Help! Lost my photos

I shut down iPhoto because it locked up. We were working on albums with a lot of information in them. The last few hundred pictures we downloaded along with all of the albums we had made had disappeared when I restarted iPhoto. I looked in my library, but they aren't there. Is there any kind of recovery protocol I can use?

Try rebuild the database: hold down the option and apple keys and relaunch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
Have a look inside (but don't change anything) Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library Folder/ Originals
Are your missing photos in there?

Help, lost all photos and texts while syncing new iphone

While syncing my husbands new iphone 3 on itunes I gained all the music but lost all photos and texts... also all the apps and contacts from my iphone were added to his phone. Need help mostly on how to recover the photos that were deleted, there were about 1,000 of them and I didn't realize it was happening until it was too late....

Since reinstalling itunes i can no longer sync. Error message says already synced with another itunes library. I get a blank sync - no songs, photos ect as it comes up with this error whenever try to select what is to be synced. Help - lost everything

Yes... Everything will be Wiped and Replaced with what is currently on Your Mac.

You can't view your back up files at icloud.com.
You can't view your camera roll and you can't view your Photo Stream files at icloud.com.
The icloud back up plan allows you to "restore" your iOS device from the files you backed up at icloud.com.

There is no "update icon" in iOS versions earlier than iOS 5.
The update is very large (over 1.2 gigabytes). You need a good internet connection to download it to your computer. Maybe you'll need to take a trip to a city to get a good enough connection.

If she have an iCloud Backup, she can restore from iCloud backup.

If you took pictures and then set up your phone using a back up from an old phone, you have erased the pictures. If you emailed or texted them to someone, you may be able to get them back that way.

I'm don't understand what you're saying here.
In the iphoto window I somehow managed to open a type of "photo library" that includes every photo I've every downloaded on my computer in multiple and entirely random order.
This can happen if someone inadvertently drags the HD icon or even the home folder icon to iPhoto Window. The best soluion for that is to restore from your back up.

When I updated my Macbook Pro to Maverick, I lost I Photo. It seems as if my pics are still on the laptop, but I have a really hard time finding them. I no longer have I Photo. Can anyone help me in getting that application back and putting my pics back in it? I loved the faces feature. Thank you!

Run the >software update>iPhoto
If you have a legit copy of of iPhoto you are eligable for the Mavericks compatible version. Look for it in your applications folder along side the older versions.
If not purchase it on the AppStore to regain access to your iphoto library as you knew it.

If the photos were synced to the iPod;
- you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or Phone view to copy them to another computer.
- Email them to the computer
- See it there is an app available that will transfer them to your computer. However, there may not be any compatible with your model iPod and its iOS. There is the Photo Transfer app but that requires iOS 4.3 or above but your 2G iPod can only go as high as 4.2.1

So it appears you have only one library on the hard drive. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed to that library:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

One day all of a sudden, I lost all of my photos in aperture, the program still seems to be functioning though. I think that I was looking at photos on an external hard drive and when I tried to import, everything disapperared.

I switched on my mac today and opened Aperture, and every single photo one was not there. I have zero photos in my Library. The file size of my Library is 6mb.
I updated to 3.1 two days ago but Aperture has been working fine since the upgrade.
Somebody please help, I have lost every photo I have ever had.

Less hysteria, more logic:
1. Is your library managed or referenced?
2. What's the filename of your library?
3. Are you saying that the image files are no longer on the hard disk, or that they aren't appearing in Aperture?
4. What if any investigation have you done prior to your post?
5. and what Ernie said (overlapping posting time...)
