Help! - itunes - itunesminiplayer .resources error message

please help me!
I've been using itunes or a few years now and have never had any issues. All of a sudden I have started to get this error message when trying to load the program:
"Itunesminiplayer .resourse is not a valid shortcut"
Click OK:
"Installation terminated."
it looks like it is trying to install it from new but it has never been removed from my pc. All of this seems to have happened since I have downloaded the newest versions of ituntes.
I cannot repair/uninstall it either - I get the same message. I have tried to download it directly from apple.com and that doesn't work either. No files have been moved by me.
I don't know what to do next! Please help!
Any suggestions??

No need to apologise, hbos.
With the "not a valid short file name" messages, we should try the following technique first.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
[Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301]
Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove". Quit out of CleanUp.
Next, we'll remove any leftover iTunes program files on the PC.
Go "Start > Computer". Open your C Drive (or whatever drive you have your program files installed on). Open "Program files". Right-click on the iTunes folder and select "Delete". Empty your Recycle Bin.
Now restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I am trying to remove the older version of iTunes but an error message appears saying that it cannot find the path to 'iTunes64.msi", and I tried the search option to find it on my computer but no such luck. Please help me

I am trying to remove the older version of iTunes but an error message appears saying that it cannot find the path to 'iTunes64.msi", and I tried the search option to find it on my computer but no such luck. Please help me

Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

  • Help getting"use itunes to restore" error message

I connected my ipod to my friends computer to copy a program i had on their to his computer and i then i take my ipod out and get the "connect to your computer use itunes to restore: error message. I know i can just restore it im not going to do that becasue it would be the third time doing so. I get a error with the ipod software but when the ipod updater program comes on the only option is restoring. So i am wondering is there a way to reupdate the software? if not is there any other solutions not involving reformatting the whole ipod.
    Thanks in advance

    hey kurtis,
seems like you and i were having the exact same problem. i took mine to an apple service centre today. the guy said if he can restore it in store it'll cost me $44- for a service fee if not he'll send away for a replacement iPod for free as it is under warranty.
got 10 mins down the road and recieved a SMS from the apple account saying it couldnt be restored and therefore had faulty hardware or the like and so i should be recieving the new one friday.
i recommend if you're still under warrenty (you can check by entering the seriel # on the back of your iPod somewhere on this site) that you follow my lead, even if they fix it in store $44 is better than $450.
    cheers!

  • ITunes displays -48 error message when syncing iPod Nano on Windows XP

My girlfriend's mom's iPod Nano ran out of charge while jogging so she decided to charge it on her daughter's iHome. The next day she went to use her iPod but it was totally empty of all music and files. When she tried to sync it to iTunes, she received an eror message stating, "An unknown error has occurred (-48)" from iTunes and a Windows message stating that some iPod folder/file was corrupted.
If anyone receives such a message, I was able to correct it by:
-Plugging in your iPod to your PC
    -Ignore the error messages
    -Go to My Computer
-Find your iPod's drive letter (ie. G:)
-Right-click on it and select Properties
-Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now
You should be able to sync your iPod as before. I do not claim to be an expert so be warned that it may not work for you. Good luck!
