[Help] Lock/Sleep button broken!

Not sure why this happened. All the sudden the other night my lock/sleep button stoppedon working (button on the top left of the iPhone).
Its VERY hard to press in, and it's not sticking up as much as it should be. I have to use 2 fingers to press it, and I have to press very firmly. I don't want to send it to Apple because I need a phone and I don't want to go without it for weeks while they fix mine. Also the closest apple shop is 2 hours away.
What can I do?!

Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch > Toggle On
This feature can be used as your Sleep/Wake button for now.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The only way out of Recovery mode is to connect to iTunes and restore. If you cannot access the computer you normally sync with, you will lose all of your content, unless you sync to iCloud. With no backup present, your content will be lost.

I just tried to delete all my data from my iPhone 5 32gb iOS 7.0.4 (with not working lock/sleep button) to install iOS 8.0.2 and after that the loading bar appeared on the screen. When it finished, the iPhone rebooted and went into Recovery Mode loop and it is still in it (after 3 hours +). Also, iTunes doesn't detect the iPhone at all.

HT201401 iPhone Lock/Sleep button was all of a sudden hard to push, never dropped and in great condition

I woke up one morning and my new iphone's lock/sleep button was really hard to push. It didnt click it only felt like it was stuck, except I could turn it on and off using pressure. Just wondering if theres any way my warranty would cover this or any way to fix this. Anything helps really, thanks.

I'm having the same issue. I have turned off Voice and Data in the Enable LTE setting and have only kept it on Data Only, because where I work, my phone constantly switches between 3G and 4G LTE. I don't think the signal is consistant enough where I work for VoLTE yet. have dropped at least 5 calls in the last 2 days. My iPhone 5 NEVER dropped a call. Also my signal doesn't seem as strong as my iPhone 5. It was rainy out yesterday and the iPhone 6 stayed on 3G the entire day. The only way to get it on 4G is to switch Enable LTE off and back on again. Not to mention my display is kind've buggy. I really hope the next update addresses these issues. Hard to state best iPhone ever, and not have it work as well as the last gen.

Lock/Sleep button not working

My lock sleep button just stopped working. It feels loose and it no longer clicks. I have not dropped it and it has always had an Otter Box on it. I took it out of the case to double check and its not cause of the case. Looking online this seems to be becoming a bigger problem. My one year warrenty ended two months....HELP!!!!

The iPhone is out of warranty so Apple won't replace it. This happened to me not to long ago and the guy at the Apple Store showed me a feature that I used as the Sleep/Wake button until I got a new iPhone. Give it a try.

Yes unless the iPod has been abused, like dropped.

My iPod Touch 4G Lock/Sleep Button Will Not Work

I recently had an incident with my iPod Touch 4G where the screen was shattered to the point of no use. I sent my iPod Touch off to a Non Apple repair place (good example of why you should NEVER do this) due to me not having enough money to get apple to fix it and there not being a warranty on my device. When I got it back everything is working except for the lock/Sleep button. I asked about it and the person I had repair it said that he could not find what was wrong with it. Is there any way that I can fix this without paying a large price or am I never going to be able to get this fixed? I cant turn it on without plugging it in, lock it, or unlock it and it is really annoying and I am thinking about just getting rid of it if I can't get it fixed.
"Note: I have tried a full restore 2 times and it did not fix the issue. I also had the person check all the ribbon cables and they are all fine and correctly attached."

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue.

Iphone 4 will not turn on with or without charger. Lock/sleep button is broke. Itunes will not identify phone.

My Iphone 4 shut off randomly last night while charging. It will not turn on with or without charger (I have tried multiple working outlets and usb ports. Didn't work)
The lock/sleep button is broke (I tried pushing it down on multiple surfaces as hard as I could while holding the home button. Didn't work.)
My Itunes will not identify the phone is hooked up to the computer (my itunes is completely up to date. I tried all the methods of pressing down the home button and pluuging in the usb chord while Itunes is running.Tested my roomates Iphone 4 with my chord and it charged and Itunes identified it. Tried his chord as well. Didn't work.)
All the advise I can find in these communities involves using the phone. The screen is black completely black no matter what I do. It makes no noise either (called it several times) I have read about 15 different posts on here and tried every method I found more than once. Do I just need to take it in?

Apple won't repair it, they just offer you an out of warranty replacement, cost is US $149. Me? I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a discontinued model. I'd sell it for parts on eBay or go to a third-party repair shop. Power/sleep button broken i need to get it into DFU mode.

Hi all i dropped my Iphone 3GS today and sadly the power/sleep button just stopped working but i really need to put it into DFU mode so i can restore the device and update the device i was wondering if there was any other way, also i have no time to go into a apple store as i am it college and work and i can't really afford to repleace this phone, if i coulf get it into DFU mode then i would be fine unto i get a new job

Yes i had the phone for 1 and a half years now. and no the sim thing is when i updated to IOS5.0.1 i have read about it and it has happend to quite a few people when there updated to the IOS5 or 5.0.1, 5.1 is meant to fix this issue so i heard.
I tried the sim in a friends phone Iphone 3G, activates fine, I been down to my local orange shop there said there seen a few problems like this and it is due to the IOS5 or 5.0.1 there tried over 20 sims and managed to get one to work i think it is because of the basebind update, but anyway i have took my phone into a local repair shop and there are repairing it for me and wow there have good prices there can repair it for £30 and it be ready first thing in the morning, apple said there can repair it for £80 and it could take upto 3 weeks so i need my phone for tommorow so i took it into the repair shop and it is alot cheaper.

Lock screen button broken...

about 2-3 weeks ago, my lock screen button stopped working. like as in it constantly seems like its down. it doesnt sit up in the normal postion. i have to dig a thumbnail into the space on the side up the button, get it to lift up a bit, and mash it down in an awkward way that hurts my thumb..
once i discovered assistive touch, this wasnt really an issue (besides screenshots and restarting). well, about a week ago, i dropped my phone and shattered the back glass. cheap easy fix i know, but heres my dilemma. about 3 days ago, my phone started rasndomly shutting down on its own. once with 30% battery, once with 80% while plugged in, while not plugged in. this last time took me a day and a half to i guess let the battery drain before i could plug it in and get the red charging logo.
its back on now, but not sure for how much longer. i already have a new back glass piece in the mail (buddy works at sprint, said hed do it for me, ordered before the super bowl) but im afraid if i do that, Apple will be able to tell if i take it in for the button issue and be less likely to replace for free. on the other hand, im afraid if i take it in as is, they will blame the broken glass/drop on the button issue, and the random power downs.
i could live with the button being broke, as annoying as it is. i can live with the broken glass (one day not in the case, let er breathe!) but i cant live with the phone being off, and unable to reboot or anything for hours/days at a time.
advice/stories/suggestions/tips?

just to add,
once not long after the drop incident, it did power down on me. i finally got it to reboot but was a pure white screen, which after about 3 minutes faded away gradually, with almost a flickering to it. im pretty sure the drop and the other issues are related but not the button.

Oh no worries about that. Apple is not going to touch the device regardless.
They will offer an Out of Warranty replacement because as you've stated you have already dropped the device and damaged it. This is not covered under warranty.
If your friend or anyone other than Apple opens the device, then the warranty is voided.
Bit the bullet and spend the $149 for a replacement device, or if elligible for an upgrade through your carrier, get a new device.

IPhone 4 sleep button broken, out of warranty

My iPhone 4 is about 15 months old and about 3 months ago the sleep button sank slightly and became more and more difficult to use.
My service provider offered me an upgrade to the iPhone 4S for £300, and offered me £220 for the handset considering it was fully functional (to their terms and conditions which were it still sends and received texts and calls, and the software was original. They say they don't take money off for wear and tear). So I took that option, as I was happy to pay the £80 upgrade cost.
Now, they have returned my phone and said it doesn't turn on so they couldnt give me any more than £50 for it. I explained you had to push the sleep button quite hard but it is fully functional. They didn't agree.
So my iPhone is out of warranty (i assume?!) and because of a, quite evidently frequent problem, I am out of pocket.
Will Apple not sort this for me?
And if not, what are my options? It just seems unfair that JUST after I had the phone for 12 months it breaks and puts me well out of pocket.

The warranty is for 12 months and that is that
You could have taken it to Apple Genius bar and they would have replaced it for a refurb for £119 over the counter
which would be worth ,if you also get your Uk carrier to unlock it first up to £300 on ebay etc anecdotally
In fact you could still take it in for a refurb exchange and you will have a like new iPhone4
