anim8,
I do like the K8N-Sli Plat.
Take Care,
Richard
Thanks alot for reply
What i fear with K8N-Sli Plat is that its older than K8N-Sli-F, and maybe more faulty. I dont know, but if K8N-Sli-F is newer, MSI has maybe corrected some problems.. i dont know :/
What is the most popular card atm? I really want a card that i can get support on, and thats why i dont like Sli-K8N-F much, because its new, and new cards often got new problems too.
I looked a lot at Neo-4 Plat too, but just before i should buy i saw that almost all hardware-stores in Denmark where i live, is out of stock, and they will not get them again because MSI has stopped to produce them. I dont know if this is coerrect, but if no hardware-stores in Denmark will get the card at store again, their must be a problem right?

  • Help me buy a new computer suitable for Arch

    Hello all Arch users.
About 1½ years ago, a mate convinced me to try out Arch Linux. It was about the same time as I also bought myself a TFT monitor. I've grown rather fond of Arch since then, and refuse to use anything else (except at work where I have to use Windoze).
But I've also been having some eye-problems for the last year or so, and I'm blaming partly my Phillips 190S monitor, and partly backlight/brightness settings in Arch, which I have been unable to change. Last thursday these eye-problems accelerated and gave me so much trouble I was unable to use a computer or TV or even go outside for days. I can't live a life that boring! :-|  I have to be able to use my computer 25 hours a day.
I've searched a bit on the forum and found that I'm not the only one having some eye-problems with Arch. One solution apparently is to use xbacklight command, which just doesn't work on my system. I found another graphics-card which I tried, but it used the same drivers, so still no xbacklight command. Anyway, I don't want to make a big story out of it either, since I've decided to buy a new computer and monitor now. I want a low-noise system anyway, so....
The monitor will be some expensive stuff that should be very kind to the eyes, so I'm pretty sure that part can't be better. But should you have a recommendation for a great monitor that's kind to the eyes, do share.
I'm thinking that the hardware otherwise might not be compatible with Arch for reasons I'm sure I wouldn't know about. Also, I'm interested in knowing if there's any graphics-cards that suits Arch better than others. And finally, my Arch system is a little broken, and a fresh install probably isn't a bad idea. (I'm no Linux hardcore user, but I definitely know I prefer any Linux distro over Windoze).
So I decided to put down the stuff I'm thinking of getting, and maybe someone will tell me if they know of any problems with that hardware and Arch, or maybe recommend me something else.

    Samsung 250GB SATA II Harddisk
    NorthQ NQ-6803 52-in-1 Cardreader
There's no graphics-card on that list, because there's a built-in one one the motherboard, and I don't really need it for games, but rather system-development and such. But if you believe that a certain graphics-card will improve picture quality, or be more kind to the eyes, then do tell me. (I doubt it, but if you think so, lemme know).
Any other advises regarding brightness and be-kind-to-your-eyes-stuff is also welcome. So far I've installed www.sharpfonts.com, but it's too soon to say if it helps.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the answers.
I'll definitely look into that flourescent lighting thingy, although I think/thought I had enough light around me already.
I have also tried having brightness at 0, and even contrast at 0 also. Also using the nvidia settings.
Anyway, it would seem I've found one of the reasons. Apparently, for some weird reason, Arch hasn't offered me 60hz, but rather lower odd numbers such as 53hz. So I've been using a rather lower frequency, which logically should explain at least some of the reason.
While Windows lets me go as high as 75hz with this current 17" monitor I've tried instead of my 19" monitor, Arch won't even let me have 60hz. I've tried various xorg.conf settings, and even got one mailed to me which doesn't change anything. So that's two monitors I've tried where Arch doesn't deliver the hz I want, but where Windows does fine and more. That can't be right. I'm using the nvidia drivers, and have tried two graphics cards.
I'm buying a better monitor regardless though, something that's extra kind to the eyes somehow. I'm thinking 19-22" with some fancy techniques to reduce whatever it tough on the eyes. Maybe a fresh install of Arch will help getting the hz needed. I need to do that anyway on the new computer.
I also tried booting Ubuntu from a CD to check how that seemed, and while the Ubuntu desktop and fonts did seem more calm and eye-friendly, I must admit I'd been looking at it too much at that time to be sure I wasn't just kidding myself.

  • Help installing Cs2 On New Computer, please.

I have what is, for me, a serious issue.
I am a long time user and my needs are very basic. I upgraded to CS2 years ago and found this level of product more than sufficient to my needs.
I now want to install it on a newer computer. Cs2 is an upgrade and I need to go back to my original full purchase - which is Photoshop 5.0, Illustrator 7.0 and Pagemaker. I have tried installing Photoshop 5.0 in order to have it on the computer for Cs2 to recognize it and allow the upgrade. It does not respond. I tried installing Illustrator 7.0 and got an error message (computer) stating it could not install the software because of the 64 bit architecture.
All I want to do is be able to happily use my Cs2 which is more than sufficient for me. It appears I will be unable to install it as Cs2 is an upgrade package.
I contacted Adobe support and surprisingly was told they no longer support Cs2 and I should buy a newer version. Of course I cannot upgrade from anything, so any purchase would be a full version purchase. While I get the software is older, it seems harsh to say "go buy a new one."
I suspect I am not the first person ever facing this problem and hope someone has faced a similar circumstance and can recommend a solution.
    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

  • Had to buy a new computer, went to install my old photoshop cs and it won't let me activate it!  don't this people have phone numbers????

help please.... I HAD TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER, OLD ONCE CRASHED.  OF COURSE I LOST EVERYTHING.  I'M NOW TRYING TO INSTALL FROM MY OLD DISC PHOTOSHOP CS ... IT WILL NOT LET ME ACTIVATE!!!!  I CAN'T FIND A PHONE NUMBER WHERE I CAN TALK TO ANYONE!!!  WHAT DO I DO??????  I'M JUST THANKFUL I SAVED ALL MY PICS ON A DISC BUT I REALLY NEED MY PHOTOSHOP, IT'S OLD, BUT STILL WORKS!  CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

Adobe shut down the activation server for CS2 and earlier a couple of years ago. In its place, they made available a new non-activation version of CS2. As an existing CS owner, you're entitled to download it.
Download and install the non-activation CS2 from Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Use the new non-activation serial number on that page. Your existing serial number will no longer work.
PS I presume you're using Windows. The CS2 version will not install or run on modern Intel-based Macs.

I want to reinstall CS4 as it has been doing some strange things regarding printing, etc. However, when I did this before, it created a major problem and I ended up buying a new computer because no one could figure out why it kept hanging up during the installation. Hours on the phone, no results. I'm scared to do it on this computer. Should I try? Not even the Adobe support could get it resolved. I believe it was somehow reading a product number that could not be deleted or something, and nothing worked.

    Hello, as an addition:
In your case I would download a really new trial version of your program(s) in question and change it/them into a "real" version later, BUT because you said, that you "re-installed" already, so it will become a little bit more complicated. It would be necessary that you have to use "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" as Keith wrote.
Here an advice for that (The order varies depending on your individual needs. Please read all my proposals first, so you can better choose the first step:)
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
    2. Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.

    4. If necessary and for further questions click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and if "open" please use the chat, I for may part - as it seems unlike you - had the best experiences. • Need Photoshop advice before buying a new computer

    Hi Folks ....
My computer is 6 years old.  I'm starting to get the "blue screen of death" periodically so I am buying a new computer.
    I currently own Photoshop CS2.
    Here are my options.
I can buy a new computer and make sure I have Windows 7 Ultimate so I can use CS2 on it (in XP mode).
Or I can buy a new computer without Windows 7 Ultimate and upgrade to CS5.
My real question is, when I buy a new computer, is it okay for it to have integrated graphics?
Will Photoshop run okay on ingrated graphics, or should a buy a machine that comes with a graphics card installed?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards and many thanks,
    Mark

That's ggod news that I can run CS2 on Windows 7.
Yes, it will be a desktop PC so I will make sure I configure my new PC with a graphics card.
    Thank you.

  • Why would I have to buy a new computer to sync my new iPhone 4?

If I had a PC, I probably wouldn't have this problem. First of all, I have a Mac 466MHz PowerPC G4 that runs OS 10.4.11 (Tiger). It works just fine. I cannot upgrade to (Leopard), because my MHz is not over 600MHz or something. I cannot upgrade to (Snow Leopard) because my computer does not have an Intel processor in my computer. I bought a "PHONE", just a phone. No other phone would be giving me this problem. I shouldn't have to buy a new computer just to sync my phone to the computer to get all my music. I am probably going to a have to return my phone, because what's the point? I don't have another computer to export my iTunes library to. Does anyone else have this problem? HELP!

The PowerPC 466MHz G4 was discontinued on the 18th July 2001, according to some light research on the inter web, that's over 9 years ago, while I understand your frustration, you must have come up against some other issues with new technology not being compatible or useable with your current system, USB 2.0, PCIe, DDR, DDR2 or DDR3 RAM, SATA hard drives to name but a few.
I'm not having a dig here, but as others have said, the requirements for using the iPhone have been readily available for each release of the iPhone. If you chose not to check those prior to purchasing the iPhone, that is your responsibility, not Apple's.
Personally, I would be writing a thread praising Apple for making a machine over 9 years ago which is still running well for you today, instead of having a go about current technology not being compatible with what can only be described, from a technological standpoint, as a fossil.
If you had a PC, especially of the same age, it would probably sitting there not working at all. Hardware in PCs is generally outdated faster than on Macs.
As for "if you bought a phone, just a phone" you wouldn't be able to sync that to any device. Just a phone plugs into a wall mounted telephone socket. As for syncing non Apple Mobile phones with Mac OS X, the reason I bought the original iPhone and every iPhone upgrade since, is because it was the first mobile phone that could sync to a Mac efficiently and accurately.
If you think you'll be better off with a PC and just a phone, enjoy your shopping experience, oh and remember to pick up some Anti-virus software while you're there, you'll definitely need it. (You'll need iLife replacement programs too while you're at it. Oh yeah and PC variants of any third party software you currently use on your Mac).

  • Can I buy a new computer with Snow Leopard?

I tried Lion but I was very disappointed. Since I am planning to buy a new computer I would like to know if I can have Snow Leopard on it. On the Store I see "Lion included" everywhere and no option to have the previous OS version.
    Tanks
    Stefano

Thanks a lot Thomas. That's unbelievable and it is really disappointing.
To answer your question what I did not like was:
    - not to be able to customize the interface (e.g. up/down buttons in finder scroll bars, uncustomizable finder's side bar)
    - useless new features (e.g., launchpad - I do not need to use my laptop/desktop as if it were an iPad)
    - loss of programs (e.g, front row)
    - mission control is beautiful, but expose was helpful and I need the latter
    - versions and automatic save are not needed to me but I did not find a way to disable them. It looks they make my system slower
    - my macbook became generally slower, but I could cook eggs on it. Unfortunately I need a fast laptop and not a stove
I hoped I could downgrade the OS, but it is not the case, so this time I am going to buy a Linux box. Hopefully next OS will be better.

There was no reason to start a new account.
You can certainly use your old account on any computer/device.
    You cannot merge accounts.

  • Had to buy a new computer and not able to download my ITunes purchases

I had to buy a new computer and I am not able to download my old purchases. I didnt back up my purchases on my old laptop. What can I do to download my old purchases? Thank you

+I didnt back up my purchases on my old laptop.+
Woops, big mistake not backing up, since you only get ONE download from the store; no more downloads will be coming to your new PC.
Do you at least have your purchases on an ipod? You could authroize the new PC, then do itunes menu > file > transfer purchases from ipod.

I received LR 5 for Christmas but have not downloaded it yet on my computer. I have had LR 3 for about 4 years.  I am due to buy a new computer soon but need to know how many licenses/downloads I will get before downloading LR 5 on my current computer.  I may also purchase a laptop in the next year so that would require 3 licenses altogether (current iMac, future iMac, future macbook).

    You have one license.
You can download and install it on an infinite number of computers, as long as it is only installed on two of your computers at any one time, and in use on only one computer at any given time.
So in your case, current iMac, that's would mean its installed on one computer, no problem. Future iMac and future MacBook ... so if you uninstall from current iMac and install on Future iMac and future MacBook, it's now installed on two computers at a time, no problem, as long as you're not using Lightroom on both simultaneously. And if after that, you got two new computers and uninstalled Lightroom from the previous two, you're still good, it's only installed on two computers at any one time.

Type "move itunes library" into the google search bar
