Help locating rendered files for relinking after a crash.

I am working on an adobe premier pro project and my computer crashed yesterday. the project file no longer opens as it is asking where certain rendered files are located...  I do not know where premier is hiding them so when I hit skip or try to offline them the project tries to open and it freezes up. I was able to open an auto save file but now the project runs very very slowly... every click or action takes the computer about 2 minutes to respond and if I click while it is thinking... it crashes.

Maybe a shot in the dark, but did you at anytime change your project scratch disk settings at any time. If not maybe have a look at the Default folder for scratch disk settings. Can't remember exactly where it is but it will be on your boot drive under user/ your name or failing that try relocating it by copying  the file asked for when PP loads and do a search on your entire machine. This may reveal something usefull like a location where stuff has been saved.
Hope that helps.

  • Itunes unable to locate original file for music after update. How can I find it

I am not able to play any of my music since the last update to itnes. It gives me a message that the original file canot be located but when I say locate it comes back with nothing. Any suggestions?

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • Itunes can longer locate windows media files for songs after the last software update.

If I sync now will it delete those songs it can not find on the ipod ?

thanks. I tried WMA from apple downloads and it seemed to have converted them but when i copied across to itunes and pressed play nothing was happening and i relaised where it says time it shows 0.00, so not sure where I went wrong.
I did look at switch before EasyWMA but that didnt seem to be working either, it created a new file for the songs to go into but no songs appeared in mp3 format after i clicked on convert so I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.

  • Can't Locate Rendered Files

    Premiere Pro CC
    Macbook.
I am around 2 minutes deep into a well polished project, When i opened the project, my latest rendered images weren't there.
The entire project was still fully rendered but seemed to be a much earlier save than my last save.
I reopened the project and was prompted to locate the rendered files, but when i finally locate them they are greyed out/or have mysteriously jumped out the folder.
I have not moved any files whilst making this project, although it would seem that all the latest rendered files have moved to another location.
I searched for all my rendered files and dragged them into a folder on the desktop, but in the file locator the new folder doesn't display any files at all, even with the box untucked for display only exact images.
This seems like a major glitch to me, but i can't help think i've made an error along the way.
    Thanks in advance!

IF the songs are not actually on the drive, then they are not there.
The only resolution is to either copy them from the old computer or the backup of your old computer...
Syncing with iTunes is one way, computer to idevice.

  • Itunes can't locate original files for songs on my external harddrive

I recently added my music collection to a new computer from my external harddrive. At first everything worked great, now when i open itunes and try to play songs that are located on the harddrive the following error message pops up "The Song "xxxx" could not be used because the original file could not be located. Would you like to locate it?" I am able to locate the files one at a time, but i have over 12000 songs. I am wondering if there is a way to make itunes recognize that all of the songs it is looking for are located on the external harddrive. Any/all help is appreciated.

1)if you have an ipod than you are in luck. plug it in.
2)go to my computer and select your ipod.
3)click on search and DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING IN OR CLICK ON ANY THING.
4)you will be on the first page with the little charactor in the bottom left hand side of the page.
    5)just click "OK" NOTHING ELSE!!!!!!!!
    6)then click on search
7)when it is done searching, select all your music and PUT IT IN A FOLDER. any folder will be fine.
8)select all of the music in the new folder and drag and drop it in to itunes.
9)that is it but if you have any questons email me at [email protected]

  • Need Help! Bios file for Compaq SR2010NX

Hello all,  I'm looking for the original bios file for the SR2010NX.  HP doesn't have it on their website and my computer won't boot correctly with it.  ahhhhhh.  I appreciate any help!!!
    Thanks John

According to what I found, that has this motherboard:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00757470&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=2093&product=323...
Which is a A8M2N-LA  Naos-GL6, is this that what you have?  And what BIOS are you looking for, or should I say what did you try to put on it?
I happen to have the same motherboard on an old Compaq, so I could possibly exctact the BIOS file if it is the one you are looking for.  It showes 3.00 I beleive but I will check if you need the info.

  • Locate referenced files for whole library?

    Hello,
I have a referenced library (internal drive, iMac) with Masters (on an external drive). I made a back-up duplicate (finder copy) of that Masters volume, on another drive. Now I'm working from that duplicate copy of "Masters" (same name, spelling, as original "Masters", on a separate external drive).
How do I reconnect all 60,000 referenced files (from the duplicate "Masters" drive) with my library (on the iMac). I know how to do them one file at a time from the Aperture library (File > Locate Referenced Files) but can not figure out how to reconnect everything in one or two easy clicks.
    Help!
    Thanks!
    Patrick

Select a batch of images, and go into +Locate Referenced Files+ - just the same as doing one at a time. Match up one image from your batch with the file and then, instead of hitting the <Reconnect> button, hit the <Reconnect All> button.
Do a small batch initial until you get the hang of it, and then make a bigger selection and go and have a cup of tea...

  • Audition 5.5 - Help with .wav files for phone system - making a hold message PC & Mcc

    Hello everyone,
I am really frustrated trying to create a .wav file for our phone system and I was hoping someone might have some suggestions as I am new to using Adobe Audition. Our phone system will only accept .wav files for our hold messages but the tricky part is that is can only be a maxiimum streaming bit rate of 64 kbps. Everything we've created under 256 kbps becomes in-audible and I'm really not sure what to do as the current messages sound fantastic. Our current hold message is 35 seconds long and we have another one we are about to do which will be 2 minutes long (uuuugh).
    - I've tried first converting the .wav file to an .mp3, lowering the bit rate to 64 kbps, then converting back to .wav but the bit rate goes up to almost 1500 kbps after re-converting.
    - I've tried making the track mono, reducing the sample rate to 22k but the size ends up being somewhere between 512 and 768. If I lower the sample rate much further and convert to 8bit, the audio sounds terrible.
    - I've also tried using Adobe Media Encoder, Audacity, Hand Brake, OS X Automator and a few other programs all with the same results.
    - I've tried re-recording the audio on a handheld .mp3 recorder hoping the initial quality would be less (originally recorded on a PC through Audition with a external mic).
Unfortuantely, the person who used to do these conversions is no longer with the company, never documented the process and all I know is that they used to do this on a Mac. Also, the software that uplaods the files is a Linux based which is out of my area of expertise so I'm not able to tinker with it to make any headway.
** Any sort of suggestion would be greatly aprpeciated as I really don't know much about audio. I've been working on this for 2 weeks now and this is really driving me crazy. **

Eugh! Converting to MP3 is absolutely not the thing to do!

Okay, in reverse order: I know it sounds daft, but actually you want to start with the best recording you can possibly have. You are going to have to reduce its bit rate, but if you reduce a crap signal's bit rate, it inevitably ends up worse than reducing a good signal's one; when you think about that for a moment, it's going to make sense (I hope...).
As for what you need to do - well it's going to have to be a mono file anyway (you haven't got a stereo telephone system), and that will immediately halve the streaming rate, but the other thing you need to bear in mind is that telephones have a limitited bandwidth, and that your sample rate, even at 22k, is going to give you more bandwidth than the system has. If you can reduce it to 8k, it will work fine. This will still give you an upper frequency limit of 4kHz, and that's more than adequate for telephone speech, believe it or not...
The other thing, and this is where I think you may be running into trouble, is that 8 bit streaming is pretty much the norm here. All it does is to increase the noise floor, so that the signal to noise ratio is about 48dB instead of the 96dB it would be with a 16-bit signal. But, to get this to work to your advantage, you have to optimise the audio you are using in the first place. Chances are that you need to compress your recording so that it has a relatively limited dynamic range before reducing it to 8-bit, and then you'll be fine. This is better anyway for telephone systems - there's far less chance of bits of the message being missed because they're too quiet. Also, you don't want massive great peaks in the recording - these just reduce the maximum overall level for the majority of the message sound. So, you need to apply a limiter to get rid of them, leaving the majority of the speech sounding just as good, only louder. All of this you can easily do in Audition - don't need any other software at all.
So, my guess is that the previous maker of your messages knew exactly what he was doing. Yes, he could have documented the basic steps, but he couldn't have been absolutely specific about it because no two recordings are the same. I'll attempt to explain the basic steps in English, but how well you will be able to follow this, I'm not sure...
The basic process I'd go through with the recordings is firstly to normalize them to 0dB, then look at how far down most of the 'green' parts are - this is the bulk of the signal, and where all of the meaning is. Then, you apply a limiter to this so that those green parts don't have peaks sticking out of them. Then, if you need to, normalize again so that the green part moves to the upper part of the waveform space (towards where 0dB is). Then, if you need to, apply compression to the signal so that the level of it sounds about the same all through the message.
Now, when you reduce your signal to mono, 8k, and 8-bit, pretty much everything about the original signal will still be there. That should stream 8-bit words at 8k, making 64k streaming for a single mono channel. This will work fine, but only if you optimise the signal first - otherwise no chance!

  • Help on css files for multiple platforms from media queries.

I am trying to make a new site friendly to bith the tablet and smart phone users.  My media queries program requires me to attach new css files for each new platform.  When I design these new css files do I simply go to the box and limit the width?  Is there something else I need to do?

If you're using the Media Queries panel in Dreamweaver, then yes. You just specify the .css file, and enter in the min and/or max width for each range of screen sizes.
It will insert code that looks something like:
    <link href="tablet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="only screen and (min-width:481px)">

  • Files for Adobe Reader Cause Crash

Every time I try to open a file for adobe reader, whether I get it embedded in my browser or download it from the internet either Safari crashes or Adobe Reader application crashes no matter what it is. I switched to firefox because Safari kept unexpectedly quitting constantly and it was becoming so frequent that I couldn't even do anything. Any advice on how to get the adobe reader plugin for safari to work(which i did install)? Or how to get any files to work? My friend has this same problem on her iBook, too.

    Hello David:
First, I would trash the Safari preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restart. Then I would uninstall the current Adobe reader you have installed (get all of it) and then download the latest version from the Adobe web site. FWIW, I have no trouble at all with either safari or reading PDF files.

  • Help Locating music files after transferring  using Windows Migrartion Assistant

I am new to mac I just bought a new MacBook Pro Friday. I have an iPod, iPhone, and an, iPad that I need to get setup on my Mac. The way I have them setup on my Windows 7 PC is I can select wich iTunes library to open by pressing the shift key while clicking on the iTunes icon. My first question is can I set that up like that on the Mac as well? Also I used Windows Migrartion Assistant to transfer my music files from my windows 7 PC to my Mac after the transfer was finished I cannot locate the music files on the Mac anywhre. Can anyone help.

Apparently the old external drive is going bad. I turned it off and waited an hour or so and restarted it, and all my files were back. I have copied them to my PC hard drive to be safe. However, my iTunes is now totally screwed up. Although the music files are back where they were (for now), iTunes cannot find any songs except the few that were copied to the new drive when I did the consolidate. I tried the Consolidate Library again and it stops because it cannot find the files. Am I going to have to point iTunes to the location of every song, one at a time, for over 2800 songs?

  • Rendered files for hardware output?

I'd like to get the best results possible when "playing out" a given Premiere sequence through my Kona LHi. I'm particularly
interested in optimizing downconversion (HD-SD) via hardware. If there are differences between "preview" output and "play"
output, I'd like to know what effect that has on a hardware "playout".
Given a sequence that doesn't need rendering, I have the Pr program monitor set for high quality, full res, full speed, and
have the player set to AJA. Clicking the "play" arrow, I'm able to output the sequence from Premiere, and capture the down-
converted video on a second PC. Very good results!
My question / concern is more related to the case when rendering might be necessary, such as when there is a yellow or red
line above the sequence. Under this circumstance, if the sequence is rendered, will the output to the Kona LHi be degraded,
or just as good as a sequence that doesn't need rendering?
So, if a render IS required, might I be better off exporting a DI file, re-importing the DI, then outputing the DI through the hardware? Or, would letting Premiere create the preview (render file?), and outputting the preview through the hardware be just as good?
    Comments will be appreciated...Ben
