Help k9n neo

hi, i built a computer and once everything is plugged in and turned on, there is no signal to the moniter so i cant even access bios. Help much appreciated.
Current System Spec:
 AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor
MSI K9N Neo-F Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 550 MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply 115/230 V TUV, UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC
I have tried stripping it down to just the just the essential parts to see if i could get to the bios but it didn't work. I then tried to replace the graphics card with my friends to see if my gfx was dead and even with his gfx, there was still no signal. Finally I tried to remove everything and put it back together with no avail.

Thursday 3rd August
Now have a computer that recognises the 2gb Ebuyer.co.uk memory that i originally purchased. Managed to use the 256mb from PC World to boot the machine and install windows to upgrade the bios. My mum now has a fully working PC even with the original 350w PSU that was supplied with the case.
If anyone is still having problems with this motherboard then pop down to your nearest PC World and purchase a cheap 256mb 533 ddr2 memory chip and use that it works. Make sure it is from the component store

  • Black screen after BIOS update on K9N Neo V2, help pls?

    Hi guys!
    I have K9N Neo V2 motherboard and Athlon X2 5400, I've decided to upgrade and bought Phenom x4 9750.
So I've updated the bios to 3.0O from https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=124305.0 using the instruction, it went fine, I've been using it for a week but found out some bugs (windows blue screen and applications and OS hangups), then I got to restore OS from acronis true image - failed. And then I decided to check if the new bios supports my old athlon or not, I've changed the CPU and started - failed, dark screen no bios, I plugged back Phenom and now it also is not working :((. Have no idea why and what to do now..
Would really appreciate any suggestions and help.
    Thank you in advance

  • K9N Neo-F Freeze and restart problem. Help needed!

    Hi there,
I recently bought a Mainboard (K9N Neo-F S/N: 601-7260-010K0605023133) that seems to shutdown every now and then. No blue screen... it just freezes for a while and then shuts down. My CPU temperature is very low, I've used a lot of coolingpaste and I have tried every possible way of mounting memorys... 1,2,4... and in different slots. I've run Memtest also. The BIOS-version is the newest according to the Liveupdate-function. The power supply should be enough but I have tested disconnecting everything else then one harddrive and the mobo... doesn't work.
Sometimes it happens with three hours between the occations and sometimes five minutes. Not related to anything special that is done on the computer.
Is this a problem that is common...? Related to hardware or bios...? I would be glad for any advice you could give.
Thanks in advance. Really need help... this drives me mad...
    /Christian

I started Orthos and then left the computer alone. Went and watched a film, when I got back after 1 hour and 38 minutes or something like that the computer freezed. I will try leaving it on all night without touching a thing... kind of strange that it happens right when I sit down and move the mouse.
Thanks a lot for trying to help... it's appreciated.

  • K9N Neo V3 and SATA DVD-RW, need help

    Hi all!
I've got a K9N Neo V3 mainboard and a Pioneer DVR-215BK DVD-RW (which is a Serial ATA drive). The problem is, when attempting to read any disc (CD or DVD), the drive recognizes it OK - but then hangs the very moment data transfer begins, then after 3-4 attempts (i.e. read-hang-read-hang etc) starts reading, but transfer mode is set to PIO by the OS (I have Windows XP SP2 installed). I can change it back to UDMA 4, but when I load a disc the whole story repeats :( . Reading speed in this mode is not too impressive, of course.
I have upgraded mainboard's BIOS and the writer's firmware to the latest versions; tried NVidia IDE SW drivers; checked the RAM for errors; connected the writer to different SATA ports with different cables; changed RAID mode in BIOS setup - and, of course, surfed the web searching for the solution - and now I'm here... Seems like few people had quite the same problem, but I've tried what they were proposing (even disabling error control for the corresponding IDE channel in Windows registry) - with no result at all.
Here's what I have inside my PC case:
MB and DVD-RW - you already know; RAM: KingMax 2*1024 Mb 800 MHz; HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (SATA); Graphics: NVidia 8800 GS; Sound: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio; PSU: Delta 500W.
Note: SATA HDD works fine in UDMA 6 mode, without any errors. Any other piece of hardware I have also operates fine...
Hope anyone can tell me what causes this issue and what I can do about it. Is it my DVD-RW or motherboard that's faulty, or some compatibility issue, or I'm just stupid ? Thanks in advance.

Quote from: Nestemat on 28-March-08, 05:11:31
The burner is not the issue , the issue is the motherboard or  some simple bios settings or the bios itself .I have a K9n Neo v2 mcp 520 and it has the same problem dvd-rw under pio , i think the problem is caused by the drivers , because they just won't install
Well, that's at least something! Means I'm not alone.
Yesterday I cleaned up whatever was remaining that could have caused the issue: removed everything but vital components; uninstalled all programs that might use additional drivers (like Nero, WinCinema and such); had the RAM checked again by MemTest86+ 2.01. Well, nothing changed, of course.
Tomorrow I'm taking the system to the dealer I've bought it from (that's gonna be a challenge, we got a lot of snow here   ) - we'll see what the service personnel has to tell me.
I will let you know as soon as the problem is solved.
    Nestemat
In your case - what's the brand and model of your DVD-RW? Have you tried downloading the latest drivers - or maybe your installation CD is bad or a buggy installer? Try installing the drivers manually.

  • Plz help: Don't know if I have a K9N Neo V2 or V3.. want to upgrade proc

    Hello,
    I actually have a two-part question:
First, according to my POST I'm running the a7369nms bios (v2.4), and thereby I have determined that I'm running either a K9N Neo V2 or V3. Unfortunately, I don't have the box and instructions anymore and I can't seem to remember which it is. Is there any way I can determine which one I have?
Second, I would like to upgrade my processor. I'm currently running an X2 4200+, and would like to upgrade if possible to a Phenom X3 720 BE. Is this possible?
Thanks so much for your time.
    Best,
    Nick

Quote from: Henry on 19-January-10, 06:31:36
What you call a Phenom x3 720 is really a Phenom II X3 720 (AM3) so no way in the world would it work. You're lucky the listed Phenoms (AM2+) will work as it is.
I have a sneaky feeling that Fredrik is just funning with you.
Yes, I failed to make that distinction. Though I knew they were different sockets, I thought they were theoretically compatible if the bios supported the cpu and the thermal power design rating was sufficient.  Hmm... so which would you learned gentlemen/women agree that the fastest cpu I could bolt on to my board would be? A 95W phenom x3 8750, x4 9750 (if I can find a 95W one), or an athlon x2 6000+?
Thanks again for all your advices.

It recorded correctly, the MoBo starts, enters in the Bios with all the options of the Ultra, but when I leave and it normally has to read the HD or floppy, he stops. Don´t freeze, just tries to make the verification of some component of the Ultra that the Neo-F does not have. 4. AUD_VCC

Guide me pls where should i put this cords because i only got 7 cords.
    TNX IN ADVANCE

Your case connectors are not complient with the HD Audio connectivity standard.  In order to make this work, you'll need to disable the Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection Function in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
Connecting your case's ports should be rather either:
    First of all:
    GND ---> 2. AUD_GND
    Then the microphone:
    MIC-IN
    MIC-BIAS
There are only two possible ways to connect these plugs to:
    1. AUD_MIC
    3. AUD_MIC_BIAS
Try both ways. One of them is going to work.  [Remember: In order to make this work, you'll need to disable the Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection Function in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.]
    And then the other thing:
    SPKOUT R ---> 5. AUD_FPOUT_R
    RETURN R ---> 6. AUD_RET_R
Same thing for the left channel.  Just this time use:
    9. AUD_FPOUT_L
    10. AUD_RET_L

So no AM2+ for you if you want a 125watt processor on it and a nvidia chipset. is there any reason why MSI cant fix 125watt support?
If you dont care about a future quadcores upgrade you can buy a old AM2 board, but dont forgot to look at the cpu support list, because the most AM2 boards doesnt support 125watt either.  ???

That is not true, 125W support usually have high end mainboards.
"I cant even find a board with Nvidia chipset, amd2+ and support a 125 watt processor (or not tested OK yet) or some boards without a cpu support list yet. "
    Here are they:
    K9N2 SLI Platinum/K9N2 Zilent ==> http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1443&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=171
    K9N2 Diamond ==> http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1438&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=171
AM2+ Nvidia chipset boards, not only support 125W, but support 140W CPU too.

  • MSI K9N NEO-F V3 Cannot install Windows 7

I am trying to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on my wife's desktop computer.
    The system is:
MSI K9N NEO-F V3 Motherboard with BIOS American Megatrends Inc. V2.4
    AMD 64 X2 3.00 Gigahertz
    2 Gigs of RAM
    Windows XP Pro 32 bit
    500 gigs SATA HDD
120 gig and 40 gig IDE HDDs
As it has to be a clean install, I start the computer with the Windows 7 in the DVD drive. I get loading files, Starting Widows and then the background picture (picture with vapour trails, a dove and some grass) for the "Select Language etc." screen. Then nothing, no matter how long I leave it.
Got onto Microsoft and spent 1.5 hours trying to get it to work. We even went into the BIOS, made sure the DVD drive was the first boot device. When I clicked F10 to save and exit I did not get the "Press any key to boot from the CD/DVD", it went back to the beginning of booting.
The disk is OK, it is a Microsoft disk and worked fine when I tested it in my PC.
    Can anyone help, please?

Disconnect the two PATA hard drives.
Make sure the hard drive you're installing Windows on is formatted before running the setup.

Don't know if it is that, but BIOS supports the 5000 BE from v. 2.3. Perhaps you can get help in making sure what BIOS version you got.
It does sound like Bas says processor related. Cause all required power cables are in place, right?
Why the rush in RMA-ing? You must be pretty good at computers to be able to say definitely when it is RMA time, and what to RMA... Or think you are pretty good.
I do computer support for a living but I will be the first to tell you that I don't know everything.  I just don't know what else it could be and I guess I'm anxious to get my new rig up and running!!  BF2 awaits me . . .     It's comforting to hear someone with the same issue so that I don't feel like I'm going crazy here.

  • Front panel audio jack is not working on K9N Neo V2

My front panel audio jack is not working on K9N Neo V2. I check the JAUD1 cable and it appears to be connected to the front panel audio jack. My soundcard driver cannot detect any gadgets when I plug it in the front panel. My audio drivers and BIOS are up to date.  Is there any known solution to this? My computer is only a few months old and I have not tried the front audio jack until recently. I'm on Vista home premium btw.
Also, I've got another problem, my processor is AMD 64x2 4400+ overclocked to 2.63Ghz. I've been using that clock value ever since I built this computer and stress tested the processor and found that it would not cause any problems like hanging or overheating. However, I recently decided the need for AMD's Cool & Quiet technology and enabled it. It caused BSODs every few days or per week that didn't happen before. I tried it with the default clock value and it still causes BSODs. Can someone help me?

Thanks. Its ironic that disabling it actually enables it.
It has to day with the front panel audio wiring of your case.  How many wires are there that can be connected to the board's pin header?

    Sound quality isn't very good
Can you be more descriptive?  Is the quality better if you plug the headphone into one of the jack at the back panel?  (Also, make sure you tell the Realtek HD Audio Manager, that a headphone is connected (and not regular speakers).
