HELP!!!! Mail not sending nor receiving...Security Update broke it?

So i had a perfectly working set-up for mail and calendar on Mac OS X 10.6.3, but this weekend it stopped working. Mail is not getting in nor out of my system. I can not even send mail to myself. When I look into the logs i see the following errors..

It is NOT grey listing as i have long since fixed that. Any help out there? I have NO email right now, so this is a MAJOR issue. We installed the security update over the weekend. I am pointing toward that as the issue?

Ok I have fixed the ability to send. The console said that root wasn't owner of "amavisd.conf" .. i used the sudo chown.. and now I can send to external addresses & internal addresses and receive internal to my network. Mail is still not coming in from EXTERNAL addresses. help?

Mail will not send emails after security update

Hello,
I am having trouble now sending email - like many others aparently. I receive a message when trying to send mail:
- a dialog box requests the authentication password for the smtp server
When entering the correct password it simply repeats. I have had no trouble up to this point. I can log into both accounts via the web using the correct password.
I am having this problem
- on a BT Internet account,
- and my Yahoo account as well,
both of which I use on Mail for business.
Please help?!

Question answered in another string - British Telecom changed outgoing servers for me and things seem to be working again - fault is a mystery though. Sorry I cannot help others in this strange situation.

Mail not happy after latest security updates....

Starting yesterday (20th), Mail will boot, but crashes withing 5-6 seconds of checking the mail server(s). Up until yesterday, it was fine. If I boot Mail, and quickly take the mailboxes offline, it will remain open so I can navigate normally within Mail. As soon as I go online with all/any mailboxes, it only stays operational for 5-6 seconds before it crash/closes.
I see I'm not the only one here with this issue, but I did have success with taking the mailboxes offline as quickly as I could.
Any help would be great.

Mini Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Same problem here. Since last night my 1.5Gz G4 PB on 10.3.9 and my 2.1 G5 imac on 10.4.8 are doing the same thing. Mail crashes after about 5 sec. while it begins to index messages.
I tried your suggestion, David and went offline which allowed me to navigate within the messages. Took junk filtering off. Went back online and poof Mail has crashed again!
I have repaired permissions, installed software updates and have now run ClamX to scan and quarantine suspected virus bearing messages, but Mail is still crashing. Very strange for both machines to be doing the same thing.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Mail not sending or receiving emails

my mail refuses to receive or send any emails,it just stopped working all of a sudden

It's possible you need to login and change your passwords. The recent Heartbleed bug has required many users to change their passwords. Regardless it's a good idea to change your passswords at least once a year for security.
Open the Connection Doctor under Window when Mail is active.
You should see green lights to show accounts are connected.
You will see two entires for most accounts. One for sending (SMTP) and the other for receiving. iCloud accounts only show up as one entry.
If you see a red light you can select to Show Details button to find why you are having problems connecting.
Receiving is set in the main window for the account. Change your password then click out of the account to save.
Sending password is set in Edit SMTP. Select the account from the list. Under Advanced, add the password.
Note, sometimes you will find extra SMTP settings listed. Deleting an account does delete the SMTP settings. You can delete these.

IMessage on Mac is not sending nor receiving iMessages.

When I try to send a message from iMessageon my Mac I keep getting a red exclamation mark and a failed to send. I also am not receiving any iMessages to my Mac. I have signed out and signed back on with my apple ID on both my iPhone and Mac multiple times, reset my network settings, as well as restarted all devices and nothing has worked. I am getting pop ups that say that iMessage is now signed in on my phone and Mac from this apple ID but fails to sync between the two devices. This all began after the first iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite update and I have not been able to fix since then. I would rather not have to reset all my devices so I am looking for any other solutions. I also noticed that when I try to send a message to my apple ID from my phone it turns up green as a regular SMS rather than blue for aniMessage. Perhaps this is part of the problem?

Back up all data.
Quit Messages if it’s running. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it and test after each of the following steps. If the problem isn't resolved, quit again and go on to the next step.
Step 1
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
From the menu bar, select
          Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select
           My Certificates
Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them is marked with a red "X" as expired or invalid, delete it. Also delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name, whether valid or not.
Now select
            Passwords
in the Category list. Enter "ids" (without the quotes) in the search box in the toolbar of the window. Delete all items of type "application password" that have a name beginning in any of the following ways:
            ids:
            IDS:
            com.apple.ids:
Quit Keychain Access. Log out and log back in.
Step 2
Hold down the option key and select
          Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
          Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd
          Caches/com.apple.Messages
          Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
          Containers/com.apple.iChat
          Containers/com.apple.soagent
          IdentityServices
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in.
Step 3
Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
          Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place.
Step 4
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
          com.apple.iChat
          com.apple.ids
          com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
          com.apple.imessage
          com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post your results.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of Steps 3 and 4, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

MAIL not sending or receiving

I am having problems with mail. Until around midnight everything worked fine. I noticed that I did not receive any mail during the day and enquired to my service provider. Between us we have checked all the account details and they confirmed that everything was correct. They checked and found that there were 6 e-mails in my in box. I then logged in online and retrieved them using the usual passwords and settings. Can anyone help please?

A couple of questions first:
1) Have you changed locations with your laptop?
2) Have you tried just re-starting.*
*I'm having a similar problem, but just restart and everything starts working fine.

I have posted some questions on these forums and you guys have always been able to help me. So here goes. My wife and I have separate profiles on our iMac and we seem to have different issues. On both our profile, especially l, quite often we get a window pop up and say that the pop server has rejected my password. I enter the correct password and it rejects it again and again. I hit cancel and the message disappears and I seem to get my messages. My wife however seems to be losing mail. Both incoming and outgoing. I'm not sure where to start in attempting to fix this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank in advance!

Hi , my suggestion would be to backup your email and export your contacts and just remove and recreate the accounts in the email application. If your using Mail or Entourage this is easy enough to do , if your still having issues after recreating the accounts i would speak to your email provider.

Ios7 text messaging not sending, Nor Receiving

Since i've updated to the new ios7 my texts and picture text are not being reciveved by others who dont have a iphone, nor am I recieving their texts. Is anyone else having this issue? Couple of them have Veizon.

just as the title says. every phone on my plan is unable to make/recieve any and all calls or texts. data is also unsuable so only wifi works. 2 hours ago everything worked fine and now nothing. i have my bill completely paid and im only halfway through my billing cycle. any ideas?

Is this on wifi or cellular data?
Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Have you gone into the email settings and making sure the password are still there?

The amount of RAM is not dependant on the operating system. It is all about the model of you Mac.
10.6.8 is the version of OS X that is installed on your system. It has no real baring on the amount of RAM that CAN be installed.
Personally I have never had good luck with Corsair RAM. I have always had good luck with Crucial and Kingston.

TS2755 Since updating my iphone to ios7 my phone will not send or receive imessages. Please help?

Can anyone help? Since updating my iphone to the latest ios7 my phone will not send or receive imessages and is now very slow.

Go to Settings>Messages> turn iMessage off. The go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. Do a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, go back into Settings>Messages and turn on iMessage. See if it activates.
Apple has acknowldged an issue with iMessage and is working on an update. Look for that to be released sometime this week.

Can not send or receive "Mail"

I've recently had a problem with "Mail" sending. After trying to research help on line, I gave up and reformatted with Leopard 10.5, with no success. So I topped that off with updating to "Snow Leopard" 10.6.8 now I can not do either receive nor send.
