HELP McAfee Detected Trojan in Verizon IHA

Ok here goes my story.
I went to use Verizon's IHA (In Home Assistant) the other day when I got a new printer.
When I launched the IHA I received a message that there was a critical security update needed for the IHA.
I said yes of course to the update, boy oh boy was that a mistake.
When I went to launch it after updating the only thing that would happen is:
1 - It shows the screen shot of the IHA program loading
2 - disappears as fast as it appears
Gerrrrrrr....I had a lot of things to do and decided that I would fiddle with IHA and the printer later when I have time.
Fast forward to today, I logged on to check something real quick before I had to run back out.
Figured I would check and see if IHA would launch. Nope same thing it was doing before. GERRRRRR!
Then, McAfee while doing it's realtime or quick scan popped up with this:

Now McAfee has quarantined it.
Now you will see another Artemis quarantine above the IHA one in the picture, that was from a SD card which came out of a droid and has long ago been rectified.
I like being able to use the IHA to troubleshoot my STB's etc, but right now it's not an option at all.
Obviously because McAfee has quarantined it & I'm not sure I want to free it!
So, what can be done about this situation?
Can/should I uninstall/reinstall it?
Is there a non-trojan version?
I'm so frustrated with Verizon, like what did you add to the IHA that McAfee detects it as a Trojan? GEERRRR!
More frustrating is that I actually use the Verizon Security Suite, thought it was an ok price & I didn't have to worry about when it needed to be relicensed!
Ha, maybe I'll go back to purchasing my own security software, where I can have the control I've come accustomed to using. Set my own rules and regs and not worry about such **bleep**. Not to mention it would probably be cheaper in the long run. Maybe I'll go back to Cox Cable where their security suite is free, built into the price no doubt, but the customer does not see it!
Now add to this story, I have a Degree in Computer & Networking and this is so not cool Verizon, I'm seriously PO'd.
Sorry, but I needed to vent off some steam.
So I'm taking responses as to what & where to go next, Thanks in advance!

Ok here is my Latest Update.
I used the McAfee GetSusp product which was finally able to upload the suspicious Verizon IHA File(s). The files are of "Unknown Type" So, the files will be forwarded for further analysis. I will post back when they get back to me.

    ...if you're running Mountain Lion. I'm in clamshell mode right now, so I don't have any mirroring options. AFAIK, there's no more "Show displays in menu bar" in Mountain Lion.

    You need to refresh the page (F5) to update the items in the download menu. Apparently YouTube refreshes the page in such a way that the extension doesn't gets notified, so you need to refresh the page manually if you want to download a media file from this page.

    Hello all, new to the site and am looking forward to both the information offered and whatever way I can contribute...
    I have a Verizon (not active) 8830 World Edition that have been unused now for 2+ years as we had moved to Scotland, UK for educational reasons and have since used Orange and the Blackberry's they offer.
    My wife is going back to the states and we'd like to use this Blackberry with a Simm card bought to use for both local calls whilst she is there and calls back to me in the UK. We previously bought a card to put in the phone but it did not work and when going through the cards support they informed us we needed to call Verizon.
    As before mentioned the 8830 World Edition is NOT registered with a carrier/Verizon anymore.  Called Verizon  at 888 844 0395 and they told me that I HAVE TO HAVE my phone connected with a Verizon Plan and that is the only way it will work (proprietary).
    The phone IS unlocked as we initially used it once we moved to the UK but now we want to use it back in the US to call home here in the UK with a US Simm card...
    Seems a shame if we can't and I'm sure there is a solution out there if anyone with the know how is reading... any help out way is greatly appreciated...

    That is also correct... it is usable OUTSIDE of the USA on GSM networks, but NOT in the USA on ATT or Tmobile. Only Verizon in the USA.

  • NO HELP WITH ROUTING ISSUES FROM VERIZON

    Spend 2 hours with technical support to no avail. Have routing issues where I can’t get from my FIOS residential account to remote web site abroad. Trace route fails at so-0-0-0.XT1.AMS2.ALTER.NET [146.188.14.209]. FIOS technical support is incapable of doing any troubleshooting beyond basic customer premises equipment, refusing to escalate the case to network engineering team. I was basically told by FIOS tech support supervisor {edited for privacy} that this is not Verizon’s problem and no help will be provided. What is even more frustrating that Verizon agents are not capable of receiving emails from customers with details such as trace route.
    Is there anyone at Verizon monitoring this and able to help? Just in case, ticket number that I have with Verizon is {edited for privacy}

    BT help aren't always that helpful, but BT engineers claim that it is a BT sales issue and nothing to do with them seems a bit extreme.
    Are you sure your daily speed is 8Mbits, not 8Mbytes?  How are you measuring this?  Is it the number coming from the BT speedtest?
    If it really is 8Mb, then I think it's worth checking with the mods;  at: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 .  But be aware they take 3 working days to reply: sometimes more if busy.

    i runed an Virustest today because i got some Issues with the  webcam (It got enabled when i plugged in the AC-Adaptor of my Notebook until i started Cheese).
    After all Kaspersky deteced an Trojan ArcBomb in the "/usr/lib/python2.7/test/testbz2_bigmem.bz2" archive and espacially in the Pacman cached File "python2-2.7.4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz//python2-2.7.4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar" Maybe it is a fail detection or not.

    How exactly did you test for malware?  I'm not too sure myself, but it looks like the archive in question is tied to a python script in the python2 package used to perform memory tests, using blocks of "empty" data of varying sizes.  If that's the case, then it might function similarly to an arcbomb, but technically wouldn't be one.  From what I've seen, it's a legitimate part of the python2 package, but I'm no expert.

    So you have connected the 12 Pin Header from the Router to the Computer? Make sure the 12Pin header connection specific are as same as of the WRT54GX v2... I think the Pin specification are different thats the reason when you connect the connecter to the computer your computer is unable to recognize the Router..

    I recently purchased a device from verizon and tried to register for my verizon on my phone and online .I entered the wrong code too many times and it locked me out before I could finish registering . I called customer support and after waiting for 45 minutes and talking to someone .They told me they could not unlock my account because I was not registered yet . Well no. I am not registered yet. Because it will not let me .I AM LOCKED OUT . They then transferred me to technical support and after waiting for another fifteen minutes I hung up .This is ridiculous if I cannot utilize the programs on my phone or access account info online I am missing out on features I want and need .I was in the process of buying phones for two other family members before this happened and now we might just go back to straight talk .Can someone please help ?     I've built a couple of computers before, but this is my first with SATA.
    I've assembled it togehter and booted it, but when WinXP Home is running its install-procedure it doesn't detect any HDD's..
    I'd like the Raptor to be my Windows-only disk, and the Caviar to everything else. How do I get WinXP install to detect the drives? How do I configure the BIOS correct (BTW: I also get the message NO BIOS INSTALLED or simular on every boot)

    The problem was (I think) that I had the drives connected to one set of SATA-plugs on the mainboard, and the oposite settings in BIOS. When going through the BIOS and set wiring on the mainboard one more time, I discoverd the error.
    Booted again, and it worked.
    The windows setting regarding loading drivers from the floppy was never the problem, but when windows had done that it still did'nt find the drives.
    anyways ... problem solved - case closed.
    Call me a newbie if you want, but it was very late here in Norway (01:30 am I think) and I was very tired - and did'nt see the problem right away. :-)
    Glad that a forum like this was at hand.

    In short.. You can't. The iphone 3 is a GSM phone and does not have a CDMA 'bit'. Verizon is a CDMA carrier.
    You will need to buy a phone specifically for Verizon as they don't usually let you bring your own device for them.

    I need help with synchronizing my wireless internet to my ipad 3.  I use verizon as my carrier, they tell me the towers are OK and I get Veizon LTE on my ipad upper left- corner with full bars, however, have a very difficult time getting internet searches . Works find with wifi.  I tried subscriber reset, hard reset without success.

    Download one of the many speedtest apps and measure your speed with your LTE connection.

  • Verizon IHA message - Thanks for using 100% resources even after uninstall

    Hi,
     If any of you were foollish enough to allow  Verizon to install the In home agent on your computer, I suggest deleting it before it starts to use up 100% of your resources and slows your computer worse then the worst virus or worm. Once I found it was the resource hog I deleted it only to find it leaves behind half a dozen or more registry settings and still uses up the resources. Now I will have to kill another hours running some registry editor to completely delete a program that is of no value to me in the first place.

    Sorry to bump this.  I found it after searching IHA Message Center.  I had already uninstalled In Home Agent but message center was still running.  What I then did was search "verizon" from the start menu (win7 64). Under files and folders I found "IHA Message center.msi."  Double click that and it will give you a repair or remove otion. Click remove and finish. 
    Worked so far, we'll see what happens after next boot. This is now after we're aware that our government used a court order to force verizon (and others) to record internet usage.  Where is the outrage now?

  • Can You Please Help Me with My Prepaid Verizon Extravert Phone

    I have a Verizon prepaid Extravert phone.  The phone has a opera mini browser built into it.  I can read and respond to emails from Gmail through the phone.  It is just awkward to use the phone to check and respond to email.  My employer is cutting off access to personal email at the office and that is one of the reasons I purchased this Extravert phone and the prepaid plan with email access. 
    I would like to know if I can connect my phone to my laptop and use the Verizon connection and the opera mini browser to read and respond to personal emails while at the office.  I basically just want to use the computer because it is easier to read and type with it.
    If this is possible, can you explain how I can do it.
    Also, on my personal laptop, the Extravert will be recognized for about a minute when I have it connected with a USB cable.  And then the cell phone disapears from my view within My Computer.  Can you explain how I can get this phone recognized by laptop.  Thanks.
