Help me!:audio keeps dropping out and coming back in while importing clips

While importing from my camera (brand new Canon Xl-2) to imovie, the audio from the tape keeps dropping out and coming back in for some reason. This happens with all my tapes. I've tried using a head cleaner and that didn't help. I'm using a Maxtor external hard drive to save the project on. The project itself is kind of big (about 80 GB) Can imovie support projects that large? Could this be a problem with my processor?
I'm just frustrated beyond belief right now. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
these our my specs: Processor: 800 mhz. Memory: 1GB SDRam. The disk space icon at the bottom of imovie says i have 151 GB of disk space left.

Hi e
With a slow computer one has to minimize the hassle.
I would
- repair permissions
- cheque that nothing else is taking resourses from the job (energy saver,
screensaver, File Vault etc.)
- I would move material to my ext hd so that I got > 80Gb free (for a 80Gb
project)
- nothing else connected than my Mac + Camera and import.

  • Hi, my iPad 2 keeps dropping out and going back to blank screen, I then have to enter my password again, start downloading or reading and it happens again. I have reset the iPad but it is still the same.

Hi, my iPad 2 keeps dropping out and going back to a blank screen. I have to again enter my password and go back to what I was doing and then it happens again, I have tried resetting and nothing has changed.
    Thanks
    Ron

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without be charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Eeek! Timeline audio keeps dropping out and I'm on a deadline!

I'm REALLY hoping someone has experience with this issue. I search the forums, and was unable to find anything quite like what I've got.
I've got a 25 minute project in a FCP X timeline. For the most part, it's a simple string-out of ProRes 422 video with AAC audio.
While playing, the audio drops out at random times for random lengths of time (usually around 1 to 8 seconds).  The dropouts do not occur in the same place with any sort of consistency. It happens every few second, and it's making editing impossible.
FCP X is the only running app, and I've killed all the obvious background processes. Rebooting doesn't help either.  I've watched Apple's activity monitor and seen no spikes in CPU or disk usage during the silences.  Based on other audio issues I've read about, I tried coping all the content into a new timeline. That didn't help.
I'm running out of ideas, and more importantly, out of time.  Can anyone suggest a fix?
    Thank you in advance!

Holy crap!  The media is AAC.  How did I miss that?!  I even typed it!!!  I think I must have confused it with AIC (which isn't even an audio codec).  Good lord.
Ok... I'm recompressing some of the footage right now -- just to make sure that's the culprit, which it likely is. I'll report back shortly.
    Thank you, Tom!

  • AirTunes audio keeps dropping out.

I have an Airport Express connected to some speakers and every now and again the audio will simply drop out, it'll come back in a few seconds or not at all. Sometimes iTunes will give an error saying that it can't connect to the speakers and other times it will claim it's connected but no sound will come out of the remote speakers.
Initial I thought that this was caused by interference between different wireless networks in my building so I found out which channels other networks where using, there where no networks using channels 3, 4, and 5 so I configured my network to use channel 4. This was fine for a while but recently I have started having the audio drop outs again. There are no networks using channel 4 that I can see from my apartment so the interference idea is seeming less likely.
Has anyone ran into this problem and no of a solution?

    Hi.
    *Here's what worked for me.*
(sorry this is a double post here and in another topic).
In a nutshell : I *did a factory reset of my Airport Express base station* (saved and restored the Express's profiles) *and everything went back to normal.*
I had a perfectly working setup for about a year and a half (Airport Extreme-monoband as a router with a 5 Ghz only 802.11n network, plus a 802.11n Airport Express in bridge mode, connected to the Extreme via an Ethernet cable, and creating a 2.4Ghz 802.11n/g/b network).
The Extreme/5Ghz network is the fastest. My Macs, iPad and AppleTv are wirelessly (except for the Mac mini which is wired to it) connected to this Extreme/5Ghz network.
My iPhone 4 and iPod (latest) cannot connect to the 5Ghz network and connect to the Airport Express/2.4Ghz slower network.
Everything worked very well, including Airplay in all directions, including video from iTunes, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to my Apple TV, and audio to my sterero system plugged to the Airport Express.
Until 1 week ago : Everything from the iPod touch or iPhone started to fail : video to Apple TV rarely worked, and audio through Airport Express had a lot of drops out.
Internet access speed from the iPod and iPhone was very slow, as confirmed by internet speed testing apps.
Everything going through the Extreme/5Ghz network continued to work flawlessly, including video to Apple TV and audio to Airport Express.
If I connected the Macs or iPad through the Express/2.4Ghz network, problems appeared there too.
Connecting them to the Extreme/5Ghz network had the problems disappeared.
After reading some posts in another discussion, I factory reset the Airport Express using the Aiport Utility (actually first export profiles; then factory reset, then reimport profiles).
Everything is smooth as silk now.
It it starts failing again, I will just factory reset the Airport Express.
Let's just hope that Apple a firmware fix in a not too distant future ...
    Hope this helps,
    Jérôme.

  • AirTunes audio keep dropping out from my AE streaming...

I am using 3AE's for streaming audio from iTunes wirelessly. Been working fine but started dropping audio out intermittently. When it happens, the airtunes control shows no names for thoes AE's dropped out... but I see placeholders. Sometimes never come back and have to restart my iTunes... It's super annoying this happening to me. Is there anyting I can do to address this issue? Anyone?

  • SMB keeps dropping out and slowing down

I have a user in the office that is using windows 7. They are connecting to the server but about 2 or 3 times a day the connection either drops out or the connection to the server becomes very slow and then seems to rectify it's self.
I have captured some logs of around the time it happens may be some one has an idea what could be causing this.
This was a disconnect from the server. Stopping and restarting SMB fixed it.

lynne-pc (192.168.10.213) connect to service ld server initially as user lynnebuchan (uid=1031, gid=20) (pid 68241)
The machine is not bound to the server they are just using standard log on, but the user is an open directory user.
I possibly think it is something to do with smb cache as that seems to be referenced a bit.
    Any ideas.

there is no security rick changing to b/g but if all your devices are 'n' rated then there is no point.  However if they are not then enter 192.168.1.154 into your browser then enter hub manager then wireless where you will be able to make the change to just b/g

  • Optical audio keeps dropping out

    Hi
i have an ATV3 with optical audio to my amp (no HDMI inputs) and HDMI direct to TV.  The audio will work for a few minutes and then drop out - if i leave the TV on (HDMI) it never drops out.  Sometimes it will work for a few seconds, sometimes a few hours but never consistently.  In attempts to fix i have replaced the optical cable, updated software (via mac not WIFI) but still no luck.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks

Also I was able to reload orginal file and there was no audio drop
out. But I need to understand what can cause this issue. But when I
load this file into Power Point
I am also having issues playing the saved file (for view on
computer). The audio drops out after about 20 second, video continues
to play. This did not happen with the orginal file that had the audio

    in Power Point.
If needed I can send you the file.

  • I had to change my sim card due to call drop outs and now i have lost important voice messages. How do i get the messages back?

Please help. I lost very important voicemail when i changed my sim card due to call drop out. How do i get my voicemail back??

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Recently updated iTunes to 11.1.1.11 and now my Disney movies won't play - the audio keeps dropping out. Any help?

Never mind ... cleaned the cache, cleaned the disk, cleaned the Java cache - it works.

I've tried going through those steps prior to posting. This link that others and you have provided takes me to these instructions. There are no specific steps to uninstall and reinstall itunes. I did so anyway a couple times to see if anything changed. It did not. If I'm missing something, please let me know--it's really appreciated. I'm not using windows and it is my understanding that when you delete itunes (which I did through terminal) it deletes everything, so you don't have to go searching for random files as you would with Windows.
Note: This article is for Mac OS X users. If you're using a Windows PC, please refer to these troubleshooting suggestions.
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Install software updates on your Mac.
Note: If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.http://apple.com/itunes/download
Check USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications.
Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    Restart your Mac.
Looks like I'll be making that phone call...

    Hi DV,
Sorry you are having issues. FWIW, I also run a Mac and do not have these issues - however, I am still running OS X 10.8.5 on my personal machine.
First of all, we need a lot more info: FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

i have been getting the wierdest, most ridiculous issues using PP , 2014
You say you are using "PP 2014," however, that is not precise enough. Which version of Premiere Pro CC 2014 are you using? 8.0.1, 8.1, or 8.2? Choose Premiere Pro > About Premiere Pro and look at the bottom of the dialog box. That will give you a precise version number.

    Here is a list:
Indeed, that's quite a list. My first suggestion is that you check out this article and perform the fixes there, if necessary: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later) Are all the permissions set correctly?
The other issue I see a lot is needlessly updating a project file in the middle of a project. The advice here is to avoid updating a project file to a new version of Premiere Pro as you work on it. Update before a new project is created.
Try a test: update to Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (8.2) and create a brand new project. Does it work better now?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • IPod's wifi keeps dropping out and will not locate any networks.

I got a new iPod a few months ago to replace an old one that had a white screen, and it can connect to my internet but after about 5-10 minutes, sometimes less it disconnects and when I try to reconnect it doesn't even pick up my wifi network anymore. If I restart it it reconnects for about a minute then disconnects again. I have tried everything, restoring my ipod completely, restoring the network settings, restarting it, turning it off and on and turning off the wifi then on again, and nothing works, the problem is still there. My internet is not the problem as I have also tried restarting the router and it does nothing, and all the computers in my house work fine with the internet. I've run out of ideas.

II would try with another network. If it also occurs with another network that would indicate a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
If it works OK on another network that points to a problem with your router.
