Help me find my lost space on ipod nano

I have an ipod nano 1gb.
I have done a restore on it to clear all data, however, it now says there is only 893mb available with 337kb of "other" data...
Can anyone help me find my lost space and tell me what "other" data is and how can I remove it also...
Thanks

Bear in mind that iPod system file will eat up some space on iPod as "others".
You can try to do the following instead of just a Restore
For Window computer
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • Help me find my lost photos....

Hi there.  I use a iMac with adobe bridge and photoshop elements. Yesterday I loaded up some pics into adobe bride.  They went into two seperate file folders in adobe bride.  I wanted to merge the two files together so all the photos from that shoot would be together so I dragged the one file over to "pictures" in adobe bridge and instead of dropping into "pictures" it just sat above it...so I tried dragging it again and then a question mark appeared where the folder was and then it disappeared.....poof gone!  I labelled the pictures  "lbengagement" so I thought ok just nee to locate them in finder and move them back.  I CANNOT FIND THEM ANYWHERE.......I have looked and looked and they literally seem to have disappeared.  I even tried to pull it from recently opened becuase I had edited a few and I see a few of them in the list but when I click on it I cannot open it.  Of course the memory card had already been erased and new pics taken over it and not to mention my external hard drive (my book live) went on the fritz this week and I am waiting for a replacement...but this happened sooo fast.  I have check the trash and they are not in there...can someone help me find these lost pics somewhere on my mac?  Thanks Jill

Thank you for your reply. Apologies i'm not very technologically minded. I basically backed up my iphone on my computer and then restored it. It gave me an option on my phone to 'restore as new' which i did NOT do... or another option.. can't remember what it said now but it basically put most of the data back on my phone including music, apps etc and most of my photos.  However 2 or 3 albums are missing, the entire photo stream, all my notes and also most importantly all my messages which i'm really sad to have lost.
After i realised they were lost i stupidly plugged my phone back in which did an automatic sync so now the latest sync is one done after the loss of data.  I read somewhere that there should be a list of back ups but i only seem to have the latest (post deletion) one.
    Thanks for your response

  • HT201272 Help me find my lost purchases

I had bought a couple of albums on my phone and my iphone was stolen...   I got a new iPhone and signed in with my apple id, went in to my purchases and selected songs, went under the tab "not on this iphone",  and it says 'all your available music has been downloaded to this phone'... I can't find any of my bought albums.

  • How to help someone find his lost iphone

How to help a friend find his lost iphone ?
Item lost is iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1 installed.
iCloud is not set on the device, but have the imei no.

If icloud was not set of the device (and thus the "find my iphone" service was not turned on), then there's nothing you can do to find the lost device except help the friend search the house and other areas - in other words, there is no technology that can help.
Be sure the friend has contacted their carrier to have them shut down service and possibly contact the police.
Knowing the IMEI is of no help  to Apple, they do not track these nor serial numbers.

  • Lost tunes from Ipod Nano!

can anyone help. I uploaded some CD's onto my ipod nano and bought some tunes of the music store. for some reason the ipod has lost the purchased songs and now only has copird ones from CD. However they are in the libary on my itunes account. how can i retransfer them?

If you're using iTunes 7, you can copy purchased music back to iTunes directly. If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.

  • CD ROM Drive lost when installing iPod Nano

After installing my iPod Nano and iTunes my PC will no longer recognise it has a CD ROM drive.
Like a dummy I tried it on 2 PC's and now they are both stuffed!
Apple tech support don't have a clue.
I have uninstalled everything, even the CD ROM Drives and rebooted, hoping the plug and play would kick in but no luck - HELP

I now have a solution for this. I printed out the solution before it disappeared off the PB website so im quoting direct from my printout. If you are not familiar with using regedit then be careful or seek assistance.
    Packard Bell PC’s
Yellow exclamation mark in device manager against CD/DVD drives and drives not useable/visible on PC. Can happen after attempt Ipod Nano install.
To fix involves running and modifying system registry editor
1 Click START then RUN type REGEDIT and click ok
2 Locate and then delete the following registry values:
    HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE\SYSTEM\currentcontrolsset\control\class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-B FC1-08002BE10318}-
This string will be visible in the right hand pane of registry editor and will have a yellow folder beside it.
When you open the folder that has the above string immediately to the right of it then in the right hand pane of registry editor a list of values will appear.
Reading from top to bottom they will probably be a list of items each having an icon with the letters ab in red.
    The list is
    Default
    Class
    Enumproppages32
    Icon
    Installer2
    Lowerfilters
    Noinstallclass
    Silentinstall
    Troubleshooter=0
    upperfilters
Now click on lowerfilters to highlight it then delete it,do the same for upper filters. When you’ve done this, drop down the file menu (top left hand corner) and click exit then power off the pc and restart)
If you’ve done this correctly all should be well, the nano should work and the DVD drives will be present.

  • Help to choose (HD) radio dock for iPod Nano 4th Gen

Can you help me decide what radio dock to get for my new iPod Nano 4th Gen?
    Desired features:
    Speaker (obviously)
iPod doc compatible with iPod Nano 4th Gen
    Radio AM/FM/HD
Reasonable audio quality (at a minimum)
I'm thinking of staying away from clock radio type docks as I suspect the audio quality on a clock radio dock is likely inferior to a speaker style dock.
I'd appreciate your comments - Thanks!

    Thanks for the suggestion!
I continued my search and also came across this one (Sony XDR-S10HDiP):
    http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1055 1&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665480060
When I checked this model earlier in the week I could have sworn they only claimed support up to iPod Nano 3rd Gen, but today they claim 4th Gen.

  • How to free disk space on ipod nano 6th gen

Okay so I have 86 songs on my ipod nano 6th gen capacity 8GB and it says it's full. I've deleted a huge number of files from my itunes and also on my media folder. It did not reduce the disk space on  my ipod. I presume that the 86 songs are taking up all the space on my ipod. Does this mean I'll have to unclick and unsync some of the tracks to make room for new songs?

I think you need to restore through iTunes to change an unknown password. Here is a link to the manual.

  • Maximising/freeing up space on iPod nano?

    Hi,
I bought a 2 GB nano (first generation), and I've now filled it up completely and so have to select certain songs which I do want on there (and others I don't).
Is there any way to free up space on the nano which would allow me to store more songs on there? This could entail compressing the song files (without much/any quality loss), or removing album art, or by some other means possibly. Is there any specific tools I should be aware of?
    Many thanks in anticipation.

The problem with the method above is when the songs are first imported, they are compressed and lose some quality.
If you compress this file again, you will lose more quality.
Change the settings as above and when you first import from a CD, it will be compressed only one time and as much but you will have much better quality.
As far as "automate this compression", it does it automatically when you import the CD the first time.
If you want to do all the stuff you have already imported (I wouldn't definitely NOT recommend this - see 1st paragraph above) simply select all your music, then go to menu Advanced -> Convert selection to AAC.
Let it run thru all of them.
Then you will need to sort music by Bit Rate and delete all the higher bit rate songs.
Note that changing the bit rate from 128 kbps to 96 kbps will give you maybe ONLY 4 to 8 more songs at most, on your iPod than now but you will be giving up quite a bit of quality.

  • Hi, Can Some One Please Help Me With Deleting Pictures Off My iPod Nano?

Hi, can somebody please tell me how to delete all the pictures off my iPod nano? I accendenty transfered them all and I dont know how to get rid of them. Thanks
      Windows XP

I'm not sure about what you see in ITunes in XP, but this is how you do it in OSX.
Open ITunes, connect your Nano. Click on the Nano and then Preferences (it's a drop under "ITunes"). Click on IPod, then Photos. UN-CLICK " Auto-Synchronize" and you should get a pop-up that ask if you wish to remove photos from your IPod. Click "Yes"and you are done. It worked for me.

  • Help!!! : Adding photos on ipod nano

I try to add photos on my ipod nano. From itunes file menu I select "Add folder to library" and from the tab "photos" "sync photos from" and "all photos" and then "Apply". But all my previous photos stored in my ipod are delleted.
How can I add new photos without delletind the allready existing in my ipod???
Thank you in advance for your help

You don't add photos through Add to Library. Create a folder on your hard drive called called "iPod Photos" or something similar and drag the photos you want on your iPod to it. Connect your iPod and in the photo tab for the iPod, point iTunes to "sync photos from" and choose to update from your new folder. If you keep a dedicated folder like this, you won't need to edit your normal pictures folder just for the iPod and you can add and remove picture from it whenever you need to.

Then I layed my itouch on my desk, when i came back it was gone, I new someone stole it, PLEASE HELP ME I NEED IT BACK, ITS MY LIFE. It has everything on it. PLZ HELP ME -Alisa Alvarez

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police and school
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • How to find my lost or stolen ipod touch ?

I lost my iPod touch and I can't find it! It's been almost a month now. I need help finding my iPod touch, please help?
    HOW DID I LOSE IT?
    - My dad came back fishing and he left the fishes in a bucket so I went outside to check it out with my iPod touch. I set my iPod touch by the shoes. Later, my mom came back from work, and she told me to wash the dishes. So then I did, but I heard that our relatives were coming over for food (eating fish). I forgot all about my iPod until the next morning. I amuse it was either stolen or I lost it somewhere, I have no clue.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.

The battery would be dead by now. Thus, you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
