Help me and my music
my computer recently had a virus on it so i had to delete all of my programs, because i deleted the programs my music was deleted. since i did not want to lose the music on my mini i now manually transfer the music, it was working great until about a month ago. now when i connect my ipod a window pops up that says that the file is corrupt or unreadable and that i need to run a chkdsk utility. it now will not let me manually transfer my songs. can anyone help?

Last week my computer got a virus, so i contacted dell and they guided me through a total system restore. First of all, I backed up all of my music in my library. Unfortunately, during the transfer some of my files were lost. However, i have all the music on my ipod nano (1st gen.) but i am afraid that if i connect my nano to my computer it will wipe the files on my nano and replace with them with the files in my itunes library. MikeConnect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -

I cant "drag and drop" music onto my ipod anymore can i get help please???

Since i have my ipod i have always dragged and dropped music from my itunes library onto my ipod but now every time i open itunes it tries to sync my whole library onto my ipod which i dont want, but now i cant drag nd drop onto it anymore , and there is a "lock" symbol beside the space that shows how much space is available on my ipod (such as the one that appears when on hold).

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. Not if it isn't in your itunes library. If you sync with a new computer iTunes will delete all iTunes media (such as music) from your phone and replace it with whatever media is in the new iTunes library. Sounds like that's what happened.

I had to have my PC wiped clean and the OS re-loaded. I thought I backed up everything on my iTouch and iPad correctly, but when I try to sync, I'm getting a message that if I continue with the sync, I will lose everything on my device. I'd like to sync and have the content (both iTunes purchased music/apps and uploaded music) override the content on my PC, but am unable to find a way to do that. I have the first gen iTouch that does not support iCloud. Can anyone help?
My question is, can I listen to all the audio that come out from the ipad (movies online, games, Goear…) or only to the music from iTunes library?

Iphone 5 stopped charging and playing music through usb in my 2012 Chevy sonic after iOS 8.1 update. Several friends have same problem. Hard reset didn't help. Help???
Fixed it. It is on Chevrolet's end. Press config to access the configuration settings. Turn menu/tune knob to highlight vehicle settings. Press menu/tune to select the vehicle settings menu. Choose return to factory settings.

Help! I thought I was pretty good setting up slide shows and adding music. I'm trying to make a new slide show from a great trip to New York. I can get theme music but no music at all from iTunes. Checking my older slide shows, which did play music, it's all gone!
Problem seems to have started after updating to Mavericks.
Is there a box I need to check/uncheck?

You are using a version of the newest GarageBand 10.0, and not GarageBand '11 as in your original post. And I was sending you screenshots from GarageBand '11, LOL!
In GarageBand 10.0 is the end-of-song marker hiding behind the zoom controls. Zoom out as far as possible by shifting the zoom scrollbar to the left. Then you should be able to see a corner of the end-of-song marker peeping out behind the zoom control. Try to grab it with the mouse pointer and shift it to the time you want. -
my music on my uphone that i bought through itunes keeps jumping around and i cannot play it since i backed up my phone to icloud. Can anyone help me play my music again without it all jumping around. thanks
Backing up to iCloud should have nothing to do with how your music plays. Try force-closing the misic app: from the home screen, double-tap the home button, locate Music in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again. Try your music again.

I transferred my library to my new computer (old one dead!) and the music transferred to a new library ok, but not my audiobooks. My purchased history doesn't show any purchasing in this format. Can anyone help?
Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so you won't be able to redownload them via the Purchased link. Do you have a copy of them on your iPod or on your backup of your downloads/library ? Purchasing a new HDD, need help a few details concerning iTunes and my music.
Alright, so I am currently using the hard drive that came with my computer when I got it way back when. I'm looking to upgrade ( For storage and performance improvements) and my question is this: What would be the best method to get my OS and files to the new HDD, while preserving the play count for my music as well as making it as smooth as possible with iTunes and my music?
If I've read that correctly, step 4 should be unnecessary because iTunes will know where your music is (the external HD).
Do step 4 if your library hasn't filled up with songs from your external HD by the time you come to step 4, so to speak.
