Help!!! iTunes has stopped working...

The message I get in Windows is... "A problem cause dthe program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
That has been the repeated message each time I try and start it, since I installed ACE Mega CoDecS pack.
So far, I've uninstalled ACE then uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled iTunes - repeating that process several times.. Stil the same message.
I am running Vista - I formerly had absolutely no problem with iTunes.
That is... until I had to do some video editing using a Sony HDD video camera, that needed additional Codecs downloaded to be enable me edit in Adobe Premier Pro! (and that was far from satisfactory outcome too).
All assistance muchos appreciated! I need to get iTunes back up...

  • Please HELP, "iTunes has stopped working" error after connecting iPod video

People please help me out!  I have a Razer Blade gaming laptop with Windows 8 64bit.
I have an iPhone 5, iPad 2 and an iPod video (80GB).  I had some weeks from not connecting the iPod to my computer, but this morning that I did so I can upload some new music to it, iTunes just crash, I get the "iTunes has stopped working" error message when I connect the iPod video.  I do not have this problem with either the iPhone 5 or the iPad 2, when I connect these, iTunes works fine, once I connect the iPod, then all goes down
Procedures that I already tried and that were unsuccessful to solve the problem:
    Uninstall Quicktime
    Uninstall iTunes and reinstall
    Reset the iPod (several times)
    Delete TEMP files on computer
    Restart the computer (several times)
Use a different cable and a different USB port
The iPod is working fine, if I plug it to my car stereo or if I use it with headphones it works great, no problems nor errors.  My computer also identify the iPod as a hard disk, no error messages from Windows, it is just the freakin' iTunes that freezes everytime that I plug the iPod
PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I've searched forums on this particular issue but with no luck.
    Thanks very much!

It is only when I attempt to add a song to my iPod once plugged in that I receive the error "Itunes has stopped working" and forces me to exit the program, without the song being successfully transferred.
Do you have the "Convert to 128 kbps AAC" preference enabled for syncing to the iPod, laur?
If so, it's quite plausible that you've got the iTunes 10.1.0.54 bug and we need to get you updated to 10.0.1.56 as per the following document:

  • SUPPORT TECH HELP - "iTunes has stopped working"

Trying to find out how to get help on this site is EXTREMELY frustrating. I want to just submit and email but apparently you can't do that...or they make it impossible for you to find an easy way to.
I'm hoping this will get to a SUPPORT TECHNICIAN and not just the random "community" of customers.....
My iTunes stops working ever since I've tried to connect it with the iCloud thing. I don't want all my stuff floating around the interwebs so I've never used that cloud before, HOWEVER, in order for my DisneyMoviesAnywhere to connect to my iTunes account so that i can watch the movies I've purchased I have to use that cloud. But of course, everything crashes now. Apparently the iCloud is needed to get my purchased movies from Disney to iTunes.
SO, I've included the "problem details" when iTunes crashes. (FYI,  I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to find this thread again to see if a support technician has responded. Hopefully they can access my email address from my account and respond to me there.)

Will iTunes open in safe mode? Hold down CTRL+SHIFT as, or immediately after, you click the icon that starts iTunes and keep holding until you see this prompt.
    Click Continue.
Assuming iTunes has opened, enable the menu bar, if necessary, with CTRL+B. Go to Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. Press OK, close iTunes, wait until it has had a chance to fully close then reopen.
    Will iTunes open normally now?
"iTunes in the cloud" is one aspect of Apple's cloud services and gives you access to your qualifying past purchases. Any item in the store can be removed by the rights holders without prior notice at any time, so it is possible that Disney removed the movies you are trying to redownload.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

  • I just received a refurbished replacement iphone and now while syncing I get "itunes has stopped working"...help???

I just received a refurbished iphone the the insurance provided by a major electronics retailer.  Since i have tried to sync it to iTunes I have received "iTunes has stopped working" error.  It says it will come back with possible solutions, but never does a thing.  I have already removed and again installed iTunes, QuickTime, etc. to no success.  Not sure what my next step should be.

This helped overcome the crash problem, but (as reported before), I still have to start iTunes in Safe Mode in order to watch any videos. This has been the case since 10.5.
The regular mode behavior has changed a bit - instead of the progress bar moving to the end of the video, showing no video but playing the audio for about three seconds, it now leaves the progress bar where it is ... but the rest of the behavior hasn't changed.
Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit on an HP dv8t quad-core laptop w/ 8 GB RAM, running nVidia GeForce 230M with 1 GB video RAM.
Thanks for your prompt response to the original problem posted above. At least now I'm back where I started from before I upgraded to 10.7. Not optimal, but I've finally gotten used to doing a Ctrl-Shift-click to run iTunes.

Apple don't provide free telephone support for iTunes.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • "iTunes has stopped working" - i need help! urgently :(

Hi, I am having a major problem with my iTunes program. Until about a week ago iTunes was working fine on my Vista Home Premium. One morning this week I got up and tried to turn it on and suddenly a box would pop up after about 10-20 secs after connecting my ipod touch to the computer saying "iTunes has stopped Working" Then another box would pop up saying that when a solution becomes available, it will notify me or something to that effect. Since then I have tried everything I possible could think of like reinstalling itunes and changing my msconfig settings. I have been on countless forums as well looking for someone who has my exact same problem and the solutions presented their are not working for my situation. If anyone could help me get iTunes back working on my system, that would be great. Thanks

I have exactly the same problem, please, if anyone can help, solution is well received.
    Thanks.

I am getting "itunes has stopped working"

This Apple article will help you isolate the problem a little -> iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues
Does iTunes start in Safe Mode?
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interfence with plug-ins or scrpits not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down the Shift and Control keys while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
After clicking Continue, determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
It would also be helpful if you can provide the Error Report from the Windows Action Center Reliabilty History. To view this go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Action Center > View Reliability History under Maintenance. Double click the iTunes critical event and copy it into your reply.
If you run into problems, see b noirs walkthrough in this thread -> Windows Apple Mobile Device

  • "iTunes has stopped working" grrr, any help?

Well this happend last night. i had just gotten a bunch of songs and i was putting them on itunes, everything was fine. i always need to create an ACC version of everything as my music is saved on to an external hard drive (if thats not plugged in iTunes cant find the music, therefor cant play my music.) and then a pop up messege from windows said "iTunes has stopped working" and it didnt give me any other choice but to close the program. i tried a few more times before looseing my paticence and gave up and turned of the laptop. then today i found an album i wanted to put on, i put in the disk worked fine i could listen to the music clicked import CD then came up with the annoying messege again
now i am really annoyed and i just want to get my itunes working, without loosing all my music. any help? thank you

i always need to create an ACC version of everything as my music is saved on to an external hard drive (if thats not plugged in iTunes cant find the music, therefor cant play my music.) and then a pop up messege from windows said "iTunes has stopped working" and it didnt give me any other choice but to close the program.
First we need to check your precise version number, Katy. In iTunes, go "Help > About iTunes", and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
If it says *iTunes 10.1.0.54,* we need to update you to iTunes 10.1.0.56. The 10.1.0.56 version may not show up for you in Apple Software update, so you'll probably need to get the 10.1.0.56 installer from the Apple Website, as per the following document:

  • Itunes "has stopped working" windows solution? HELP ME

this has beeng going on for about a week, one day i went to itunes and all of all sudden said itunes has stopped working. I have uninstalled itunes and quicktime, and reinstalled. I also searched the forums and did everything what everyone suggests. I located all the files removed them, did a virus check, spyware, adware. Installed itunes and then quick time separtely but still nothing. I just dont know what else to do. Do i have to whipe my whole hard drive and start from scratch. I dont care about my songs because they arent from itunes but just imported cds i just feel like somewhere there is a corrupt itunes file or what not. please someone help me, i dont like having my ipod work with windows media player?
    HELP HELP

Ok, the person above had the right idea:
Basically you need to remove ALL traces of iTunes and quicktime before reinstalling. Since you have Vista, its a little bit of a pain in the butt.
    1) Go to your control panel and open "Program and Files" or whatever it is
    2) Uninstall iTunes but do not reboot the computer yet.
    3) Uninstall Quicktime, and any other apple products (Software Update and Media Devices)
    4) Reboot.
    5) Open "My Computer" and then your main drive (typically C:), scroll down to "Program Files." Verify iTunes and Quicktime folders do not exist. If they still exist, delete them.
    6) Go back to C: and highlight the "Windows" folder
    7) Go to the folder "System 32", and delete the Quicktime information in there.
    8) Next, go to "Windows/User" and highlight each individual user's AppDate folder. Delete any "Apple" folders (it should only be Quicktime and iTunes information).
    9) Finally, go to your user "Music" and move all your music to another location. Delete the iTunes cache files, including artwork. Reboot. You do not "have" to reboot, but why not.
    10) Reinstall iTunes and Quicktime.
Please note: If you have just installed Ace Mega Codecs, that may be causing a conflict. It may just be a coincidence that I installed this (twice) and iTunes went down (twice), but who knows.
I hope that fixed your problems!
