Help? iTunes won't update iPod

When I plug in my iPod, iTunes recognizes the iPod and lists it on the column on the left as "Todd's iPod" - but it won't update the songs I have in iTunes onto the iPod. Is there something I can do to manually to make it update?

iTunes 10.2.x requires Mac OS X 10.5.x or later. If you're still running 10.4.11 like you have listed in your profile then you need to upgrade before you can install the newer iTunes.
If you have 10.5.x or later then just uninstall your current version and download the new one from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

I have an ipod touch. I have been really good about keeping my itunes up to date. The last version I updated to was early this year. It keeps telling me I need to update but that it failed to update after download and that I need to manually install.
I plugged my ipod in and it asked me to update the ipod software so I did. Then it tells me that the ipod won't work unless I have the 10.0.1. But when I go to itunes and download itunes 10.0.1 it downloads but won't install and tells me I have an invalid drive F:/. I don't even have a drive F. I can't use my ipod now, I turn it on and I have the picture of the ipod being plugged into itunes. But itunes won't update. Nothing online or in any thread I have found has given me a solution. I am very frustrated. Is there anything I can do? Or do I need to uninstall itunes and lose all my music and apps?

I just put a flash drive into a USB port and then it started the install and when it asked where I wanted to put it I changed it from drive F to C.

iTunes works normally until i want to sync it to my iPod. Then it says the usual "updating iPod" message then freezes. Just iTunes freezes not anything else i'm doing.

I had this same problem when trying to rebuild my iPhoto and iTunes libraries after a hard drive failure. I was able to track the problem down to a few images, that for whatever the reason, would not sync over to the iPod. They looked fine in iPhoto and didn't appear to be corrupted, so I have no idea what was wrong with them. I discovered that this was the case because I was able to sync photos by manually selecting specific photo albums, but I was unable to sync my entire photo library.
Here's the process I used to figure out what images were at fault. For each film roll in my iPhoto library, I did the following:
1. Created a temporary photo album with all of the images from that roll.
2. Told iTunes to only sync specific photo albums, not the entire library.
3. Selected the new temp film roll in iTunes for syncing.
4. If the sync worked, I knew that film roll was not to blame.
5. If I got the error, I knew that I had identified the correct roll. Then I did a one-by-one removal of images from the roll until the sync worked.
While this was a very tedious process, it did finally allow me to get my entire photo library to sync over. And, I was able to re-import the faulty images and get those to sync as well. But deleting them first and getting a fresh copy was definitely what was needed here.

Itunes won't update ipod with videos.

Everytime i go to upload videos, my Ipod itself won't have them on there, although they'll be on my computer/itunes. Also, my ipod will delete every single video on there within a few days. How can i solve this?

Itunes won't update IPOD after running Updater

I should have known to leave things alone!
Updated Itunes and ran updater. Have a 15gb IPOD m9460ll.
Now everytime I connect the IPOD it runs the wizard asking me to name the ipod and then it looks like it runs and the songs look like they are there, but they are not on the ipod. Update says complete.
I've uninstalled and re-installed itunes, reset the ipod.
Anybody have any ideas?

Figured it out!
The updater had assigned a drive letter that was already in use as a network drive. I went into disk management and re-assigned the IPOD to a different drive letter.
Works now. Hey Apple!, check for an available drive letter before you assign it.

My internet connection is working fine, I'm getting errors when trying to update my Black 5G 60 GB iPod which is formatted for Windows. I'm getting errors 1417 and I also got -50. It sounds like you actually have a 2G iPod Touch, which can only be updated to iOS 4.2.1 and no later. See here to help you verify what generation your iPod Touch is.

HELP itunes won't update ALL tracks

I imported tracks onto itunes & they were skipping so i re-imported & replaced the existing files. now the tracks in itunes are perfect, except i can not get them to upload onto my ipod as no matter what preferences i select it will only ever upload newly added tracks, not the replaced tracks. Probably (and I emphasize "Probably") because your iPod sees the "replaced" tracks as already existing and, therefore, doesn't update them.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeksare worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunes, QuickTime and Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

It sounds like you've already done the things that would fix most iPhones.
You can try restoring your iPhone.
If that doesn't do it, try contacting Apple through Express Lane. They may be able to gather some aditional logs and pinpoint the exact problem.

Ipod not recognized by iTunes, won't update

My 4thGen ipod suddenly isn't being recognized by itunes. I've trying resetting, no help. I get an "ipod needs formatted" window, so when I try to run the ipod updater, the ipod still isn't recognized. But in MyComputer, it is recognized as "e drive".
I recently bought a new laptop and had everything moved from the old one and the ipod was synching perfectly, but this just started happening. I think the only thing that changed since my last synching was I installed Norton Antivirus.

A connection problem, it seems. Have you tried to disable Norton AntiVirus just to see if it helps?
I also suggest you charge your iPod fully (using an iPod AC charger) before connecting it to your laptop.

ITunes won't recognize iPod after trying to update to iOS 5?

Today I tried updating to iOS 5, and I had to update to iTunes 10.5, so while the update was downloading, I left my room, when I came back, iTunes said it was finished and I then decided to update my iPod to iOS 5.I had then decided to leave my room and when I came back, iTunes wasn't running anymore and my iPod had the "USB to iTunes" screen, so I tried plug in my iPod to my computer and since I'm on Windows XP, it then gave me the error noise and said that this driver didn't exsist, so I tried updating my drivers and it ended up not working, so then I tried re-installing iTunes 10.5 and then I got another message saying "Bonjour Services failed to install" then it said "Bonjour Services failed to start" then later in the installation it said "Apple Mobile Support failed to Start"
So now my iPod is stuck on that screen and my iTunes won't work.
*I'm running Windows XP 32-bit
*I have a iPod Touch 4th Gen 32gb
*I have not tried to jailbreak or do anything except use iTunes to import music

Itunes Won't Detect Ipod Updates

So Itunes easily detects my Ipod touch and I can manipulate/view my songs, hard drive, etc ad nauseum BUT when I hit check for updates it says my Ipod is already up to date. This is definitely not right since there is now iOS 4 and I'm currently at 2.2.1.
anyone ever have this happen? it used to auto detect updates all the time now i cant seem to get it.

Try closing out of iTunes and rebooting your Mac. Sometimes it helps in situations like these.
It might be a good idea to re-install iTunes using these instructions to see if that doesn't help.

What model iPod do you have exactly? You may want to double check this article once more to be sure you truly have a 2G Model. I'm not denying that what you are saying is true, I'm just trying to help and it wouldn't hurt to double check.
