HELP ive lost a lot of downloaded music!!

I have just recenetly ugraded my Ipod Touch to 2.1 for the apps.
Since upgrading, the music I have downloaded in the past month or so has vanished!!
Does this mean I have lost it or can I retrieve it from somewhere....HELP HELP please!!

If you don't have it copied onto your computer and you don't see it on your iPod, than likely it is gone.
Apples policy is that music purchased can only be downloaded once so it is extremlt important to have it backed up. You can login to your iTunes store account and find the purchases that you are missing and click on the report a concern link. You can then tell Apple that you lost the music and they may allow you to download it again or they may not.

    Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
    I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
    Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
    It says ;
    Com.apple.launchd 1 0x100600e70.anonymous.unmount 301 PID still valid
    Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
    Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
    Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13
    Oh and on Launchd1 : System : stray anonymous job at shut down : PID 301 PPID13 PGID 13 unmount...
    Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
    Continuing...
    And stops ...
    Hope this means something to you ... Thanks again for your help so far :-)

  • PLS HELP ive lost all my data during the upgrade!

    Wednesday night i upgraded to ios5 the upgrade seemed to take a long time and hung right at the end of the instalation.  A pop up screen appeared saying that i could complete instalation at a later data so i decided to do that.  I did back up before the instalation took place.
    Now however i cant retrieve any data, everytime i restore it will try for a few minutes then i get this 'itunes could not restore the iphone beacuse the backup was corrupt or not commapible with the iphone that is being restored' then the iphone is wiped and ive lost everything, 4 years of names, photos, contacts, texts everything gone.  I then restored the backup directory from a previous backup on time machine, about two days earlier and one from the previous month.  I have tried to restore the iphone again with these older backup and its doing the same thing error massage as above.
    Can someone pls help me i even went to apple yesterday and they couldnt help they were like 'well you'll just have to start the phone from new'.  Thats easier said than done.  I have multiple backups on time machine i cant believe they are all corrupt, or is this to do with iTunes?

  • HT4914 Why has iTunes lost a lot of my music after cancelling iTunes Match?

    Hi
    After cancelling my iTunes Match subscription I find a whole lot of my music has disapearred!
    The songs have gone from the iTunes music folder and also from my original music folder where I had ripped all my music.
    Why is this and is there any way to get my songs back?
    Or do I have to rip all my CDs again?
    Thanks

  • Downloaded firefox 4.o. Will not work now. I have Mac OS 10.4.11. I am very disappointed in firefox. I need help, I lost a lot of important stuff.

    Firefox up dated and restarted. The firefox screen said that it recommended upgrading to 4.0, so I did. 4.0 replaced the older version and now does not work.

    You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    When you install it, it should use your existing bookmarks and other user data.
    Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • Help ive lost my music collection

    Can anyone tell me how to put the content of my I pod classic onto a laptop,it used to be on a desktop which we no longer have,didnt think to back it up as i thought the i pod was a storage device,i have i tunes on the laptop and it lets me keep the purchased items but not anything from my cd collection,please help

    Not directly but you can sync to an iTunes equipped computer and then sync to the iPad...unless you have single-use tunes which cannot be shared.

  • I lost a lot of my music from years ago

    Years ago when I got my first apple product, an ipod touch I bought lots of music, even whole albums. recently, I have lost hundreds of dollars worth of music on my account and cant access the content anymore, despite some of it still showing up in my devices but it is inaccessible to me. I know apple or iTunes wont do anything about my problem but if there is a solution that I can do then I would like to know.

    If you still have some of it on your devices then you  should be able to copy them back to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
    Or you might (depending upon your country and if you've changed countries since buying them and if they are still in the store) be able to redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes.

  • Lost all of my downloaded music!

    I recently got a new computer I was able to copy most of my songs back into itunes through copypod but I lost alot of the music I downloaded from itunes. Can I download it again??

    Not without paying for them again. Apple says it's our responsibility to keep a backup of our song files.

    Any help, comments or suggestions will be most welcome.

    Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
    Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
    The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
    There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
    Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
