1) Dropbox (free) - by far the simplest way to share files across multiple devices.
2) Dragon Dictation (free) - amazingly accurate voice to text app.
3) Sundry Notes (free) - great note taking app with excellent options for notes, including text, handwriting, graphics, Web page captures, PDF/photo inserts, etc.
4) Zinio (free) - excellent magazine rendering and subscription app, allows me to subscribe to, download, and view multiple major magazines (Macworld, National Geographic, Motor Trend, etc.) in stunning clarity.
5) Expedition (free) - a Web browser that produces a VGA output signal so you can browse and SHOW the Web via a projector (for classes, business presentations).
Here are my favorite paid apps:
1) Keynote ($9.99) - the ONLY iWork app that outputs a VGA signal so you can use it on a projector
2) Office (squared) HD ($7.99) - allows you to download, edit, and upload MS Word and Excel files on an iPad.
3) eWallet ($9.99) - maintains your credit cards, bank accounts, passwords, serial numbers, in encrypted files.
4) Desktop Connect ($11.99) - allows you to connect to and control your howme or work computers directly from your iPad. As with most such connections, it is somewhat slow in react timing, but gives you complete access to your remote computer and all it's software. A life saver in a pinch.
5) HanDBase ($9.99) - the most powerful and flexible database for the iPad, with interface capability to corporate databases via ODBC. A must for IT professionals.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here. If you can't find the app in the store then it may have been removed either via the app developer or by Apple - have you not got a copy of it somewhere e.g. on your computer or on a backup ?

Spotlight not finding (some) apps by German names

Hi,
I today ran into a problem with spotlight that, I think, wasn't mentioned here yet. I wished somebody could help me.
I am using Mac OS X with German as the default language. So some apps, especially in the Utilities folder, then have a different name - their German translated name. E.g.: Directory Access>>Verzeichnisdienste, Keychain Access>>Schlüsselbund, Console>>Konsole etc.
Now if I type in one of these German names Spotlight doesn't find any result for applications on my PowerBook. But if I type in the English name of one of these apps, they are found.
However this issue doesn't apply to all of these translated-name apps. For example there are "Disk Utility>>Festplatten-Dienstprogramm" and "Installer>>Installationsprogramm" which are found by German name - not by English name (I think this is the way it should be...)
I've just deleted the Spotlight index and let it build it up from the ground. However, nothing has changed. This issue doesn't occure on my sister's or girlfriend's iBooks as well as on the PowerMac G5 of a friend. They all use German as the default language and have all installed 10.4.3 like me.
Any ideas what goes wrong here? Thankful for any help...

my guess is that the spotlight index was damaged during the hard shutdown. You should reindex your drive. add it to soplight's privacy tab in system preferences. close system preferences, open them again, remove the drive from the privacy tab and close system preferences. Your hard drive will be reindexed and spotlight should work fine afterwards.

I have to jog notes during meetings, want to find an app which can have the following functions:

Can't find some apps

I'm having trouble finding some applications such as Netflix and ABC Player on the app store. Does anybody know why this can be?

There are quite a few features that I am unable to find in Leopard. Can someone please help figure out where they went or how to work around the following:
In iCal you can no longer open the Info Drawer to allow you to see the details of your events as you click through them.
Previously it only required one click to view Event info and 2 clicks to make an edit.
Now it takes 2 clicks to see info which pops up a window with the details in it.
Furthermore it takes 4 clicks to make an edit. 2 clicks (double click) to open the popup window, one click on the Edit button then a click on the item you want to edit. Plus one more to get rid of the info window. It only took 2 clicks in the Tiger version.
Or you can press the Escape key after you make an edit which commits the edit. Doesn't the Escape key usually mean Cancel? It does everywhere else I've ever used it.

I didn't even know that existed. Regardless, space bar is now bound to Quick Look, so unless you can change it in System Preferences's keyboard section, you might be out of luck.

It's in the Search bar, when you start a search. It's displayed in quotes. (This should really be the default, IMO.)

NetInfo has been removed from 10.5 (probably to achieve the UNIX 03 certification; good riddance, I say). A few features have GUI replacements in Directory Utility, but the rest have been delegated to Directory Services. You'll have to use the Terminal to access most of DS.

Garbage characters in Finder, some apps not opening.

So I got back home from the holiday vacations to find my Mac in an utterly useless condition. At the moment all characters in the Finder (including folder names and the top bar) have been replaced by a non-ASCII capital 'A' inside a box.
Now I know the file names themselves haven't been changed since they all appear normal in the terminal.
Also some programs like Mail will open but show no window (and can't be quited out) while others like Flash CS3 just close automatically when I try to open it. System Preferences and TextEdit, and some other apps open fine though.
I've tried running Disk Repair and Permission Repairs on the drive from my other partition, and while a lot of errors were found and corrected nothing significant seems to have changed.
I'm pretty much out of ideas on what to do next... If you have an idea of what could be causing this and what I could do to fix it (bar reinstalling the entire system) I'd very much appreciate your input.

Hi.
That capital "A" letter is called Last Resort Font, and that means the OS is not able to handle the system fonts. You could try starting in Safe Mode (by holding Shift at startup) as it will clear the fonts cache, but, unfortunately, most of the times, this problem requires an Archive & Install.

Allan is right: I would like to add that even an updated Trusteer Rapport should be removed: it is crapware that makes your mac unsafer instead of safer.
When you open the dmg installer you will see an uninstaller in it: use that.
But also I suggest that you make some more space free on your startup disk.
Also you should uninstall Appfresh from Metaquark, suspicious software.
Uninstall Growl, not as good as the built-in Notifications and not working issue free in 10.10.
Uninstall the Valve Steam software.
Uninstall Cafeine, you do not need that!
Uninstall RealPlayer (see: thesafemac.com).
Update Flashplayer.
When you have done this all:
In SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItems   remove ALL entries with the minus sign underneath. This does not uninstall anything but stops it from running continuously, you do not want the throw away resources!
Then RESTART and empty the trash bin.
It should be faster now and the page-outs should be almost gone: check in Activity Monitor after a few hours of use.
When not completely satisfied, post an new list .

Sure.
First create an object called Person [1] which has a name (String) and a number (int or double). Then create an array of those Person objects [2] and use a for-statement [3] to fill the array. Within that for-statement, you will let the user enter some input [4]. From the input you will create a Person object and store it in the array.
When the array is filled, loop through the array (using the for statement again) to see which has the biggest number.

Help to find facetime app in my iphone

i need to find my facetime app after i deleted by mistake from my iphone

FaceTime is a native iOS app. You cannot delete it. Go to the Spotlight search and type it in. If it is in a folder, it will identify the folder. If that doesn't seem to find it, check Restrictions, to make sure there are no restrictions on it, then you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. The only other explanation is if you have a device that was purchased from one of the Middle Eastern countries. FaceTime is ban in several of them and FaceTime is permanently disabled on those devices. If this is possible, go to Settings>General>About and look for the model number. See if it contains AE.

Help me find an app!

So, I own and operate a pub in Australia. Therefore I'm always looking for innovative ideas to keep patrons interested. Over the years, I've noticed my jukebox and sound system deteriorate. Not good for business. Replacing it won't be a problem but it's boring and takes extreme effort to keep updating it. Which is where the iPad comes to the rescue. I want a couple iPads embeded in the walls of the main bar and lounge (obviously with proper protection against drunks) that allow patrons to view the library and request songs. Similar to the remote app but without the adminstrative tools such as adjusting the volume and even changing the song. I want these iPad to be integrated with the new dj station where the requested songs are automatically added to the song-list or something rather. Also will be cool when the iPads aren't in use they're either playing video clips or in-house advertisements. So, can you help me fulfill my vision?

Can't find some apps in settings

Hey guys,
When I look under Settings (Iphone 4S, updated), some of my apps aren't showing. Like Linkedin and G+ (Facebook and Twitter are there though.) So, when surfing and trying to access linkedin I constantly get the question if I want to get the linkedin app, though I already have it. And when I want to import my contacts to G+.. It simply isn't there. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

I'm looking for an app that I don't remember the name of. I believe it started with an O... possibly an A.
The last time I saw the app's icon it was a blueish ball thingy (not really a ball) and the objective of the game was to avoid enemy ball things (I think they called them cells) and go to a circle where you advance to the next level. It was sort of a sciencey game in the words and feel of it... and I remember there was a game like it online that was really fun where you would move a green spikey virus/antivirus thing away from the red ones that were there as blockers to get to the circle to advance. Same thing basically. Both said there were other obstacles you had to avoid too. You may have had to collect other "pieces" of yourself too before you advanced. I also believe it was timed somehow.
Like I said, I'm not entirely sure on any of this... though I know it existed. All descriptions of the game was purely from memory... so if that wasn't any help at all, I am truly sorry.
I have checked through what categories I thought this app could be catergorized in... Strategy/Arcade/Simulation and haven't found it in the 300 selections of paid top apps or for free in any of those. I doubt this app is a "top" app so it would not show up in that I guess.
