Help...Lost library

Have just downloaded itunes and spent ages importing cds to library. I have located my library folder in an external hard drive. Everything was going well till I closed itunes, when I opened it back up my music wasn't in the library. It is still on the external hard drive, so I know I've not lost it I just can't get itunes to access it. Does anyone know how I can overcome this problem? I have checked the settings in itunes to make sure that the right hard drive is selected. Any help would be much appreciated.

Try holding down the Option key Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact. In function palette-instrument I/O i have lost library:INSTR LIB

when i clik on instrument I/O in the function palette, inside i have this library:GPIB,SERIAL,VISA,I/O COMPATIBILIY but i lost library INSTR LIB.
In directory c:\programmi\national instrument\labview6\instr lib there are all my driver instrument
haw can i view this driver in function palette\instrumet i/O ?

Error when I click on Help -- SAP Library

Hi guys,
When I click on Help --> SAP Library or Help --> Application Help or Help --> Glossary
I get an error message as follow:

Could not find file

For details please check the entries in the files SAPDOCCD.LOG in the windows directory.
SO how to solve this problem...
And is there a way to change the path in which the system look to when i click SAP Library from the path shown above (L:\ Data\....) to another path??

Are the html help files installed on the "L:\DATA\..." drive ? and are the help files installed in language "NL" (Dutch) ?
You can control the path where to look for the files in 2 ways (as i remember):
1) by customizing the SAPDOCCD.INI file on your local workstation (if exists). (User specific)
2) by customizing in transaction SR13 within your R/3. (System specific)
But in the SAPDOCCD.LOG file you should be able to see how the location is found, and from where.
Every thing however (including basic trouble shooting) is described in SAP's document "Installing the SAP Library" or something like this....

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I don't know how to fix the xml file or prevent it's damage except to keep a current backup copy of the domain.sites2 file. You can do that on an hourly basis with Time Machine or use a backup application like Synk Standard which can do incremental backup (i.e. copy just those new or changed files) at any time.
As for separating the sites into their own domain files I use iWebSites to manage over 75 individual sites. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
There is a downside to this method if you're publishing to MobileMe. When publishing multiple sites to MMe from their own separate domain file the last published site will be the default site when using the default URL for that MMe account: http://web.me.com/MobileMeAccountName/. That could mess up any CNAME forwarding if you have a domain name pointed to your default MMe site.

Help - lost motherboard, auto save saved older script, newer script actually with older date.

Adobe story team:
I had a best script to date, on an older hard drive and the motherboard failed on my HP tower. The sony laptop has a more recent dated script, but not the one I want. How do I replace an "older" date script, one that I want for a newer script. I don't want the newer script, I want the older one that is on a "pulled" hard drive again, from a tower that failed.
Do I save the older file on an offline, using a new ID, new password, forever changed or what can I do?
I need a fairly quick response, timing is critical. HP tower is the problem.

You have it half right. the issue is the HP tower I had failed. The mother board failed, I pulled the hard drive which is windows 7, I have a sony laptop which is in 32 bit vista, I am not sure if the different versions will be an issue. can i take a file off the pulled hard drive and put it somewhere in a directory even with the different windows vista vs windows 7 if so which file should i copy on the pulled hard drive and where do i put it on the laptop, directory plus I will go back on online save it in the clouds and reformat the laptop and go to windows 7 then go back to adobe story and go from there. thank you for your quick attention in this matter.

I am not sure if I understand your problem correctly, but as far as I can make out you had been working on a script and then it got autosaved and now you wish to go back to the "older" script.
In order to do so you may visit your document's history through the View->History option. There you will see older versions of your document (if you had not turned off autoversioning). You may then open an older version of the document from the panel by double clicking on it. Once on an older version you will get to see the "Make Latest" option. Clicking on that will make the "older" state of your document your "current" state and then you may proceed to edit the document as usual.
I hope this is helpful to your situation. In case you face any issues in following the mentioned steps do let us know.

Why it is no correct?

Please Help Me Find My Lost Library!

I have iPhoto 2 but I'm hoping someone can help me. I have an iBook G4 and I have had a lot of trouble with the libraries when they get full. I try to follow directions in Help but they don't make sense. At least today, I backed up my most recent library on a CD and at least have that because I have already lost the original. There are all of these folders with albums and different years but I am unable to pull up previous libraries. I can't believe there isn't an easier way to go back and forth between libraries. I have dragged a bunch of things to the trash that had nothing in them when I opened them but have not trashed them yet. I can't believe this has to be this difficult. I guess I tampered too much. Please can someone help me? Noel

Hi, thank you for your response. I will try your suggestion. I had two libraries. The one I just lost had 293 photos in it and I followed the instructions in the iPhoto help viewer, moving the library to another location and creating a new one. I tried to get it back and couldn't find it. At least I had burned it on a CD. The things I have in my Trash are things like Archive, Photo Library 2,3 and 4. I never had that many. Also there were 2 library folders that had 5 items in each and they were identical but whenever I go into a folder and click on an icon, it just brings up more pictures of folders with numbers on them. Maybe I need to find a Dummies book on iPhoto. I've had Macs for years but never had as much trouble as I've had with my laptopand iPhoto. The directions in the Help Viewer just don't make sense. I will get back to you after trying your suggestion. I have tried to bring back other libraries listed under Pictures in Finder but I get messages saying I need to create an application to open them. I usually don't have this much trouble but this has me stumped. Thank you, Noel

LOST LIBRARY - PLEASE HELP!!

Last night I was trying to move some pictures from my wife's phone to my MBP via bluetooth and something went wrong. At a guess, I saved the photo file that I was transferring AS iphoto not IN iphoto - but as i say thats a complete guess. I have moved photos onto the MBP before via bluetooth without problems.
When I open up iphoto now its completely blank and empty - our library was under the 'shared' users folder so that both my wife and I could see it whichever profile we were using. I haven't backed up previous to this (ironically my new G Drive Hard Drive arrived yesterday). I am in the process of backing up now before I try to recover my 'lost' photos - thought right now I am unsure how to do this.
Now when I try to open the iphoto library in the shared folder, it says 'there is no default application to open the document iphoto library' and takes me into the application folder (presumably) to select the iphoto application, but I don't want to select this until I have finished backing up, just in case.
Having looked at package contents under this iphoto library, I can see there is no 'originals' folder in there as has been mentioned in other threads.
Is anyone able to help please?

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point it at the Library location.
If that fails
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I have lost all my iTunes Library as my HDD is no good.
I have followed the instructions given as answer by another very helpful user such as.
Reinstall iTunes on the new HDD
Sign in with my iTunes Account
click Purchased on the right side in the iTunes Store
Then my past purchases are available to download.
No here is the problem my music (songs) are available to download GREAT!
BUT my audio books I have purchased on iTunes are not available NOT so great
I have looking every for them but to no avail.
I would really love to get my Audio Books back as I have a few and the they are not cheap to re buy.
All my purchases are still on my iPhone.

Use the backup of the computer to put all your content back.
If you do not have a backup and iBooks are not available for redownload, there is nothing you can do.

Help - Lost Photo Library

I amnew to tall this and on the advice of a friend, I have just downloaded OS X Mavericks and my photo library has disappeared due to a different version being installed! I am hoping that I have it backed up on icloud but unsure how to recover. Please help as I am desperate to recover photos. Nicola 162

Firstly -Mavericks is very good and seems to work fine even on old Macs.
Also it is good practice to run 'time machine' or in some way back up all your files before doing anything major like change the operating system. I realise this may be annoying info if it's too late for that.
Is there an item in your pictures folder called iPhoto Library.photolibrary?
If so right click and 'show package contents' to see all the photos.
If this is not it - had you kept your library on a different drive or location to the default one?
If so you can just locate it in the finder and double click to open it in iPhoto

HELP! Library File won't save, Playlists lost, and Itunes behaviour erratic

Can someone please help me? Itunes is doing my nut in. My Itunes was working fine until last week, when for some unknown reason, I connected my ipod to my PC and it killed all my USB ports. After stopping and restarting the Itunes service, that seemed to resolve itself.
However, today, I have had real problems with Itunes. First, it didn't want to open at all. Then, when it did open, I kept getting the dreaded 'Library file cannot be saved' message. I followed the instructions in the help articles, but as soon as I get to the stage where you move the library file to your desktop, it stopped Itunes working - it wouldn't load and gives me a message about some files missing.
So I uninstalled Itunes and re-installed it. Well, the first time it said there was something wrong with the installation package and it wouldn't work. The second time it got stuck on the registration process. The third time it worked but couldn't connect to the ITunes Store. Next time, it worked, and all my music is there, but the playlists have vanished and it keeps telling me the library file can't be saved.
Please help!!!!! (and no sarcastic comments about buying a Mac please...there's a recession on you know!)

This issue persists whether the drive is accessed via AFP network or FireWire.

Since downloading version 10.5 I have lost my itunes library and it does not recognise my iphone. It's like I've never used it before. Any fixes? windows vista

Just Hold down Shift key while you start iTunes. A Dialogue box will pop up, click "Choose the library" and point towards your existing library and the usual location for the file you need to open is <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.

a few days ago my laptop got wiped, i have lost everything
luckily my ipod still has all of my songs on it. i have reinstalled itunes. any ideas on how i can transfer the songs from my ipod back onto itunes. please help.

There is a free way of doing this in windows (Windows explorer), but its a long complexing process. The easy, faster way is using a 3rd party program that can read the iPod and copy everything to the PC. Most programs like this tho require you have "Disk Mode" enabled on your iPod tho so first I'll explain how to do that.
DO NOT CONNECT THE Ipod just yet. doing so may wipe its contents off. Now you will hold down the Shift AND ctrl key on the keyboard. WHILE HOLDING THEM DOWN, connect the iPod to the PC. Continue holding them down til iTUnes opens AND listest the iPod in the source list (On the left side where you see your playlist and all). Once you see it listed there then you can let go of the keys. this will stop any auto update from happening to the iPod.
Now rightclick the iPod in iTunes, hit "iPod Options". In the window that appears, look at the bottom and put a check beside "Enable Disk Usage". Enabling this feature means you will have to manually eject the pod from your PC everytime you connect it (You'll get pop up messages about this when you hit OK). Click OK and now your ready for a 3rd party program of your choice. Go here and read about how to look for programs and to follow a step by step instruction on using PodUtil or others to load things back to the PC.
