I can`t open Logic pro 8, after installed finished....
And within the installation I couldn`t find the part where we`re supposed to write the serialnumber.... (after destination seleted)
I´ve tried twice... And still no wiser

are you doing a clean/fresh install of logic or was it an upgrade?
also try to do a software update. that might help

HELP!!!!!!!Can't open mail after install. new keybrd & mouse

After much use, my Apple keyboard & mouse have reached retirement. I ordered a Logitech S530 Laser keyboard and mouse. After installing, I was impressed with the product, though a bit too large for my small hands...if that were the biggest problem, I might be ok. Here's the trouble, while I can launch my Mac Mail and see any new items, I can't open anything that is new or previously viewed. I can open the compose portion and send new mail. I uninstalled the software and hardware, reconnected my old keyboard and mouse and Yes, I did restart...after installation and "uninstallation" and "reinstallation" and now my old stuff won't work either. I've checked and rechecked all Logitech's info, I have the latest software and short of reinstalling Mail, I'm wondering if there is any other solution. I want a wirelesskeyboard/mouse, will opt for Bluetooth if available and want something that is as visually pleasing as my Mac monitor. I thought the Logitech was as close as I could get, is it just not compatible with OS 10.4.8? Help please!!!!!

Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, proceed as follows:
1. Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
2. From the File menu, choose either Open Console Log, or Open System Log, or both, so that Console displays the contents of both system.log and console.log.
3. Try to open a message by double-clicking on it and look at the bottom of the Console windows for messages that might be written there as a result. They may provide some clues.
Do you have any Mail plug-ins or system utilities that could interfere with Mail? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?

/Library/Mail/Bundles/
~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

Can't open Photoshop after installing Yosemite

Hi all, Not sure if this in the right place? I've got a Macbook Pro and have recently just installed the Yosemite operating system. After installing it, I have tried to open Photoshop but it is not allowing me to do so. Photoshop tells me to install Java 6.0 - even though I've already done this twice! Can anyone advise please?

Did you delete Photoshop's preferences before re-installing? If you didn't, then you ended up rightwhere you started after re-installing. Uninstalling and re-installing does not delete the corrupted preference files.
In addition, do not forget what I said:
[…delete Photoshop's preferences before re-installing…] thenUninstall Photoshop, run Adobe CS Cleaner Tool, Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility, install Photoshop from scratch, update it, run Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility AGAIN
Finally, apply all the available updates again, as the re-install wil instal the ancient, original CS5 version.
Have you actually done all of this as already instructed in this thread? If not, then please do not post again until you have done so.

I can not open it after install add ons , reset it and unistall it and re install but the same proplem

i work with firefox long time without any prplems but suddenely i can not open so reset it then install some toll bar and user agent switcher add ons after install them i can not open it at all so reset it but useless then reinstall more than time after delete the profile but the same proplem . knowing i used them(the toolbar and user agent switcher) longtime more than year with firefox without any proplems.what happened?

You need to contact the addon developers to prevent this, Firefox has no responsibility of a addon with a bug.

Can't open mail after installing update with 10.6.8 says my mail is out of date

Please help - new to Macs and I installed automatic update of 10.6.8 - 4 days ago and now I can't open up mail - it says "You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X. You tried to open Mail version 4.5 (1084/1085) in Applications/ Mail.
So I went to Applications, says this message again. So I used my discs that came with the computer adn installed again Applications - no luck.
I had luckily backed up 2 days before this update - so went to Time Machine - did restore - now good still - can't open mail. CLick on Iconand get same messgae .

Most likely because you have Finder's preferences->Advanced->Show all filename extensions unchecked. Check it, log out, and back in and all the apps should display the .app extension.
Now, back to your problem. If you installed the Security Update 2012-004, it failed to update Mail to 4.6; thus, your problem. Manually DL it from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1586 and reinstall it.

Can't open mail after installing yosemite

I just istalled the yosemite on my mac, and now I can't open the mail.
Have tried sever times. Everythings seems good in the beginning and downloads all the messages. But then I get a message that the Upgrade failed and that the index is damadged. It says I can repare it by opening mail again, but the same thing keeps happening.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

Can not open Lightroom after installing 1.4.1 update

After installing the 1.4.1 update (I skipped 1.3 update), Lightroom won't open.

Your old LR icon may point to the old (deleted) file.

Time machine can't open backups after installing Mavericks

When upgrading to Mavericks the installation failed with a disk error. In the shop they formated the disk and re-installed 10.6.8. It appear that there was nothing wrong with the disk anyway.
Of course formatting caused me to loose all data, but I had made a new Timemachine backup before the installation.
Getting the computer back with old OS and empty I called to ask which should be the order of the following:
1. Upgrade to Mavericks
2. Restore my data from Timemachine
Advice was the above so this morning I upgraded successfully to Mavericks. However when I would like restore data (after a few issues making the Mac see the external backup disk) it appears thet Timemachine cannot open the backups older than this morning. It can see then on the right side of the screen, though. Can anyone tell me how to access these backups made under 10.6.8, please.
Another challenge will be that iPhoto does not seem to exist anymore. So if the Timemachine backup gets to work, to where would I restore photos?

Explanation is that Time Machine created a "new" backup when backup disk was first time connected after migration to Mavericks. This backup was obviously empty, i.e. only containing Mavericks but no user data. Consequently Migration assistant would find no data to migrate.
Solution was to go to Backups.backupdb on the external disk (in Finder) and manually delete the backups created after the migration to Mavericks. Now the Migration assistant saw the backup I created just before the initial failed migration to Mavericks and could succesfully migrate all my data.
I guess you should be VERY careful with what you do manually on the backup disk, but I was out of options and the advice from the local shop worked.

Can't open PDF after install

For the last two days I have been trying to open pdf's online. I not very computer savy so it is probably something I am not doing, but I do not know what. I just got a new macbook pro.
Everytime I try to open a PDF online it gives me this disclaimer "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser."
I have gone through the process of downloading and installing Adobe Reader multiple times I get all the way to what looks like the end of the installiation. I am not sure what to do next? I do not understand how to "launch Adobe Reader and accept the end user license argreement." And I don't know if that is my main problem. Please help, thank you

Just open Adobe Reader by itself and accept the EULA.

Can't open app. after install

I'm posting this issue here as I have no other way to figuring this out. The software company that makes this software offers no support for this app. Here's my problem:
The install disk requires that you drag the installer off the disk onto your hard drive.....but when I do I get this:
"Remote system could not be installed because access to the global application support folder was denied"
"try running disc utilities then repair permissions and then reopening Reason"
....so I ran about 5 permissions and still the same thing, I can't figure out why the access to that support folder is denied. I've never seen this before and I'm just stumped.

Nevermind......thanks to a very nice Digidesign support rep. I was able to figure out the problem. It seems that an existing version of Reason Adapted...in this case 2.5, can prevent the newly installed version from accessing the "Propellerheads Software" folder in the library>pplications support folder. Once I deleted that and re-installed 3.0 the new version places a new "Propellerheads Software" folder in the applications support folder and the new version works. Which is good, but only after I installed rewire 2.
The only thing is that I still can't figure out how both can run on the same system as I'm led to beleive from the instructions on the disc...as only one can use that folder. I have 2 songs that are still currently using 2.5 so that's the only reason I care....I'll probably never use 2.5 again except for that.

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Test after each one. Back up all data before making any changes.

I can't open iPhoto after iMovie 10.0.3 update with message:
iPhoto is being updated
iPhoto can not be opened while it is being updated.
But problem is, that nothing idicate there is some iPhoto update.
Please help Apple.

I don't understand why first update has almost 2GB and there is also second update which has around 300MB, so I can see two iMovie updates in App Store - Updates.
