I'm not 100% certain on this, but I believe BIOS version needs to be 1.E (maybe 1.D) to properly support that RAM you have. You might check on the G.Skill forum about that. It might also be worth checking the CPU socket for any bent or damaged pins with a strong light & magnifier. If the other mainboard works perfectly with the exact same components, & the BIOS version is the exact same, that can only mean there is a problem in the CPU socket or the mainboard is in some other way defective.
my ram is 1.50v which supported by my board. the board that im using now and the board the have a problem is the same. But im not sure about the bios, i'll cjheck it tomorrow to make if they have the same version.
everything is exact set up. didnt change anything, the mobo that i was using might be defective. at least i will try to update to check if it will fix the problem,

  • IPod nano with computer connection problems and more

My iPod Nano is always stuck at 1:06am and on the completely wrong date. The time will not change. If I try to change the date and time, it freezes up and I have to do a hard reset so I can get it to function. This problem it has had for quite a while now, and I don't view as a very pressing issue.
The following problem however is new to just yesterday. It impedes me from updating the iPod or adding new music. I added new music to it a month or so ago and yesterday was the first time I have tried to do anything with it on a computer in 2014.
It will not connect to a computer. The moment I try to chord it up, my entire computer runs slower, and iTunes crashes. My computer also doesn't always recognize that it is plugged into the it even though the iPod will have a "Do not disconnect" screen and is charging.
Another interesting thing to note is that I have tried to synch my iPod up to a few different computers and the results are the same, and if you try to shut down or boot up a computer with my iPod attached to it, it won't. It'll stop mid process and refuse to shut down or boot up.
I have followed some of the troubleshooting guides on similar sounding problems to no avail.
I realize  that my iPod is also fairly old as far as iPods go (2008) and I will probably have to just get a new mp3 player. However, I would like to avoid that outcome as long as possible.

first off , i don't think there should be any issues updating the router's firmware on a vista machine....
the other things that you can try are :
changing the MTU size to 1365 ,
under the "advanced wireless settings" subtab, change the beacon interval - 50 , fragmentation and RTS threshold - 2304 ...

  • Udev kernel 2.6 boot problems and questions

Hello there..  During these days I'm trying to install a new linux kernel. I have the insane Idea of installing an old kernel. I compiled the "new" old kernel and I can't manege to get it to work efficently..
I keep receiving a message this message during the boot.
Failed to start udev Kernel Device Manager
Although I followed the requirements for undev related to the kernel 2.6
Why am I trying to install and older kernel? Well, the my reason is simple: my laptop keyboard that it's so annoying.. Every once and then it's not recognized at boot and it force me to reboot the system even for 4 or 5 times consequintely..
With the kernel 2.6 I never had such problems and so I thought It was worth trying..
Another interesting question that keep coming to my mind is related to the kernel that it's been update after pacman -Syu.
I notice that in /usr/src there is a a new directory eithe the new kernel called  linux-3.9.5-1-ARCH, well if I try to build the kernel inside thi directory I get a message
    linux-3.9.5-1-ARCH]# make
scripts/Makefile.build:44: /usr/src/linux-3.9.5-1-ARCH/arch/x86/syscalls/Makefile: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/src/linux-3.9.5-1-ARCH/arch/x86/syscalls/Makefile'.  Stop.
    make: *** [archheaders] Error 2
The linux-headers are seems to be correctly installed to me...
Any Idea or explanation or suggestion would be very appreciated.
    Thank you

Arch userspace is too new to survive with an older kernel. This isn't going to end well for you.
If you want your keyboard to function properly, I suggest you file bugs against the relevant parties and work with them to get actually get it fixed rather than go down this bizzare rabbit hole.
edit: even our LTS kernel (3.0.x) is too old for Arch userspace.

  • Help wanted: X86 Boot problems...

My system boot failed from Hard Disk after X86 installation. But it can boot all ok from DAC floppy and then the system seems to run well. How can I solve that problem and make a successful boot from HD? Many thanks.

i got the monitor working - i had changed J11 not J10 (or vice versa, whichever is which) so thanks
now it freezes when i try and boot - im using a win98 startup disk, sometimes it freezes half way thru loading the cd drivers etc, sometimes it loads them and then i just cant type anything (but it cant be the keyboard coz i gotta press enter to tell it to boot with cd support)
i read that it might be a RAM problem - im running an athlon 1900 which is a 133/266 cpu, but my ram is PC2700 which is running at 166/333 - would this cause any problems? i went into BIOS and told the RAM to run at 133 instead but thsi didnt fix the problem
    also, my PSU is 3.3v=28A, 5v=30a, 12v=15a
and the d-bracket has all 4 lights green

  • Computer Boot Problems

Hi there everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help me with a dilemma I have been having for the past week.
I have a MSI 865 NEO2-P Platinum Edition with P4 2.8C PC that I built and used for a couple of months now but recently I had a major problem. My whole entire PC just froze and had to use the reset button, but after that the PC will not boot at all now.
So I tried the reset CMOS procedure by:
    Switching off PC, unplug cord
    Put CMOS in clear position
    Take battary out
Hit power/reset button a couple of times
    Left for 30mins - 1hour
    Put battery back in
    Return CMOS to original position
Put in power cord and power it on
Using the procedure a number of times I get random D-Bracket results which normally involves:
    2 - green & 1,3,4 - red = memory detection test
1,2 - green & 3,4 - red = decompressing BIOS image to RAM for fast booting
    1,2,3 - green & 4 - red = Testing RTC (real time clock)
With no sign of display on monitor just blank
So my next step was to test each and every hardware I had in the system on my other system (AMD Athlon based) and they all work perfectly - video, monitor, sound, memory, disk drives, and PSU.
so far the only things I havent tested is:
MSI NEO2-P Platinum Edition board with another CPU
    P4 2.8C with another motherboard
Both of these would entail costs if I did and I have no friend I know that has a P4 system so I wanted to make sure.
As a last effort, I did the CMOS procedure again but left it over night, and went to test it next morning, this time no matter how many times I reset the CMOS the computer is set in stone with all D-Bracket lights on red - meaning my CPU is either damaged or not properly installed but I am not 100% sure.
Before I go out on a replacement spree, I was wondering if anyone could provide some valuble and much needed advice on what can/should I do or to help me determine which component is maybe at fault.

  • [nForce] Help with another booting problem with the MSI K7N2

Ok, I've been reading the threads and tried almost all of the solutions to no avail. Here is the issue...
While adjusting speed in bios, Upon reboot the system would not display video. Steps taken to solve:
*Betwwen all changes I unpluged all power from system
    1. Cleared CMOS VIA Jumper, Turned system on, no change
    2. set J10 Jumper to default then restarted, Still no video.
    3. Checked & reseated memory & CPU. Still nothing.
    4. Removed battery for about 30 seconds (Am going to try to remove it for 30 mins when i get a chance tomorrow) still nothing
At this point i assum the motherboard was bad. I tested botting up with no memory in an attempt to get the warming/error beeps but nothing the system just idles.
Am i missing something?  Any help suggestions or links to solutions would be greatly appretiated.

Sorry, I wasn;t trying to be vague, Was messing with the comp for a couple hours and got fed up. You were right, it was the k7n2. It's not mine it's a friends and wasn't around so i was going by memory. It had been running descent but was never properly installed (software) and was poorly cooled (hardware) so it had overheating restart issues. This is where I come in. I told my friend i would take a look at his computer. It was home built by one of his friends. Te system is fairly basic and the only plug in card used is a agp video card. The computer was working great after i reinstalled the CPU with proper thermal conducting when in BIOS his Athlon 2.6 was set for 1.8 I adjusted it up to the proper setting and he asked if i could bump it further. I attempted but it was unsuccessful and didn't boot. I cleared cmos with the jumper and it booted up again no problem. I stupidly went back in a fiddled around some more with something i shouldn't have because i don't remeber what it was. I belive it was the FSB Speed, but i'm not positive what change cause this particular shutdown. I'm no computer technichian, just a hobbiest. I cleared the Jumper again but this time it dodn't come back and boot. I then looked in the book and found out about jumper 10 (i think) for the SAFE MODE 100mhz boot. I set it as well with no response. I then disconnected the power cable from the PSU and unluged the battery for about half a min or so. cleared teh cmos jumper again, kept the safe mode jumper in safe mode and tried to reboot. It still just hangs. No screen, so Bios check or wrning beeps. It just idles. It revs the hard drive up for about 20sec or so but that is it. I'm going to try the suggestion earlier in the eact oprder giving by osnavi for the reseting cmos. I tried those steps in vvaroius orders 5 or 6 times before giving up.
Any help is appretiated. Thanks for your responses.

  • Help needed with Boot times and performance.

Hi everyone, after two weeks of getting nowhere i gave up and here i am. I have an S10-3 which i am struggling with. As the post title indicates perfomance is (how can i put it) slow. We are talking 15/20 minutes to boot and when i finaly get to Windows its pretty much unusable. Ended up corrupting the recovery partition with my (lets say limited experiance) and have so far proceede to try and install Win XP/Vista/7 with all the same problems unable to install/slow/slow. I think what i am looking for is some pointers on wiping the HDD clean (completely) and some info on how to get a running install of pretty much any Windows that perfoms in a manner that allows me to acctually do something productive. On a plus point i did install an extra Gig of RAM allthough this made very little difference. Thanks in advance for any help offered as i am completley stummped.

If you intend to clean up completely you can use the secure data disposal tool from Lenovo

Do you have a windows installation media with you?

  • Help pls Lots of problems and Is this a Neo Platinum

I have bought and installed what is supposed to be a K8N Neo Platinum.  MS-7030.  It has a AMD 64-3000+.  The board is stamped "K8N Neo Rev 1".  I can't find any Platinum anywhere and NONE of the MSI software utilites pull back any information at all about the motherboard, other than MS-7030.
    Biggest problems:
    1) There's no Gigabit lan option in the BIOS (version 1.2).  Other than that, the BIOS seem to match what the book says they should be.  I have a MAC LAN option, but no Gigabit lan option.   It's just not there.
    2) I have the MAC LAN enabled and installed the system drivers ok.  It shows up in device manager.  But none of the MSI software utilities recognize the onboard ethernet card.  Third party utilities such as "TCP Optimizer" don't show the Nvidia LAN adapter but show a "1394 Net Adapter" even though I have the Firewire disabled in BIOS and not installed in Win XP Pro.  Internet access is ok as far as I can tell but I wonder if performance is suffering.
    3) Live Update says I need the ADMTek network drivers or something like that.  Never heard of them, and do I really need them, what will they do?
    4) Temps are hot.  120 F/49 C idle immediately after boot up.  Can get up to 61 or 62 C when under load.  I have max cooling options in BIOS and CoolnQuiet enabled in BIOS.
    5) The MSI Software utilities such as DMI, Infoview, WMIinfo don't work right or report a bunch of garbage.  Internal/external cache reports invalid in the DMI browser, etc.  The Infoview shows no network information (see item 2)
    6) The power light blinks sometimes.  It IS hooked up correctly - it is NOT hooked up to the HDD LED.  The HDD LED works fine.  But the power light blinks, especially in Windows and when under heavy load, or when logging on and off accounts.
I switched to Nvidia because of all the headaches I had with old VIA chipset on my last board.   Was it a mistake?
    This board seems really flakey!!!
    Thanks -j

Flashing to the official 1.3 seems to have helped the temperature problems quite a bit....
Could this be the problem with my network card:  when i first repair installed XP Pro after installing new mobo/cpu/ram, I left the nVidia LAN disabled and kept my old PCI ethernet iinstalled.  After I had everything set up correctly, then I disabled the PCI ethernet card, removed it, and enabled the onboard nVidia LAN card.  Internet works and everything.  It shows up in device manager after I installed latest system drivers.
But, it's like no other software can see this network card, not even MSI's own software utilities.
The LiveUpdate says I need something called ADMTEk network drivers or something like that but I don't know what this is or why I  need it.
    Thanks

  • Help! Mac boot problem!

When my Mac boots, a little bar appears below the apple logo. Then, the bar fills up very slowly. I know the bar isn't the progress of my Mac booting, because after the bar fills up and disappears, the spinning wheel goes on for like another 20 seconds. the Mac actually boots, and there is nothing wrong, but because of the little bar that shows up, my Mac takes 15 minutes to boot, and its a waste of battery and time. Please help me get out of this problem. Thanks!

That means the directory of the boot volume is damaged and a repair is being attempted. If it happens repeatedly, you should assume that there's a hardware fault in the drive, the internal cable, or the logic board. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. Back up all data before you go.

  • Computer boot problem

Hello, Last night something strange has started to happen to my computer, it is a lenovo ideapad s500. I was running a game on my laptop and it crashed which forced me to restart (I couldnt get to the control pannel because the game covered it). I used the actual Power button to do this. Now whenever I try to turn my computer on the keyboard lights up but nothing happens on the screen it just stays black and the keys stay illuminated. If it would help I could record what is happening and post the video but if somebody knows why this is happening than I wont bother. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Power down the unit. Press the novo button and see if you can get the boot option menus. If yes choose System Recovery and select Restore to initial backup. This will erase your hard drive and put the factory OS back into it.

  • Boot Problem and Lock-Ups

I'm not that advanced with motherboard technologies, so I'll ask my question in Layman terms. I have a HP Pavilion 761n that comes equip with a MSI board, AMD Athlon, Win XP and 512 DDR SDRAM memory. My first signs of problems began when under normal computer usage the screen would go black then come back on and the system would then be frozen and need to be restarted. This would happen after about an hours worth of on time. The time then went down to 30mins then 15mins and sometimes even at the "welcome to xp" screen it spontaneously restarts itself. I thought it might be a video card problem, but I have tried installing an invidia agp with no luck. Any suggestions on what the problem might be or where I can start to diagnose the problem? Thanks.

Where and how could I check the power supply? Where is the CPU heatsink/fan? Would I need a special device, such as the one to be found @ CompUSA? I did have an enormous amount of dust in the computer, I tried to clean it the best I could, but I may have missed such places as the ones you listed. Thanks again.
