HELP! iTunes Folders and Applications Download to Desktop

This may be a simple question but when iTunes downloaded on my PC, the folders were saved to the desktop (which clogs up my desktop). Anytime I move these folders to another location, iTunes reinstalls when I open it and the folders reappear on the desktop. How can I move the iTunes folder to another location permanently? Thank you.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded

How can I download a previously downloaded purchase to my iTunes library on my laptop when the listing for the song in my library won't play because it says it cannot locate the file. Yes I have searched my iTunes folders and also done a full windows search. The track plays on my iPad and my iPhones but will not play on my laptop!?
It has an "!" To the left of the song title in my library
My worry is that if I sync my iPad/iPhone then I will lose the track on those also!

If you cannot find the file on your hard drive then once you delete the current broken entry you should be able to redownload from iTunes in the Cloud. This assumes the item in question qualifies. Note that audiobooks, digital booklets, iTunes LPs & Extras, ringtones, selected movies etc. don't.
If prompted don't hide the item. You may find that you need to close and then reopen iTunes before it will appear for download.

  • Why does the latest version of ITunes change all of my web based icons to ITunes programs and all of my desktop icons to the ITunes icons?

when downloading itunes why all my web based programs change to itunes programs and all of the desktop icons change to itune icons?

That's because iTunes is registering itself as the default application to open those kinds of files. I believe you can stop that behavior when you install it. To revert a file type's default handler you need to select it and select "Get Info" from the File menu and change the settings under "Open with:" to your desired application.

Well I don't know what "tried everything possible" means!
top fixes for a new iTunes install/upgrade are
    - turning off security software such as Norton before the install as Apple suggests
    - installing QuickTime standalone, not regular
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
    - setting up Norton to allow iTunes
    - scanning for malware with ewido (Free at www.ewido.net/en/)
    - last but not least, using MSCONFIG to find Windows conflicts

  • When i open itunes it gives me an option for itunes U and podcasts download

    Hello,
I just purchased an Iphone 5.  When I open up Itunes, it gives me a screen that has two tabs at the bottom.   One tab is for Itunes U and another is for Podcasts.  When I click on either tab, it asks me to either download or open.
I downloaded itunes U and it still does it, so I deleted Itunes U.
Bottomline:  I cannot access Itunes on my Iphone 5, although it shows the icon and its there.  It keeps bringing me to the screen I mentioned above.
    Please assist and thank you.
    Chris

I am in the same boat. I tried repeatedly to contact iTunes support, but was told each time that I had contacted the wrong deaprtment and they could not help me. There must be a way to still be able to use the iTunes store without paying for a system update. If not, I hope they will reimburse me the money I have in my acount.

I have purchased about 30 songs from Itunes store and downloaded on my PC.  Had it for a few weeks.  When PING was introduced and was downloaded to my system, all the songs I purchased were obliterated.  How can I retrieve these so I can download these songs to my Iphone that I just recently purchased?  Please advise. Hi, Thank you for the help.  I downloaded the new ITunes 10.1 as instructed.  I found the Old Itunes library folder.  But when I tried to import it to my current Itunes library, it gives an error message:
"The file "iTunes Library 2011-03-22.it" cannot be imported because it does not appear to be a valid exported file."
I don't know how  else I can import the songs from this old library to the current Itunes library.  Please advise.

  • ITunes Plus and Cloud Download Problem

Having some significant problems with iTunes today.  It all started when I decided to pull the trigger on the iTunes plus upgrade of all my music that had been purchased prior to the change to DRM-free music on iTunes.  Given the unusual amount of the charge, my credit company declined it and called me.  I told them it was me trying to make the charge, so they cleared the security freeze.  Shortly thereafter, I got an e-mail from Apple stating there was a problem with my payment method and gave me a link to click on to review my payment information.  I updated the payment information, entering the same credit card information and figured I was good to go.
Now, I seem to have two problems.  One, when I click on the iTunes plus upgrade in the iTunes store, it says my upgrade is processing and I will receive an e-mail once it is ready - seems odd, because the e-mail I got when the credit card was declined said I would need to do the iTunes plus upgrade again.
The other problem I am having, which, in my opinion is way more significant, is that I cannot download any of my previously purchased songs from the cloud in iTunes, on my iPad 2, or on my iPhone 4S.  When I try to downloan something, I get an error stating that the song cannot be downloaded because it was not purchased with my Apple ID.  I have only ever had one Apple ID, so this doesn't make any sense to me at all.
I e-mailed iTunes support and tried to explain this, so maybe they will be able to help, but if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

When you upgrade your songs to Plus in iTunes, it doesn't download them. Instead, they do some behind the scenes processing and tell you that they will send you an email when the music is ready to be downloaded. Among other things, the behind the scenes processing is that they embed your name and some other info into each song so that it can be traced who spread some music around should it start showing up in p2p services and the like.
You get an email later saying your music is ready, and that email contains a link to a WebObjects object on the Apple site. I'm too old to bring up a local sniffing proxy to watch the traffic pass back and forth, but they're most likely expecting that iTunes has registered itself to handle some document or MIME type with the browser, and the response from the WebObjects URL contains that magic type, which the browser is then supposed to hand over to iTunes. iTunes sees that certain something in the response, and then starts downloading your easter egged music and replacing the old music with the new.
Life is good, the customer is happily jamming to 256kbps instead of that lousy 128kbps, and all us law abiding citizens never even think of looking inside the newly downloaded files to find our names buried within them. And, because the web is so ubiquitous, most of us never know why clicking on that email brought up a browser window for a brief period of time before iTunes did our bidding.

  • HT1711 I have over 100 songs I bought back before mid-2009 when Apple dropped this DRM thing. If I want to play those songs on Sonos, the ONLY way to do so is pay Apple another $25/year for iTunes Match and re-download them??

I have a Sonos system in my house and suddenly discovered that many songs I bought off of iTunes years ago are 'grayed out' when I try to play them from my iPhone or do not appear as options at all when I try to play them on Sonos from my overall music library.  It's well over 100 songs I bought back before mid-2009 when Apple dropped this DRM thing. From what I think I am reading, if I want to play those songs on Sonos, the ONLY way to do so is pay Apple another $25/year for iTunes Match (which I don't have any interest in) and then re-download them all in iTunes Plus format??

    Matt,
I agree it was not all communicated real well, but in your case it will work out.  You missed the program where you could have upgraded 100 tracks for 30 cents each (=$30) but now you can do it via Match (=$25).  It works pretty simply, per this document:
Can I upgrade my previously purchased music to iTunes Plus?
Yes. If you subscribe to iTunes Match, you can download your previously purchased music again in the iTunes Plus format. To do so:
You need to delete the original DRM song from your library first. Doing this enables you to download the song again in the iTunes Plus format from iTunes in the Cloud.
Click the Purchased tab in the iTunes Store.
    Click Music.
Locate the artist of the song you want to upgrade.
Click the iCloud Download icon next to the song you want to upgrade.
Just don't forget to put the Plus files on your hard drive -- properly backed up of course -- and to cancel the Match subscription before the second year rolls around!

  • Problems with folders and applications after SL upgrade

I purchased Snow Leopard and installed on my Macbook Pro everything ran smoothly and very impressed with the changes and extra storage on hard drive I checked thoroughly to make sure all was working and could not find a single problem I have Final Cut Studio 3, Photoshop CS3, Aperture, Iwork 09 and more and have had no problems at all using them. So....
Then feeling secure with Snow Leopard I installed on my MacPro (in exactly the same way which I had previously done on by Macbook Pro!) which I use for my work which has all of the above applications and all of my important documents, pictures, movies, music etc.
I have 4TB of hard drive split on a RAID set up 1 half is for storage of my footage and editing the 2nd half is everything else including applications.
Once the installation was complete and I started to hear the music and video for OSX it then started to go through to open up a new account as if I had just purchased a new computer and was setting it up for the first time or when you erase and install (my worst fear!)
I then in a panic searched for all of my valuable files or applications which I could not seem to find in any of the usual places where they should have been. Then through spotlight managed to find a file I recognised, here is what I have found and I will try to explain.
What used to be the 1st half of the RAID set up which contained all of the system settings, Library, Music and Applications and for general running the system appears to think this is now not used as the main hard drive but it appears to have all of my applications but I am unable to open any of them as if they are not even there.
The 2nd half which was used only for media storage and editing now has all of its existing files plus a system folder and a whole new user file with an application folder, document, system setting etc.
I have tried to just copy across all of the applications to the new working applications folder but they still don't open
I don't know how to resolve this problem and this is what I need an answer to:
Is there anyway to save these applications by dragging some kind of system preference or Library setting across to the NEW main Hard drive?
Do I need to delete all of the applications and reload them all? - VERY TIME CONSUMING!
Being Mac is there anything easy that would reverse whats happened.
Any help/ advise greatly appreciated. Still in a panic so if I don't make sense please ask me to clarify.

I have owned a HP Pavilion 330n (AMD Athlon Chip, 512 MB RAM, Win XP; Belkin USB wireless internet connection) for about 6 years now, Its an older computer, but by in large does what have needed it to do. However, software updates and the addition of Norton 360 earlier this year ground it to a halt, so I decided to upgrade to 2GB of RAM (and blow out all of the dust that had accumulated inside the tower) last night.  The RAM registered without a problem and the computer was much more responsive; except for getting the beloved 'blue screen of death' within ten minutes of reboot (IRQ_LESS_THAN_NULL problem).
After two hours of these lockups and limited troubleshooting, I decided the software stability warranted using the HP software recovery program, so after using the 'normal' (not destructive) recovery program, I'm now getting the "NTLDR is compressed problem; press CTRL+ALT+DEL to REBOOT" -AND- I don't have an external recovery disk that gets me to an to get MSDOS prompt to try to decompress NTLDR.
Given the system's age, I cannot imagine that I'm the first person to encounter this problem. Any assistance that can be provide is greatly appreciated.
Your hard disk might have gone south (become nonfunctional). Is there a hard disk option in your BIOS?

  • TS3694 error -39 leads to error -50 when downloading from itunes store and the download will not resume

I download a TV Show from itunes and usually as soon as it begins, it tells me that my TV Show is ready to watch and I can choose to "Play TV Show Now" or "Watch Later." I choose Play TV Show Now. Then after about 20 seconds of watching, and error message comes up with the error code -39. The download stopped and when I resume, it will download for 5 more seconds but then I get another error message with the code -50. I click the Resume button and it won't resume no matter how many times I click it. So I have to go to Music, iTunes, iTunes Media, Downloads, and delete the folder with the name of the TV Show that wouldn't work. Then i open iTunes again and Check for Downloads and it starts over downloading.
The errors only occur when I start playing the TV Show while its downloading. Its fine if I let it download.
How do I fix the errors?

That's not the issue (waiting for the download to complete).  The issue is that the download never ever completes.  The Computer says "Hey, you can watch your show," but then just a few moments have downloaded, and you get a "-50" error.
The published solution for the -50 error is to navigate to the wack place that itunes has decided to store your download (if you can find it) and delete the partial file and try again.
I have "tried again" 5 times now.  It's not working.
