HELP! leopard and imovie with camera.

Ok, my new canon FS100 won't import movies into imovie08, even though the apple page says it should work.
I have posted here cos under imovie not getting much help and i have established its not an imovie problem.
basically, the camera loads up the thumbnails, i choose the clip to import and then i get an error message.
i then went down to the apple store and put the camera on a machine with the same leopard version as mine and same imovie08 version and it imported no problem.
i came back deleted off imovie08, reinstalled and updated it, tried again with no luck.
so its leopard thats causing the problem and not imovie. without wanting to do a archive and install, i was hoping someone here might have a suggestion i could try or if they have had a similar problem with another hard drive or SD camcorder.

Did you trash the receipts before re-installing? If not then you didn't actually re-install.
They are in HD/Library/Receipts and you remove any pkg file there with iMovie in the name and then trash the app and re-install.

If you are going to upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard, then I recommend doing a clean install. You can backup your current system to an external drive which I strongly recommend, but that has nothing to do with your RAM (memory.) The error refers to the amount of RAM installed in your computer which I'm guessing is only 512 MBs while Snow Leopard requires a minimum of 1 GB. And, I would recommend installing the maximum your model supports which should be at least 2 GBs. This all assumes your iMac is an Intel model.
Open System Profiler in the Utilities folder and report what you see displayed for the Model Identifier.
BTW, please post using mixed case. All upper case is the equivalent of shouting, and it's harder to read than mixed case.

We took 3 video cassette 8mm that were recorded in the early 90's to a place that burned the videos onto 3 DVDs. When inserted to our Mac, the DVD player comes on to play the DVD. Opened Quicktime, but can find no way to import. Went to File>Open File>Sony_DVD_Recorder_Volume. Clicked on Sony_DVD-Recorder_Volume and it shows a file named VIDEO_TS. Clicked on that and 6 files showed VIDEO_TS.BUP, VTS_01-0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS-01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB. Where is DVDxDV?

As to iPhoto
Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

I have a mac book pro retina, i had iPhoto and iMovie app with the OS while purchase. the iPhoto and iMovie updates were using my old apple-id and i wasnt able to update my app due to that, so i deleted those apps and wanted to reinstall that. so my new apple-id would be picked up.
but i didnt realize these were paid apps. ouch. so is there a way i can restore these apps ?

Have you tried signing in with your old Apple ID? All software obtained at the app store is tied to the Apple ID used to obtain it forever. If you start with a new Apple ID, then you will need to purchase it again.

I would greatly appreciate any help. I just bought my imac for iphoto and imovie. It is a bit more difficult that expected.
I made two slideshows in iphoto. I saved them as .mov files by exporting them from iphoto. When I open imovie it will not allow me to import the movies?? I am so confused. Any help would be amazing.

A slideshow created in iPhoto employs a "Tween" track to render transitions. Unfortunately, this track is not discarded when the slideshow is is finished and save. iMovie '08 appears to no know what to do with this track and so it ignores the video when you attempt to import it. If you have QT Pro, simply delete the extraneous track. If you don't have QT Pro, use MPEG Streamclip (free) to save the audio and video content to an MP4 file container. This process appears the strip the extraneous track during the "Save As..." File menu process.

Problem with Snow Leopard and imovie

After spending hours putting together a movie in imovie, I cannot share it to media browser nor any of the other options listed under the "share" button. All the titles and transitions play in the project window, but will not play full screen. Any suggestions?

A "clean install", by definition, wipes everything already on your hard disc - including the previous version of QuickTime.
Snow Leopard includes a new version of QuickTime called QuickTime X.
You may find that putting back the previous QuickTime 7 lets everything run properly (QT 7 and QT X can both live happily side-by-side on the same Mac under Snow Leopard).
During an upgrade installation, instead of a clean install, SL may offer to leave QuickTime 7 on your Mac instead of wiping it; on a clean install it'll be wiped clean away.
QT 7 for Leopard is still available here, but whether it neatly installs after you've applied Snow Leopard, I don't know; you'd have to test that yourself.

Help Installing Leopard and issues with partition maps.

Hi, i've been trying to install leopard on my MacPro G5 to no avail, as my super-drive had failed, i've tried pulling out the HDD and mounting it via an external enclosure and connecting the mounted HDD to my Intel based mac and installing Leopard from a disc running from my Intel based mac to the mounted HDD from my MacPro.
The problem i've encountered is with the partition maps, OSX installer does not allow me to install Leopard onto the external HDD with Apple Partition Map and insists i re-partition it as GUID which i can't do so as it'll mean i wouldn't be able to boot it from my MacPro G5, thus i'm wondering if anyone have an idea on how to get Leopard installed in such circumstances.

First, let's get the terms straight.
There is a Mac Pro, which is an Intel processor, using EFI and utilizing the GUID partition map.
There is a G5, which is a PPC processor, using Open Firmware and the APM scheme.
There is no Mac Pro G5
A Mac Pro can use an APM mapped drive to boot from, but cannot install an OS to it.
In order to install an OS to a drive while installed in or connected to a Mac Pro, the drive must be formatted using the GUID scheme.
A G5 must use an APM formatted drive to boot.
To install Leopard on a G5, one must use a retail version of Leopard (not a gray disc that shipped with an Intel Mac), boot to the install disc, format the drive and install.

Reinstalled leopard and problems with iphone

Iv plugged my iphone into my computer, the same one its always been synced with, when signed into the same account - only after reinstalling snow leopard from scratch....
I dont know what to press etc to get everything back to normal and allow me to sync my iphone again without losing stuff. Apps for example, i dont want to lose what apps i have on there, and the order they are in?

Did you include your iTunes library with your computer's backup before reinstalling Snow Leopard via an Erase & Install - the iTunes named folder located in the Music folder?
If so and you've placed the iTunes folder from you backup in the Music folder with iTunes quit when doing so, iTunes content should not be erased from your iPhone with the first sync.
If you didn't include your iTunes library with your computer's backup, why not?

Set AOI and Binning with Camera Link

Hello together,
I trying to set the AOI and the Binning.
Please see the attached VIs. If I choose Binning 2x or 4x, the following error occured:
Error -1074397150 occurred at IMAQ Snap.vi
Possible reason(s):
NI-IMAQ: A timeout error occurred while waiting for the specified event. If waiting for an image, verify that all video data is acquired within the timeout period. If waiting for a signal, verify that the signal assertion occurs within the timeout period.
Does anybody has a idea, how I can set the AOI and the Binning?

The attribute Binning is in the MAX, because I edited the camera file (*.icd] with the NI Camera File generator (see MAX_Binning.png). If I chosse the correct imagesize (MAX - tab Acquisition Parameters) and set the Binning (MAX - Camera Attributes), it works. I can switch between 0x, 2x, 4x Binning without an error message. But unfortunately I can do it with the LabVIEW VI (see attached VI). I will try to describe the process with the attached LV program:
- run program
- default resolution 6576x4384, 0xBinning: all OK
- set resolution 3288x2192, 2xbinning: all OK
- set resolution 1644x1096, 4xbinning: all OK
- set resolution 3288x2192, 2xbinning: the resolution (1644x1096) remains
or
- set resolution 6576x4384, 0xbinning: the resolution (1644x1096) remains
Why the resolution doesn't go back?
How can I get the frames per second?
" Please run the VI and see if an error occur when you try to set Binning in your camera."
It doesn't appear a error message.
I hope we can find a solution.

Help! Having trouble with camera app after update to iOS 5.1.1

I'm having a big problem with my Itouch. I've never jailbroken it or any of that crap. Here's the deal. I just updated to 5.1.1 and I tried to record a video but whenever I press the record button it starts recording but can't press it again to make stop. So, press the menu button then I tried going back to the camera app then I hit record now this time it just freezes!!!!!

New and need help - drag and drop with dynamic text

So I'm doing this project and as an animator I'm not familiar with the whole action script side of flash
Okay so far I've managed to create the whole Drag and Drop feature and it works well, the thing is I want to make it so when you drag in object in the correct spot and new text appears, and I need like six different object with the dynamic text. but I have no idea how to integrated it in my code or where I should start!
So i based myself on some tutorial so theres some code in there that had dynamic text, but not exactly what i wanted
Your help would be much appreciated!

HELP Filtering and IReport with Dynamic Actions

Hi all,
Now that I've upgraded to 4.0, I'm trying to make more use of Dynamic Actions. I followed the example at: http://anthonyrayner.blogspot.com/2010/07/report-filtering-with-apex-40-dynamic.html and it works fine. The thing is that it is based on a select list which kind of takes away from the effect. What I want is to have an interactive report which is filtered by the value in a text box. I want to use a dynamic action that when a user types a search string, the IR is filtered down based on each character typed. I used the "Change" Event on the text box and the Refresh action on the report region for the IR, but it only refreshes when I "Enter" (submit). Any ideas on how I can get an AJAX-like action using dynamic actions?
