Help me choose a 865PE board

Hi,
I need some help in choosing the best(most feature packed, fast etc.) MSI 865PE motherboard.
There are two boards that are pretty identical and trying to find the difference between them has been difficult. They are the Neo2-FIS2R and Neo2-PFISR.
Which one of these two should I buy? They cost about the same. What are the major differences between them?
Please help me in choosing.
Thanks!

Great, I did see this link earlier but I'm confused by several things and please excuse my ignorance but I have been out of the Hardware scene for 4-5 months which is a long time in hight tech.
First thing on this table that I see on the P version is "P4EE Support" what is this? and why does the first table not support it?
On the first table it had a column "PCB Ver." what is this and where can it be found on my computer or Mobo?
So from looking at this link then I can safely say that I can buy a prescott CPU and it will run fine on my neo2 FIS2R?
faster Prescott's, so are there variations in the CPU and will my board be able to handle the faster ones?
Sorry about all the questions but if I can get answers to these then it would be extremely helpful.

UPDATED:
I do find these two tables very confusing and there is little explanation, To me the first table is saying that all the boards only support P4's and not prescott? the second table is saying that only the Extreme Edition supports prescott?
but the second table also lists the FIS2R etc so its all very confusing????

  • I need help on choosing the main board

    hey guys
    i want  some help
Is it worth changing my mother board to a KT6delta FISR
    Present Mother Board-------KT3 ultra ARU

That would depend upon whether you need/want the extra features of the KT6 Delta FISR. The KT3 board you have should be capable of handling up to the 3000+ @ 333FSB with the latest BIOS & PC2700.
If the SATA and other extras of the KT6 are what you are looking for, then yes. If you are just wanting to add a faster CPU, the KT3 can handle almost as fast as the KT6.

4gb of ram should be sufficient and I doubt I would ever upgrade to 8gb.
as for graphics, I would mostly only need a mac that would allow me to play the latest Sims games. the first has a graphics memory of 512 and the second has 256.

  • Including an link to an help file(*.chm) in dash board

    hi,
is it possible to place an *.chm file(help file) in the dash board .
i tried but OBI is not opening it up in that format.
can some one give me an solution to this.
    thanks

'.chm' is a Microsoft Compiled Help file that only works in Microsoft Explorer. You are advised to convert it to a friendlier format like HTML.
As per Microsoft, due to a remote code execution vulnerability, you cannot open .chm from a URL. However there are some workarounds in the link below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896054
Coming back to Oracle BI, you could open the link in a separate window, and ask users to download the chm. Once downloaded locally, the chm file should work fine.

    hey guys,
i need some help with choosing a right PSU for my gaming rig.  i plan on doing some overclocking for the first time, and from what i understand the regular no name PSU that came with my case just won't be enough.  so here is what i'm currently looking at:

my question is, is this a good PSU?  it's going for roughly $100 and i'm willing to pay around that much.  can someone tell me if this is a good choice, or any other recommendations? thanks in advance!
btw, my specs are below in my sig...

  • Help With Choosing The Technology

    Hello,
I need help in choosing the appropriate technology for the application that I'm going to be creating.
The characteristics of the system that have been decided until now:
Standalone app built on either Flex/Flash/AIR
Restricted to using the system on a single computer, hence can be a tightly coupled system
The server component of the system needs to be closed source and robust, for which im thinking something like a Java backend, etc, etc.
In a completely new environment, all that i need to be able to do is install just the AIR application and not worry about installing extra stuff for the server support.
Thanks In Advance for anyone who can help me out with this.

If you are saying you want the server component to be on the same machine as the Flex app, then your choices are severely limited due to the sandbox, unless of course you are using AIR, then you can just use the SQLite database.
But if there will be a sevrer component on another machine on the web, you could use BlazeDS, and like I said, its free and very robust.

  • DRAM wound too tight??????? Neo 865PE Board Advice needed

First - My computer is normally rock solid with no problems.
I turned my computer on today and it would not even boot to the BIOS.
It was if there was no power going into it but then it started to boot for about 1 second
then died. I tried again and the same thing kept happening.
I opened it up, checked the Main Board, reseated the graphics card and power cables.
This time it booted but before the bios kicked in it gave the following message:
    'DRAM is wound too tight'.
I have not changed anything in the BIOS as I would not know what to change but
it then booted to the BIOS and under the power settings it says the following:
    Dynamic Over Clocking       = Private
    Performance Mode            = Slow
    CPU Ratio Selection         = Locked
    DRAM Frequency              = Auto

    CPU VCORE Adjust            = No
    DDR Power Voltage           = 2.50v
    ?GP Power Voltage           = 1.50v
If anyone can make any suggestions I would be most appreciative as I cannot
afford to loose my computer or any data that is on it.
I'm worried that the Main Board maybe failing or maybe the RAM or PSU?
In case it matters this is what is in my system.

    thanks for the replys everyone.
I take it then that my problem is the PSU?
I am shocked that you rate the Q-Tec one so badly, it is the one that was supplied
with my computer and has worked with out a problem for about 3 years or so now.
I cant take a chance with it so its going in the bin.
Having done some checking I have located a trusted stockest who has
Corsair VX 550W ATX Power Supply (CMPSU-550VXUK) [CMPSU-550VXUK]
    or
Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) [CMPSU-650TXUK]
for just ubder £80 in the UK.
Are either of these any good and is one better for me than the other considering what
main board I have. Also the new CPU has got to fit in my computer case so its physical size must match the old one.
I am not a modder so this is all a bit alien to me so any tips or hints much appreciated.
    Thanks again

  • Need MAJOR HELP recovering an 845E-Max board (no post)

Hey guys and gals, I need some SERIOUS SERIOUS help here recovering my old board. I have an MSI 845E-MAX board, and decided to do some overclocking to it. While doing it, I raised the FSB too much, and now the system wont post. So I know what your all thinking, ok, take out your CMOS battery, or clear the JBAT1 jumpers. While ive done that, repeatedly, to no avail. Ive cleared the jumpers over and over, nothing. Taken the battery out for a 24hr period, nothing. Took the battery out for nearly a MONTH!, and nothing. Next your probally thinking, while maybe its bad RAM, Vid Card, CPU, etc. While it isnt lol Ive replaced/tested all the current hardware in other systems and they all work fine. Ive got a defenet mobo problem, and its really pissing me off lol on other boards by other manufacturers, if I put my FSB to high and it didnt post, restarting would put it into default specs, so I could adjust my fsb as needed. With this 845E though, its no such luck, and reseting the CMOS dosent do anything to fix it. Ive also read some posts about other boards who dont even have a JBAT1 jumper, and used an "insert" key method, where they power down, hold down the insert key, and boot up. Decided to try this, and it did nothing. I didnt think it was made for my board in the first place, but decided to give it a shot. IVe also tried reflashing/recovering the bios, by downloading the newest bios (its an AMI i believe) renaming it, putting it to a floppy, and booting the system holding CTRL+HOME to force the update. but it does nothing, and dosent even seem to read the floppy as the little green light dosent come on when i power up. The DVD/CD drive does though, and wehn i place WIN XP SP2 in the drive, it reads it and green light stays solid, so its just the floppy drive im having probs with I guess. Also, i get no beeps at startup, but can hear the hard drive boot and spin. I list my hardware specs below to help
So PLEASE, some MSI guru, help me before I go crazy here! :P thanx a million to any one who can lend a hand.
    MSI 845E-MAX
    2 x 256 Azen RAM PC2100
    Benq DVD Burner
    Intel Pentium 1.5ghz P4
    Nvidia Geforce 64mb
*this is a spare system im building, but the board WAS my primary board till I upgraded, so im use to its settings, just no OC'ing it apparently lol*

I do indeed...and yah i get no beeps at all....
but everything powers up fine...hdd spins...cd rom turns on, if i put in a Nic card, the green light comes when a cat5 cable is in it. So it looks like everything is receing power fine, but i just get no beeps at all to signify start up

First I don't think you or anyone should put up with having only 3 channel memory when they paid for 4. If the board or CPU are faulty they should be replaced.
You can start with MemTest86 or MemTest86+. MemTest86 has multi CPU test option that is more real life like, I don't know about MemTest86+, haven't used it for quite long time.
Before using Prime95, make sure you have CPU/Core temperature monitoring software  such as RealTemp, Core Temp, HWiNFO, or CPUID HWMonitor.
Prime95, I assume th 64-bit version, but this create a lot of heat, what cooler do you have?
You can choose to run 6 threads instead of 12, it should be stressfull enough, also you can add the line Code: [Select]
CpuSupportsFMA3=0 to local.txt to disable FMA3 instructions that are more stressful on the CPU but not necessarily on memory.
If it is still too hot (>70c) add Code: [Select]
CpuSupportsAVX=0Do not close the window to stop the test, select exit from the file menu.
Or you can try OCCT which is all-in-one, stress + monitoring in one program. Select Large Data Set to stress memory. It also runs somewhat cooler than Prime95.
trust me i agree i talked to msi support and got no help they just kept telling me they know about the issuse and should have a fix for it soon, But yet i have seen many people say they have the same problem over 5 months now.......  So i just talked to amazon and they said no problem they will give me a refund so now i need to find a good board to work with my i7 5820k 2011-3 pcu

  • Need help to choose a DAQ for simultaneous sampling

We need to choose a DAQ for simultaneous sampling. The restrictions are:
    a) 2 channels
    b) The signals on both channels are not continuous. A valid input on the channels is signaled by a falling edge in a third line that can be used as a trigger.
    c) The rate of these signals can be up to 50000 per second but they do not arrive in a periodic way.
    d) The timing:
The trigger is a pulse of 600 ns
The signals on the channels are stable 200ns before the leading edge of the trigger pulse and remain stable for 900ns.
We have seen the PCI-6143 but we are not sure if it is the best choice.
    We have some questions:
    1) Does the 6143 fulfill the timing requirements ?
    2) Is it posible and easy to set the board to take one sample after the trigger ?
    3) Is there a better choice than the 6143 to solve the problem ?
    4) Can we solve this problem programming in VB or VC++ and using the software that comes with the board or do we need to buy extra libraries ?

    1) Does the 6143 fulfill the timing requirements ?
Yes, the 6143 should fulfill these requirements. It has a 250 KS/s sampling rate per channel which should give you 5x oversampling at the 50 kHz maximum bandwidth you indicated. The minimum delay from the recognition of the trigger to the first sample on this board is 100 ns which falls within the 900 ns window.
    2) Is it posible and easy to set the board to take one sample after the trigger ?
It's not clear to me whether you want to take a single sample after a trigger and stop or use the trigger as an external sample clock to acquire several samples at the rate of the trigger. In either case, it's possible and relatively easy to do so. The only quirk is that the minimum number of samples to acquire for a hardware timed acquisition is two samples. This means if you really only want one point after the trigger, you'll have to setup the hardware to acquire two samples and then throw the second one away in software.
    3) Is there a better choice than the 6143 to solve the problem ?
This seems like a pretty solid choice for the application you described. However, you didn't mention what the amplitude of your input signals are. The 6143 has a fixed +/- 5 volt range. If this isn't sufficient, you'll have to provide signal conditioning or choose a board with a wider input range. Also, I'm assuming your trigger signal is a TTL signal. If it's an analog signal, you'll want to choose a board with an analog trigger circuit (the 6143 doesn't have an analog trigger). The PCI-6111 is a 2 channel board with a +/- 42 volt input range, an analog trigger, a 5 MS/s sampling rate, and will also meet all of your requirements. The only down side of the 6111 is that it is more expensive and is a 12 bit converter instead of 16 bit. The PCI-6120 has even more functionality than the 6111 and has a 16 bit converter at 800 KS/s. PXI has some more simultaneous offerings, but I'm assuming you want to stick with PCI. You can also check out some of our modular instrument offerings such as the PCI-5102. I'm not as familiar with the modular instruments, so you'll have to check out the specs for yourself. Whether there is a better choice or not is pretty subjective. That will depend on how much you're willing to spend for the features and specs you really care about. From the information you provided, the 6143 will be the lowest cost solution that meets the requirements you specified.
    4) Can we solve this problem programming in VB or VC++ and using the software that comes with the board or do we need to buy extra libraries ?
The DAQmx driver provides interfaces to both of these programming environments at no extra cost.

  • Help me choose a monetization model

I am creating a Windows Phone application(category - tools and productivity). I now choose monetization model:
    1. I will show ads in the application. The user can buy off advertising. It will be the same application package. Check payment will occur within the application.  Some applications use buying the new version without  advertising. What
    it gives advantages?
    2. I will show ads in the application and limit the functionality of the application to the first purchase. The user can simply turn off the Internet and use the program without advertising. For this case, use a limited functionality
    application.
Which of these options is better?

Actually I have been doing further research and I personally would either go with the 2.6GHz NON RETINA MBP or cough up the cash and go all out on a 2.6GHz RETINA MBP and upgrade the RAM to 16GB  and upgrade to 768GB Flash storage, I am a student as well so will get a discount which will help.
My fears are that if I get the Retina model I will not be able to upgrade it even further, I want to keep the computer for at least a good 5 years, during those 5 to 8 years will the current upgrades be enough to keep up with the top games and programs etc? Also I have read that repairing the Retina display model is very diffcult  and it can malfunction commonly, so I am guessing I should get apple care on top of it just to be sure with this particular model?
I am assuming that they they will bring out the new models out next year and all the chinks and bugs of the current Retina model will be fixed so to speak, of which I have read there is a few... Would it be worth buying the NON RETINA MBP and then selling and upgrading to an improved RETINA MBP model next year?
Finally if i back up my files on a hardrive would I have to use the USP SUPER DRIVE to install files onto the RETINA MBP or can i directly do this without the USP SUPERDRIVE?
    Thanks

  • Help with choosing the right specifications for a Macbook Pro Retina?

    Opinions needed....
So I'm new to Macs, but I know what I want to achieve and I feel this is the right route to choose. I'm looking at delving into the world of music production, using Logic pro 9 and garageband, but I also enjoy watching High definition Movies and televison so I know that the Retina display is definatley the right choice for me. However, I'm unsure on the amount of RAM & Which processer I should choose. I have read a fair bit on forums and online about the new retina macbooks being 'locked' from upgrading, so the 16GB of RAM is an immediate choice for logetivity.
The choice of processor is when I start to become clouded in my choice. As forementioned, I'm looking at running logic pro, as well as high def movies. There is also a possibilty at looking into photo and video editing, Whether that be in final cut pro or photoshop... But I want to leave my options open.
I think the choice of 16GB of RAM, 2.6Ghz processor, with a 256GB hard drive ( as i have 1.5TB external space) would be a good choice. Once I've added on applecare that comes out at around £2350, Which is a significant investment, but one that I think will help me immensely for the future. I am interested in other peoples opinions on my possible choice because, as I said before, I'm new to the world of Macs and making the right choice is essential. As a side note, the choice of upgrades also ensures a reasonable resale value, which is a bonus.
    Regards

Both power adapter I have are different (at the magnet end) from the one in link.
Earlier adapters have T shaped connectors, which Apple later changed to the L shape, presumably to make them more abuse-proof. Either one is fine and the one you are using will not damage your Mac.
Retina MBPs and new MBAs use a completely different MagSafe 2 connector which will not fit (without an adapter).
