Help, lost all the songs on my iPod when checked the box titled "Replace all items when Autofilling" in my Autofill Settings window.

Help, I lost all the songs on my iPod when I deleted a few songs from my iTunes Library, checked the box titled "Replace all items when Autofilling" in my Autofill Settings window, and then tried to Autofill. Note that I do not purchase songs from iTunes, but rather I rip songs off my own cd's and then transfer the mp3 files to iTunes.  And after I transfer mp3 files from my pc to iTunes and then Autofill, I generally delete those files from my pc.
I can still see the songs in my iTunes Library, but not on my iPod.  Is there a way that I can salvage them and get them back on my iPod?
Thanks in advance.

Well you will have to wait to connect you ipod to the orignal computer and it will put all your songs back on to it.

  • HT4914 Is there a way to upload the songs from my iPod directly to the cloud (iTunes Match)?

This question is for my Mom as she has she messed up her iTunes and is missing thousands of songs.  She did not back them up to an external drive.  She does, however, still have her iPod with all of her songs organized correctly.
I was able to get the songs from her iPod back to her iTunes; however, some of the albums are splitting into multiples albums (based on whether or not there are multiple artists on the track and/or album).  Is there a way to fix this?  If so, how?  If not, is there a way to bring the iPod to an apple store and have them upload the songs directly from her iPod to iTunes match and then download from the cloud so there aren't syncing issues?

IF not, you can redownload all your past purchases. Setup the new iTunes with the same ID  and password; select Purchases from the right-hand Quick Links column, then go thru all the tabs and redownload.

  • I had my computer worked on and did not back up my itunes library.  how do i put the songs on my ipod back to the itunes library

I had my computer worked on and did not back up my itunes library.  Now the only music I have is on my ipod.  How would I put the music on my ipod back into my itunes music library?

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
You should always maintain a backup copy.  This is very important.

  • I lost the songs of my ipod mini

I lost the songs of my ipod mini. The settings says that I have 0 songs, but when I see the available size says that I only have 5.4 MB, so I thinks that my songs still there.
    How can I recover them?
    Thanks!!!

I just recently had the same problem so hopefully my solution will help you (I know how frustrating it can be to be sans iPod).
I used my USB cable to connect my iPod to my computer. I then opened up the folders in my iPod from "My Computer" (as if though it were another drive). You should see a folder called "iPod Control" or something like that. If you don't see it, it's probably because the folder is hidden.
To see it, go to "tools" at the top of the screen, "folder options", the "view" tab, click on the "show hidden files and folders" and click OK. You should see the folder now. Inside that folder are all of your songs files.
I copied all of the songs from my iPod onto my computer's hard drive. Once that was done, I followed instructions from the Apple website on how to restore my iPod. Once my iPod was restored to factory settings, I put all of the songs back onto my iPod as usual and it worked!
    Hope this helps.

  • I can not see all the songs om  my ipod, why

    Boy do I need halp.
    1. I used "computer" windows 7 to delete all the songs on my ipod. BUT they didn't really delete because when I look my ipod in itunes the songs are there.
    2. I had a hard time transfering songs to my ipod so I again used "Computer" and I draged songs from the folder they were in to the ipod. BUT when I look at my ipod in itunes the songs are not listed, BUT there is a large amount of gb listed as other.
How do I start over?  That is, how do I take EVERYTHING off my ipod; the songs I can and can NOT see.  Remember after i deleted the songs using "computer" the songs are no longer listed but when I check the "disk properties" it shows there is spaced used about the size of the deleted files.
    Thanks

To start over from scratch, restore the iPod Shuffle to factory settings in iTunes, using the instructions in this Apple support document.

Then make sure that all the music you wish to sync to your Shuffle has been imported and stored in your iTunes library.  Then use this article to walk you through the process of configuring music to sync to your Shuffle via iTunes.

  • Why did all the songs on my iPod Touch disappear?

I was having some trouble adding an album to my iPod Touch, when all of a sudden, most of the songs on my iPod disappeared. The only ones left are the songs I purchased from iTunes. No, I did not click "autofill" or sync to a new iTunes library. My iTunes iPod library says all my songs are on my iPod, but my iPod only says some of my songs are on it. HOW CAN I GET MY SONGS TO REAPPEAR ON MY IPOD!?!?!
P.S. When I click on a song in iTunes under my iPod that doesn't show up in my iPod, a "!" appears.

    Have you tried restart?
    Reset?
    Restore?

  • Keeping all the songs on my IPOD

Alright, do you have to have all the songs currently on your IPOD in your itunes music Library on your computer for them to stay on your ipod every time you update?
    HP   Windows XP

You can remove the songs from your computer and keep
    them on your iPod.
You need to change the method of transferring music
    to your iPod to manual.
No I have kept my Ipod on autosync and just deleted the songs from the computer while they remain on the iPOD.
To keep the songs on your iPod just keep the tunes in your Itunes. then delete the actual songs files from your computer. When I rip my CDs to ACC the actual files are on my computer in the My Documents/ My Music/ iTunes/iTunes music/ ...then all the actual ACC files are on the computer listed by Artist. This is the default.
Keep songs in the itunes program, if you delete them from itunes, they are removed from your iPod if you sync it.
You won't be able to play the songs on your PC if you delete the songs from your computer of course....but they remain on your iPod.
But do back up any purchased music. I only remove songs from my computer if I already own the CDs.

  • I lost my iPod touch and now have a new one.  Is there a way to transfer all the songs on have in iTunes onto the new iPod?

I lost my iPod touch and bought a new one?  Is there a way to transfer all the songs I have in iTunes onto the new iPod?  I am scared I will lose it all when I sync the new one or that I have to start all over.   Please help!!

You can do better than that. You can click on the Restore button that appears under your device in iTunes. This will restore your iPod to factory settings as if it were fresh out of the box. But don't worry. By doing a restore, you will then be given the option to "Restore from Backup." This will allow you to restore the state of your previous iPod!!

    Ske7ch,
There's another alternative but I hope you take this as an opportunity to learn an important lesson: Back up your iTunes library as soon as you can because right now you are only one glitch of your iPod away from losing your music entirely.
And it's only a matter of time before that will happen. Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in such situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
If you place any importance on your playlists and the data they depend on, you will want to include your iTunes Library files in your back-up regimen as well.
Anyways, that's the lecture. What's the other alternative?

Good Luck! But once your music is back on your computer, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • HELP! After installing iTunes 7, all the songs on my iPod disappeared!

I dont know if othe people are having this problem too but it really *****!
I downloaded iTunes 7 a while back because i had no choice, i wouldnt be able to buy songs/music videos from it if i didnt.
    It installed a new iTunes
    then a new iPod upgrade.
A day later, i pluged in the iPod.
It asked me if i wanted to upgrade it with gapless playback because i thought it would save space or something.
so i put yes, and let it do it over night since it took so long..
then the next thing i knew when i woke up, is that all the songs on my iPod were GONE!
I even plugged it back into the computer and iTunes said there were no songs on my iPod! or videos or anything!
I rechecked everything and it said the iPod was still 98% full (because i had like 4,300 songs on it) and only 2mb of free space...
I checked iTunes and it said that the things were taking up space were 10% "pics" and 89% "other files".... so i know itunes can see the files there..
    I KNOW THEY'RE STILL THERE!
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME GET THEM BACK?!?!
I know it was the gapless playback thing... is there any way to undo it??
Please... someone help me... i cant just back up all my songs... because i reformatted my computer a while ago too.. so i have no backed up songs... and a lot are from other friends too!

IF all songs on the ipod are also on the PC
    Just restore the ipod
    If Not on the PC
You will have to TRY and rep[air the ipods database with yamipod. This way is not full proof, but its the only option you have since you have not backed up http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/docs/help/corruptedipod.php

  • MY hard drive crashed and I had to replace it. Now when I try to sync my iPod with iTunes it says that I have to replace the old library (that is lost forever) with the new library to sync. I do not want to lose all the songs on my iPod! What can I do?

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.
