 disc in a sessio in iTunes, causes computer to lock up.

    Hi,
I'm trying this forum looking for help, because I can't seem to find any anywhere else.
Every time I attempt to burn more than one disc, this always happens. I burn one disc from playlist, and attempt to burn a second. It will always hang on "burning - initialization" or something like that.
Then, I cannot quit iTunes. Also, I can not open up any other executable program, such as Firefox, MSN Messenger, etc etc. They all hang and say the usuage is 236 kb.
    Stats:
    Windows XP Pro SP3
    AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4ghz
    1.5gb Ram
    iTunes 7.7.1.11
    I just don't understand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes causing computer to freeze

Whenever I have iTunes running, when I click on it, or choose a song, or open it
    ANYTHING
It will freeze my computer for a couple of seconds, lock my mouse position, whatever I'm doing
It even happens when I play games, it will freeze the game, then continue
When I close iTunes it stops freezing altogether
I would love some help, please

I have pretty much given up hope. I have not been able to use iTunes since I got a new computer on 1/29/08. Apple doesn't seem to care or think that there is a problem. I am in the process of converting my files back to mp3 but am trying to figure out how to salvage the 200 protected aac files that I have. Very disapointing that it has taken this long.

  • ITUNE causes computer to reboot

    Hi,
I've been having this problem after installing the last few revisions of iTUNE. Everything works except that whenever I put a new CD into the DVD Drive it causes the computer to reboot. Sometimes it's on the first insertion of CD but it can be the second or third or fourth... but it never goes pass 4 CD before it reboots... anyone else seeing this problem ? Every other piece of software that uses the DVD drive works fine no matter how many times I insert CD's into it to be read... this ONLY happens with iTUNE.

Since you have completely messed with your computer, you may want to wait for a verry experienced Discussions Member to help you, someone with over 3 bars...
Try being specific on what you have executed on services.msc, your iPod firmware version, and your iTunes firmware version (iPod should be at 1.1.1 for 5G iPod and 6.0.4 for iTunes).
I nominate bnoir, btabz or Masna to answer this a little better after you repost with specific information

  • My ipod says it was et up with another itunes library, it wasn't, and when I add songs to my library when I go back into it they are all gone, please help im going in circles

Please help, I am constanly re importing songs, I have to re sync my ipod to my library each time i plug it in, and I am unable to import songs from my media player, any ideas?

When I plug it in I get the **'s ipod is already synced with another itunes library so do I want to erase & sync message
Even though it is the same music in iTunes, iTunes does not see it as the exact same library because you had to re-add all the songs to it.
You will need to erase and sync and you iPod will simply end up as it is now.
