HELP ME FIND MY MUSIC

I had another computer crash. I have all my music on an external hard drive after the last crash. I got a new hard drive and installed itunes on it. Set the path for the external drive and nothing. Can someone help me find my music. I know it is there, I see it in the windows folder. itunes just doesn't see it.

Hi, mdw9901.
iTunes has to be specifically told that the music is on the external drive. Have a look at the Add to Library section of this article in the Apple Knowledge Base for details on how to do so.

I used to use Genius to help me find new music to purchase and found the feature to be very helpful.  Is this feature still available?

In iTunes 12, make sure that the menu bar is showing, click on Store, and click on Turn On Genius.
NOTE: You may have to explore a little, because this applies for the OS X version of iTunes.

  • Please Help me Find my music! Thank you!

Hi, I delelted voice memos off of my iphone 4 while it was plugged into my Mac OS X. My phone was connected to i-tunes at the time. I thought I saw the voice memos in my Mac itunes library, so I proceeded to delete the voice memo's off of my phone. Now, when I look in my itunes those specific voice memos are no where to be found? Not on my Computer nor on my phone?
Can anyone help me find where the voice memo's went, they are very important!
    Thank you for your time!
    ALenny

When you manually manage your iPod, you decide what songs to add and delete. You can make playlists for the songs you want to add and pull them on top of your iPod--or you can just pull songs on top of your iPod.
When your iPod is plugged into your computer, you'll see it show up in the left column as "Liz's iPod". You can just pull these playlists/songs right on top of "Liz's iPod" and the updating process will start.
To delete songs you no longer want on your iPod, click on "Liz's iPod" and when the window opens there will be two tabs--one will let you manage your iPod (restore, update software, etc.) the other will list the contents of your iPod. You can delete things using the contents window.
Finally, to release your iPod from your computer, make sure the updating process is complete. You'll get a message that it's safe to remove your iPod in the center grey box at the top of iTunes (where you see the apple). Then just hit the eject button triangular symbol next to "Liz's iPod" or in the bottom right corner of the screen. When "Liz's iPod" disappears from the left column of iTunes, you can unplug it from your machine.

  • Please help me find my music

I have a new computer and I got it "authorized" but when I tried to get my previously "purchased' music to show up it says "I have none"  What do I do next?

Media is where the user put it.
Installing and signing into iTunes has never made media magically appear on a device.
Copy the media (the ENTIRE iTunes directory) from the old computer to the new computer.

  • ITunes can't find my music library. Pleas help!

I just upgraded my iTunes. Next time I tried opening it a window appeared that read: "Can't find your iTunes Library..."
I tried searching by opening start/computer/iTunes but the file that has all my music was renamed to: bd4765ae206e5a7a782a28f08509 and when I tried opening it all I found was a list of 4 files that I can't open.
I know all my music is still there because the file still uses 125 GB in my computer, but I can't seem to run iTunes or I can't seem to point iTunes into finding my music.
    Please anyone help!!!

If you did not rename that file, then I am a little worried there might be a larger problem looming (malware, etc.). If this is so, then finding the file might not even help.
I recommend restoring from a backup. If the backup was made before this file changed, then you should be fine.
If you would like to stick with what you've got, then this Apple Support article should provide you with the instructions you need: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1391

  • I can't find my music folder in my ipod. please help

I synced all my folder music to Ipod classic, then I look to my Ipod classic but I can't find my music folder anywhere. Please help...

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

I am using apple iPod-suffle model,I am unable to upload music into iPod and 3 lights(green, orange and red) keeps blinking for few seconds when I connect my iPod to my PC and after few seconds its turn to unresponce mode,Plz help to find out solution.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

It will only be where you put it.
If for some reason you failed to transfer it to your computer from your iphone before updating, then it is gone, unless you live in one of the countries that allows redownloads:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

How did you save your music to iCloud?  Did you subscribe to iTunes Match?

  • Find all music files and move to one folder for all of family to access, find all music files and move to one folder for all of family to access

I seem to have music files in various places on my laptop, on my husbands computer and our main imac.  What we want to do is put all music on imac so when each of us logs on we have the same files availabe in itunes, but we logon seperately so we can have different playlists and checked music. So here is what I want to do:
Find all music files on each computer seperately and put everything in one folder one each computer, so three folders total to start...
Move my husbands itunes library and my itunes library from each of our laptops to our main imac, making one huge itunes folder
I want to store our music on an external hard drive, which I have, so I have a full library for backup purposes.
I want all future music downloaded on any of our laptops to transfer to the main imac computer, again to keep one main library
I want all video, apps, books, etc on each laptop to be available in one file on my main imac also so we can all use them
So mainly I want to organize, organize, organize and put everything in one spot so things don't get all messed up and some items are only accessible to me some times and not my husband or vice versa.  We want to share everything we can so we don't have to pay twice. I have read many instuctions, but nothing seems to be helping me and was hoping someone could...
    Thanks, l

I am totally running into the same issue as well. On top of that, when syncing to my iPhone, it took some of the tracks from my iphone and recopied them to the iTunes library, as new files, so now I have a ton of duplicates, and tons of tracks that can't find the iTunes folder, so they have the little "!" next to them.
It would be really nice to have someone answer this question. I didn't think, moving my iTunes library to a bigger external hard drive would have caused all this madness
