HELP... Machine crashed, need to put back data

Long story short, the machine running Oracle 9i crashed. I was able to get the Oradata directory from it, and format it, and put a fresh install of Oracle 9i on it. I need to know how to put the old data back onto the fresh install.
If it involves logging into Oracle Management Server, I've never done that, and I'd appreciate some instructions on that also. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi
yes you can simply overwrite the old datafiles with new ones.
You dont need to recreate a database with exact same structure though.
All you need to do is make sure that the drive letter (if windows) or the path are exactly the same as it was before and just create a demo database with the same name as you crashed db.
ie: D:\oracle\oradata\db_name
then just shutdown the database stop the service and past the old files on the new ones.
after it finishes just restart the service.
trick: you need to either have the old pwd<db_name>.ora file for the sys password, or you need to use the orapwd.exe in order to reset the sys password to the original one.
hope this will help

  • New PC, iPOD has 7000 songs I need to put back on new PC?

I have a new PC I have not installed iTunes on it yet. My iPOD has 7000 songs I want to put back into my library on iTunes when I install it. What is the proper procedure?
    Thanks in advance,

Use a program like yamipod (from yamipod.com) to take the songs and playlists back to iTunes on the computer. Best part is that yamipod is free.

  • Friend deleted app (my disk for iphone) and need to get back data from my icloud backup...need help!

I had this app called my disk (app store name is: Lock photo+video safe - secure folder manager to protect private photos vault & hide secret picture file privacy) This app lets me have two passwords with different pictures and videos in each of them. It's a really great app.
My friend deleted the app by "accident" and I need to get the app back with all my data. I have a backup of the app on my icloud backup that was taken place two months ago (around same time the app was deleted). It shows up in the cloud saying I have 4gb worth of that app in the cloud. I restore my phone back to that backup but the app data is not there. I wasn't sure if I had to wait till my iphone backs up everything (like music and pictures for example) for it to show up but as soon as the app downloaded I opened it hapilly knowing I have my data back but unfortunately it was not there. In the app itself, there's an option to backup from the cloud but it just brings up this window that says you can back up from the cloud (doesn't have a place to hit that says restore or anything).
Is there something I am doing wrong? Can anyone help me? I really need that app data back because I have pictures of memories with friends and family inside that app that I do not have anywhere else. Once i get the back back ill be sure to save the photos onto my computer just incase anything goes wrong again.
    Thanks everyone for the help!

It seems that in a case like this you'd need to reset the device to factory settings and then restore from iCloud backup.
Sadly the reset to factory settings could cause more trouble than its worth.
Apple's iCloud backup, could, but does not let the user restore one app or its data.
You'll also find that even though that App's data is in the cloud, you as its owner do not have access to it.
    Hope it helps/

  • Imac crashed/need to put itunes back on new computer

My imac recently crashed. How do I put everything (purchased AND cds) from my ipod back onto the new itunes?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    Floola Mac & Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay:
Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Time machine crashing and failing to back up

I have 5 intel macs all running snow leopard 10.6.5. I have a macmini server running 10.6.5. I have 4 of the five successfully backing up via time machine to the server.
One fails to back up. It has about 230GB of data on it. If I blow away the current backup and run time machine, it backs up about 25GB and then crashes. Subsequent attempts show that there is 205 GB to back up, it starts, backs up a few GB, maybe 4 or 5, and then crashes. Does the same thing consistently. I thought maybe corrupt files on the client so I have run Disk Warrior on it and Disk Utility. They report all fine now but there were some issues originally. Still the same problem though.
The console report follows and then the crash log. If anyone can translate it form me and suggest a cure, I'd be most grateful.
    thanks
    Mark

    Thanks Stanley.
I have already tried Disk Utility from an external firewire disk. It finds no errors now. I will try a new cable later today and am considering cloning off the disk via SuperDuper doing a low level format and then restoring.
Given it seems to crash at the same point every time file corruption/media damage seems the most likely problem? Does the crash log confirm this? Makes no sense to me. Gibberish...
    Thanks

  • Compatibility Issues with CS2 and Windows 2000 XP??? This is supposed to be THE one operating system CS2 DOES WORK ON? Can someone help - I really need my CS2 back! Thanks.

HELP! Years ago - SEVEN to be exact- I PURCHASED Adobe CS2 and used it extensively. Then I was in an accident that took five years to recover from. After my recovery I tried to get back to using my Adobe products only to find that Adobe was discouraging use of CS2 and since I OWN a LICENSE and that was the LAST version I used I wanted to begin again with a version I am familiar with. Many months later, apparently I wasn't the only one who wanted to KEEP USING CS2 and now Adobe has made it possible to download this version for PC and MAC, BUT due to OS compatibility issues Adobe continues to discourage downloading and use. HERE'S THE THING: I have the SAME SYSTEM running the SAME OS as when I first PURCHASED IT. I have downloaded the EXACT SAME VERSION of CS2. It installs fine. But I cannot OPEN the application and the troubleshooter reports there are "COMPATIBILITY ISSUES". WHY?!?!?!?!?
I'm on a PC running Windows 2000 XP. I OWN a LICENSE for Adobe CS2 and it used to run on this very same machine. I had to re-format my system two years ago so it has much more free space but when I  try to OPEN the application it won't run. When I run the Windows Troubleshooter it reports system compatibility issues?! Can anyone advise me what to try now??? Thank you.

Yes, I have. My system was completely cleaned of everything and I'm just now RE-INSTALLING CS2 for Windows2000 XP from the Adobe site that gives you versions to select for your OS. I have successfully downloaded disks 1,2 and 3 and I can INSTALL disks 1 and 2, but it FAILS at disk 3. I REALLY need to resolve this today because I need to submit some work by tomorrow and the troubleshooting isn't helping!
Can you advise anything else . . . anyone? Thank you!

  • Please help! Desperately need to retrieve critical data from dead Curve 9330

    Re-posting as I'm desperate.
My phone shut down while making a call.  The screen went black, no LED signal light, no power, totally dead.
    Actions already attempted:
    1) removed/replaced battery multiple times,
    2) inserted fully charged spare battery,
    3) connected to charger cord,
    4) connected to computer via USB and
    5) connected to computer via USB with battery removed.
The phone has not been subjected to water or cooked by heat.  It was operating perfectly fine for six months prior to this event. One caveat: the phone was running on software one version (5.5?) behind the current latest version (6.0?), as the newer software slowed my phone to a crawl plus I really didn't like the new calendar software.
Verizon is replacing the phone under the warranty program but I I desperately need to retrieve critical medical and tax data from this dead device as I regrettably have not backed up in the six months since I purchased the phone.
Any help/replies are urgently needed as I am required to return the dead device within five days of receiving the replacement unit (expected today 8/26/11).  Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

You don't have BlackBerry Protect installed on the device, by any chance? If so, you'd have an over the air backup of contacts, calendar, SMS, etc.
I'd suggest one last time, leave it charge a couple of hours on a wall outlet charger. After a few hours, keep it connected to the charger, remove the battery for a few minutes, replace and see if it boots.
If not, then I think you're stuck.
We might be able to get the device to reload the OS and power up again, but you will lose all your data.

  • Need to put OS/data from G5 onto G4

I had a G5 and the power supply went out.  I sold the G5 but kept the HD.  Well last week I needed to get some information off the drive and purchased a G4 from goodwill.  The drive on the G4 was wiped so there is no OS.  I have system booting OS X from a external USB drive, the drive from the G5,  and it is slow.
The drive from the G5 is a 150 GB drive and I have two 80 GB drives in the G4.  Since the G5 drive is SATA it will not work in the G4.  Is there a simple way to move all the data from the G5 drive and place it on the two G4 drives?
I have tried migration assistant and it doesnt see the usb drive(G5)

If you want to put a bootable copy onto the G4, then use Disk Utility:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the G4 drive. Source means the external G5 drive.
If you are only copying data then use drag and drop or a backup utility such as Carbon Copy Cloner - MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

  • Help! I need to go back!

I recently installed OSX 10.6. I set up boot camp with Vista in hopes of getting rid of parallels. Now however Parallels states it cannot work with 10.6. How do I go back? My 10.4 install disk won't work. Will restoring from Time Capsule work?

    Hi Derek,
the Parallels DMG file contains an uninstaller for Parallels, but the Virtual Machine files might be deleted by yourself.
Also Parallels has an update that claims to be compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6 http://www.parallels.com/download/desktop/

  • Help!  I need to put an auto message on my email and it is not working!  Can someone tell me how to do this on Macbook Pro/Mail?

Can someone help me set up a vacation message on mail?  I tried the rule, but it did not work.

It's best not to rely on rules constructed in Mail, or any other mail client.  That can result in infinite mail loops (where your autoreply triggers someone else's autoreply, which triggers yours again, etc).  You should use whatever vacation mail capability is provided by the mail server.  Those are typically more robust, and have conditions that will prevent infinite mail loops from happening.  Of course, you should also think twice about using vacation messages at all, since they can reply to spam, which can cause all kinds of problems.

  • Need to change forecast data thru planning book + doubt while creating POS

    hi friends,
my application creates forecast data for following.
product , location start date , end date.
i need to put this data into APO(DP).
i know i can do it using BAPI CHANGEKEYFIGUREVALUE2 of Planning Book APs
my doubt is while create a Plng Object store, what fileds do i take as charachteristics which match these, please reply if have some clue

    Hi Rohit,
I believe i misunderstood your first post. I had given the BAPI parameters that you need to fill up for the given business requirements you have mentioned. I realized you were asking about the POS.
Answer to Q1: You can not place time characteristics in the POS. You will define the "time characteristics" in your Planning Area by specifying a relevant storage bucket profile.
Answer to Q2: You dont need to add time characteristics in the POS.
Answer to Q3: 9AVERSION is not included in the POS. However, when you use BAPIs BAPI_PBSRVAPS_GETDETAIL and BAPI_PBSRVAPS_CHANGEKEYFIGVAL to read/write data from/to the planning area you need to supply a selection for the planning version (9AVERSION).
    Hope this helps.
