HELP! Mail icon won't go back to default after upgrade!

I used Candybar to customize my icons. I had made PNG files for just about everything. After I upgraded to Snow, my Mail icon now shows as a PNG preview icon, instead of what I made, and won't go back to it's Default (blue eagle icon).
What I've tried:
- Mail info, repasting new icon, no go.
- Candybar, redoing new icon, no go.
- Mail info, cut preview icon, no go.
Help! Do I have to reinstall Mail or something to get an icon back? Nothing works! Even new PNG or ICO files!
Thanks!

I figured it out.

  • Mail icon won't stay in dock

Recently my mail icon removed itself from the dock. It may be a sync issue because it started when I began using my second laptop and trying to use the iCloud/mobile me sync.
My mail wasn't on the dock in #2 when I started it. I went through and tried to make everything equal to machine 1 but some programs are not the same. The next time I started machine 1, all of the dock items were equal to 2 so I reset the dock items on 1. When I went back to 2 they had reverted again.
Now my mail icon won't stay put on 1. It was removed (mysteriously) from the dock. Now when I put it back, it disappears within a few seconds. If I open mail and then click on "keep in dock" and close mail, it disappears, too.
I have reset my sync data to replace mobile me with info from machine 1. No luck.

I seem to have resolved the issue by moving mail from the applications folder to the desktop. Then dragged mail from desktop to the dock. It seems to have stayed in the dock.
I moved mail from the desktop back to the applications folder and all seems fine now.
I am going to leave the "sync dock, sync widgets" options off.

  • My mail icon won't open

my mail icon won't open but the bar goes across and i can't open my mail from there either.  Also when it goes to the top of the screen it won't let exit it and i have to do a hard shutdown.  can someone help.

    With Mail quit....
Go to the User's Library folder. This folder is hidden by default. To unhide: Select the Finder in the Dock. Under Go in the Menu bar > hold down the Option key and you’ll see the Library.
      • Go to Containers.  Drag the com.apple.mail folder to the Desktop
      • Go to Mail folder.
Select the V2 > MailData folder.
Delete any files in MailData with envelope in the name. (should be 3)
      • Go to Preferences. If you find any com.apple.mail.plist files, delete these.
Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar
    Log in
Open Mail. Mail will reindex your files.
Let me know if this helps.

  • Mail Icon won't stay in the position in the dock where I put it

I have a very strange happening on my iMac (OSX 10.5.5). The mail icon in my dock won't stay in the position where I put it. After a few seconds, it moves to the last position in the dock (before the dashed line). If my dock is at the bottom of screen, the mail icon moves to right just before the dashed line. If my dock is on the right side of screen, the mail icon moves to the bottom just before the dashed line. Each time I move the mail icon to another position in the dock, it moves back to the last position. Can anyone help me figure this out - so that I can put the mail icon where I want it to appear? Thank you. Dale

first a question for you. are you using Mobileme? I've seen a number of posts with the same problem by people using Mobileme (which i don't have). haven't seen a resolution to this but you might want to check in the mobileme forum. If you are not using mobileme try resetting Dock preferences. delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.dock.plist and restart Dock by running the following terminal command
    killall Dock
This will reset your Dock to the default and hopefully fix the issue.

  • Help! Icons won't open

I have a problem recurring on and off where when I turn my computer on, none of the icons open. I have to manually shut it down with the button, Then, when I start up again there is often just a black screen, or the same thing happens where the icons won't open, or it starts a disc scan. So far, if I  walk away and come back to it much later in the day, it will work again. Am wasting so much time, and I am am afraid one of these days it just won't be usable at all. I have a toshia satellite, just barely a year old, with windows 7 (which I loathe.)( Any suggestions? I have tried the geek squad and gotten nowhere.

Go to START/MSCONFIG and disable all startup  programs (under the STARTUP tab) except your anti-virus. This is a possible error occuring from a memory leak in a background program, so this might assist. Please post results or any action you've taken in testing/resolving.

  • Mail Icon won't disappear

My Blackberry Tour has been displaying the mail icon for the past few days, but I have no new mail.  How do I get this to go away?

    Hello,
    You can try this:
    Homescreen > Messages > > Search
Set as follows (may vary depending on your device OS level):
    Search Type: Local
    Name In: Any Address Field
    Subject Message: <leave blank>
    Include Encrypted Messages: Yes
    Service: All Services
    Folder: All Folders
    Show: Unopened Only
    Type: All
That should return to you all unopened messages from all message conduits.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Clustered listener gets nothing back from APEX after upgrade to 4.1.1

    Hi,
I'm not sure if that subject is entirely accurate, but that appears to be the effect we are experiencing. We have had an SR open for this since April and seem to have the engineers stumped. Maybe someone on here has some insight that may help...
    Environment: Seven APEX instances
APEX 4.1.1 (problem started after upgrading from 4.0.x) running on an 11g RAC.
Listener version 1.1.3.243.11.40 running on WebLogic 10.3.2.0
Listeners are in 2x clusters on two different WebLogic domains spread over 4 different servers.
    Problem:
In two of the apex instances, a couple of days after upgrading to 4.1.1, the listeners starting returning blank, empty pages to the browser. We went through all the usual debugging steps (/i/ directory, connectivity, etc) and nothing fixed the problem. Finally the only thing that fixes the problem is to shut down one of the two clustered WL managed servers running the listeners, reducing the listener to a single instance per APEX instance. Like clockwork, if the second managed server is brought back up, within minutes-to-hours, the listener starts returning blank pages to the browser. Just a couple of days ago, a third apex instance and its listeners has started to manifest the problem and had to be half shut down. We are beginning to think there is a bug in APEX 4.1.1 that deadlocks the listener (or something) when it is clustered...
    Other data points:
The listenerAdmin and listenerStatus pages continue to work and report perfect health for all listeners involved.
The APEX management console (p=4550:1) is also affected by the problem, not just apps.
We ran the "apex_verify" script on all problem instances with no errors.
We have hard rebooted all affected servers, with no change in the problem.
This identical environment was running perfectly stable, clustered for many months on APEX 4.0 (and before).
The only thing that keeps our APEX apps running is to run the listeners single instance (un-clustered).
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide on this very annoying problem!
    Brian

So it's somewhere within your WLS setup.Mmm... I won't discount anything, but I doubt it. If that were the case, how could this exact environment have managed to work flawlessly for the past 3 years on these clusters, the listener being upgraded several times through several versions of apex? Only directly after we upgraded apex (not the listener) to 4.1.1 did our troubles start. My suspicion is that there is a bug or a change in 4.1.1 (or maybe 4.1 as we applied 4.1.1 right after 4.1) that has manifested this problem for us.

They definitely are not being used equally, but none of them are being slammed. Usage is fairly light in all cases.... which sounds like if there is some kind of load balancing algorithm different from round robin in your scenario.Ahh, I misinterpreted your question. You were asking if the load is balanced fairly between nodes on the same cluster. I took you to be asking if our separate, unrelated apex instances get the same use. So, the answer then is "yes" hits to a single listener WLS cluster do appear to be getting assigned equally to the different nodes, and the clusters are installed as per the documentation with round-robin scheduling.
####<Jun 11, 2012 11:07:31 AM EDT> <Warning> <Socket> <hostname> <server-name> <ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.socket.Muxer'> <<WLS Kernel>> <1339427251735> <BEA-000450> <Socket 5 internal data record unavailable (probable closure due idle timeout), event received 17>That could probably have a lot of reasons, but none of them is specific to APEX Listener. Google gives a lot of hits ranging from memory issues to missing classes, and ... duplicate configuration parameters, e.g. app names, jdbc pool names, etc.... and of course, I'm not convinced that this has much to do with the problem at hand. It just happened to be in the log at around the time that someone noticed the problem happening in one case.
Could it be your APEX Listener is deployed multiple times on the same node using the same name?Good thought, but definitely no. We figured out that issue a couple of years ago, back when you had to hack the listener WAR file to make it use a non-temporary config.
Lastly, I just want to thank you again Udo for patiently digging into this. We now have three SR's open with Oracle on this (RAC team, APEX team, and WebLogic team) and we have gotten nowhere yet with any of them...

  • Back ground jobs after upgradation

    Hi Experts
Can you please clarify whether the back ground jobs and the time schedules of the back ground jobs will be copied after upgrade from 4.6b system to ECC.60 or do we need to configure and schedule the back ground jobs through sm37 after upgrade?
Please post as soon as possible.
    Thanks & Regards
    Roja

I think it depends on the server that is copied in the Upgraded Box. If you copy the data from Production, the jobs should be intact.
If you copied Production data, then compare the scheduled jobs in both environments.
    If helps, pl do reward
    Thanks

  • IMessage and FaceTime won't accept my Apple ID after upgrading to Mountain Lion

iMessage and FaceTime won't accept my Apple ID in order to activate after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro.
My Apple ID works to sign in to the App store as well as on my iphone and iPad.
What do I need to do?

This Apple doc might help ya out -> iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    Troubleshooting Apple ID activation
After each step, toggle  iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection. Check your Wi-Fi network using standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.
If you receive an error when signing in to your Apple ID, visit myinfo.apple.com, sign in to your account, and ensure that the primary email address has been verified.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically  is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Enable  iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location.

Two obvious troubleshooting techniques are to delete and re-install the printer driver (or updating printer driver) and fixing the installation of Acrobat. Have you given those a try?

  • [Solved] Openbox fails to exit back to prompt after upgrade

I don't use any login manager so I simply boot to a console and start openbox manually via xinit.
However, after upgrade OpenBox fails to exit back to the login console. Anyone experiencing the same? Any idea on how to fix it?
Several programs got updated recently, xinit, openbox,... so I don't know what exactly is causing the problem...
I also have xmonad but that still works fine. So if I have to guess it's openbox's (3.5.0) issue.

Hm, here's a backtrace after running openbox --exit:

So openbox is calling XCloseDisplay() but it never returns because Pango is stuck trying to clean up?!
Edit: Others noticed it too: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=802086#c6
Edit 2: Are there any programmers here? Does this look OK to you? close_display_cb() gets called when the X connection is closed, and it calls pango_xft_shutdown_display() while holding a lock on fontmaps. Then pango_xft_shutdown_display() immediately calls pango_xft_find_font_map(), which also tries to acquire a lock on the already locked fontmaps. Bang!
