Help me choose a monetization model

I am creating a Windows Phone application(category - tools and productivity). I now choose monetization model:
1. I will show ads in the application. The user can buy off advertising. It will be the same application package. Check payment will occur within the application.  Some applications use buying the new version without  advertising. What
it gives advantages?
2. I will show ads in the application and limit the functionality of the application to the first purchase. The user can simply turn off the Internet and use the program without advertising. For this case, use a limited functionality
application.
Which of these options is better?

Actually I have been doing further research and I personally would either go with the 2.6GHz NON RETINA MBP or cough up the cash and go all out on a 2.6GHz RETINA MBP and upgrade the RAM to 16GB  and upgrade to 768GB Flash storage, I am a student as well so will get a discount which will help.
My fears are that if I get the Retina model I will not be able to upgrade it even further, I want to keep the computer for at least a good 5 years, during those 5 to 8 years will the current upgrades be enough to keep up with the top games and programs etc? Also I have read that repairing the Retina display model is very diffcult  and it can malfunction commonly, so I am guessing I should get apple care on top of it just to be sure with this particular model?
I am assuming that they they will bring out the new models out next year and all the chinks and bugs of the current Retina model will be fixed so to speak, of which I have read there is a few... Would it be worth buying the NON RETINA MBP and then selling and upgrading to an improved RETINA MBP model next year?
Finally if i back up my files on a hardrive would I have to use the USP SUPER DRIVE to install files onto the RETINA MBP or can i directly do this without the USP SUPERDRIVE?
Thanks

    What are the main differences?
4gb of ram should be sufficient and I doubt I would ever upgrade to 8gb.
as for graphics, I would mostly only need a mac that would allow me to play the latest Sims games. the first has a graphics memory of 512 and the second has 256.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Help me choose a 865PE board

    Hi,
I need some help in choosing the best(most feature packed, fast etc.) MSI 865PE motherboard.
There are two boards that are pretty identical and trying to find the difference between them has been difficult. They are the Neo2-FIS2R and Neo2-PFISR.
Which one of these two should I buy? They cost about the same. What are the major differences between them?
    Please help me in choosing.
    Thanks!

The faster Prescott's are no longer shown, so maybe they are being re-spec'd again.
Great, I did see this link earlier but I'm confused by several things and please excuse my ignorance but I have been out of the Hardware scene for 4-5 months which is a long time in hight tech.
First thing on this table that I see on the P version is "P4EE Support" what is this? and why does the first table not support it?
On the first table it had a column "PCB Ver." what is this and where can it be found on my computer or Mobo?
So from looking at this link then I can safely say that I can buy a prescott CPU and it will run fine on my neo2 FIS2R?
faster Prescott's, so are there variations in the CPU and will my board be able to handle the faster ones?
Sorry about all the questions but if I can get answers to these then it would be extremely helpful.

    UPDATED:
I do find these two tables very confusing and there is little explanation, To me the first table is saying that all the boards only support P4's and not prescott? the second table is saying that only the Extreme Edition supports prescott?
but the second table also lists the FIS2R etc so its all very confusing????

  • Help With Choosing The Technology

    Hello,
I need help in choosing the appropriate technology for the application that I'm going to be creating.
The characteristics of the system that have been decided until now:
Standalone app built on either Flex/Flash/AIR
Restricted to using the system on a single computer, hence can be a tightly coupled system
The server component of the system needs to be closed source and robust, for which im thinking something like a Java backend, etc, etc.
In a completely new environment, all that i need to be able to do is install just the AIR application and not worry about installing extra stuff for the server support.
Thanks In Advance for anyone who can help me out with this.

If you are saying you want the server component to be on the same machine as the Flex app, then your choices are severely limited due to the sandbox, unless of course you are using AIR, then you can just use the SQLite database.
But if there will be a sevrer component on another machine on the web, you could use BlazeDS, and like I said, its free and very robust.

  • Overview of Monetization Models

I came across this new Adobe page:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/2011/11/monetization-models-through-leading-app-s tores.html
This page seems to be a good start for offering an overview into the complex world of distribution. It reveals some new info (hey, look, the Kindle Fire!) and clears up a lot of confusion about the whereabouts and costs of a "single" edition (so there are two versions). But as I read through it, it also added some confusion to what I thought I knew for sure or believed from other sources.
At this moment, I'm still or again wary about the stated "Free" type of distribution, the flipping terms "folio" and "issue", and the meaning of the sometimes tossed in adjective "platform" store (do you regard the "platform" as the ADPS' sales system in general or a certain device's brand store?)
Just for the sake of preventing any misunderstanding, please check if the diagram correctly reflects the exact same wordings as the bullet list above it, and other sources like the official announcements and Adobe employee posts on a forum like this.

  • Help Choose an X79 Model

    Hello all,
The time has come to update my mobo and GPU. I'm running on the x79 chipset and have a 3930k. I recently purchased the RIVBE and to cut a long story short - I'm very upset with the quality of product. I'm going to list some of my requirements for a motherboard and hope someone can help me filter the MSI choices.
    1. I have a quiet setup with 3 PWM Noctua's. I do not care about PWM, but I need the fan controller in the BIOS to allow a minimum speed of ~30% or below.
    2. I do not need incredible audio. I prefer onboard - but I have an entry level hifi headset. Because of this, I need surround emulation. The higher the quality, the better though.
    3. I want ROCK solid fundamental performance and stability. Its simple, I want the board to work.
    4. I only need to run a single high-end GPU (SLI not desired). I'm probably going to get an MSI Lightning 780 GTX or 290x when it releases.
    5. I want to overclock my processor, but within reason. I don't mind manual overclocking (will not use any silly autoclockers) and prefer low thermals and efficiency for 24/7 stability. Maybe 4.2 on the 3930k?
Based on this, which model would you recommend? There seems to be a few x79 boards which appear to either be discontinued (per Newegg) or have little documentation and review. I'm feel like this chipset is ancient and I'm even considering going over to the z87 chipset. The motherboards seem to have a lot more functionality, but I'm concerned about the thermal issues surrounding Haswell. All-in-all, I'd prefer to hear how the Big Bang XPower II or GD45 Plus fits into my needs?
Finally, I'm not interested in waiting for any further technologies. I'm upgrading this week and just want help with immediately available products. Thank you in advance!

There is no better board to choose than X79A-GD65 (8D) I'm using it in my secondary system and it proved being rocksolid. Proper bios support, no known issues and no useless gimmicks. Perfect for oc, sli or just running a stable stock system.
XPower II is a waste for you as it is meant for extreme oc and multi gpu usage. Besides there are bios flaws too many died lately (including my own). While looking less spectacular X79A-Gd65 (8D) is the better product. X79A-GD45 Plus basically is an optical update of X79A-GD45 (8D) what means it is the value version of X79A-GD65 (8D) and offers two SATA III ports less and two USB2.0 ports less. Also it doesn't offer Firewire unlike GD65.

  • Help me choose a model and upgrades please.

    Hi guys,
Basically I am stuck on a air few things with deciding what models along with upgrades. I am stuck between getting the MBP 15 inch 2.6GHz or the Retina 15 inch 2.3GHz. For starters I would say I want to use the MBP for general stuff like office and more complex programs like SSPS, surfing the net downloading movies and music and playing games like Rome total War amongst many other games etc. However, I think I have read the Retina display does not even work with all games?
Due to the relative low price I'm sure I will upgrade to 16 GB worth of RAM  If get the Retina MBP as you can't upgrade them further down the line (*****). I beleve with the Retina MBP there is no disk drive, so i can't directly insert DVD's or Burn files onto disks etc, but this can be overcome by buying the Apple USB Super Drive, am I correct?
The Retina display only has 256 GB flash storage and that is kinda of low, will it more then enough for what I want to use the MBP for? What would that flash storage not be enough for?
If I get the normal 15 inch 2.6Hz MBP then I will upgrade the screen Hi-res glossy widescreen display as I like to play games and watch movies. Is it worth upgrading the hardrive the improve seed, efficientcy and power performance?
Overall what model would you say best suites my needs thanks?

I am assuming that they they will bring out the new models out next year and all the chinks and bugs of the current Retina model will be fixed so to speak, of which I have read there is a few... as long as your project is <60min, iDVD will create best quality technically possible (=using the highest bit-rate, 9MBit/s) standards allow .
it is not a prob of the tool, but the standards. your source is 1920x1080, a DVD can contain only 720x480 ..
if you want 'higher' delivery-quality, consider BluRay (hmmm?) or a MediaPlayer (AppleTV, WD TV, PS3, .. )

  • Help with choosing a MacBook Air Model for a college student.

I am a college student and I am debating between the two 13 inch Mac AirBook models that Apple offers. I was wondering if someone can give me a breakdown of the differences and also, which model would be a better fit for a college student?

The two models are described here:
    MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) - Technical SpecificationsJun 10, 2013
Actually, there is only one model.  You can purchase it with 128GB or 256GB of storage.  But you can customize other features as well, such as the processor speed and the RAM size.
Asking which model is best for a college student is just like asking what type of car you should buy.  It's up to you.  In my opinion, if you're going to spend a bit of money to upgrade from the base model, the first place to upgrade would be the RAM size.

  • Hard Drive Crash - need help with choosing new drive and installation

My hard drive seems to have crashed. My computer froze, and when I tried to reboot, it got stuck at the startup screen. I started from the system CD, ran the disk repair utility, and it said it could not repair the disk. I ran Tech Tool Pro and it could not repair the disk. I tried to start up in Target disk mode while connected to my older G4 iMac (that I'm using now as my backup), and the disk would not mount. So I need some expert advice - I am assuming the hard drive is toast. I wish I could at least mount it in target disk mode to transfer files, but I haven't been able to do that. I was going to take it in for repair (or possibly buy a new computer), but after reading some of the posts here, I am thinking I could just replace the internal hard drive with a 3.5" SATA drive.
What I need to know is am I correct about this? And is this the right kind of drive for my iMac? Are there any specifications I need to be aware of when ordering a new drive? I downloaded the manual explaining how to replace the drive and it looks doable. I would appreciate any guidance as to choosing the new drive (specific brand names/models would be great), installing the drive, and tips for formatting, etc. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to Discussions - any 3 1/2" SATA drive will be fine, go to [macsales.com] or [smalldog.com] or [newegg.com] and choose whichever drive fits your wallet. Most of them are reliable, I have heard of problems with Seagate and Hitachi, but there are always some failures with any brand. Make sure to get a good warranty.Instructions will come with the drive, but you can download them from [Apple|http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac> as well.
