Help me btabz

so im pretty sure that in order to fix my ipod i just need to restore it ive done all of the other things they recommend that fix most problems. ive completed the step b step directions to restore my ipod including forcing it into disk mode but no matter what i cant get my computer to respond when i plug in my ipod. nothing happens but my ipod still says do not disconnect. how can i get my computer to recognize my ipod so i can complete the restore process that im pretty sure will completely fix my ipod.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
Still no joy, see these.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod.
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
iPod does not appear in iTunes.
Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
Strange iPod behavior.

Someone Got A How To For Adding Video?

The examples cited in the Apple tutorials are for Macs from what I can find... and I see a ton of people posting on this topic and not getting answers... soooooooo...
I have a friend with a new 30GB video iPod...all the updates have been run for iTunes and the device. The video in question is an MP4, and iTunes reports it's in the correct format as it doesn't want to convert it. The video was made with Nero Recode. It's in the iTunes Videos library on the PC in Movies where it should be, but the Video options in the Preferences option are grayed out, as a number of others have reported when I do a forum search.
We all know this device will play back videos...and I know some people have had luck with Videora...but why should the device seemingly not accept a video it says is okay. Recode is way easier than nearly any other program I've seen, and has a ready H.264/AVC-AAC conversion that should make it ideal for the iPod.
Okay...any help out there?!?!? Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
If the video tab in preferences for the iPod is
greyed out, that usually means you are not
automatically updating. Try setting the iPod to
automatically update. Does that help?

Is it necessary to have to have Auto-Update enabled
just to add video? And if so, why? Isn't there a
manual way to add videos to the device as well? The
Apple How-To screens show a ready way to simply drag
and drop if you have a Mac, why not with a PC?
And actually...Nero Ultra 7, which I just tried, now
has a ready-made video profile just for iPod Video,
and especially with AVC, the results look very
promising.

Well...on this end anyway, enabling automatic updating did nothing to add videos to the device. I tried, and failed, and I cannot manually drag videos to the iPod as those who have Macs can... which is a major problem in the Windows software at this point. For users who want to use iTunes and have different playlists on their iPod than the PC, using the auto update feature appears to basically butcher that as well.
Again, I appreciate the suggestion...any others out there? These forums are just littered with people having this same issue, and I haven't seen any real "how-to's" from Apple, where they need to be coming from.
And to Apple, if the answer is to reboot, reset, and reinstall, etc., as I've seen on some of these forums, that's frankly the same pseudo "solution" AOL used to offer in the bad old days for all of their issues...and even AOL has managed to largely get past that debacle.

Ok so yesterday i had an issue with my ipod and btabz helped me with fixing the issue and today i noticed this.
heres my previous post incase anyone wants to know the previous problem
So i was useing my ipod last night and really happy with finally putting everyone of my cds on there 4000 songs took 6 months to get on there But anyway,so i ejected my ipod like im supposto,and went into my menu and EVERYTHING was gone songs n albums,so i plugged it back into my Pc trying not to tweek and it read the 12.72Gb out of 60 leaving me with the 42.96 gb Free but not one song shows up in the ipods list,and i dont know why or what i did wrong or anything can you help me i want my 4000 Songs back I dont have ne of my songs in my iTunes at all or on my pc they were all on da pod ,This is really Iupsetting,and Ifrusterating,and by the way im INew...Thanks for ur Ihelp.

okay and for the new issue
my "12.72Gb out of 60 leaving me with the 42.96 gb Free" is what my ipod said before the songs were fixed after i fixed the songs,i deleted some that i did not want off my ipod,No problem right then i noticed i had 3391 songs cuz i deleted a bunch still no problem but then i noticed this
it says (3391 items,8.4 days,11.57 Gb)and it says Used:24.29Gb with Free:31.39 Gb,why did my Gb useage double when i fixed it,and removed a bunch of songs,and should i have removed the songs off my ipod after i did what btabz had me do?
and for my 3rd issue some of my songs the albums are fine but the song names are like "HZUJ" and like "LBXV"and funky stuff like that whats up with that?

just download the podplayer.exe from www.ipodsoft.com and backup all the songs from ur ipod to ur system and then upload them to the itunes library . then u restore ur ipod for the latest updater available and then transfer all ur 13gb songs back into ur ipod.
its a long process though, but guess it works fine.

HI!!!HELP?someone............new ipod 5th generation user here....pls

I bought a new ipod 5th generation (30gig)2 and a half months from now.
Problems:
1.) I accidentally/i intended to reset my ipod while still connected to pc (windows xp->how stupid of me.
2.) After resetting all videos,songs etc... are gone but pic are still in my ipod-> where did they go?deleted perhaps?
3.) I deleted the itunes, restart my pc and reinstallitunes and again and restart my pc bec itunes no longer recognize my ipod->(itunes says:i need to have an ipod software updater to restore factory settings)
4.) I go to the apple website to download latest ipod updater then i saved it to: Save to disk
5.) Then in my pc desktop an icon for adobe:ipodsetup.exe->click it but it says:There was an error opening this document.The file is already open or in use by another application.-> cant understand what it implies...
6.) So because of that i deleted all the remaining files in my ipod which was MY PICS. so it leaves my ipod no songs etc as in empty as ever.
7.) I reset it twice and turned it ON->of course not connected to pc or anything-so i checked out the SETTINGS of my ipod, then to ABOUT, then discovered that -IPOD SONGS:0,VIDEOS:0,PHOTOS:0,CAPACITY:27.8(i have no questions about this i know why 2.2 was already consumed because of the menus/internal settins whatever), but AVAILABLE:23.5!!!!!!!!->WHY?I THOUGHT IT WILL GO BACK TO 27.8, does this mean my ipod has some defects or something?i took care of my ipod has a protective crystal casing, never fall of from my hands/while being use in short its my partner in life as of now.

WOW, you have a big problem. My first suggestion is to restore your ipod, like btabz said. Other things you could do are 1). Send it in to a electronics store or apple.
2). Get a new ipod (LAST RESORT)

Handbrake gone nuts... or is it me? Help required!

I have completed with great success ripping of small 20min episodes from DVD's but when I tried a full movie I get a message saying "ac3 error". It is bugging me because I must be doing it right to get the 20min episodes to work.
I am setting it to 400kbps, mpeg4, ffmeg, 2 pass encoding, cropped to 320. Selected the English AC3 audio. I have tried it on three films of a well known Sci-Fi Film series. Has Wars in it's title....... so anyone have any help for me? Are those discs the issue?

Itunes/ipod updating HELP!

whenever i plug my ipod into the computer it updates my ipod, however once that update is done if i change a setting and hit sync or apply nothing happens..itunes say it is updating but my ipod doesn't respond and it says that it is updating for a good minute or so then i get an error message. the error message says that the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found.
how can i get this to work so that i can update my ipod?
also..if you uninstall your itunes then reinstall it will you lose all of your songs? if you can help me PLEASE do..i can't get anything to work.

Why can't you set it to manually update?
Connect your iPod to the computer. When it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences. Click the iPod tab. Set it to manually manage music. Click OK.

Take it off manual update. Repeat the process. If it still doesn't work, try turning off album artwork, unplugging the iPod, then plug it back in, and put it on disk mode. Then unplug it again, then plug it in again, and check artwork.

I have the latest software. I have updated my Ipod and restored and all that kerfuffle and STILL my videos show up on my library but NOT on my ipod. Would some one like to help me please

Ipod Video Help... Taking Advantage of Everything

Okay I have a couple questions.
1) I am going to reformat my computer and want to use myipod to hold my files. Any opinions on this or would a CD/Zip backup be a better choice?
2) If i were to load pictures onto my ipod can i upload them onto another computer or is it a one way deal like with music?
3) Is there any other cool stuff i could be doing with my ipod or cool forums Im missing out on?

here's some additional answers:
1. the chances that your iPod will malfunction or be stolen are slim. if you are using it as an external hard drive while you reformat, your files should be just fine. if you are reformatting your computer's hard drive to use a new OS or to just clean up the current OS, the iPod should be recognized without worry.
you should be fine.
2. follow BTABZ's advice on this. but in addition, you can manually store photos on the iPod by using it as an external hard drive (dragging the photo's into a folder on the iPod). these are not displayable on the iPod, of course.
3. There's a bunch of cool things to do! check it out:
- on the Mac you can turn text files into spoken Mp3 files to hear email, notes, or even webpages read to you.
- Notes: i use both Word and on the Mac, TextEdit, to create readable notes which i put on my iPod. Speeches, presentations, journals, email, etc... all right on the iPod for reading on a plane, train, or potty.
- Calendars: i use the Calendar feature every day. as a Mac user, it's easy to sync it up and have all my important dates right there.
- Contacts: again, once it's sync'd up, i have all my contacts right there.
- like BTABZ wrote, there's lots of accessories you can buy, too.
- check out iLounge.com. you might find some cool ideas there, too.
you'll have to research how to do some of this on the PC. but, as far as "can they be done," well... yeah. i hope this was helpful for you! good luck!

Help! Resolve Error 1647! Any takers?

I know this may not be an Apple matter, but whatever is happening is keeping me from updating both iPod and iTunes. There must be some BONUS points for solving this error. However, no one's stepped up! I really need some help. I've missed 2 updates for iPod and 1 for iTunes. Here's the message: Error 1647! Unable to create installdrivers instance
Return code: 2147312566....
I'm trying to find a solution on this error message. Haven't had much luck! Most of what I've read isn't clear. Most importantly, I'm afraid to add anything to the system language. Any easy solutions? Can I continue to run my current (old) versions of the iPod updater and iTunes?

PLEASE!!! I really need help with my iPod songs!! Help Me!!!!

I have a 30 GB iPod and I have been importing songs to my computer....My iPod has, right now, about 410 songs and 20 videos...but my pc is starting to get really, really slow!
I wanted to know if there's any problem in deleting the songs from my pc...if I do that, will the songs from my iTunes and from my iPod be deleted too???
Is there something that I can do? Something in the "Preferences" that save, somehow, the songs in the iTunes program, but, at the same time, let me delete them from the pc?? Or I will have to accept that my pc will get even more slow???
PLEASE, I'd really love if somebody help me!!
P.S.: I have already "Consolidated" my library (Advanced > Consolidate Library), but I don't know if that helps me somehow.....

That one's from a book. I used that code to start with my applet. Mine calls different merthod from the switch cases. Say I have:

How to split and assign serial number,please hELP.

.after giving serial num i have to change points in table1 to 0.The problem for SUm and split for every 143 is ,different OU and store is there.we have to know for which store points we earned serial number.

Help my safari doesnt open and gives me a crash report

help my safari doesn't open and gives me a crash report ever since i downloaded a file from the internet. I have a macbook air (early 2014) with running os x yosemite version 10.10.1

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.
