HELP!!!!  Keeps restarting

Ok my imac desktop 24inch last years model(white) has been working flawlessly.....i was on it all day today.....i go upstairs for a couple hours and then back downstairs and my computer wont wake up.....finally it wakes up and it was on the screensaver but stalled out with the little color wheel....nothing was happening so i restarted my mac......after it started back up it went to the nice light blue screen but then seconds later it faded from light blue to dark blue from top to the bottom of the screen.....then appeared a transparent box with a power button symbol beind it and in three laguages it told me that i needed to restart the system by using the restart button or holding the power button....i held down the little button on the back left side until it restarted.....well everytime i restart it does this same exact scenario......i unplugged time machine backup drive just incase......so i have all my backups i need in there which is a huge plus......but another problem is that there is a disc still in the drive on the mac....so i cant even load the leopard install disc.....i figured maybe i could just load in that disc when it powers on and it might read it and i could fresh install and then do a back up with time machine.....what should i do???? Thanks so much!

To Eject the CD, Turn computer ON while pressing and holding down the mouse button.
To address your main issue, have your tried resetting the PRAM?
*Resetting PRAM and NVRAM*
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.
Let the computer boot and see if it solves the issue.

  • Brand new iPod Touch keeps restarting Help!

PLEASE HELP ME! My iPod keeps restarting, or turning off, I'm not sure which, but when it does that then it shows the Apple Logo, it will go to the main screen for maybe 1 second, but then it does this cycle over again. It stared lagging at first. It has been doing this for a while now about (almost an hour). It is also unresponsive, I and tried holding down the home and power buttons, but it didn't work. I plugged it in to iTunes and it said it couldn't connect to it and gave me the code 0xE8000024. I have no idea what to do. Oh and I havn't dropped it or anything, I have taken very good care of it. I JUST got it today. I am restoring it right now but as its plugged in it keeps rstarting and showing the Apple logo. Please help!

    See:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting
    Then
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • ML keeps restarting after installation! HELP!

I have installed ML and after the installation, it keeps restarting itself. Sometimes it will make it to the desktop and other times will just restart when at grey screen. I have rebooted to disk utility using CMD+R and verified and repaired permission and it still did not help the problem. Now I have booted in safe mode, and it says my software is 10.8 (ML). The update does not show up in my app store, what is the next step to reinstalling ML or any other ideas

So under the four options it gives me, pick the reinstall OS X option? Also, could you explain the Archive part in more detail as I have never had to do anything like this before. Thanks

  • Please help! Leopard keeps restarting!

After recommendation, I post my question also here:
    Hello everyone,
I was installing some gcc libraries and unfortunately something went wrong with the permissions and most of my applications were not working - they crashed immediately after start. When I was reading the crash reports I have found that one library had wrong permission - libstdc++.6.dylib should have been linked to libstdc++.6.0.4.dylib. I have changed it manually because Disk Utility did not help, but then I was not able to start any application. After restart the system does not boot but it keeps restarting after a while (apple logo appears and after ca. 30 sec. the computer restarts)
Is there any way how to repair it without loosing the data? Or the disk should be erased and system reinstaled?
Thank you very much for your answers!

I don't disagree with any of the advice given here but there are several extra things that can be done to improve ones chances in future:
1 - Install AppleJack - it may or may not have resolved this issue but it is a very useful utility especially as it can repair the active volume even when it will not boot normally - be warned that it takes as long as Disk Utility to repair permissions so consider running this option overnight.
2 - Split your disk into several partitions (volumes) and install an OS on each. Backup all data before you try this - I have little experiences of adding partitions to a working disk but I think it can be done.
    My G4 has three volumes:
A - my normal working Leopard
B - a basic clean relatively unused Leopard
C - Tiger combined with a full OS 9.2.2 which I can use as Classic or boot into directly.
This gives me four bootable OSs. The options may be reduced for later hardware but the principle remains the same. If all else fails I can hold the option key down at boot to select whichever OS I want. I can also swap disks or use DVDs etc but these things take longer.
I use Carbon Copy Cloner from time to time to put complete replicas of my volumes onto one of my 750 GB SATA disks. These are useful because they can be easily opened to find a lost or damaged item or returned to my main disk as a bootable volume. However, now that all the bugs have been removed, most people will find Time Machine much simpler to use.
As previously indicated, it is surprising how much can be done in Single User Mode to overcome booting difficulties. Experience or luck help considerably. My Unix experience is very limited but I was lucky to find a way to boot my Xserve when a problem arose during a short term lack of an alternative bootable volume. Help
I upgrated my computer to OS X Mountain Lion last night and since then my computer keeps restarting over and over again.  The only way I can use it is by being in Safe Mode.  Can  you please tell me what I need to do so my computer works perfectly again.

If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select the most recent panic log under the heading System Diagnostic Reports on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
View ▹ Show Log List   from the menu bar. Post the entire contents of the panic report — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post shutdownStall, spin, or hang reports.

  • My computer keeps restarting itself for the last two hours and i don't know what to do. Please help me

I need help, my MacBook Pro keeps restarting itself for the last two hours saying there's a problem. I can't get past the grey screen without it restarting and i don't know what to do...please help me

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select ReinstallLion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from
the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
                    three times faster than wireless.

My iPhone 4s. Keeps coming up sim invalid, I have to keep restarting my phone but doesn't help, it's only 5 days old and I'm fed up now with it now! Any solutions please?

There is obviously something not right... But to determine what the issue is, it needs to be looked at...
And the Apple Store would probably be the best place...
    Just my opinion...

    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

    Hotlatinkitty,
How did you delete your songs off your iPod while it was charging? What did you do?
In iTunes, click "File" and then click "Add file to library". A new window will open, make sure the top says "iTunes Music" folder. Are your songs there?

After I update my ipod touch 4g from ios 5.1 to 6.1.5 its always keeping restart until it die. can anyone help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I cannot help you entirely, but I can help you isolate the cause of the problem by examining the Dump file Windows XP creates after the BSOD. First off, download this debugging tool for Windows XP 32bit.
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtoo...nstallx86.mspx?Install the tool and launch WinDBG. You need to have some Symbol Files, you can automatically download these through the Tool by choosing Open / Symbol File Path. In the main window you can type, do not use browse, just click with the mouse on the white area. Then typeSRV*C:\Program Files\Windows Debugging Tool\*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
The C:\Program Files path may depend on where you installed the Debugging tool so that path is not accurate. Now choose Open again and click on Open Crash Dump. The location should be similar to C:\Windows\Minidump\*.* in that folder you should find the dump files. Choose the latest dump file (they are dated). If you get an option to save the workspace, don't bother. Let it load until it finish, this might take a while depending on the size of the dump file.
Now in the field type !analyze -V (or you can click on the link in the window)
    http://www.alltomxp.se/screenshots/crashdebug.png
You should get something similar as in the link image above. Here you can see what's causing the problem so that you can a more closely idea what's happening. It might not help you much, but it's something. You can also google the files if you don't know what it is and hopefully you can find some solution.
    Hope this helps!
