HELP? Itunes won't import songs without official titles!?!

This is so strange, but hopefully someone out there will have a suggestion. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
I have a pc that I recently uploaded a lot of music to from two different ipods (using ephpod). All of the songs are 'there', i.e. they are present in the same folder as the one itunes is already using to import from, but after spending hours examining the problem, it seems to be differentially only importing songs that have full information associated with them. I.e. both the songs that it is importing and not-importing are both Mpeg layer 3 audio files (mp3), they are also both full quality files (i.e. they are not links of 2kb, but 3 mb or so), the only difference is that the ones it IS actually importing have 'full details' listed below them (i.e. artist and album title in grey below the song title) all of the other songs merely have the track number (i.e. 01, 02, etc). THe problem is not that it is songs uploaded from two different ipods, as none of the songs from one of the ipods and 3/4 of those from the other won't play (also they won't play in windows media player or even open in the finder...?)
I'm pretty sure this is the problem, as after going through the tons of artists different folders the only ones it will import are those with the previously mentioned 'full data' and not those that just have the track numbers- so maybe the question is whether there is a way to disarm itunes 'song title' discriminatory policy, or perhaps a program that will enable me to add artist info to the songs, or .......a better suggestion?

Hey I got it working. Here's what I did that finally worked.
1. Set Mp3tag v2.46a to remove all tags when pressing the "remove tag" button.
2. Loaded all MP3's in Mp3tag. (they all had various fields filled and ID3 versions).
3. Pressed "Remove tags" button. This cleared all tags.
4. Pressed the Undo button. This replaced all tags.
After doing this, all the MP3's loaded into iTunes.
And I got to keep my meticulous tags.
So I guess whatever bug in the ID3 tags was cleared out when Mp3tag cleared/uncleared the tags.
I wish we could figure out exactly what the problem is though.
I spent a few hours cleared certain fields, checking ID3 version numbers against each other, etc. and I still don't know what iTunes is having problem with.
Thanks for the tip, ed!

  • Please help:  iTunes won't import whole songs!

I have put my old hard drive (which contained all of my music) into my new computer, and added all the tracks into iTunes on the new computer. Unfortunately, some of the tracks cut off prematurely, even though the track shows the correct time (it just goes right to the next track instead of running completely through). Short of manually importing each CD back into iTunes, I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone please help? Thanks!

Hi thanks. I have try'd installing an older version off a disk that i've got but it get a message telling me it is not possible to install an older version. Will i have to remove the current one 1st? an if so how do i do it like i said i'm a bit off a novice? do i just drag it in to the trash?

  • How to import first song on burned cd if iTunes won't import it

Often I find that iTunes won't import the first track of a burned cd. It'll just keep cycling and eventually move to the next track. I use Exact Audio Copy to import the first song and then import it into iTunes. EAC has worked EVERY time and I have a lot of burns, of which maybe 1/4 have this problem.
You can get Exact Audio Copy here:
    http://www.exactaudiocopy.org/
You will need the LAME encoder to create mp3s:
    http://www-users.york.ac.uk/~raa110/audacity/lame.html
Just create a LAME folder somewhere and unzip contents to it, then point EAC to lame.exe

With using any version of iTunes, whenever I import songs into my library using the "add to library" function, iTunes adds those songs in songs' alphabetical order. This is pretty annoying since it does not preserve the logical track number or even the album sort order (for example when adding 2 albums stored in a unique folder). Anyone has any ideas ? Been stumped for a while....!!!

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

  • New Ipod Nano on Itunes but won't import songs

I just plugged my son's brand new Ipod Nano into Itunes and it appeared on the left side as David's Ipod but when I went to import songs from my library it won't allow me to do it. It has a circle with a line through it anytime I attempt to drag a song on to it. I have two other Ipods (nano and mini) and never had this happen. I installed the software that came with it before this happened. It also says something like Ipod can't be upgraded because playlists no longer exist...When I first plugged it in the Itunes said that the library was too large for the nano and that it could select the songs for me. When I said yes it started downloading all these songs from the library (songs my son didn't want). I managed to stop it by having everything deleted off the nano but now I can't import anything. Help!!! Thanks

I actually have the windows XP and not ME if that makes a difference

  • ITunes won't import a song

I had some songs stored in a folder in the My Music folder. When I added the folder to iTunes using the (rather obvious) "Add Folder to iTunes" command under the File menu it added all the songs in the folder except for one. I've tried over and over to get iTunes to import this song into my library but it won't work, and the last thing I'm going to do is use Windows Media Player to play one song because iTunes won't. The song is an MP3 file and its bit rate is 256KBps. I don't know if those last two bits will help but it can't hurt to include them.

Is there any possibility that this song is copy-protected? Did you import it yourself from a CD or did you buy it from an online source? If DRM is on the song--you'll have to burn it to an audio CD and import it that way.

  • How do I get my music from Media center to my iphone. Itunes won't import the MC music library, and MC won't recognize and synch to the iphone so I can't load playlists from MC to my iphone. Itunes help doesn't work.

How do I get my music from Media Center to my iphone 4s. Itunes 10.5 won't import the MC music library, and MC won't recognize and synch to the iphone plugged into the USB port so I can't load playlists from MC to my iphone. Itunes help doesn't work.

Hello and welcome to the support community
As you know, your iPhone 5 is not compatible with our iBook G4. To get your music in iTunes from your iBook to your iPhone you would need to migrate the music files to a newer intel based Mac. A Mac which has Mac OS X 10.6 or higher installed. Then sync your iPhone 5.

  • ITunes won't import/play certain songs for no apparent reason

I have certain songs that will not play or import into iTunes for no apparent reason. I've been able to play them in QuickTime, Zune and Windows Media Player but for some reason iTunes won't even acknowledge them. When I click on the MP3 file iTunes will load up but not do anything. I've tried everything and can't figure out the issue.
I had been able to upload the songs to iTunes in the past as well with no issues until one day iTunes just decided they didn't exist anymore.
I'm really at wits end right now because i'd like to upload these songs to my iPod but can't do that now. What could the problem be?

It's probably a problem with the ID tags associated with the files. You can run this free program to fix the tags and see if that makes the tracks usable:

  • Itunes won't import mp3's from my iAudio u2

    Hello,
I have an iBook G4 with iTunes 6. I just purchased the iAudio u2 and successfully used it to record a 3 hour file of music that I "lined-in" from my CD player. My next step was going to be to copy the mp3 file to my computer, but I can't get iTunes to import it.
The funny thing is, iTunes ALMOST imports the file. In fact, the progress bar travels successfully through the copying phase, but just before the progress bar reaches the end of the "analyzing song volume" phase, the system freezes up briefly, and when it finally clears (in about 10 seconds) there is no sign of the MP3 having been copied to iTunes (i.e., it is not in my music library).
Any ideas how I can transfer my iAudio mp3's to my laptop and iTunes -- or any ideas why the file won't import into iTunes? I've recorded 4 mp3 files using the iAudio so far and each of them has the same problem when I try to import it into iTunes: i.e., the process crashes just before the song volume is completely analyzed.
    Thanks for any help.

I will try it, but page 116 of the iPhone user manual specifically says it will play MP3 (up to 320 Kbps), in fact here is the entire list:
The following audio file formats are supported by iPhone. These include formats
    for audiobooks and podcasting:
    AAC (M4A, M4B, M4P, up to 320 Kbps)
Apple Lossless (a high-quality compressed format)
    MP3 (up to 320 Kbps)
    MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR)
    WAV
    AA (audible.com spoken word, formats 2, 3, and 4)
AAX (audible.com spoken word, AudibleEnhanced format)
    AIFF
The following video file formats are supported by iPhone:
    H.264 (Baseline Profile Level 3.0)
    MPEG-4 (Simple Profile)

  • My iTunes won't authorize songs i can't re Donwnload

i recently had the hard drive on my iMac die. lost EVERYTHING. now I'm trying to put all the music on my iPad back onto this new hard drive. one problem, every single piece of data that i didn't download from iTunes won't go into it. it keeps asking me to "authorize my account' when I've already de authorized all devices and re did it all. its just music and stuff that i downloaded or have hard copies of that i don't anymore. so i need a way to get all these songs OFF of the iPad and into my iTunes or at least into the computer. can anyone help me? i just downloaded the newest versions of iTunes and the driver for my iPad, I'm hoping that changes something, though i doubt it will. I'm sure it says in fine print in the user agreement that they don't have to let unlicensed music or files into their program. if thats the case, I'm never buying another apple device as long as i live.

  • Import songs without gap

How do I import songs from a CD to my iPod without any gaps between tracks.

    Nomad Drifter wrote:
Tried this, but all it does is join the tracks to make it a single track. However, the gap between songs still remains.
How can the gap remain if you are importing all the tracks on a CD as one singe track?
What CD are you trying to import into iTunes as gapless? iTunes automatically imports CDs that are meant to be gapless (Sgt Pepper, Dark Side Of The Moon etc), but some CDs (ones you have burnt yourself for instance) may not.
So, is the CD a store bought CD?

  • M4p's (iTunes) won't import into Logic

The music supervisor for a film I'm working on suggested that I download some specific tracks from iTunes and lay them up against picture (as temp only) to give me an idea of the the mood he wants for various scenes. But wouldn't ya know, iTunes files are .m4p's and won't import into Logic. Or will they? Am I missing something?
(And BTW, using the "Convert Selection to WAV" in iTunes doesn't work for m4p files -- an error message comes up saying "_____ cannot be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats.")

    hello...
    I've had success importing 2 ways;
right click/ctrl-click song in iTunes:convert to mP3; import
the best solution has been to create an audio track and import directly into the track. The 'import' on the main menu does not seem to import what the audio track will import. I ran into this same issue for a while until I tried the second option and had no problem.
Also...burn the track onto an audio cd then import the audio track from the cd (no longer an mp4a)

  • Please help - iTunes won't start anymore: unknown error -69

    Hello out there,
please can anybody help me: all of a sudden my iTunes won't start any more - it only shows a message stating an unknown error -69 and then quits.
I did not change anything on my system before that, so I just don't know what could trigger that...
I am using iTunes 7.0.2 on Windows XP SP2, both German versions.
Before posting this question I searched the archives and tried the following, all to no avail:
    1. disabled "safe mode" in QuickTime audio options -> problem remains
    2. set speakers to "stereo headphones" in Windows sound options -> problem remains
    3. deinstalled iTunes, downloaded the installation file again and reinstalled it -> problem remains
    4. deinstalled iTunes and QuickTime, downloaded QuickTime stand-alone version, installed this and afterwards iTunes again -> problem remains
    5. deinstalled iTunes and QuickTime again, deleted all iTunes and QuickTime data folders, reinstalled everything again -> problem remains
    6. ran a CHKDSK an the drive iTunes is on -> no problems found
It still won't start, always giving this unknown error -69.
Please, does anybody know what to do?
Any hints and help are much appreciated!
    Thanks a lot
    and best regards
