Help - Itunes/Quicktime downlaods but won't launch to install

Hi peeps,
Need some help here; iTunes stopped launching one day so deleted it, and Quicktime, and tried to reinstall. Problem is now the installer won't launch for either. Tried direct download and saving the file to download to desktop. Always the same, goes to load and just stops, no error message, just nothing. I have PC with Windows Vista.  Help before PC goes over balcony!
Thanks,

hiya!
just popping by to drop off a link to a QT standalone installer:
Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
(the link to a true standalone QT on the QT Player download page can be a bit difficult to find. the most obvious download link on there leads to an itunes/QT installer bundle.)

    Someone PLZ help...
I have downloaded the correct iTunes edition. But when I try to open it, nothing happens. I have deleted my Temp files, cookies, etc..tried using another user profile, downloaded the file once more, downloaded QuickTime(facing same issue with it)...I am getting very discouraged. I just bought an iPod Touch and cannot even use it. Someone PLZ help...

Simply select the download and run it. It is typically a good idea to disable anti-virus during the install.

  • Itunes 7.0.2 won't launch just has hourglass for a few seconds...

I am running a Dell Optiplex w/ Win XP Pro, Charter High Speed Security Suite (F-Secure) antivirus firewall antispyware stuff. Trying to upgrade itunes. Downloaded and installed without Security suite and firewalls etc. Installed fine. QuickTime opens and works except when I try to click on a movie trailer and it tries to open iTunes Store and it won't load the store. ITunes 7.0.2 won't launch. The hourglass shows for a few seconds and then nothing...no small pieces of anything popping up and going away really quick. Nothing. I don't have any other antivirus products on my system. I do have eTrust Pestpatrol antispyware but it has been disabled and was not active when downloading the product nor when installing the upgrade. All previous versions of iTunes worked fine. This upgrade to 7.0.2 will not launch. Any ideas?
    Thank you.
    Best Regards,
    Marlene

I downloaded the program without any firewall, antivirus software or antispyware or antimalware running. I installed the same way. I don't have an active firewall through Win XP, my Charter Security Suite's firewall has always been instructed to allow all of the itunes, ituneshelper and Quicktime info through. I never had this problem with the other iTunes...only this upgrade. I have done virus, spyware, and malware scans (found a few with a deep scan, quarintined and deleted, restarted computer, still no change). My computer is up to date. I could update my Internet Explorer I suppose from 6.0.2. but that is something that shouldn't be stopping iTunes from launching. I have a P 4 with 2.4 ghz 256 ram of which I know I need to upgrade but still should not have a contributing factor in the launch. If it is, tell me and I will immediately upgrade. I don't get this one... ???? Forgot to add, I also tried another user account which had the same results.

A 2003 MS office sounds like a Windows version.  A 2004 MS Office that was Mac compatible can not be run natively on a new MBA since the Lions do not run PPC applications.  You will have to get a newer edition of MS Office that is compatible with your new MBA.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
Actually, you cannot download Snow Leopard. You downloaded a Snow Leopard updater.

  • Itunes upgraded but won't launch with Windows 7

    Hi
I upgraded to the most recent version of iTunes 2 days ago (5 April 2010) and now iTunes simply won't launch at all. I have tried some of the remedies in the posts and have even tried a complete reinstall but iTunes still will ot launch.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance

I had the same problem: after updating to iTunes 9.1 (no errors) I just couldn't launch it. In Task Manager I saw that the iTunes process was running but it never really opened.
After nights of frustration of scanning the net for solutions I finally managed to get iTunes to run again.
    1) Firstly I deleted the new iTunes 9.1 and all programmes associated with it according to the directions given here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
It also mentions you should remove the Bonjour service but I could never make that work (no privileges or something like that).
    2) After that I reinstalled a previous version of iTunes. In this case 9.0.3.15. I got the download here: http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
    3) Then I disabled the Bonjour service with the MSCONFIG method mentioned at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
There they state that you should check which service clashes with Windows by trying to disable one service at a time. I found out pretty quickly that it was just the Bonjour service that caused the problems. All other services could run normally.
After the reboot iTunes finally started up again and I was able to restore my library.
Only thing is that I can not use the Remote App on my iPod Touch. That apparently required the use of Bonjour.
I hope this method helps for some of you!
    Cheers,
    Bart

  • Itunes 7.0.1 won't launch and freezes my pc

Didn't want to hijack some other topic as I don't seem to have the exact same problems as people are describing.
    My symptoms
    - When launching Itunes.exe first time I get the license page, as soon as I click agree nothing happens, and my pc won't launch any applications. . The desktop is responding to every click though. It won't even restart/shutdown, only thing working is a hard restart on the pc case.
The itunes.exe instance stays on the process list, and I'm unable to close it.
    - When launching after the first time I get the exact same, just without the license page (so I figure that info was saved).
    - Quicktime launches perfectly
I'm running Avast antivir (haven't seen that mentioned anywhere, to be the cause of trouble)
Not running any firewall app, apart from win xp (sp2) firewall.
Now I've tried all the stuff I've seen suggested on these boards I believe, I'll just summarize what I've done so far:
    - Uninstalled/reinstalled (multiple times)
    - Cleaned as suggested
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\
    and
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
    - Ran ccleaner to remove a blank entry in startup config
    and still no dice.
My startup table looks like this (a bit crowded)

just to add, Itunes is uninstalled atm, that's why it's not on the list.
As you can see I've got a Nvidia gfx card, and I've updated the driver to 91.47 without any luck.
I saw you asked in another thread about K-Lite codec pack and I've installed version 2.71 full.
So, where do I go from here? everything worked perfectly with itunes 6 but since 7 came out I haven't been able to update my ipod :/

Tried uninstalling K-lite codec pack, ran the ccleaner once again, installed itunes with avg disabled, all in vain.
I would appreciate if anyone had any ideas as to what to do next.

  • Itunes 6.0.3 won't launch

I just upgraded my itunes to 6.0.3 and now my itunes won't even open. it launches for a second and then quits. i'm not getting a message or anything saying there was an error. how can i fix this so i can get into my itunes?

I have the same problem after upgrading to iTunes 6.0.3. It launches, then crashes half way in; with no explanation. The crash report says EXC BAD ACC; and exceeds range, etc. I have 12.5 GB available on my internal HD. I have a suspicion that the default prefs set something that 10.2.8 does not have, but 10.3.X does, thus causing the crash, but this is just a guess. Even so, I wouldn't know how to change it, anyway. All help gratefully appreciated. It is terrible being left out of the iTunes Music Store like this!

  • After upgrading to Itunes 7.2, it won't launch without crashing

Itunes was working fine on my pc. When I opened it, it prompted me to install an updated version of Itunes and Quicktimes. I followed the prompts and installed it. After it installed, I launched Itunes and it crashed with "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I sent the report to Microsoft, without any results.
In my application event log, I see 2 events:
Faulting application itunes.exe, version 7.2.0.34, faulting module itunes.exe, version 7.2.0.34, fault address 0x00a33ac0.
    Fault bucket 438926550.
I then went to Apple's support website and followed these steps:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
    I followed the links below:

  • ITunes imports file, but won't play

I upgraded to 7.5, but now files (AIFF, WAVE, MP3) that I've downloaded from the Internet won't play (both free and purchased ones). When I double-click on the file, iTunes will open and draw it into the library, but won't play it. I see that other people have had similar problems, but haven't found an answer....Anyone had any luck solving this yet?

I purchased one from SoundDogs.com. I double-checked their FAQ, and re-downloaded their file. It works now. I'll have to check the others...
