Help -- Major Troubles!

Hi,
I downloaded the latest version of iTunes this past weekend, and all **** broke loose with my system.
My iPod is no longer recognized by my computer, and the iPod seems to be empty of songs, though they are all still in my library on the computer.
I tried downloading the newest version again, to no avail. I've tried resetting the iPod, no change. When I try to repair, the program won't recognize that the iPod is there.
Can anyone help?
Can I uninstall iTunes off of my computer and reinstall it without losing all the music that I've loaded in? I've got over 3,000 songs, I really don't want to have to reload all the CDs in again!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Everything was fine until I installed the latest update of iTunes.

Is there a way to reset the open firmware password without knowing the original? That doesn't sound very secure so my guess is there is not.
If the iBook has any additional RAM in the RAM expansion slot, you could try removing that.
Would that password lock disable the ability to boot from a cd or reset the pram though?

Major trouble: hard drive disappeared

Hi to all.
A friend of mine is facing a major trouble.
He has an iMac and an old LaCie firewire400 external box with a PATA Seagate 200GB drive inside.
While it was transferring into the iMac a bunch of files it had a message that was impossible to transfer a file then he clicked cancel and fired up disk utility that said it wasn't able to repair the drive.
After that he made a reboot.
At this point the drive wasn't seen anymore by disk utility nor by DataRescue 3.1 and he decided to take a part the FW box and he connected the drive into another FW400 box with the same result.
Same story with another USB 2.0 external case.
Then he tried to connect the drive as a slave to the ide channel of an old PowerMac with the result that the PowerMac, with the drive connected, remained stuck on a gray screen.
As a final tentative to help my friend i connected the drive to the ide channel of my Asus-based PC with MacDrive running:
after the longer boot time i've ever seen it showed the drive and it was possible to view the folder structure and the files inside with the probably correct dimensions but with file types completely screwed up.
I tought that if we find a way to make the drive visible for Data Rescue or others recovery utilities running on the iMac we can try to recover something.
Any help will be deeply appreciated.

*_PROBLEM SOLVED: MAC OS IS THE GUILTY_*
I was very happy to solve my friend's big issue but i'm very sad because i'm an old Apple user and fan.
Resuming the story:
- An external USB 2.0 320GB (see here below the specifics) HFS+ formatted drive with around 100GB of Mac files backupped inside, was connected to a new iMac.
- Started the copy it gave a message of problems in one or more files
- Canceled operation
- Started disk utility it say something like major problems were found and it unmounted the drive
- From that point the drive wasn't seen anymore by the iMac
- Tried 2 different FW400 cases and another 1 USB 2.0 case
- Tried a direct connection to the IDE bus on an old Powermac
- Tried Diskutility, DataRescue 3.1, TechtoolPro etc., the drive is completely invisible for Mac Os
- Tried to connect to the IDE bus on a PC (XP pro SP3) with Macdrive 7 installed
- The drive WAS seen but with file types messed up
- Installed Macdrive 8 on the PC: the drive WAS seen and the file types seemed CORRECT
- ALL FILES AND DOCUMENTS were successfully copied on another drive and now we verified that ALL files ARE WORKING PERFECTLY.
As you can see beyond the Seagate utility stated that the drive is HEALTHY with no problem on its hardware.
The Mac Os still DOESN'T see this drive.
I will be very happy if some Apple Guru can explain me something about this story, that, to cut a long story short, teached me that a PC fully recovered issues created by a Mac.

Major trouble uploading to ftp site...won't recognize username and password even though I can get on Filezilla with it just fine....HELP!

Major trouble with WRT54G. Help please?

I was trying to open my NAT for better connection with my friends over Xbox Live, so I went to the Live Chat for help with this and I got it open. Maybe a month later it says my NAT is at "Moderate" settings again so I asked what could be the problem and the person I was in chat with suggested I upgrade the routers firmware and then try to open the NAT so I upgraded and then did everything that I was told to do to open it again and now I cant even get on the internet with it. Every page or URL I type in redirects me to my ISP's "hotspot" page. Can anyone help me???

Home Sharing and Airplay: fall 2011 major trouble in iTunes to APTV, IOS devices - detailed run-through.

Dear all, and dear Apple - as you know flagged trouble regarding Home Sharing to devices and to APTV has grown exponentially this fall and it is high time Apple calmly regained control over the situation. Get a grip, this is a fundamental "it just works" reputational issue.
Having read lots of community posts I am struck by how many crosschecks I have done and still cannot get Home Sharing to ´just work´ anymore.
Symptoms of my troubles include:
(1) In iTunes the Home Sharing house icon is nowhere to be found on the left hand side even though I have turned it on several times.
(2) Airplay icon was visible in the lower right corner of iTunes for about two minutes last night but then vanishes.
(3) My iPhone4S cannot find my shared library (under "More" or anywhere else).
(4) And APTV will occationally load my Mac library to play a purchased tv episode but is highly unstable. 1 in 4 attempts succesful.
Ah, you say, "this all sounds like your home network is either faulty or the signal is not strong enough", or "you have not set up Home Sharing right".
OK, let´s see...
The Airport Extreme station is right next to APTV, and is itself connected via ethernet to my router - and besindes my Mac can still find a strong signal via wifi. I access internet on my wifi-only iPad2 easily throughout the house, nice and strong signal. The APTV menu tells me the signal strength is excellent, and, most importantly - it worked a couple of weeks ago with no change in settings. I played my iTunes Library on my iPhone via Home Sharing, and I watched APTV TV episodes streamed from my Mac upstairs.
So far I have triple-checked the following settings:
Home Sharing on my Mac turned on under Advanced? yes. (House icon appears - until I press the "Done" button, then it vanishes).
Even though the House icon is nowhere to be found, is Home Sharing still "On" under iTunes Advanced setting? yes.
Under Preferences, Sharing, all ticks are carefully turned on? yes.
APTV Home Sharing: the same ID details, correctly entered? yes. And for a little while, or on occation we have access to my library on APTV (but not the other mobile devices). Then it vanishes again (Computer menu on APTV telling me to turn on Home Sharing with ID etc.)
Mobile devices, under Settings/Music, are the Home Sharing details the same as those on your Mac/iTunes? yes.
All software on APTV, iTunes, OIS and Lion up to date? yes, as of 18/12 2011. For iTunes I have 10.5.2 (11)
I also reset Factory Settings on my APTV, which enabled us to watch a TV episode last night, but this morning it is gone again.
Within limits of how many devices I can share my library or iTunes with ? yes, 2 computers are authorised on my ID, and 3 devices are authorised on iCloud (iPad2, iPhone 4S and this Mac).
Have you tried the degrading, not-up-to-Apple-standard way of unplugging APTV/Airport Extreme/Mac power, and restarting your iPad/iPhone4S? Yes.
Does Airplay work from devices to e.g. APTV? yes it does.
Can I access the internet or rent a movie on APTV? yes.
Is this a strength issue with my Mac? Is my Mac fast/strong enough? Yes; it is a 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, running 8GB/1067 MHz/DDR3. 100GB of available harddrive space.
Dear community - what have I forgotten to do, please? Any ideas?
And Apple: please help your repeat customers with these issues - clearly there are some room for improvement here!?

I seem to have a similar problem. I have a Macbook and a PC, both running the current version of iTunes. On the APTV (also running the current software version), only my Macbook library shows up under "computers". Home Sharing is turned on for both and my Macbook library shows up under "Shared" on the PC, but the PC iTunes library doesn't show up on the Macbook or the APTV.
My question then is: How is it that my Macbook iTunes library can show up on the PC and on the APTV, but the PC iTunes library doesn't show up on either? If the PC can see the shared libraries, doesn't that mean it's on the same network? Along those same lines, "Shared" libraries do NOT show up on the Macbook. Again I ask, how is it that I can see the Macbook library on the PC, but the Macbook doesn't show any Shared libraries?
All of this worked just fine before the upgrade to iOS 5 by the way. I had no issues seeing any library on any devices and the APTV found both computers.
Please help. This is really annoying!

Can anyone help - battery trouble!

Hey I was wondering if anyone can help me. My ipod is 2 years old now and even from the start the battery life has never been that good. having recently having to reset the whole thing i have had even more trouble with the batter life. I plug it into the wall then it says it is fully charged after a couple of minutes (it used to take hours before) and then now after charging in such a short time says the battery is full and im getting enough power for only three songs. can i reset the battery or do something else to help!?

PLEASE HELP! Trouble importing media used in Premiere CS6 into CC

After infinitely trouble with stability in OSX Premiere CS6, I´ve tried to open my project in CC. I get a dialogue box when importing media with heading "Cannot Link Media" and saying "The selcted file cannot be linked because it has 2 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 1 audio channel(s). Now, these clips had no issues in CS6, but after installing CC, I cannot open anything in CS6 and CC won´t, as stated, accept my clips. Now, I tried to uninstall CS6 to late reinstall it. But Adobe seems to have removed the installer, anyway I can´t find it. SERIOUSLY!. This is EXTREMELY frustrating. PLEASE HELP!

I don't have any sure-fire solutions, but I do have a suggestion: rather than opening the whole CS6 project and going through the whole conversion process, try importing just the sequence(s) from the CS6 project into a new CC project. There are a couple of ways to do so: 1) File>Import, select "Import Selected Sequences," then pick the desired ones, or 2) drill down to the project in Media Browser, which will show you it's contents, then drag and drop the sequence(s) into the Project panel.
I found a few bug reports in the same neighborhood. They were all fixed in the release you're using. But each was specific to a particular file type, so you may have hit on a case that we didn't exercise. It could really help us nail this down if you provided one small clip that CC is balking at and, ideally, a CS6 project containing that clip.

TS3999 Help! Trouble with my calendar and icloud.

I am having trouble with my calendar and icloud.
Customers send me meeting invites and I can accept them no problem. But if they subsequently change the date or time I get an error message:
Access to “appointment name” in “Home” in account “iCloud” is not permitted.
The server responded:
“403”
to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation
sometimes the time changes in my calendar, sometimes it doesn't, and my customers keep getting messages back from icloud 'accepting' the original date, not the changed date!!
It is driving me an my clients crazy! any help would be appreciated.

I had a problem specific to the Calendar on web-based Firefox (PC) Was asked for a separate sign-in I'd never seen before which didn't work. I resolved this by signing out, signing in again.

Help ! trouble with formating

HI Everyone. I just finished my first project and thought I was on my way to meeting a deadline. I've encoded and now I'm having trouble formating. On the format button, the destination doesn't give me the 'standard dvd' option. Instead I get .img, DDP2.00, CMF 1.00 or DDP2.10. And on the output device it won't let me choose my external burner-only 'hard drive'. I did make one successful dvd last night-but since re-encoded and don't know why I'm having trouble now. Possibly an error in encoding? Could someone please help. Thanks

I'm no DSP guru but I suggest to format using .img then burning that image file through Toast or something.

Please Help! Trouble sending email from Apple Mail to PC-users

When sending email in RTF format from Mail to PCs, we have som trouble which I havent found out how to solve:
1) the PC user gets a scrambler email, in which some of the text is like "chinese". Illegible! This seems to happen especialle with PDFs attached.
2) Graphics or pictures we wish to appear directly in the mail is not visible to the receiver, but is only included as attachments.
I know most mail encoding problems can be avoided if we send mail i the "old" simple text format. But we wish to send mails in which our company logo appears in the signature, and sometimes we send graphics and pictures that we wish to be seen directly in the mail (and not as attached files only).
I have set the preferences so that mails as standard are send in RTF format and attachments are send in the "windows friendly" mode.
What really irritates me is that we have more success sending PC friendly mails from Entourage. But for two other reasons we wish to use Mail instead of Enrourage (Entourage has more crash downs/"broken" database issues. And we use Plaxo which does not sync with Entourage)..
Could some of you Please help or direct me to helpfull info?

Your OS detail provided indicates you are running 10.3.9 but you posted in the Mail & Address Book - Tiger discussions.
1) When you say PC user, more than likely the PC users reporting this problem are using Outlook for their email client since Outlook has always had problems with Mail's RTF and sometimes severe problems depending on the version used by the recipient. Using Plain Text for message composition will resolve this but check this link for an alternative.

2) All Mail.app versions prior to Tiger Mail (2.x) do not support composing in HTML. RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML but Tiger Mail does not include an HTML composer/editor.
The Mail.app displays all photo/image and single page PDF attachments inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default which cannot be turned off. This is not the same as being embedded which cannot be done with any Mail.app version directly regardless. Depending on the recipient's email client and available settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened by the recipient (as when receiving such attachments with the Mail.app) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which the sender has no control over.
The same in reverse. Photo/image attachments to a Windows Outlook message appear as attached files only when the message is sent but when sent to a Mail.app user, such attachments will appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened which the Windows Outlook user has no control over.
The company logo included with your Signature is likely appearing as an attached file to the message only but how the logo appears when opened by the recipient depends on the recipient's email client.
The only thing the Windows Friendly Attachment option does is remove the Apple resource fork for attached files which are invisible to fellow Mac users.

ITunes HELP! Troubles downloading iOS firmware

Hello everyone
Today i decided to restore my iPod touch 5th generation, which was in DFU. While i was downloading the iPod firmware (1.3GB) suddenly the wifi stopped and itunes said that there was an error and so restarted the download from the beginning.
The problem is that i cannot find out where the file wich I was downloading at the beginning is, considering that i was almost at the end of the download and Idon't want to have more that 1GB corrupted fiel on my hard disk.
Can anyone tell me how to find out where it is and delete it?

msvcrt.dll is a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library, julien.
Although there are several different copies and versions of msvcrt.dll on any given machine (for example, on my Lenovo, I've got 16 of them), probably the most likely one with a version 7.0.2600.5512 to be causing you trouble is an operating system file.
So, if it's damaged, an sfc /scannow may be of assistance. It's user-unfriendly on XP, but the following document may be of some help with the common pitfalls:

Trouble with <property name="jnlp.versionEnabled" value="true"/> and file: protocol.
I can't get the versionEnabled flag to work with local file system URL's.

The short answer is that e4x XML rocks!
Beyond that, consider that you are sending xml to Flex. For
any format other than e4x, Flex has to convert the xml into that
format. The precise algorithms Flex uses for this are not obvious
or published. This is why I have never liked using mx:Model. It
converts the xml into nested objects, but i have never been
comfortable predicting exactly what the resulting structure will
be.
Once you get an e4x xml node identified (toXMLString()), you
CAN predict exactly whate the data you want is going to be because
there is no conversion. And I and just very comfortable with xml.

Help! Trouble installing CS3 Design Premium

I have trouble installing CS3 Design Premium. I am using Windows XP. I had to deinstall CS3 after my PC had a little crash. Now I want to install CS3 again. But at the beginning there comes an error message "Setup is already running. You can install only ONE adobe product at the same time. Shut the other installation before starting the installation of CS3."
The point is, there is NO OTHER installation running at the moment - so far as I know.
I tried already the following, but there was the same error message:
- to start the installation by another user
- to start it from the protected mode.
- to start it by desktop installation.
Please, can anybody help me??

I can't get flashplayer installed on my computer. Even after I tried everything in the installation trouble shooter section and had a professional technician (Geek Squad) assist me.
